In this deeply personal episode of The Veiled Path Podcast, I explore the lives and teachings of two of the greatest spiritual guides who have shaped my own journey: St. Ignatius of Loyola and Swami Vivekananda.

We examine Ignatius’ remarkable transformation from wounded soldier to founder of the Jesuit Order, the development of his Spiritual Exercises, and his profound method of discerning between spiritual consolation and desolation. Episode 3 traces the rise of Western esotericism from the hidden grimoires of the Middle Ages through the Renaissance occult philosophy of Agrippa, the angelic visions of John Dee, and the occult revival of Éliphas Lévi - culminating in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. As ancient systems of Hermeticism, Kabbalah, ritual magic, and mysticism converged into a modern initiatory movement, a new vision of the self began to emerge: one centered on transformation, will, and hidden spiritual power. But from within the collapse of the Golden Dawn, a controversial figure would arise who would carry these currents into an entirely new era - Aleister Crowley.

Episode 2 explores the three great foundations of Western spirituality - Egypt, Greece, and Israel - and how each shaped a radically different understanding of the self. From the Egyptian soul that must survive judgment, to the Greek discovery of the inner, rational soul, to the Hebrew self in relationship with God, this episode traces the evolution of what it means to be human and various ways different ancient Western societies have understood their own identities. 

In this episode, we discuss the origins of the spiritual notions of the "Self" across early Shamanic, Hindu, Buddhist, and Taoist philosophies, how they influence and relate to each other, and how this concept is contrasted among each of them.
