Lane filtering - Benefit or Bane?22 Jul 202400:16:56

Lane Filtering has continued to expand where it is legal in the United States over the past decade. From just California in 2016, five states made lane filtering legal by the end of 2023. Colorado and Minnesota are joining those states to make lane filtering legal in 2024. With seven states now making lane filtering legal and several more considering it, have we finally hit the point of it no longer being a debate?

There is still much controversy about lane filtering. Advocates claim it reduces traffic and injury benefits, while critics disagree and say it is dangerous and startling to other motorists and more likely to cause accidents.

American Motorcyclist Association is in favor

Health Benefits of Drinking Coffee15 Jul 202400:09:24

You love the flavor & the experience of drinking coffee.  Maybe it’s good for you too?

In this episode of the Throttle & Roast podcast, the potential health benefits of drinking coffee are discussed.   We learn that coffee contains antioxidants and active substances that can reduce inflammation and protect against diseases. Studies have shown that coffee drinkers are less likely to die from coronary heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney disease. Furthermore, regular coffee consumption has been linked to a reduced risk of developing diabetes, heart failure, certain cancers, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, depression, and strokes. There are also indications that coffee may aid in effective sugar processing and reduce the likelihood of cognitive decline. These findings suggest that drinking coffee in moderation may have positive impacts on overall health.

Of course, riding a motorcycle is also good for you.

Motorcycles for leisure or transportation?08 Jul 202400:16:12

While Asia leads the globe in using motorcycles for transportation, the US focuses mainly on leisure, with nearly half of all motorcyclists riding less than 1000 miles per year!

This episode of Throttle & Roast discusses the differences between leisure riding and transportation riding. It explores how riding habits vary by region, such as in Asia, Europe, and the United States. In Asia, motorcycles are commonly used for transportation due to their affordability, while in Europe, motorcycles are used for both leisure and commuting. In the United States, Harley-Davidson is a prominent brand, and many riders focus on leisure riding due to the availability of larger, more expensive bikes. The episode provides insights into the unique riding tendencies in each region and the factors that influence them.

Jochen Zeitz's five-year tenure wraps up12 May 202500:23:12

Jochen Zeitz stepped down as CEO of Harley-Davidson after five years, having transitioned the company’s focus from expanding its demographic to catering to its traditional, older customer base. Originally joining the board in 2007, Zeitz took over as CEO in 2020 during the pandemic, implementing a strategy called "Rewire." This plan prioritized high-end touring bikes and cut back on lower-cost models and youth-targeted innovations, such as the Livewire electric motorcycle, which was spun off as a separate brand. While Harley had a strong market presence in 2019, Zeitz's tenure raises questions about the long-term sustainability of his approach in a rapidly changing motorcycle market.
