Episode Sixty-Two 'PROOF OF CLAIM' is the third and final segment of a mini-series. Over the past two Episodes, a compelling case was made for the idea that -- beyond established Torah norms of anticipatory yearning -- today, an active and assertive ask for Moshiach's arrival is in high order. We also clarified what changed, as in, why it may not have been like this previously. In this concluding Episode, we present immutable evidence culled from established past precedent to prove that the novelly woven tapestry fusing a Halacha from the Laws of Claims with the need to ask Hashem for Moshiach isn't that novel after all. While the thesis weaves a fresh fabric of time-honoured legal threads of Halacha and Aggadah, one cannot authentically argue that, for all its creative elegance, the arguments made don't fully wrap around the well-worn typical Torah approach. More than anything else, it represents putting into practice the pleading for the restoration of the Beit HaMikdash and Davidic sovereignty and Geula/final Redemption that is already richly documented. Here, the thesis is further reinforced in two-fold fashion, as loose ends of the argument are stitched together producing durable proof for The Rebbe's seemingly novel approach about the time for a more assertive approach having arrived. This Episode deftly completes the picture by sewing up the remaining loose ends -- and wrapping it all together. Emphasizing and underscoring just what is at stake become the final stiches to finish the embroidery. Episode Sixty-One 'WHY 'LAY CLAIM' NOW?' is the second segment of a mini-series. Based on a brief letter The Rebbe wrote in a time of personal grief, in this Episode you'll be introduced to a range of classic Torah sources on the subject, that ultimately emerge as greater than the sum of their parts. Episode Forty-Seven, entitled 'MOSHIACH: A NEED OR LUXURY?' further demonstrates the fallacy of the thinking that after more than 1,950 of unanswered prayers for The Geula (the Torah-true Jewish Messianic Redemption) it might be best cease and desist, rather than continuously pestering G-d. This concludes what we began in the immediate past Episode "TIME TO GIVE IT UP." The seeming "proof" drawn from the Talmud stating that excessive prayerful entreaty can make G-d look harsh and us seem petty, is entirely misguided, as even a casual read of the very next sentence illustrates its inapplicability. In fact, the Rebbe uses a number of compelling proofs from Sefer Tehillim, and our Siddur to demonstrate the veracity of the polar opposite. In completing the said thesis, the Rebbe directs us to the clearly stated defining essence of the obligation for [Daily] Prayer itself. Once Tefillah is defined, the conclusion is inescapable. Our incessant entreaty for Moshiach's coming is not only permitted, but in fact, something we are all obligated to continue asking for until Hashem grants us the moment, we're all waiting for! Episode Forty-Six, entitled 'TIME TO GIVE IT UP?' considers the possibility that after more than 1,950 of continuous yet fruitless entreaty and prayer perhaps it time to stop asking for it. Maybe, just maybe we shouldn't be pestering G-d any longer. Those advocating this approach, suggest that at this point we leave it in Heaven's hands. Whenever Hashem decides it's time, we'll be ready and waiting they say! This sounds reasonable. And they maintain that the teachings of our Sages back them up! The Talmud clearly states that excessive prayer can have the negative consequence of making G-d look harsh and us look petty. Is there any truth to this? The Rebbe once tackled this possibly well-intended, yet entirely wrong-headed approach to the issue: Beginning with fact that the Talmudic "proof" clearly indicates its inapplicability. Explicit examples lifted from King David's prayerful entreaty in Sefer Tehillim prove that exactly the opposite is true. In fact, the structure of our Daily Prayers proves that we are obligated to continue asking for Moshiach, until we finally get the response we've been waiting for! Episode Forty-Five, entitled 'OWNING ANTICIPATION' explores implications of the previously established Torah truism on the future Messianic reality being resultant of our Avodat (service to) Hashem [especially, but not exclusively] during exilic times. As that imminent future isn't an indirect remuneration, but a direct result of our efforts, it naturally follows that we'd best be mindfully creating the consequence. And that would necessarily engender anticipatory excitement! The BIG question: is the mindfulness an individual mandate, or requisite requirement for everyone to take "ownership" of, and infuse observance with such anticipation? ! , Episode Thirty-Three We've spent the previous episodes clarifying an enigmatic Talmudic statement about diverting attention from the subject of Moshiach. Surprisingly, our Sages seem to view it as a virtuous and meaningful way to accelerate His coming. Suggesting that achieving mindlessness regarding Geula was an act, rather than a lack, of faith! After conclusively demonstrating that a literal iteration of this teaching is untenable with Torah tradition, and would in fact, prove to be contradictory -- we went on to explain the Gemara in variety of kindred yet unique ways; all reflecting authentic Torah truisms.
