How to Build Confidence Showing Up Online (Even Though the Internet is Scary) [SOLO Episode]17 Mar 202600:25:49

If I'm being honest, showing up online is something I still have to talk myself into sometimes, and I do this for a living!

This month on Thinking About is all about confidence, and this week we’re talking about the confidence to be online. So many of the people I talk to are carrying around the same fears about being online, and most of the time, they're holding themselves to a standard they'd never hold anyone else to.

So we're busting some myths, walking through what helps me (and the clients I've worked with), and hopefully leaving you feeling like maybe — just maybe — you do have what it takes to show up online. (I believe you do!)

In this episode, I'm talking about:

  • Why showing up online feels unnatural for pretty much everyone
  • Three myths that are keeping you from showing up
  • Why editing, practice, and time are the actual secret
  • Lowering the bar, finding an accountability buddy, recording on your best days, and treating content like a creative experiment
  • The "one person" trick

You know that feeling when you open your closet and nothing feels quite like you anymore? Maybe, ever since the pandemic, it's been a few years of sweats and working from home. Maybe your body has changed, your life has changed, and the clothes hanging in there feel like they belong to someone you used to be.

That's exactly where I was, and then Suzanne Colmer walked into my closet with her closet cleanse method and literally changed my life!

As one of Canada's premiere style and image consultants, Suzanne Colmer works with her clients to ensure they love their clothes and that their clothes love them back. She specializes in closet cleanses, size-inclusive personalized shopping, and Canadian curated capsule wardrobes that allow you to buy less and wear more. Often sought out by the media as a Canadian style expert, Suzanne has been featured locally on Global TV, and CBC and in the Globe and Mail and globally as Toronto's style consultant with Tourism Toronto.

Suzanne has a gift for making you feel seen, understood, and genuinely excited to get dressed again. I can’t wait for you to listen!

In this episode, we're talking about:

  • The first step to reconnecting with your style when you have no idea where to start
  • Closet cleanses are like cleaning out your fridge before you go grocery shopping
  • “It's not you, it's your clothes"
  • How to handle clothes you're saving for "someday"
  • Suzanne's philosophy for her own closet – and why she shops on a one-in, one-out rule
  • What "style words" are and why figuring out yours is a game-changer
  • How to actually finish an outfit
  • Suzanne’s take on trends
  • The one piece Suzanne thinks almost everyone should own (can you guess what it is?)

Personal Wins and Lessons from Q1 of 2025 [SOLO]04 Mar 202500:37:39

This week, we’re thinking about what’s working, what’s shifting, and how I’m easing into a new season after a busy start to the year.

In this solo episode of Thinking About, I’m reflecting on Q1 so far – the highs, the lows, and everything in between. January felt like a creative high, February brought heaviness, and now, stepping into March, I’m finally feeling lighter.

We’ve had some incredible conversations on the podcast this year about energy management, burnout, and redefining success, and I’ve been learning a lot from my own journey. Let’s chat about the personal wins and lessons that have shaped my year so far, plus a look ahead at what’s coming in Q2.

In this episode, I’m talking about:

  • The highs & lows of Q1 from creative energy to the challenges of February.
  • Being 100 days sober – what this milestone has meant to me and what’s shifted along the way.
  • Reflecting on the progress made in running events (one of my big goals for the year).
  • Creativity ebb & flows
  • Rest, delegation & letting go of doing it all
  • My workout routine & prioritizing movement
  • The little things making a big impact
  • What’s I’m focusing on for the next couple months

If you’ve been feeling like the year is flying by or if you’re still finding your groove, this episode is a reminder that things don’t have to be perfect to be good, progress happens in seasons, and every step forward counts.

Tuning Into What You Need Through Intentional Movement And Intuitive Eating With Linh Phan17 Jan 202301:04:26

Today, we're thinking about the overarching theme of the importance of tuning into you with Linh Phan.  Linh is the founder of Bona Fide Life Coaching and a body acceptance and intuitive eating coach. She grew up as a restaurant kid, working in her parents’ Chinese restaurant in small-town Canada from the age of 12. Food was the reason for her family to come together and connect and it was, and always will be, a love language for her. However, Linh realizes that many people have difficult relationships with food and she has made it her mission to raise awareness around diet culture and the harmful effects it has on people’s physical and mental health. Linh works one-on-one with people who struggle with shame and guilt around eating and helps them find joy and peace with food – and with themselves.

In the episode, you’ll hear about Linh’s journey to her current business after working in the financial industry, she walks us through diet culture, intuitive eating and her experience with intentional movement. We talk a lot about the changes we’ve seen in our own lives after we stopped living on autopilot. She gives us actionable tips on how to find validation within yourself, again something I’ve been working on heavily for the last while, how not to fall victim to the new year new you craze of January, finding ways to move your body that you actually enjoy, prioritizing yourself even when you’re busy, check in on yourself, and so much more.

From Burnout to Boundaries: How to Redefine Success Without Running on Empty with Roslyn McLarty of Within18 Feb 202500:37:33

If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly pushing, striving, and checking off the next thing on your to-do list—only to still feel exhausted and unfulfilled—this episode is for you.

This week, I’m joined by Roslyn McLarty, an executive coach and founder of Within, who helps high-achievers create sustainable success without sacrificing their wellbeing. After co-founding and scaling the sports media brand The GIST, Roslyn found herself deep in burnout, battling self-doubt, overwhelm, and exhaustion. Now, she helps others redefine their relationship with work, rest, and personal fulfillment.

In this episode, we’re talking about:

  • The real signs of burnout – and why most people don’t recognize them until it’s too late.
  • Why so many high-achievers feel like they’re never doing enough (and how to challenge that belief).
  • How to break free from hustle culture and trust that rest is productive.
  • Practical mindset shifts and nervous system tools to help prevent burnout.
  • How perfectionism and people-pleasing contribute to burnout—and what to do about it.
  • Small, intentional habits that create more ease in your daily life.
  • Roslyn’s journey from burned-out founder to building a business rooted in alignment and well-being.

This episode will give you tangible insights to redefine success in a way that prioritizes your energy, creativity, and well-being.

The Final Episode of 2024: Life Updates & My Lessons From The Year [SOLO]10 Dec 202400:28:49

As we wrap up 2024, I’ve been reflecting on the lessons this year has taught me and what I want to carry forward into 2025. It’s been a year of dichotomies—beauty and difficulty, joy and sadness—and I think there’s something powerful in learning to hold space for both.

The biggest lesson I’m taking away is that life can be really hard and really beautiful at the same time. There’s been sadness in my personal life and challenges in the world around us, but there’s also been so much to appreciate: sunsets, friendships, and those small, meaningful moments that remind me why we keep going. Learning to feel multiple emotions at once has been grounding and helped me navigate this year with resilience.

On a lighter note, I recently went through my camera roll and created a “Kirsti content” folder filled with videos and photos from the year—retreats, trips, sunsets, bachelorette parties, and meals I made. Revisiting these memories reminded me of the importance of finding glimmers—those small, beautiful
moments that make even the toughest days worthwhile.

I’ve also been thinking a lot about the content we create for ourselves. It’s easy to get caught up in creating for others (especially as a social media manager!), but documenting life for yourself can be a way to reconnect with joy and gratitude.

As I look toward 2025, I’m excited to lean deeper into community building, whether it’s through this podcast, social media, or live events. Thank you for being here with me through it all—I hope this episode inspires you to reflect on your own lessons and find your glimmers as we head into a new year.

See you in 2025 & happy holidays!

Somewhere between the girlboss era and a world that's constantly telling us to optimize, monetize, and move faster, I quietly forgot how to just... do something for fun. Not because it would make good content or even make me a better person.

Just because it felt good! Like, why can’t that be enough?

If your days have been blurring together too, or if you feel like you’re so restless you can’t even pay attention to a TV episode anymore, I feel you. Let’s do something about it! I cover a ton of ideas in this episode.

In this episode, I'm talking about:

  • My complicated relationship with my phone
  • Digital anhedonia: the reduced ability to enjoy real-world experiences after too much screen time
  • Why hobbies are actually identity work – and what they have to do with your inner child
  • The two big reasons hobbies matter: mental health and joy
  • Embracing the beginner's mindset and doing things badly on purpose
  • What I'm trying: diamond painting, coloring, craft afternoons, Duolingo, the library, cooking, Pilates, and my hobby wish list
  • Three questions to sit with this week

How To Use Your Social Media To Genuinely Connect With Your Community With Katie Campbell of Katie Creative Co.05 Nov 202401:08:08

In this week’s episode, we are thinking about the true power of social media and how to use it to genuinely connect with your community. We’re joined by Katie Campbell, founder of Katie Creative Co., a social media strategist and self-proclaimed social media therapist, who is dedicated to helping people create audience-centric content that fosters meaningful engagement. If you’re someone who’s struggled to make your social media content resonate or wondered how to stay authentic while building a community, this conversation is full of insights you won’t want to miss.

Katie shares how her lifelong passion for social media was cemented when she started a One Direction fan page, setting the stage for a career centered around the dynamic world of online connections. Throughout the conversation, she emphasizes the core purpose of social media: being social.  Katie also talks about her transition from a social media manager to a strategist, explaining her motivations and how this change has allowed her to focus more on strategy and audience engagement.

In a fun twist, I bring some of Katie’s social media posts to the table, asking Katie to break down her content philosophies. One standout principle Katie explains is that while your content is created by you, it shouldn’t be about you. Instead, it should be focused on your audience, using ‘you’ language to draw them in. She also reminds us that content carries energy: if you didn’t enjoy creating it, it’s unlikely your audience will enjoy engaging with it.

Katie’s golden piece of advice for this episode is about finding and building a community. She emphasizes that a strong, engaged community is at the heart of impactful social media presence and shares strategies for cultivating that sense of belonging. Tune in for a conversation packed with practical tips, a fresh perspective on social media, and ways to make content that truly connects.
