Ok…it’s true. I am a habit nerd. I love studying how the brain processes intel. The thing is, our feelings, our emotions play a huge role in habits. Ever say, “I am too upset to talk to that person?” or “I’m soooo tired! I couldn’t possibly work out today.” Stepmom, we must send ourselves new messages and practice habits that lead into the outcomes we really want. Here’s the thing about habits. Each habit has triggers. In Stepmom life, there are lots of triggers! Want an example? The thing about triggers is they are seemingly small actions that have catastrophic impact. The really frustrating thing about triggers is they are recurring situations which often trip us up. We think we’ll be ready for them…but…because we haven’t taken the time to process the last landmine that exploded, we step on the next one in ignorance. Then, we sit atop the ash heap of wounding words, confusing thoughts, and Stepmom double think. You know what I mean? Of course you do. You ask yourself:

Eve: The devil made me do it. Adam: She made me do it. My takeaways, shared on today's pilot of the pilot program I'm starting this week on the pod - Sacred Stepmama Shorties, are these: 💥1. What happens when we are accused? The flesh reacts quickly, deflecting responsibility by blaming someone else. 💥2. Satan is sneaky for sure when he asks, "Did God really say?" But...the thing is...it's the same strategy he whispers to us. "Those aren't really your kids." "It doesn't matter if you withdraw." "The kids don't need you." "You are not the right woman for the job." 💥3. Forgetting God. Did Eve check in with God? Did Eve consult the Word when she was listening to Satan? Did Eve consult her spiritual leader of the household, Adam? Did Adam consider God's teaching, his commandment to NOT eat from that tree? Do you hear the gonging clanging empty of the word NO to all of these questions? 💥4. Did you notice that Adam wasn't somewhere else in the garden, he was right next to Eve? "She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it." Anyone else wanting a knight in shining armor to step in and protect this woman? 💥5. Finally, consider the influence of a woman. Do you catch it? The woman gave to her husband. Her suggestion to partake and Adam's acceptance signifies Eve's influence. As you consider how you want to show up for 2023, I invite you to spend time meditating on God's Word.
