A witty and heartwarming story about a Christmas emergency of epic proportions, The Great Christmas Dinner Plot tells of the lengths Santa and his elves will go to keep the spirit of Christmas alive... even when faced with a 20 mile per hour speed limit!

Come on a journey into Enfys’ dream world and discover those she meets on the way!  Y Freuddwyd Beryglus will take you on a dangerous adventure through perilous mountains, lava lakes and ruinous castles, as Enfys fights to find a way back home to the real world.

Dewch ar daith i fyd breuddwydiol Enfys, a darganfyddwch y cymeriadau y mae hi’n dod ar eu traws ar hyd y ffordd! Bydd Y Freuddwyd Beryglus yn mynd â chi ar antur drwy fynyddoedd gwyllt, llynnoedd o lafa a chestyll dinistriol, wrth i Enfys frwydro i ddarganfod ei ffordd adre i’r byd go iawn.

In summer 2020, Theatr Iolo ran a competition for children and young people between the ages of 7 and 16 to write an original ten-minute play. The competition was launched at a time when most children and young people were learning from home due to COVID-19 and provided a creative activity for children and young people whilst theatres were closed.

We received entries from many young people and enjoyed reading every single one of them! It was a difficult decision, but we are delighted to announce that the winning plays are The Wakey-Wake-Amatic by Esme (age 10), Home from War by Lauren (age 14), Two Worlds, One Meal by Faaris (age 13) and Cer i Ffwrdd by Rhiana (age 15).

The plays were originally set to be performed at the Sherman Theatre but, as theatres around the country remain closed, the four winning scripts have been recorded as audio plays that can be listened to at home or in schools on the Theatr Iolo podcast channel.

Lansiwyd y gystadleuaeth ar adeg pan oedd y rhan fwyaf o blant a phobl ifanc yn dysgu gartref oherwydd COVID-19 ac yn darparu gweithgaredd creadigol i blant a phobl ifanc tra bod theatrau ar gau.

Cawsom gynigion gan lawer o bobl ifanc a mwynhau darllen pob un ohonynt! Roedd yn benderfyniad anodd, ond rydym yn falch iawn o gyhoeddi mai'r dramâu buddugol yw The Wakey-Wake-Amatic gan Esme (10 oed), Home from War gan Lauren (14 oed), Two Worlds, One Meal gan Faaris (13 oed) ) a Cer i Ffwrdd gan Rhiana (15 oed).

Yn wreiddiol, gosodwyd y dramâu i gael eu perfformio yn Theatr y Sherman ond, wrth i theatrau ledled y wlad aros ar gau, mae’r pedair sgript fuddugol wedi’u recordio fel dramâu sain y gellir gwrando arnynt gartref neu mewn ysgolion ar sianel podlediad Theatr Iolo.

Tidy, by author and illustrator Emily Gravett, is one of our favourite children's stories - we love the inventive way it explores the importance of looking after our environment, the beautiful illustrations and the funny habits of a very neat badger!

Transporter tells  the  story  of  Maya,  a  girl  who  is  constantly  on  the  move.  We  meet Maya  as  she  stands  on  the  threshold  of  a  new  house  in  an  ordinary  city.  From  this  everyday  moment  an  epic  story  is  woven,  spanning  decades  and  continents.

 Maya - forever  thirteen - is  both  ordinary  and  extraordinary;  schoolgirl,  time  traveller, shaman.  Tales  of  classroom  conflicts,  flights  across  deserts,  ice  cream  dreams  and thwarted  revolutions  weave  together,  and  the  local  and  the  global the  personal  and political  collide.

In  a  year  that  witnessed  the  Grenfell  Tower  fire, an unprecedented  rise  in  homeless  families  in  the  UK,  and  entire  populations  on  the  move,  together  we  considered  the  questions:  What  does  home  mean?  Is  there  a safe  place  left  on  Earth?  How  do  we  navigate  our  way  through  a  world that  appears to  be  in  ruins?

Written  and  performed  by  Catherine  Dyson,  in  collaboration  with  Andy  Smith and Lewis  Gibson. 

Developed  through  Theatr  Iolo's  artist  development  programme,  Platfform, Transporter was  born  out  of  conversations  with  young  people  from  the  city  of Newport,  South  Wales.
