Today, we quickly check-in with Founding Member and certifiable golf travel nut Josh Kemp.  Josh is in the middle of a one year marathon to visit 100 courses he has not yet played. Today, we dive into the world of member guest events.  My good friend and soon to be multiple time member guest partner, Nik Divakaruni joins me to discuss the finer points of formats, picking the right partner, strategy, and how to have the best time possible during these events.  While it’s still a little early in the season, it’s not a bad time to think about signing up for these events at your club.

Today, we venture to the Great White North and speak with Coppinwood member and consummate TG Host, Galen Udell.  Galen tells us about his own history trying to build a golf network, why he decided to join TG instead, and how it has made his golfing life better.  We also talk about rebuilding a golf swing after injury, how to get started in learning about golf architecture, and his experiences playing club matches in Scotland and Ireland.

Today, our guest is, Jim Chappell. Chappy, as he’s known by his golf buddies, is a Bay Area native who spent his career in high tech. Recently, he relocated to North Carolina to be closer to family and to his other love, college basketball.  We dive into the very early days of Thousand greens and hear about the founding story from one of the first ten members.  Be careful getting into a gin game with Chappy after a round though, you’ll likely leave with a lighter wallet, but a wonderful set of memories.

Ryan can only be described as a character.  While wearing a flatbill hat and a T-shirt with a giant print of Tiger Woods, He took our interview from his sprinter van he was driving down the California coast on a golf trip.  He describes himself as an Executive Professional, an aspiring - if not somewhat delusional - amateur golfer, a husband, and father.

Izzy signed up to the be the very first Founders Club member when the program launched.  When asked to describe himself, he passed on the usual “what you do, where you’re from” spiel and said “I have a unique name that people don’t forget” and  “I’m the guy that knows everyone, but no one’s ever met me” He’s also lived all over the U.S. without ever buying a home.  Instead, he appears to have collected a number of wonderful golf clubs.
