The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom was announced in Tuesday's Nintendo Direct, a brand new Zelda game starring the titular character and a mysterious fairy named Tri who need to save Link and Hyrule! We get together and discuss our reactions to the trailer, the fact that we finally get to play as Zelda, what we think of the echo system, how fantastic the toy art style looks, our appreciation for Grezzo, and how stoked we are that it's 99 days and counting away! From there, we flip over and talk Four Swords coming to NSO finally with online play! We're also talking about everything else shown off in the Nintendo Direct, from Perfect Dark to Mario & Luigi to Donkey Kong Country Returns to, of course, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (if you want to hear Andy and the Omega guys' reaction to that trailer, check out their episode here!)

Would we rather the Zelda movie be awful, or not made at all? Would we rather leave out the Triforce or Master Sword from the next Zelda game? Would we rather the Hover Boots return or the Iron Boots? Would we rather all future dungeons are Divine Beast style or have every game take place in Breath of the Wild's Hyrule? Would we rather Zelda VR or Metroid VR? All this and so much more, PLUS some discussion about Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and Summer Game Fest! Come hang out with us, and FYI - no stream next week!

| Episode 320 - Answering Your Zelda "Would You Rather?" Questions (Part 1) | 03 juin 2024 | 01:16:04 | |
We have a really fun episode of the show for you this week! We asked for your Zelda-themed "would you rather" questions, and you guys delivered so much that we had to split the episode into two parts! A couple of the questions we had fun with include: would you rather get a brand new Zelda right away and wait for the Switch 2 for ten years, or vice versa? Would you rather play Tri Force Heroes solo or 100% Hyrule Warriors? Would we rather all future Zelda games are open world, or traditional 3D titles? Would we have rather had a more fleshed out Sky or more fleshed out Depths in Tears o the Kingdom? All this, plus a ton more! We're also giving our thoughts on the new Zelda LEGO, following up on our Definitive Ranking of the OG Legend of Zelda, and wishing everyone a happy Pride Month!

| Episode 319 - Definitively Ranking The Legend of Zelda (NES) | 27 mai 2024 | 01:02:14 | |
It's time to kick it old school with another entry into our Definitive Ranking series, this time, examining the game that started it all: The Legend of Zelda! We’re going through ten critical categories that make up the ingredients to a Zelda game – world, story, pacing, art style, dungeons, bosses/enemies, items, gameplay, extras, and music – and assigning them each a score to see how the original game stacks up against all of the legendary entries that came after it! Some of the scores will be no-brainers, while others might leave you scratching your head, so come along and play with us, and of course, be sure to share what you think! All this, PLUS a little movie talk, our favorite NES titles and more! Come hang out with us! Download!

| Episode 318 - Analyzing Every Direct Sequel in the Zelda Series | 20 mai 2024 | 01:12:49 | |
We're back this week continuing the discussion around Tears of the Kingdom, except this time, we're comparing and contrasting it to three other direct sequels in the Zelda franchise: Majora's Mask, Phantom Hourglass, and A Link Between Worlds! We go over what makes a game a direct sequel in our eyes, how each game changed up the gameplay from its predecessors, if there was enough new content to make the sequel feel distinct, and so much more! We're also covering the reaction to our Tears of the Kingdom anniversary episode, so come and hang out with us!

| Episode 317 - Tears of the Kingdom: One Year Later | 13 mai 2024 | 01:17:56 | |
It's hard to believe, but it's been one year since the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, so this week, we're reflecting back on the game and talking about how our thoughts or opinions have changed or been cemented now that the dust has settled. We discuss Tears' legacy as a sequel, as a standalone Zelda game, and where it ranks among our favorite Zelda games. Andy and Al both have strong opinions on the game, and they don't necessarily agree either, so get ready for a killer show! All this, PLUS we touch on Nintendo's announcement of the Switch 2 coming this fiscal year, what that means for the rest of 2024 and 2025, and our thoughts and fears surrounding that. | Episode 312 - Reacting to Zelda Dungeon's Spiciest Takes | 08 avr. 2024 | 01:23:33
Recently, our Zelda Dungeon Writing Staff released a feature that collected the various writers' SPICIEST Zelda hot takes, and just like we did on the podcast a few months ago, we're now reacting to each take and assigning it a SPICE meter. On the table: is the downfall timeline the only logical conclusion for the timeline to go following the events of Ocarina of Time? And speaking of that game, is nostalgia the only thing keeping it atop our Best Zelda Ever lists? Is Ballad of the Goddess and Saria's Song overrated? Would Twilight Princess be just fine without Princess Zelda? Are Mipha and Revali compelling characters? All this and so much more are discussed! Are these takes Eldin Hot, Hebra Cold, or somewhere in between? Listen to find out, and let us know what your own hot takes are!

Welcome to a nice and cozy edition of the show today, as have a chill time answering some of the amazing Daily Debates our Writing Team ha created! On the docket today: is 5-6 years between 3D Zelda games the new norm now, and if so, should it be? What's one of the more underrated themes in the series? What's our favorite piece of Zelda content in Super Smash Bros.? Why wasn't underwater exploration included in Tears of the Kingdom? Could the age of online play give Four Swords Adventures a second life one day? What era would be a good setting for another Hyrule Warriors game? And maybe most importantly - on a holiday weekend, what goes harder, mashed potatoes or scalloped potatoes? All this, PLUS we put a bow on Musical March Madness, and we wish a happy Trans Day of Visibility, and a happy Easter to all who celebrate!

Welcome to another episode of the show, where this week, we have the honor of closing out Zelda Dungeon's Four Swords Week celebrating the twentieth anniversary of the single most unheralded Zelda game of them all: Four Swords Adventures! Andy and Al recount their memories of the game from the time it was first announced, to the first time they played together at the Zelda Dungeon Marathon, and reflect on the things that held it back from being a huge sales success. We also talk about our favourite levels from the game, how Adventures helped popularize the 2D/3D hybrid graphical style popular now, and how we would change the game so it could be remade as an online title! All this, PLUS we talk some Musical March Madness and the cruelty of snow in March. Come celebrate with us!

| Episode 309 - Horizon: Forbidden West Compared and Contrasted Against Tears of the Kingdom | 18 mars 2024 | 01:35:45 | |
Welcome to the Zelda Cast, where this week, we're not really talking about Zelda! Well, that's not entirely true, but this week's show is all about the sequel to one of the best new franchises we've played in recent years: Horizon: Forbidden West! Listen as we explore our thoughts on what this sequel did differently than Tears of the Kingdom, being an open world sequel itself, and what areas Forbidden West did better, and what areas Zelda came out on top. Plus, we talk about the new machines, the character acting, the music, performance and accessibility, and much more, and then end it off with a SPOILER heavy dive into the story, the characters, and setting up for what comes next! Forbidden West and Tears of the Kingdom are two sides of the same coin, so consider grabbing it if you haven't already! PLUS - come listen to Andy's new podcast, The Spiteri's Review! We're conducting a good ol' fashioned boss ranking this week, and no Zelda game has a stronger selection of baddies than Link's adventure through the Twilight Realm! | Episode 305 - What We Want From the Next 2D Zelda Game! | 19 févr. 2024 | 01:05:58
The future of the smaller, quainter 2D Zelda games seems to be in question now that there's no dedicated handheld-only console, but never fear! We're keeping the hope alive by detailing things we would want to see from a new top-down 2D adventure! Everything is on the table as we look at things that games like A Link Between Worlds, Tunic, and Blossom Tales did well to get an idea of what we want. A new art style? Must have! An original setting outside of Hyrule? Yes please! Improved combat that utilizes lock-on and quasi-3D targeting? Where do we sign!? A cap on the number of dungeons in the game? That's debatable, but hear us out! We have a ton of different ideas on what the next 2D game could look like, so come and hang out with us and chime in with your own ideas! All this, PLUS some Nintendo Direct, Switch 2, and Xbox talk to get us started! Come spend your holiday Monday with us! Download!

What's up everybody? It seems that the announcement of the Switch 2 is imminent, so this week, the gang get together to talk about what we'd like to see from Nintendo's next console! Things like an upgraded dock, "transformer" controllers, official battery packs, revamped eShop, and Discord support are all discussed, PLUS we predict some of the games we envision the Switch 2 having in it's first year on the shelf (spoiler: unfortunately, neither of us are sure a new Zelda game is gonna be on that list)! We also talk about all of the rumors swirling around Xbox and Microsoft's future as a console publisher, the predicament of Game Pass, and the state of Microsoft's first party franchises. All this, PLUS a little Taylor Swift/Super Bowl talk, the differences between the NFL and the CFL, and the new Tears of the Kingdom sales figures released! Come hang out with us!

| Episode 303 - Live-Action Zelda Movie Pitches and Scenarios Examined | 05 févr. 2024 | 01:22:44 | |
While any news or announcements on the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie may not be forthcoming for a while, that didn't our Zelda Dungeon writing staff from putting together an amazing feature called Dreams for the Silver Screen: Our Zelda Movie Pitches where, as the title suggests, they laid out their best ideas and scenarios for the upcoming flick, so this week, we're reacting and analyzing all the great thoughts found in the article! We debate things like how much, if at all, should the Zelda flick stick to official game lore, if we would be interested in seeing Link's parents, if Zelda and Link should have a romantic, platonic, or something in between kind of relationship, and why comparing this movie to Lords of the Rings or a Studio Ghibli film will be setting oneself up for disappointment. This is just a fraction of the topics discussed, so come listen and weigh in on what you think works and what doesn't!
