This week we have Steph Edusei who is the Chief Executive of St Oswald’s Hospice, a large children and adults charitable hospice based in the North East of England. Steph has a wealth of experience in senior roles in the NHS, including managing hospital and ambulance services, CCG commissioning and Healthwatch services. She is an experienced, compassionate leader who sits on a range of boards, contributing to NHS system-wide developments.

Steph is a Director of the North East England Chamber of Commerce, and recently ended her tenure as Non-Executive Director of The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Steph is an integral part of her local community. She’s been a leader with Girlguiding UK for over three decades and holds the position of Chair at the Eliot Smith Dance Company.  Steph recently served as co-chair of The Angelou Centre; a Newcastle-based charity led by black women. The Centre offers training, counselling, and refuge support to those who need it most. 

As the founder of the ‘Black All Year’ podcast and associated events, Steph uses the platform to amplify black voices. She highlights the challenges that the community faces, as well as celebrating their success and achievements. 

In 2022, Steph was named Transformational Leader at the Northern Power Women Awards.

This was a really insightful episode, as we hear how Az parents his son & daughter equally, what he feels WiT allyship really means, how he supports his team at work and what he thinks the future of Women in Tech should shape up to be.

On this week's episode, we get to hear from Kirsty Butcher who is the Head of Salesforce Strategy at LexisNexis Risk Solutions. She's been in the company over 20 years, which is very rare in today's volatile job market. Kirsty shares what has kept her there for over two decades and how her vision for the role she felt she wanted in the early days changed and how she entered the technology arena. There's insight into how she raised two young children as a single mother, all whilst grasping new opportunity in the workplace with both hands!

In this first episode of The Women in Tech Perspective, Leigh sits down with Georgina Daniel, Head of Salesforce Technology at Hazeltree. 

You'll hear how she graduated with a degree in Politics at University to live up to her family's expectations, not knowing what path she wanted to follow in her career and starting a luxury candle business from scratch. By her own admission, she fell into Technology after her mum told her to get off her sofa and get a job. Georgina has navigated bullying in the workplace and was sent on confidence training early on in her career, which you'll hear is a massive contradiction to how well she talks about her journey into a senior leadership position in Technology today.
