We are Francis and Brian, friends living in Boston who met running through the @heartbreak.bos run club. Since getting into running within the last year, we have both done a handful of races, including Brian running the 2024 Cambridge Half (1:32.26) and Francis running the Salem Wicked Half (1:38.04). Now, we’re both in the middle of training for our first full marathons: Brian will be running the @rhoderacesri Newport marathon on April 19th and Francis will be running the M&T Vermont City marathon on May 25!
We both think running should stay accessible, fun, and not too serious, so tune in every Wednesday to listen to us yap, make fun of each other, and share our wisdoms as we learn about marathon running. Available wherever you get your podcasts.

12: Running Really, Really Far with Rachel Ahlmark

This past Saturday, host Brian and Rachel crossed the finish line at the Rhode Races Newport Marathon, wrapping up a long winter of training in Boston. In this debrief, Francis sits down with Brian and Rachel to unpack their first marathon experiences. We discuss training challenges, the highs, the lows, race strategies, lessons learned, and dreams of future races.

In this episode, we dive into the heart of the Boston running community. We chat about what it means to be a coach, explore the roots of the current running “boom”, and discuss how to find training consistency in the chaotic whirlwind of everyday life. U.P. shares lessons learned from 15 marathons and gives us a special look ahead to Marathon Monday.
