HELPFUL DEFINITIONS:

ACE2 Receptors: ACE2 is a protein on the surface of many cell types. It is an enzyme that generates small proteins – by cutting up the larger protein angiotensinogen – that then go on to regulate functions in the cell.

Using the spike-like protein on its surface, the SARS-CoV-2 virus binds to ACE2 – like a key being inserted into a lock – prior to entry and infection of cells. Hence, ACE2 acts as a cellular doorway – a receptor – for the virus that causes COVID-19.

Lumbrokinase: Lumbrokinase is known for its ability to dissolve fibrin, which is a crucial component of blood clots. This ability makes it potentially useful in preventing and treating conditions related to excessive blood clotting.

Nattokinase: Nattokinase is an enzyme that's extracted from natto, a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans. Nattokinase is particularly known for its potential effects on blood circulation and blood clots.

The Krebs Cycle: The Krebs cycle is used by organisms that generate energy via respiration, either anaerobically or aerobically (organisms that ferment use different pathways).

M-Spike Protein: The M-spike, also known as monoclonal protein or paraprotein, is a marker in blood tests that indicates the presence of abnormal plasma cells.

HRV: HRV, or Heart Rate Variability, refers to the variation in time between heartbeats.

FAQ: How Can I Support My Lymphatic System?11 Jun 202500:07:58

Welcome back to the WellFuel Podcast with your host, Isabel Smith!

In today’s quick but impactful episode, Isabel is answering a question we hear all the time: “How do I support my lymphatic system?”

But instead of jumping right to supplements or herbs, Isabel urges you to pause and look deeper. Because more often than not, lymphatic congestion isn’t the root issue; it’s a symptom. And real support starts with understanding what’s going on under the surface.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Common root causes of a sluggish lymphatic system from pelvic floor tightness and liver/gallbladder stress, to toxin overload, histamine imbalances, surgeries, or plain old exhaustion.

Herbs that support lymph flow, like Cleavers Tea, Red Root, and Echinacea, and how to use them safely and effectively (always check with your healthcare provider!)

Gentle detoxifiers like Calendula and Burdock Root help clear stagnation without overloading the system.

Everyday tips for better lymph flow, hydration, minerals, electrolytes, proper elimination (yes, pooping matters!), and minimizing toxins in your clothes and environment.
Isabel also shares her personal experiences and favorite go-to products, making this episode both practical and approachable.

  • Episode Highlights:

    Start with the root:

Don’t skip to solutions; underlying causes like scar tissue, surgery, overactive histamine, or exhaustion may be blocking your flow.

    Powerful herbal tools:

  • Cleavers Tea: Easy to absorb and great for daily lymph support.

Red Root: A decongestant for lymph, spleen, and tonsils.

Echinacea: Boosts immune response and lymph drainage.

Poke Root: Potent, only use with medical supervision.

Calendula & Burdock Root: Gentle and effective support for detox and circulation.

  • Lifestyle & nutrition tips:

  • Start with minerals, salt, and whole food sources of electrolytes.

Don’t rely on caffeine to stimulate your system, support your kidneys and lymph gently.

Poop matters, elimination is key for detox!

Watch your toxic load, even tight clothes or synthetic fabrics can contribute to lymph stagnation.

Go slow with practices like lymphatic massage, listen to your body and move at your own pace.

What to Eat for Your Menstrual Cycle and When05 Mar 202500:24:52

Welcome back to The Wellfuel Podcast!

In this episode, Isabel explores the vital topic of hormone balance and how to optimize your nutrition and lifestyle during the phases of your menstrual cycle. She provides detailed insights into what to eat during the menstrual, follicular, ovulation, and luteal phases, highlighting specific foods and nutrients that can aid in reducing inflammation, supporting gut health, and regulating hormones.

Additionally, future episodes will cover related topics such as perimenopause and menopause.

This episode is a comprehensive guide for anyone looking to improve their cycle health through diet and lifestyle changes!

    Key Takeaways:

    • Importance of Consistency: Regular eating and sleeping patterns are crucial for maintaining hormone balance. Consistency is more important than perfection.

    • Circadian Rhythm and Hormones: The circadian rhythm influences hormone release, including cortisol and melatonin. Maintaining regular routines helps regulate these hormones.

    • Menstrual Cycle Regularity: Establishing a daily rhythm can lead to more regular menstrual cycles. This is particularly important during perimenopause, where irregularities can be made worse by poor routines.

    • Diet and Menstrual Cycle: Isabel discusses a simplified approach to diet based on the menstrual cycle, dividing it into four phases: menstruation, follicular, ovulation, and luteal.

    • Nutritional Focus During Menstruation: During the menstruation phase, it's beneficial to replenish iron, magnesium, and vitamin C. Foods rich in these nutrients include leafy greens, legumes, and raw fruits and vegetables.

    • Exercise and Hormones: Regular exercise timing can positively influence hormone levels by aligning with the body's natural cortisol release patterns.

Welcome back to The Wellfuel Podcast!

In this episode, I'm excited to be talking to Olivia Abrams, founder of TiCK MiTT! Olivia will be sharing her personal experience with Lyme disease and how it led to the creation of TiCK MiTT. ----------------

About Olivia Abrams & TiCK MiTT:

Olivia Abrams and her father enjoy spending a great deal of time outdoors hiking with their dogs and gardening at our home in Upstate, NY. Unfortunately, multiple members of their family and friends have been stricken with Lyme disease over the years, and they know what it means to struggle with the lifelong side effects of tick-borne diseases. It was from this struggle that the idea for TiCK MiTT was born!

They are deeply dedicated to raising awareness and reducing the cases of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases that affect countless lives. In pursuit of this mission, they have board and junior board seats at Project Lyme.

Additionally, they proudly partner with several organizations to raise funds and distribute TiCK MiTTs to individuals battling tick-borne diseases, helping them protect themselves and their families from further tick encounters. Furthermore, they sponsor Lyme disease conferences to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration within the community. Having witnessed the impact of tick-borne diseases on their own family and friends, they intimately understand the importance of educating others on this critical issue.
