| "THIS Album..." Trailer | 29 Dec 2024 | 00:02:20 | |
This is it, this is happening and this is what you can expect from THIS Album....
| Episode 1 - Beatles Dub Club - The Beatles, Abbey Road | 03 Jan 2025 | 00:47:54 | |
Episode 1, this is it, this is happening! You find us launching the podcast with one of “THE” albums from a niche little upcoming group called The Beatles. Maybe you’ve heard of them? This episodes guest was beyond a delight, he’s a Glastonbury legend that is more than qualified to discuss the Fab Four. Listening back, we sound like we’ve known each other for years, but it’s the first time Chris and I had met! What a guest…. If you like what you’ve heard, or you have some opinions that we’ve not covered then drop me an email on williamhann86@gmail.com and follow me on the socials.
| Episode 2 - Stu Whiffen from Off The Beat and Track Podcast - R.E.M. Green | 10 Jan 2025 | 01:12:20 | |
Welcome to episode 2 of "THIS Album..." Woah, what a mad week it's been! For a couple of days there, little old William Hann was at number 1 in Spotify's Music Podcast chart! Truly mental. Thanks so much for listening, sharing, and for the 5 star reviews (a pox on the houses of the one miserable git that gave a 1 star!) But we're just getting started, on to the next one. Episode 2 we are joined by a giant of Essex nightlife and a podcasting polymath. He's the host of Acceptable in The 80's. He's the host of Off The Beat and Track, He's the host of Tell Me About It He's the host of Hardcore Listing He's the host of The MMA Fan Show But for your listening pleasure today, he's a guest on "THIS Album..." and we're discussing Green by REM. But we also talk about the time Stu became the front man of REM, the time Football "Came home!" during a Nick Cave set and ask the question, how much mandolin is too much mandolin?
| Episode 3 - Sophie Sveinsson from Radio X - Tori Amos, Little Earthquakes | 16 Jan 2025 | 00:45:05 | |
For episode 3 of "THIS Album..." I am in the hands of a real broadcasting expert. Sophie is the voice of weekend mornings on Radio X and gave me an education on the piano virtuoso and mushroom enthusiast, Tori Amos and her debut album, Little Earthquakes. We discuss Pen Pal boyfriends, miming to No Doubt and attempt to answer the big question "what's so amazing about really deep thoughts."
| Episode 4 - Harry from 22 Grand Pod - The Paddingtons, First Comes First | 23 Jan 2025 | 00:56:08 | |
Hold your Ipod mini in the air and light a cigarette indoors, because for episode 4 we are discussing the best thing to come out of East Riding of Yorkshire since Emmerdale and bad weather. It's The Paddingtons! I'm joined by a man that is more then equipped to deep dive the scuzzy icons. Harry is the host of the 22 Grand Pod where he'll discuss all things indie with an array of landfill avoiding legends of the era. Not only do we discuss The Paddingtons powerhouse debut album, First Comes First, we also talk about the dangers of wearing yellow skinny jeans on a high street, all nighters from Arctic Monkeys and when house parties go a bit too far. Give Harry and I a follow on the socials and if you could also give a 5 star review to us both it REALLY helps bump things up the charts. Enjoy as irresponsibly as you see fit!
| Episode 5 - Jess Greenfield From Noel Gallagher’s HFB - Alanis Morisette, Jagged Little Pill | 30 Jan 2025 | 00:52:05 | |
Is it Ironic? Do You think? And does it even matter? In today's episode I'm joined by Jess from Wonder 45 and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. I was lucky enough to spend time over Zoom with Jess where we get to deep dive one of the biggest albums of the 90's. However, the technology failed us towards the end, but it actually added a bit of fun chaos to the show. We also touch on Glastonbury, straddling the two worlds of Camden and boarding school. We also discuss irony. Or the lack of it. Enjoy!
| Episode 6 - Matthew Crosby from Radio X - 100 Gecs, 10,000 Gecs | 06 Feb 2025 | 01:07:56 | |
Matthew Crosby is a comedian, writer, podcaster and Radio X DJ. His Sunday morning Radio X show with Ed Gamble has been part of my weekend routine for over 5 years now and I couldn't have been more excited to have him on the show...... until I found out which album we were covering.... We deep dive the bonkers Hyper Pop duo 100 Gecs and their second album, 10,00 Gecs. We also talk about kids tv, radical acceptence and ask the big question, are Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds "a laugh?" No shade to previous guests, but bloody hell, this is the best one yet. Matt was fantastic company and you are going to love this episode, even if 100 Gecs are not your thing.
| Episode 7 - Russell Lissack from Bloc Party - Weezer, The Blue Album | 13 Feb 2025 | 01:00:07 | |
There’s no doubt about it, Bloc Party are one of the best bands of their generation and I felt incredibly lucky to get to spend an hour talking to their iconic guitarist Russell about one of his favourite albums, Weezer. Russell was incredibly honest during our chat and we discuss the loneliness he felt as a teenager. We also discuss the accidentally genius marketing from Weezer and we celebrate 20 years of Bloc Party’s debut album, Silent Alarm.
| Episode 8 - Julian GK, Rancid ...and Here Comes The Wolves | 20 Feb 2025 | 00:36:41 | |
For episode 8 of THIS Album, I am joined by rising Pop Punk Superstar Julian GK and we are diving into the 90's Californian Punk scene via the scene's flag bearers, Rancid. But not just Rancid, we discuss Julian's journey from Costa Rica to London, compare the punk scene from both sides of the pond and we question the validity of Mario Balotelli's mohawk. To put it lightly, we cover a lot of ground and this is an absolute must listen for lovers of punk or the punk curious. Listen loudly and enjoy responsibly.
| Episode 9 - Elliott Andrews - Interpol, Turn on The Bright Lights | 27 Feb 2025 | 00:47:43 | |
For todays episode of the podcast I am joined by a man who’s ever changing career in the music and comedy industry has seen him work with an array of national treasures. He’s even worked with the band that we’re discussing today, the almighty Interpol and their seismic debut album, Turn On The Bright Lights. Though I’ve known Elliott for a long time, it’s not as though we’re best mates and I can’t pretend to know him too well. But bloody hell, we got on like a house on fire for this recording! It was one of the most effortless conversations of the show so far and we had a proper laugh. We discuss life on the road with The Maccabees, the functionality of braces while drumming and ask the big question, do Interpol still wear suits on stage during record breaking heatwaves?
| Episode 10 - Will Gamble - Bombay Bicycle Club, I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose | 06 Mar 2025 | 01:01:12 | |
Double digits baby! Episode 10 of the podcast sees me joined by modern media icon, Will Gamble! Will is someone who has been appearing on my algorithm for a while now, but I didn’t really know anything about the man behind the microphone and I was unsure if he was even going to be a good guest…. Wow, did I underestimate him! His love and knowledge of music was unbelievably impressive. We got on like a house on fire and he was probably the easiest I’ve gelled with a guest yet. We discuss Antoine Greizmann, the sanctity of physical media, and I think we have an exclusive….. this may be the first podcast to ever mention Party Shank, Primark in Harrow AND David Gilmour. We cover a lot of ground. Enjoy! Oh! And we also talk about Bombay Bicycle Club’s debut album!
| EMERGENCY PODCAST!!! Glastonbury 2025 Lineup Deep Dive With Ben Randm from Silver Tongued Rascals | 08 Mar 2025 | 00:51:02 | |
Come for the hot takes on The 1975 and Neil Young, stay for the incredible Libertines and Caribou anecdotes. Ben and I have many a Glastonbury under our belts. One of us loves the line up, one of us less so. But obviously, it doesn't matter who's bloody playing when it's at the greatest festival on earth! Best enjoyed with warm beer.
| Episode 12 - Wohdee - Lisa Left Eye Lopes, Supernova | 13 Mar 2025 | 00:48:09 | |
Woah, Hi, Hello! Episode 12 sees me joined by the best rapper to come out of The Midlands for a generation, it's Wohdee! Wohdee was not messing about and picked the most niche album of the series by a LONG way... It's an album that's not on streaming services and was only released in 4 countries. So as you'd imagine, it's got a hell of a story to it and so does Wohdee! This is a must listen for anyone that's into 90's R&B, UK Hip Hop or of hearing a millennial white man sound 1000 years olf for using the word "naff."
| Episode 13 - Jake Farrell from The Screenrot Podcast - Real Estate, Days | 20 Mar 2025 | 01:05:08 | |
We're at episode 13 and I think this might be the best one yet! Jake is one half of the team behind the Screenrot podcast which is easily my favourite podcast of the moment. Having listened to so much of his content over the last 9 or so months, I was confident he'd be a perfect guest and have a great album to discuss. He did not disappoint! Real Estate's second album is a woozy dream like time capsule of a summer that never existed. Jake and I deep dive not just the album, but melancholoy, nostalgia and Seasonal Affective Disorder Synrdome. Naturally. It's also VERY silly. It's fun, it's neurotic and it's a must listen for any milennial man that's ever over romaticised the joy of smoking fags and drinking beer with your friends when you were younger.
| Episode 14 - Ben RandM from Silver Tongued Rascals - N.E.R.D, In Search Of.... | 27 Mar 2025 | 01:08:27 | |
Yorkshire! Yorkshire! Yorkshire! Ben RandM is a “vibe architect” and the most charismatic man I have ever met. This is the first time we’ve properly met and it felt like a spiritual aligning. In the episode we discuss early 00’s fashion, Ed from Friendly Fires and nerd culture. If you enjoy listening then make sure you check out Ben’s band, Silver Tongued Rascals ✌🏻
| Episode 15 - Robin Allender - Soundgarden, Superunknown | 03 Apr 2025 | 01:06:36 | |
Episode 15 see's me joined by Bristolian Podcasting polymath, Robin Allender! His level of expertise, wisdom and intelligence have seen him tackle podcasts on subjects as varied as pubs, The Beatles and general. And despite the life changing effect The Beatles have had on him, he decided to go grunge. But it's not just flannel and self loathing, we discuss topics as varied as Brazilian Goalkeepers, rock time signatures and regional terms for "person that likes rock music and dresses accordingly." It's a right laugh and it's available now!
| Episode 16 - Rob Power - Elvis Costello, My Aim Is True | 17 Apr 2025 | 01:49:18 | |
Episode 16 see's me joined by a man that is capable of the impossible.... Rob Power has the capability (power?) to get an acoustic guitar out at a party and NOT make toes curl while a room full of people look at their cans and hope it ends soon. He's been a long serving and suffering friend of mine for nearly 20 years and is by far the most remarkable song writer I've ever come across. This summer he gets to prove me right and will release his debut solo album! So I figured I'd get him on the show to discuss his upcoming release and an album that he literally lent me his copy of, back when people had CDs. We also discuss Elves, The Beatles and why you should always introduce yourself to someone with a good haircut.
| Episode 19 - Nick Kivlen from Sunflower Bean - Elliott Smith, Figure 8 | 08 May 2025 | 00:33:58 | |
For episode 19 I'm joined by one of the best guitarists to come out of New York City in a generation, it's Sunflower Bean's Nick Kivlen! Sunflower Bean are a decade into their career and are hot on the campaign trail with their latest (and probably best) album to date, Mortal Prime Time. Nick kindly invited me to record in the bands tour bus before their show at Rough Trade East and we go in on Elliott Smith's fifth album, Figure 8. We also discuss, touring with Diiv, guitar techniques and private British slang. The podcast ends a little abruptly, sorry about that! I lost a load of my notes for a final feature I'd arranged and the bus turned into a bit of an oven so we had to make an escape, haha. If you enjoy Nick on the podcast then make sure to give Sunflower Bean's glorious new album a listen and catch them when they're back on tour in the UK this Autumn.
| Episode 18 -Sean Murphy O'Neill from Courting - Frank Ocean, Blonde | 01 May 2025 | 00:53:33 | |
Episode 18 of the podcast sees us take on one of THE biggest albums of the the previous decade.... Frank Ocean's Blonde was a seismic album with truly incredible levels of depth. Luckily, my guest was more then qualified to talk about it. Sean's band Courting have released 3 genre pushing albums with plenty of Frank influence and their latest (Lust for Life, Or: 'How To Thread The Needle And Come Out The Other Side To Tell The Story) has deservedly received numerous glowing 5 star reviews. I couldn't have been happier to have him on the podcast. But not just Frank Ocean, we also discuss, the magical sweet spot of 3 pints, Sopranos cameos and how Courting's blue print was always to "chase the sunshine."
| Episode 17 - Robbie Furze from The Big Pink - The Big Pink, A Brief History of Love | 24 Apr 2025 | 01:07:07 | |
For todays episode of the podcast I am joined by a man that gave the world one of the biggest chorus' of the 00's. It's Robbie Furze from The Big Pink and we are going fully meta because we are discussing The Big Pink's debut album! He's a man that's gone from living in his van and playing in squats, to receiving million pound advances and travelling the world. Robbie also shares a massive exclusive with me featuring two of the biggest and best "Jamie's" in the industry.
| Episode 20 - Tom Clues’ Rock and Roll CV Deep Dive | 15 May 2025 | 02:02:18 | |
I consider myself a flexible man. When todays guest and I spoke about him being on the podcast, he quite rightly suggested that instead of the normal format of picking an album, we'd instead dip into Tom's illustrious Rock n Roll CV. Tom's been a guitar tech for some of the best bands on the planet for 25 years and has incredible stories from his time on the road with...... deep breath...... The Pretenders, Cat Stevens, Foals, Haim The Wombats, Art Brut, The Maccabees, Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling, Noah & The Whale, Kim Wilde, Cardiacs, The Magic Numbers, The Rakes, Martha Wainwright, Frightened Rabbit, Infadels, Kelis, Goldfrapp, The 1975, Seal, Emilie Sande, PJ Harvey and Sugababes. I also share my Gem Archer, Eddie Argos and Wombats anecdotes. It's a bumper episode and despite the HEAVY editing process, it still comes in over 2 hours. If you want the unedited version with the bumper 30 minutes that were left on the cutting room floor then drop me an email with a signed NDA to williamhann86@gmail.com For the rest of you, enjoy!
| Episode 21 - Georgie Rechner aka Grow With Georgie - Radiohead, OK Computer | 22 May 2025 | 00:57:46 | |
For episode 20 I am joined by a woman that has taken Instagram by storm in 2025. Georgie is not just an influencer, she’s an advocate for muscle building woman, a voice for perimenopausal women and is redefining what it means to turn 40 for people all over the world. But also, she's one of my best mates! We've known each other for 19 years and in this episode you'll get to hear a pair of millenials over romanticise life pre iphone and talk about how Thom Yorke predicted the future with this ground breaking record. But more then that, we discuss teenage snogging (or lack of) at bible camp, being made to cry by your personal trainer and partying with Alex Turner in Ibiza. Come for the Radiohead chat, stay for two old mates waffling on like old biddies about when they were young.
| Glastonbury Special! Glastonbury 2005 Line up Deep Dive with Harry from 22 Grand Pod | 29 May 2025 | 00:45:19 | |
“ALRIGHT GLASTON-BERRY?!!” Glastonbury is the best and most diverse festival in the world. Deftones into Charli XCX? Welcome to Worthy Farm my Friend! Fancy a bit of Turnstile to go with your AJ Tracy? The Eavis’ will make it so. A slice of Ethiopian Jazz to go with your mid morning Techno, sir? God bless Glastonbury… But has it always been that way? I took the opportunity to chat to friend of the show, Harry from 22 Grand Pod and deep dive the 2005 Glastonbury line up. There’s mud, there’s cancelled artists and there’s a LOT of white guys with guitars. LOADS of white guy with guitars. Like, an insane amount of white guys with guitars!
| Glastonbury Special! Glastonbury 2008 Line Up Deep Dive with Marie Morgan | 05 Jun 2025 | 01:39:53 | |
We're breaking the format today and with the biggest weekend of the year just round the corner, the only thing I want to talk about is Glastonbury. So for this weeks episode I'm joined by a good friend of mine and a Glastonbury veteran, Marie Morgan! 2008 was a huge new chapter at Glastonbury and there was much to discuss. We talk, Indie Landfill, different kinds of white men with guitars and a first glimpse of..... DIVERSITY! Come for the heavily censored correspondence, stay for the incredible Peter Doherty story. It's a loads of fun and is best enjoyed with a warm can of Tuborg.
| Glastonbury Special! Glastonbury 2011 Line Up Deep Dive with Gene James Smith | 12 Jun 2025 | 01:42:09 | |
Welcome to episode 3 of the Glasto deep dive series! With Glastonbury drawing ever nearer we’re taking a look back at another bumper year on Worthy Farm. Joining me to deep dive the 2011 line up I s a man that can outlast the Energiser Bunny on the dancefloor, it’s one of my best bloody mates, it’s Gene James Smith! Glastonbury 2011 was a huge year. There was Pulp, there was Coldplay (there always seems to Coldplay….) there was Beyoncé and there was tax dodging headliners U2. Sounds great right? …..Right?
Come for the mud chat (there was a LOT of mud) stay for two old mates waffling on about “the past.” ❤️❤️❤️
| Glastonbury Special! Glastonbury 2022 Line Up Deep Dive With Gene James Smith | 19 Jun 2025 | 01:09:05 | |
The boys are back in town.... After realising what a truly awful experience Glastonbury 2011 was, we figured we absolutely have to find some positivity. So we turned the mics back on, pulled a few more cold ones out of the fridge and decided we look back to a slightly more recent Glasto to deep dive. It just so happened to be my favourite ever Glastonbury… There was a Beatle, there was a Gallagher, there were Foals and there were friends.....😍🤝🏻❤️ I’ve loved doing these Glastonbury deep dives and if you’ve enjoyed listening, then let me know! Enjoy irresponsibly and hopefully this should make you suitably excited for Glastonbury 2025!
| Episode 34 - James C from The Oasis Podcast, Another Side of Bob Dylan | 14 Aug 2025 | 00:41:55 | |
For episode 34 I'm joined by a man that is in the thick of the cultural zeitgeist, it's James C from The Oasis Podcast! They said it would never happen, they said it would never see the light of day, but the time is right - and the time is now. Finally, I'm releasing the first EVER episode of "THIS Album..." that was ever recorded. James and I recorded over Zoom on a Friday night back in November and though I was clearly a bit nervous recording my first podcast, James' broadcasting expertise shone through and we had a LOVELY time deep diving the folk masterpiece, Another Side of Bob Dylan. Yes, I know what you're thinking, "Mr Oasis choosing an album that isn't by Oasis....?!!" But James decided (understandably) to swerve the bus man's holiday and branch out into non Gallagher related territory. If you want to hear James talk about Oasis, I've got great news for you! He's got 8 years worth of episodes covering Manchester's finest, readily available wherever you find your podcasts. Hope you enjoy the episode, but please don't judge the host (me) too harshly, it was my first time hosting a podcast! Stay in touch, stay engaged and Stay Young.
| Episode 33 - Alfie Jackson from The Holloways - The Holloways, So, This Is Great Britain? | 07 Aug 2025 | 01:11:21 | |
For episode 33 of "THIS Album...' I'm joined by a man that dominated the life and times of a generation of skinny jeaned millenials. From the Holloways, it's Alfie Jackson! Throughout 2006 and 2007, The Holloways had a strangle hold on my social life. If I wasn't going to their own headline shows, I'd be in the same clubs as them every weekend (often twice a weekend!) it truly was the best of times. When Alfie and I spoke about him being on the podcast, I pretty much forced his hand and told him 'We're covering YOUR album." We have loads of fun discussing those joy filled days before iphones and the impact his album had on my life and his. The Holloways are back on the road this Autumn and during the episode Alfie reveals some VERY exciting news in the pipeline.
| Episode 32 - Rajiv Karia - Lightspeed Champion - Falling Off The Lavender Bridge | 31 Jul 2025 | 01:12:46 | |
New podcast day and it is a blinder! I’m joined by a man poised to take this year’s Edinburgh Fringe by storm — the brilliant Rajiv Karia, is one half of the twisted genius behind Zoners, the maddest and best bit of TV I've seen in years. If you are not a fan of mad coincidences then this episode will not be for you because bloody hell, there's a LOT of mad coincidences. When I invited Rajiv onto the show I had no idea we had so many mutual friends and shared experiences. His album of choice was an absolute joy to discuss, Lightspeed Champion's debut captured pivotal moments in both our lives which we get into on the episode. We also talk about the joys of Harrow insitution - Trinity, NME album rankings, oversized fluffy hats, and a legendary day in Shoreditch Park at the chaotic, glorious 1234 Festival. You can catch Rajiv live at the Pleasance Courtyard during this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, and his mind-bending work on Zoners is streaming now on BBC iPlayer. Best listened to while wearing a bright cardigan and lenseless glasses.
| Episode 31 - Anna Soden - Blondie, Parallel Lines | 24 Jul 2025 | 00:58:41 | |
For episode 31 of the podcast I'm joined by actor, musician, comedian and social media sensation, Anna Soden! Anyone that's gone near Tik Tok or Instagram over the last 12 months would have undoubtedly seen some of Anna's incredible work going viral and I feel super lucky that she would spare time to come on the podcast to talk with me. Anna's work touches (hilariously) on Glee, class divide, Glee, working in theatre, Glee, being at teenager in the 00's, Glee, gravy, Glee and of course, Glee. From enjoying so much of Anna's work it felt INEVITABLE that she was going to chose a Glee album to discuss on the podcast.... but no! She chose a genuinely brilliant and iconic album to deep dive, it's Parallel Lines by Blondie! Anna was such a dream of a guest and we have so much fun discussing the everlasting appeal of Debbie Harry, baby sitting for posh kids, Glastonbury (I always seem to talk Glastonbury!) and we also play a game of charades which definitely does not work on an audio format. It's available now at the link in bio or just search "THIS Album..." wherever you find your podcasts!
| Episode 30 - Truck Festival 2025 Line Up Deep Dive with Gene James Smith | 17 Jul 2025 | 01:12:11 | |
Hill Farm, we’re coming for you! This July, I’ll be making my first pilgrimage to Oxfordshire's Truck Festival and I'll be joined by a loyal crew of millennial indie obsessives that I call my friends. Truck have knocked it out of the park with this line up. There's Bloc Party, Kasabian, Fat Dog, Blossoms, Franz Ferdinand, Wunderhorse, Sports Team, CMAT… It’s indie heaven. To celebrate, I’m bringing back friend of the show and former guest Gene James Smith for a full deep-dive into the lineup—from the big-font headliners to the new bands that could soon be soundtracking the second half of my summer. We’ll also be comparing our Apple Music Replay: All-Time stats to see which tracks have been the most streamed by us for the last decade. The numbers don't lie, there’s a certain four-piece from Sheffield dominating my list. Are you going to Truck this year? Let me know who you’re looking forward to catching ✌🏻
| Episode 29 - Eleanor K - Phoebe Bridgers, Punisher | 10 Jul 2025 | 01:04:36 | |
I don't say this lightly, but this weeks podcast MIGHT be my favourite yet! For episode 29 of "THIS Album..." I'm joined by a woman who absolutely delivered the exact level of humour, emotion, vulnerability, honesty and silliness I'd always hoped for on the show. She's a member of Crystal Fighters, she's a solo artist, she's a Tik Tok sensation and she's a bloody right laugh, it's Eleanor K! Eleanor kindly invited me to her home studio in SE London and was a VERY generous host. I needed her to be. I was in all kinds of trouble on the day we recorded and was running on fumes having barely slept a wink the night before. But Eleanor was such great company, that she lifted me out of the fugue state that I arrived in. We talk Skeleton Outfits, admission for Museums and logistical problems with elaborate gift giving. Come for the Phoebe Bridgers chat, stay for the Capri Sun fiascos. But before you listen to the podcast, make sure you check out Eleanor's truly magnificent solo EP, Wonky, availalble wherever you stream bangers. Enjoy!
| BONUS EPISODE! Glastonbury Debrief with Marie Morgan and Various Friends of The Show | 07 Jul 2025 | 01:47:15 | |
Please sir, can I have some more Glastonbury content? Yes. Yes, you can. After a glorious 5 nights on Worthy Farm, it's only right we take some time to have a debrief. So I'm joined by a woman fast becoming my co host, it's the iconic and much loved Marie Morgan! We talk Kneecap, The 1975, Busta Rhymes, Fat Dog, Bob Vylan, Getdown Services, shit Circus acts, Olivia Rodrigo, The Maccabees and Brat Summer making way for Britpop Summer. What a weekend! We don't do it alone though, we have cameo's from friends of the show - Will Gamble, Chris Arnold, Bilal, Elliott Andrews and Tom Clues. Enjoy irresponsibly and Free, Free Palestine!
| Episode 27 - Brit Cult - Oasis, Heathen Chemistry | 03 Jul 2025 | 00:37:13 | |
There’s only one way I could mark the biblical return of Manchester’s most godlike of figures, with a bloody podcast! For Episode 27 of the show I’m joined by a man who has spent years bringing 90’s / 00’s iconography to the masses on Instagram. It’s Brit Cult! A lesser social media titan, might have gravitated towards the earlier era of Oasis but today’s guest has chosen the iconic but unfairly maligned Heathen Chemistry from 2002 to deep dive. We talk the songs, the sunglasses, the jackets and how the messianic Gallagher’s inspired a young Northern Irish boy in a provincial town to start living life with swagger. This was one of the first episodes I recorded and I couldn’t be more excited to finally share it with you. Apologies in advance, but the audio is a bit iffy. You’ll survive though.
| Bonus Episode! LCD Soundsystem / The Maccabees Debrief | 24 Jun 2025 | 00:19:27 | |
Hot on the trail of Glastonbury, I've just had one of the biggest weekends of MY LIFE! On Friday night I got to witness LCD Soundsystem turn Brixton into a joyous sweaty mess. Then on Sunday, it was the come back of the year (I definitley can't think of any other come backs this year....) it was The Maccabees in Berlin! It was such a joyous couple of days, I couldn't not mention it on the podcast. So here's a bonus episode recorded in a Berlin beer garden and BER Terminal 1.
| Episode 37 - Mike Wagstaff from Chartreuse - Modest Mouse, The Lonesome Crowded West | 28 Aug 2025 | 00:58:11 | |
With their second album Bless You and Be Well due for release tomorrow, I’m delighted to share that for episode 36 of the podcast, I’m joined by Mike Wagstaff from Chartreuse! Bless You and Be Well is a stunner of an album that was recorded in an incredibly remote part of Iceland by Sam Petts-Davis (best known for his work with The Smile) It see’s the band turn grief and trauma into a beautiful body of work. Mike was kind enough to invite me into his home to discuss the upcoming Chartreuse album and share his love of Modest Mouse and their breakthrough record - The Lonesome Crowded West. We also discuss The OC, underage drinking at Vagabonds, whammy bar techniques and paying Limmy to promote your band on twitch. Bless You and Be Well is released via Communion Records and is available at all good record shops or your streaming platform of choice from Friday the 29th of August. #Chartreuse #MusicPodcast #Podcast #ModestMouse
| BONUS EPISODE! Oasis Special - Why Do Oasis Make People Feel So Emotional? | 24 Aug 2025 | 00:24:28 | |
Something a little different today.... It's been a glorious summer and watching stadiums full of Oasis fans in my social media feed has been an absolute joy to behold. On so many occassions, there's been fans (mostly men) crying their eyes out at these shows. Me included! So on this episode I wrote a few words asking why Oasis so often have me and so many other people crying their eyes out. There's a few contributions from listeners , but it's mostly a solo episode. I'm really proud of this change from the normal format and would love to know what you all think of it. Unless you think it's shit, in which case keep it to yourself. Haha! | Episode 35 - David Chanell from The Fullertons - Kings of Leon, Youth and Young Manhood | 21 Aug 2025 | 01:01:12
Oasis? The Maccabees? Rilo Kiley? Wuf Lyf? The Rapture? It's been a year of big come backs. But not one of them has the cultural heft of today's guest's truly massive comeback. In the mid 00's David Chanell took a Hertfordshire town and injected heavy levels of indie to a place that was dangerously negelected in skinny jean wearers. With his clubnight (and indeed his band!) back to business this Autumn, it only felt right to get David on the pod to hear about how his band, The Fullertons, went from playing Walkabout in Watford to playing shows in Moscow. He picked an almighty riff machine of an album and in this episode, we talk about finding your tribe in independent music venues (shout out to Trinity!),having big hair and questionable scarf wearing. If you're not a fan of the cigarette smoking Southern riff merchants, then at least listen for my truly absurd intro to this incredible album, where I imagine a world in which the fourth Kings of Leon album didn't exist... Enjoy irresponsibly.
| Episode 39 - DJ Jimmy The Gent - Chase & Status, More Than Alot | 11 Sep 2025 | 00:48:36 | |
There's no doubt about it, cut me and I bleed indie, but for episode 39 we’re delving into a new genre for the podcast…. This show has allowed me to display my expertise and knowledge in all things 00's and skinny jeaned. But what was William Hann up to before he discovered The Libertines you may wonder....? Well I was either shacking out to DJ Hype and Brockie mixtapes on a casette walkman or double dropping Dillinja tunes with Total Science bangers on my brother's Technics 1210's. Yes, I was a proper Junglist and on todays episode I get to prove my D n' B credentials with a man that has been setting dancefloors alight since 2008, from the Depressed CEO Podcast it's Jimmy The Gent! Jimmy was a dream of a guest and I had so much fun inviting this total stranger to my hotel room to deep dive his emotional attachment to the debut album from Drum n' Bass pioneers Chase & Status. (what a sentence) We also discuss edibles in hotel mini bars, singing at record store staff to find a song and DJing to Gen Zers.
| Episode 38 - Tom McGreevy from Ducks Ltd - Orange Juice, You Can't Hide Your Love Forever | 04 Sep 2025 | 00:55:52 | |
This weeks episode see's me joined by the frontman of a Canadian band in the thick of a European tour. It's Tom McGreevy from Ducks Ltd! We have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs in this episode, but it's also the most anxious a guest has made me feel by a LONG way. Tom share's a truly incredible story about his band's first time playing a KEXP session....... honest to god, I'll be carrying the second stress of that experience for a long time to come! Tom's album of choice was an absolute joy to discuss. Orange Juice's 1982 debut was the blue print for so many of my favourite bands like The Maccabees, The Cribs and Mystery Jets, so there is much to discuss.... We also talk 6 Music Dad's, Basshunter inspired Scottish bangers and of course, Lisa Vanderpump. If you've not listened to Ducks Ltd yet, they released their second album, Harm's Way, last year and it is an exhilarating masterclass in indie jangle. It's well worth your time. Ducks Ltd's European tour is winding down, but I was lucky enough to catch them in London this week, I can't recommend enough that you make your way to whatever city they're playing in next. Enjoy this episode, enjoy Orange Juice and enjoy Ducks Ltd!
| Jake Farrell from The Screen Rot Podcast - SPECIAL LIVE EPISODE from West Hampstead Arts Club - Mystery Jets, 21 | 18 Sep 2025 | 00:52:20 | |
Jake's second appearance on the podcast was something very special. 40 episodes in and by a country mile, that was the best one yet. Never one to be held back by the line of questioning, Jake and I touched on a wide range of subjects as varied as teenage money laundering, bringing back Mephedrone and "The Indie Rip." We even mentioned his choice of album a little bit, the glorious 2008 masterpiece by Mystery Jets, 21. Hugest of shouts to everyone that came out to the stunning venue of West Hampstead Arts Club last night. I can't tell you how much I appreciate everyone spending hard earned money and getting out of the house to support the culture. We go again, pencil 12th of December into the diary for the next "THIS Album..." live show. If you've not listened to Jake's podcast, Screen Rot yet, then sort your fucking life out and get involved.
| Episode 42 - Sam Delaney from Topflight Time Machine - Prince, Lovesexy | 25 Sep 2025 | 01:07:43 | |
This is a BIG deal. Sam Delaney is Britain's TOP journalist and without a doubt, the nation's most prolific (and possibly best) podcaster. So I was in particularly good hands for this episode. The calibre of guests this last two weeks has been a dream, I've literally had the hosts of my two very favourite podcasts on the show, back to back. Where the fuck do I go from here?! On this episode Sam discusses his work life and the reward that comes from endeavouring to listen to challenging albums. But we also discuss, stealing Walkman's from a big brother, seeking musical approval from your kids, and we ask the big question, are girls from posh schools "dirty?" His album of choice was by the almighty Prince and we have blast discussing the myriad sexual references on an album that is supposedly about god. Classic Prince play... If you're not familiar with Sam's work, check out his work on Top Flight Time Machine and The Reset or pick up one his many remarkable books. Enjoy irresponsibly.
| Ben RandM from Silver Tongued Rascals - LIVE Episode from West Hampstead Arts Club - Bloc Party, Silent Alarm | 21 Sep 2025 | 00:45:14 | |
Part 2 of the first ever "THIS Album..." live show was a rollercoaster. It's fair to say that we got the Silver Tongued Rascals experience from Ben. We covered the big subjects like, giving a voice to the working classes, the ideal cornflake topping and mushrooms. LOTS of mushrooms talk. We also talk about one of the best albums of all time, Bloc Party and the truly seismic, Silent Alarm! Best enjoyed under the influence.
| Special Live Episode with Rob Power - Potenco, Historical Slang | 02 Oct 2025 | 00:46:50 | |
For this sepcial episode we're back at West Hampstead Arts Club celebrating the launch of Potenco's debut album. On the night Rob gave a stunning performance which will be available to listen to at some point, but for now stream this stunner of an album in all the place you stream your music. Historical Slang perfectly captures life as a father in your 40's trying to work out your place in the world and how to find joy in family and the simplicities of life. It's a gorgeous album and Rob is a very special talent. Always happy to make things about me, I also hosted a Q and A with Rob which you can watch and listen to right here. Enjoy!
| Episode 45 - Propstore Music Memorabilia Auction Extravaganza | 16 Oct 2025 | 00:39:07 | |
This might surprise listeners, but Podcasting is not my day job. Five days a week, I'm Sales Manager at London's Cumberland Hotel and on the 21st of October Propstore will be bringing their treasure trove of musical history to my place of work. It's only right I got them on the podcast to discuss.
| Episode 44 - Amy Matthews - Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess | 09 Oct 2025 | 00:59:21 | |
Episode 43 of the podcast see's me joined by the face of modern comedy and the voice of English history, it's Amy Matthews! This is definitely a top tier episode, Amy was an absolute joy to speak with and we had a LOT of fun talking about one of the best pop stars of a generation, the almighty Chappell Roan. But not just life affirming pop perfection, we also discuss Synesthesia, making scrambeld eggs with your partner and street dance. So yeah, we cover a lot of ground. Amy is about to release a genre-defying comedy album titled Commute with The Foxes on a gorgeous vinyl or classic MP3 via Monkey Barrell Records. You can catch Amy hosting the English Heritage Podcast and you can see her perform - I Feel Like I'm Made of Spiders on ITV X right now! Now if you need me, I'll be wearing a bodice, trying to learn the HOT TO GO dance while drinking port. Enjoy!
| Episode 46 - Felix White from The Maccabees - The Futureheads, New & Tributes | 23 Oct 2025 | 00:55:40 | |
Well this is basically what this podcast nonsense has all been leading up to.... Do I really need to introduce Felix White....? Amongst the MANY things that Felix does, he is in one of the very best bands to ever do it , The Maccabees. Getting to spend 60 minutes talking to a man who has had such a big impact on my life was a dream come true. Sure, a large part of this episode was me talking "at" Felix and telling him about the numerous times I've cried my eyes out at the countless Maccabees shows I've been to over the last 20 years. But we also talk Red Button anxieties, playing Latchmere when you're 50 and Oasis (naturally). Felix's album of choice is an underdog album from Sunderland's finest - The Futureheads. We have so much fun deep diving the often overlooked record that he so rightly champions. Felix is set to release his second book, Whatever Will Be Will Be - A Matter of Life and Football will be released on the 30th of October. If it's half as good as his previous book then this is going to be a very special read, so get that pre order in. It's available in some bad book shops and all good ones. You can listen to this episode at the link in bio or you can watch it on Youtube or Spotify, no need to take your Precious Time about it.
| Episode 47 - Louise Schofield - Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not | 30 Oct 2025 | 01:03:58 | |
I can’t believe it’s taken 47 episodes to get here, but finally we get to cover Arctic Monkeys seismic debut album - Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. An album this important requires a great guest and I was in VERY good hands for this one. From Spill The Sound and behind the decks of the indiest of discos near you, it’s Louise Schofield! Louise’s content is a joy to behold. On Spill The Sound Louise gives a platform for young bands to have the kind of MTV / T4 experience that those a generation behind took for granted. It’s also, a proper laugh and loads of fun. Louise and I had such great time talking about the impact four lads from Sheffield had on us. We talk haircuts, drinking in parks, first gig confessions, pre drinks in Nottingham. All the important subjects. Untuck those socks from your trackie bottoms, believe the hype and enjoy episode 47 of “THIS Album…!”
| Episode 48 - James Allen from Cultras Football Podcast - LCD Soundsystem, Sound of Silver | 06 Nov 2025 | 01:21:27 | |
"Who are ya?! Who are ya?! Who are ya?!" I'm William Hann, host of the podcast, "THIS Album..." thanks for asking. For episode 48 I'm joined by a man so passionate about football, he's actually created an award nominated podcast about it, from Cultras, it's James Allen! Jesus, where do I start? James, is a comedian, broadcaster, writer and actor and it was a joy to be welcomed into his home to discuss LCD Soundsytem's ground breaking sophmore album, Sound of Silver. Sound of Silver is widely considered to be one of THE seminal New York albums. In this humble podcasters opinion, it might just be the greatest album of all time. So this is a BIG episode. The album touches on hedonism, loss, friendship, growing up, gentrification, hipsterdom, escape, identity and it does all this with a level of gravitas and intelligence that was unrrivalled in the mid 00's or any era for that matter! So rather then discussing these things we talk about getting high on lemon sips, Liverpool's Ecru away kit in the 90's and regional table tennis tournaments on The Wirral. Best enjoyed home in the late night.
| Episode 49 - Tony McCarroll from Oasis and Kyle Dale from Bittersweet Home | 13 Nov 2025 | 00:22:26 | |
I have Oasis'd! When Propstore held the world's larger ever Oasis memorabilia auction at The Cumberland Hotel, Kyle and Tony were in town to take part in a Q&A happening ahead of the items going under the hammer. I'm a man of opportunity and was lucky enough to grab twenty minutes with the two of them to discuss all things from Boardwalk 94 to Live 25. Tony shared some great stories of his first drum kit purchase, the biggest compliment he's ever had for his drumming and the mad time he first met fellow Oasis drummer Zak Starkey. It's a break from the normal format and a bit shotter then normal, but it's a VERY fun one. Enjoy!
