I talk about Kanye a few different times throughout this episode, and while he's been a huge focus of these last few shows, i will continue to mention him as my fascination with him and few select others will carry through many more. To say i'm obsessed with this whole this is an understatement, and i know that you are equally invested in these deep dives on the Diddy files. That this is where her spirit guides have been directing her to get to for so long. Are you intrigued?? Good - cuz so is she! Al goes through her thoughts on whether or not Taylor Swifts new face transformation could be contributing to her fans having low self esteem, a ding ding ding moment about Britney's iconc red jumpsuit, some thoughts about Sabrina Carpenter's new bangs and Travis Kelce's new nose and fillers...I wonder what Donna and Ed think about all his new changes?? This episode was recorded immediately following her laptop glitching and completely wiping the original episode she was 23 minutes into recording, but instead of crying about it (well there was a few tears) we're going to take it as a sign that she needed some redirection. Listening back to this she decided to rerecord because the mic wasn't close enough...so she rerecorded on Friday October 11th...for 3 hours. Stay tuned for that multi-part series of at least 4 episodes, but in the meantime she decided on releasing this anyways. FYI -there will be a bit of repetition and overlap cuz she kept thinking she wouldn't release the one before and kept getting stuck on certain things, but upon listening she's decided that there's enough important tidbits in all of them leading up to the breakthrough she had. In an attempt to get over my trauma from being raised in the Mormon church, I decided to fully commit to watching ALL of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and immerse myself in their lame ass drama. Lolzzz ... These Momtok girlies have the filled lips, child bearing hips and enough mood dips to keep us all guessing what they're up to next!
All I know is that the world is stoked for a S2, but will Momtok SURVIVE???!
When I first heard about the Mormon Momtok shitshow coming out, I was excited!! But I was expecting some real life swinging shit. The fact that they claimed to be "soft swingers" is hilarious to me cuz all I saw was a bunch of bored Mormon girls sitting around talking about their narcissistic husbands while they're the breadwinners form being influencers on TikTok.
It took me a couple try's to get into in but here's my "soft" take on episodes 1-3 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives along with some unsolicited advice about leaving and navigating the Mormon church...which I swear isn't my whole personality, but within the carpeted walls of my podcast, it's quickly turning into the majority of my personality.
From dealing with invites to baby blessings & mission farewells, fillers to sugary sodas, and the battle against individuality where short hair for sure = lesbian, also talking about the weirdest parts of Mormon culture. In this episode of "The Mid Mom Podcast", Al begins with promoting her Etsy shop, "Ur Mom's T's," admitting to having no sales and advertising her brand to her listeners. She then gets into her own personal fixations. Starting with her appreciation for Travis Kelce’s new and improved look, influenced by the one and only Taylor Swift. She touches on conspiracy theories surrounding their alleged planned breakup, and how much of it she is believing to be fact or cap.
The episode then redirects itself into a scandalous event where Al admits to lying about being pregnant in order to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Giving in to the fear and claiming to be taking one for the team for the wellbeing of her children. Al reflects on how her opinions and views on her decision may have changed since the pandemic and how confused she felt during that uncalled time of her life. Continuing discussing how her views have she changed, she touches on her thoughts as an exmo and how it has impacted her now after leaving the Mormon Church. She attempts to make this topic not her whole personality, however she is not succeeding at that.
Al draws connections between politics, religion, and celeb culture. Hinting at how they all have cult-like elements that reflect one another. She brings up how a recent invitation to volunteer at a politic event slid into her dm's, but declines due to being frustrated with the fact she will not be collecting a fat cheque after she does her time. Past issues arise and she mentions how this makes her feel exploited and how she felt during her mormon days.
Throughout the duration of this episode, Al's tone goes through stages of uncertainty and curiousity. She is reflective to her past decisions and how they have impacted her to this day, while maintaining her usual sarcasm and unhinged take on the world around her.
