This year was my 15th in business.

Over this time my business has evolved and grown significantly. But looking back, I think it’s perhaps myself who has grown, and therefore my business along with me.

 

I remember my ‘Why’ when I started, was simply to be able to ‘keep my hand in’ while I took a career break to raise my 5-month-old baby. That baby is about to turn 16 and has recently started her own career in finance!

 

As we come to the end of the year, I started reflecting on how my year has gone. Which prompted me to also start reflecting on my biggest lessons from the last 15 years.

#185: 2023 Year in Review - Biggest Wins and Lessons27 Dec 202300:16:38

It's that time of the year when our thoughts start to move to what we want to achieve in our business in the year ahead.

But before we do, there is a lot of power in reflecting on just how far we've come in the current year. What we've learned and what we've achieved. It's the first step that I outlined in the Planisodes.

Despite this, last week I caught myself reflecting on how fast the year has gone this year. My first instinct was to remind myself of all the things I didn't achieve, or that I still have to do.

Thankfully, I caught myself in time and instead reflected on all the things that I have achieved. In just a few minutes I went from feeling down and anxious to feeling actually quite proud!

In today's episode, I share these highlights with you, as well as my biggest lessons too. Here are my highlights from 2023:

✨ I became a covergirl for the first time, appearing on the cover of Speakers Magazine.

✨ Continued to speak and deliver workshops on networking, based on my book A Shy Girl's Guide to Networking. I love that these lessons keep inspiring and helping people. I'm looking forward to continuing in 2024.

✨ I created and delivered the Dream Clients Summit. An amazing 5-day experience to help business owners start and grow their dream business.

✨ I became the Value Whisperer and launched the concept of Value Whispering - work that will be the foundation of everything I do in 2024.

✨ I judged the Great American Speak-Off in Las Vegas (from my office in Switzerland 😉)

✨ Continued to run my regular free Value Sessions. Free events for my community of business owners to help them network, build their skills and practice communicating their value.

✨ I also revamped my signature programme: The Dream Clients Blueprint to bring in the lessons I've learned from guiding people through the programme for the last five years.

✨ And I was awarded 'Most Influential Female Business Coach (Europe) for the third year in a row.

Looking forward, there is one big change on the horizon, as I rebrand all my content around my Value Whispering approach to marketing and self-leadership. And I'm looking forward to publishing my book on the same topic - please do keep me accountable for this!

A former public finance auditor in her native Romania, Andrea has undergone a metamorphosis since arriving in Switzerland in 2003. After gaining a MAS in European Politics at the University of Geneva, Andrea joined the non-profit sector, working to support female careers (Board member - OWIT Lake Geneva) and promoting sciences among young girls (co-founder - Expending Your Horizons).

Aware of the particularities of the Swiss job market affecting women, Andrea dedicated 5 years to a career consultancy company, as a business manager, working to support the professional integration of foreigners into the Swiss job market.

A mother of two daughters and passionate about supporting younger generations, Andrea has been mentoring young Master's students at UNIGE for over 12 years (UNI Emploi Mentoring Programme).
