Three-Inning Save: Here come the road games

mercredi 10 juin 2026Durée 34:44

We take a look at the Dodgers upcoming schedule, which includes their two longest road trips of the year within a 5-week span. Couple that with a June slate that has only nine home games, we are in a road-heavy pocket of the schedule.

Plus, putting the recent mound exploits of Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, and Roki Sasaki into perspective, a look at the success of the Dodgers’ six-man rotation, and the joys of eating popcorn and/or other treats at the movie theater.

Three-Inning Save: Tyler Glasnow to 60-day injured list

mercredi 10 juin 2026Durée 28:22

The Dodgers moved Tyler Glasnow to the 60-day injured list over the weekend, pushing back his timeline for returning from back spasms until July 6 at the absolute earliest. Glasnow has been shut down from throwing.

With Glasnow and Blake Snell out, we compare the Dodgers rotation this year to 2025, when those two were injured midseason but returned by August, giving the team a big four starters they rode to a championship in October and November.

For now, the Dodgers have to first get through the next six weeks until the All-Star break, but with strong performances by Roki Sasaki, Justin Wrobleski, and Emmet Sheehan, the pitching depth is in a much better place in 2026.

Plus more on Nick Frasso, now back on the 40-man roster, what’s next for River Ryan, and more.

Three-Inning Save: Dodgers sweep opening series in Japan

Épisode 24

jeudi 20 mars 2025Durée 32:12

On this episode of the Three-Inning Save podcast, we recap the Dodgers winning two games over the Cubs to open the regular season at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.

The Dodgers Japanese star players all made an impact. Shohei Ohtani had three hits, including a home run. Yoshinobu Yamamoto started and won on opening day. Roki Sasaki made his major league debut and struck out three in three innings, though was pulled after five walks.

Even without Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman in the two games, the Dodgers offense found ways to score, more with patience in the first game and sheer power in the second game, including three home runs and three doubles on Wednesday.

Three-Inning Save: The book on Shohei Ohtani, with Bill Plunkett

Épisode 20

jeudi 6 mars 2025Durée 38:08

On this episode of the Three-Inning Save podcast, we talk with Bill Plunkett, author of the new book, ‘LA Story: Shohei Ohtani, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and a season for the ages.’.

Bill has covered baseball for four decades, including as a Dodgers and Angels beat reporter for a number of outlets. Currently he covers the Dodgers for the Southern California News Group.

Plunkett’s book chronicles Ohtani’s first season in Los Angeles, a whirlwind beginning with his free agency, to South Korea, to fraud and gambling debt by his longtime friend and former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara. Ohtani overcame that, even in a season in which he did not pitch, he won his third MVP award with the first 50-homer, 50-steal campaign in baseball history, and helped the Dodgers to a World Series championship in his very first taste of the postseason.
