| Ep. 39 - The Games We Play In Love & Dating | 15 Aug 2026 | 01:11:08 | |
This episode is a raw, wide-ranging conversation with Simone Demanuele about attraction, relationships, dating, validation, projection, power and some of the more uncomfortable realities of how people relate to one another. We explore what attraction actually is, and why someone can appear objectively “physically attractive” yet evoke little genuine sexual attraction. We talk about our fixation on the ideal, the tendency to objectify people, and what happens when the real person in front of us inevitably conflicts with the version of them we’ve constructed in our minds. From there, the conversation moves into dating and “the game”: the pursuit of attention, attraction and approval as a means of validating ourselves. For some people, particularly those who have become accustomed to receiving attention, another person can unconsciously become less of a human being to encounter and more of an obstacle to conquer, a way of proving desirability, status or worth. We also discuss why words alone can be misleading. People may say what is convenient, socially useful or advantageous in a particular moment, and one of the dangers of being an honest person is assuming everyone else is operating from the same orientation. Compassion doesn’t require naivety. Being a good person doesn’t mean abandoning discernment. We touch on jealousy, the “bucket of crabs” mentality, and the uncomfortable reality that even people who genuinely love us can sometimes undermine, criticise or diminish us when our growth forces them to confront something within themselves. Ultimately, this is a conversation about learning to meet people as they actually are, rather than as objects, ideals or projections, while remaining grounded in who you are. You don’t need to surrender your power to be kind. You can be strong, discerning and unapologetically yourself while still treating other people with humanity. | Ep. 38 - Ayahuasca - 'The medicine is life' | 08 Aug 2026 | 00:44:03
Most people are chasing the experience. The visions. The purge. The story they can tell afterwards. But what if that’s not where the real power is? In this episode of The Uncomfortable Truth, I unpack the reality of ayahuasca beyond the hype. Because just like a psychologist, a coach, or any modality… the medicine doesn’t do the work for you. The real work begins after. We talk about integration - the unsexy, often overlooked process of taking what you’ve seen, felt, and realised… and actually living it. Because without that, even the most profound experience becomes just another memory. I also explore the trap of spiritual materialism - how the ego can quietly hijack the journey, turning something meant for truth into another identity to wear. And the uncomfortable reality that not all “spiritual spaces” are as pure as they seem - where discernment becomes your responsibility, not someone else’s. I also share a personal story about an unexpected encounter with a shaman in everyday life… and why the message landed far deeper than a some psychedelic experiences. If you’ve ever been curious about ayahuasca, or you’ve already sat in ceremony and are wondering “what now?”, this episode will challenge the way you see the entire process.
| Ep. 37 - Why Hustle Doesn’t Work: Finding Your True Alignment | 25 Jul 2026 | 00:47:39 | |
This is my favourite episode of the podcast so far. It is a raw, honest and largely uncut exploration of 'hustle' state Vs a 'go with the flow' state, and what I believe both sides of that conversation often get wrong. Some people can work 15 hours a day and feel inspired, energised and completely alive. Others can force themselves through far less work and end up exhausted, resentful and burnt out. The difference is not simply how hard they are working. It is the state from which the work is being done. In this episode, I explore the difference between hustle and aligned action. Work is still required. Effort is still required. But when the action is aligned, it can feel less like forcing yourself to perform and more like an expression of who you are. You are not constantly pushing against yourself. You are simply being. The deeper idea behind this episode is that the energy we carry into our actions matters. The state giving rise to the action leaves its signature on what we create. When we hustle from fear, inadequacy, desperation or the belief that we are falling behind, we may simply be planting more of that same energy into our future. We often try to pick ourselves up by our own bootstraps, using the same internal state that created the struggle to somehow escape it. We focus obsessively on what to do, while overlooking the identity, awareness and energy from which the doing emerges. I also share my own experience of understanding my own alignment, learning to recognise when I am forcing something, and beginning to understand the difference between movement that comes from pressure and action that comes from genuine contact with myself. This episode challenges the linear way we tend to think about work, success and cause and effect. Our 'state' is primary, and when the state is right, the “how” begins to take care of itself.
| Ep. 36 - My take on Tennis | 23 Jul 2026 | 00:38:42 | |
This is a rough-and-ready episode about tennis, technique and what it actually takes to learn a difficult skill quickly. I’ve only been playing tennis for around 18 months, but in a relatively short space of time I feel like I’ve sorted out many of the main mechanics. Meanwhile, a lot of the people I started beginner classes with are still struggling with the same basic limitations. The difference, in my view, is not necessarily talent. It is application. I’ve been willing to abandon the need to look good in the moment so that I can become better later. When you commit to proper form, it often does not work immediately. You mistime the ball, hit it long, frame shots and temporarily look worse than someone who is simply guiding the ball safely back over the net. You have to suffer through that period before you come out the other side transformed. Learning can be like jumping a fence. At some point, you have to take the leap. You cannot reach the other side while still holding on to the ground behind you. If you want to genuinely upgrade your technique, you sometimes have to go the whole way. You cannot keep relying on the same compensations that got you to your current level. You have to let go of the hack form, commit to the real movement and give yourself enough time to make it work. My slightly harsh take is that you are not really playing tennis properly if you can only keep the ball in by hitting it softly. A proper tennis shot is hit with speed, but also with enough spin to bring the ball down into the court consistently. That requires the right body position, an early coil, strong rotation and the correct relationship between the swing path and racquet-face angle. At the professional level, these mechanics begin to look remarkably similar, and that is not an accident. There are certain physical requirements for producing a hard, controlled and heavy ball. My interest in this probably comes from years of playing football, golf and basketball, as well as training in the gym. I’ve always been fascinated by movement mechanics, skill development and the pursuit of something approaching perfect form. This is not a polished tennis-coaching seminar. It is more like listening to me work things out in real time: raw, technical, unfiltered and occasionally blunt. If you are interested in tennis, movement, learning quickly or the process of temporarily becoming worse so that you can eventually become much better, this episode gives you a look inside my head as I try to figure it all out.
| Ep. 35 - Academic Knowledge Vs Field Knowledge | 19 Jul 2026 | 00:21:41 | |
This is a spicy one. In Episode 35, I challenge the assumption that academic knowledge is automatically more valuable than knowledge developed through real-world experience. Academic theories can be useful, but they are often compressed into words, concepts and models that exist primarily in the mind. Direct experience is different. It contains far more information: physical sensations, timing, context, intuition, feedback and countless variables being processed simultaneously. A bodybuilder, for example, may understand training through years of feeling, adjusting and responding to what is happening inside their own body. That knowledge cannot always be fully captured in a laboratory or reduced to a set of written conclusions. Sometimes the research is simply attempting to explain, categorise or justify what experienced practitioners already know. The same applies to human relationships. A degree in communication does not necessarily mean someone knows how to connect with people, read a room or navigate the complexity of dating. Real understanding is demonstrated through interaction, not credentials. This episode is a passionate defence of field knowledge: the living, embodied intelligence developed by actually doing the thing. Academic knowledge has its place, but it should not automatically be placed above experience.
| Ep. 34 - Years of Therapy... but i feel the same on the inside | 11 Jul 2026 | 00:56:53 | |
Still people pleasing, unable to say no. Still living in fight or flight. Still believing you're not good enough, even though you understand where those beliefs came from. Still gossiping behind people's backs. If you've spent years in therapy, read the books, listened to the podcasts, and developed a deep understanding of yourself, but the patterns you wanted to change are still there, this episode is for you. In this episode of The Uncomfortable Truth, I explore what I believe is one of the biggest blind spots in modern psychology: the assumption that understanding ourselves is enough to create lasting change. We discuss:
I also draw parallels with physical rehabilitation and strength training. Knowing exactly what's causing plantar fasciitis doesn't remove the pain. In the same way, understanding why you think or behave a certain way doesn't automatically change your life. The real work begins when the familiar impulse arises, and you choose a different action. Understanding yourself is valuable. But understanding yourself isn't the same as changing yourself.
| Ep. 33 - The Hidden Language of Energy - How Non-verbal Communication Impacts Our Relationships | 01 Jun 2026 | 01:06:58 | |
The people who do the best with the opposite sex, usually don't have the highest IQ. The people who get paid the most, usually aren't the best at the technical aspects of their job. So much of our success in live is dictated by our emotional intelligence, or senses outside of the purely conceptual or information realm, and yet there is so little discussion on Non-verbal communication, whether in our education system or in our workplaces.......

| Ep. 32 - Science, Authority & the Pursuit of Truth | 16 May 2026 | 01:03:18 | |
In this episode, I sit down with Michael Clausing for a candid and free-flowing discussion about science, authority, philosophy, and the way we assess information in the modern world. Michael has a background in chemistry and has spent almost two decades working within the pharmaceutical industry, engaging closely with doctors, medical systems, and the broader healthcare space. Together, we explore some of the deeper philosophical and structural issues surrounding modern scientific culture and institutional thinking. This conversation is not about claiming to have all the answers. It is about questioning assumptions, encouraging discussion, and examining how modern society often outsources thinking to perceived authorities rather than engaging critically with ideas for ourselves. We discuss:
We also touch on broader topics such as inflammation, chronic disease, cancer, contagion theory, healing mechanisms, and the psychological consequences of viewing the body as inherently broken or defective - all through a broader lens of inquiry rather than rigid certainty. Ultimately, this episode is about the pursuit of truth, the importance of questioning established narratives, and the need for deeper thinking in an increasingly polarized and outsourced culture. This is a philosophical conversation intended to encourage critical thinking and open discussion. It is not medical advice.
| Ep. 31 - Boundaries are an inside job | 18 Mar 2026 | 00:18:33 | |
Boundaries are everywhere right now. Everyone’s talking about them. Everyone’s “setting” them. But here’s the truth… Most people don’t actually have boundaries — they just have words. In this episode, I break down why boundaries aren’t something you say… they’re something you embody. Because if you don’t truly believe what’s acceptable to you, the world won’t either.

| Ep. 30 - When words lie: How naive vulnerability is a mistake | 09 Aug 2025 | 00:31:06 | |
We’ve been told to “just be vulnerable” — but what if that advice is setting us up for heartache? The reality is, not everyone is telling the truth. People lie all the time, and their actions and body language often reveal more than their words ever will. In this episode, I unpack the problem with naïve vulnerability and why oversharing without discernment can leave you exposed to manipulation in dating, workplaces, and beyond. I break down the difference between healthy vulnerability and the sloppy kind, and use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to reveal how speaking from our wounded, child-like parts — instead of our grounded adult self — can trap us in subtle victimhood. If you’ve ever trusted too quickly, believed the wrong words, or blamed yourself for someone else’s bad behaviour, this conversation will help you sharpen your ability to read people — and protect your trust, boundaries, and wellbeing.
| Ep. 29 - 'Helping Others' is bypassing/virtue signalling, masquerading as altruism | 31 May 2025 | 00:27:11 | |
Helping others', while being positioned as virtuous and good for society, is often detrimental. When someone has a fundamental piece of their identity as a 'helper' this is usually a mechanism to either get out of the hard work, avoid being seen, OR an attempt to get brownie points for being a 'good guy' or 'good girl'. The Uncomfortable truth is that while positioned as virtuous, 'helping others' may actually be cowardice. Often the hardest thing is to step out and be seen as your true self, and therefore it can be an act of hiding to place the focus on others. In this episode, we build the argument that the most constructive and selfless thing you can do, is ironically focusing on being the best version of yourself, and to focus on your own life. We look at some examples of this mechanism playing out, the main mistakes people make, and some ways to navigate this impulse if it arises.
| Ep. 28 - Dating - 'Things in common' don't matter | 24 May 2025 | 00:18:58 | |
In this podcast I discuss how I haver been observing a common mistake while watching the show 'Love is Blind' - a dating show where people get to know each other behind a wall so they can't actually see each other, so they must choose their match without seeing what they look like. This mistake is so prevalent that it is actually the norm, and yet because our culture is so disconnected from the body, we are not even aware of it. We discuss mirror neurons, data encoded in the voice, and the uncomfortable truth about this mistake that people make, and some practical solutions to shift away from this mistake.
| Ep. 27 - 'The plan wasn't bad' - you just need to stick to it. | 06 May 2025 | 00:14:33 | |
In this episode we discuss how a common issue that people tend to have in pursuit of any goal in any domain is that we abandon the plan for a new one, or leave it before we've had time to see any results. Many plans will work, but no plan will work that is not seen out. In this episode we use an example between an Pro and Amateur lifter, and how we often misattribute the reasons for the pro's success. Often we attribute their success to the fancy peripheral exercises, when in fact, their success is due to the quality with which they do the basics. Perhaps the uncomfortable truth is that we are using these objects and details like the structure of the training program as an excuse to get out of getting into the hard work and moving through those points of resistance.
| Ep. 26 - 'Toxic Niceness' - "I can't say no to my friends" | 26 Apr 2025 | 00:21:19 | |
Do you ever feel like you over extend yourself, or feel resentment that you're always doing too much for others? Sometimes 'being nice' is the toxic thing to do! In this episode we explore the topic of 'toxic niceness'. The uncomfortable truth is that if we are 'being nice' when it is not appropriate too, then we are actually not being a good person. Enabling a friend's bad behaviour (or anyone's), and abandoning what feels right for ourselves is actually toxic behaviour. Often we convince ourselves that this toxic behaviour is just us being compassionate or caring, and we hide behind a moral veneer. The uncomfortable truth is that we may be lying to ourselves and lacking the courage to confront the bad behaviour and do what is right for us.
| Ep. 25 - The ‘Magic’ Happens on Day 37 | 19 Apr 2025 | 00:23:24 | |
In this episode we discuss how tangible results are not linear, even if the action steps we take are linear and consistent. We discuss some of the min excuses people use as Exit strategies, such as blaming the 'vehicle' or strategy, when the results don't come straight away - resulting in us continuing to chase the next shiny object, rather than see a plan through to completion. The uncomfortable truth in this episode is that we may actually be sub-consiously invested in our own failure due to 'safety of the known', 'avoiding failure', or 'rationalising our own procrastination'..... Ultimately it is the carrying through our plans to completion where we grow, because whether we hit our target or not, we will know if the strategy was effective, rather than staying in the same spot in continual speculation and stagnation.

| Ep. 24 - Balancing various weekly exercise | 12 Apr 2025 | 00:13:27 | |
If we don't get clear on what our goals are and balance our exercise properly, we may flip flop between different activities and will not develop as quickly, and may injure ourselves. In this episode we touch on some broad principles with respect to Running and Weight training in the same regimen. When we have competing goals and physical exercise, what are the rules. There is so much information out there on individual goals, but almost nothing out there on how to manage a real life situation with a number of activities in our week.
| Ep.23 - Living to ‘help others’ is toxic | 04 Apr 2025 | 00:16:37 | |
In this episode we discuss how the brave and more difficult path is to live for ourselves. How we can hide in 'helping others' because the focus is off of ourself, and more insidiously, we can win brownie points at the time and be the goodie goodie while we hide. We discuss how the ego attempts to make itself the moral 'goodie', and how the way to mitigate being manipulated is to anchor to our own value system. The more we are anchored to our own value system, the less sensitive we are to others opinions. Perhaps the biggest service we can give to the world and to other people is to focus on ourselves, and live our fullest and truest expression.

| Ep. 22 - Do you qualify as a 'sick person'? - (objectifying sickness) | 28 Mar 2025 | 00:11:57 | |
One of the major issues mistakes in thinking in our western medical system is the categorical distinction between 'sick' or 'not sick'. It seems that if we are not sick, then there is nothing that the medical system can do for us, and we should just suck it up, OR if we do qualify, then we have an objective disorder and should be treated differently and given pharmaceuticals. A great question to ask is "what is the diagnosis in service of" - as the diagnosis can lead to us playing all sorts of psychological games, most of which are toxic. In this episode I make a case for taking a more balanced approach, where we aren't a catastrophizing hypochondriac, yet we can honour the truth of what's going on, rather than ignoring the situation just because we don't qualify for a diagnosis.
| Ep. 21 - Good tears & Bad tears (Processing Emotions) | 15 Mar 2025 | 00:33:27 | |
One of the best episodes yet! If we don't understand our emotions and how to process them, then how can we expect to communicate well and relate to each other? A great episode which discusses the difference between good and bad emoting, holding space, psychological entanglement, and some 'MAFS' references to boot.
| |||
| Ep. 20 - Biohacking is a bad attitude | 08 Mar 2025 | 00:18:06 | |
In this episode we discuss how biohacking by definition is an attempt to 'hack the system' and that this attitude is not the best long term philosophy for health. Biohacking may have some utility, but we neeed to see the big picture, otherwise we may get lost chasing the 'shiny object' and chasing the 'cool thing' of the day i.e. use it as an avoidance, rather than as a way to speed our physiological recalibration. We also discuss how we are over-attending to the physical, with meticulous regimens in diet and exercise, while we are metaphorically "in the toddler pool flapping around" with our emotional and mental fitness. We seem to be neglecting the areas of health where all the leverage is.
| Ep. 19 - Worrying about others is an act of violence - ‘Ahimsa’ | 20 Feb 2025 | 00:25:36 | |
In this episode we discuss an idea from yogic indian philosophy (Yamas and Niyamas) on how "Worry is an act of violence and cannot exist simultaneously with love" So often we think that we are doing people a favour by worrying about them. In this podcast episode, we discuss how worry is a selfish projection of our own fears into the situation, and can actually considered an act of violence. Can we learn to turn our worry about people we care about into 'faith', because our psychic projections have an impact!
| Ep. 18 - Letting go of the 'good girl' | 15 Feb 2025 | 00:34:07 | |
In this episode, we discuss how having an identity around being a 'good person' can sometimes get us stuck in bad relationships where our need to feel like the 'good girl' can be used against us. If we are too hung up on being liked by others or concerns about what others think of us, it can get us into compromising relationships where we are controlled. The uncomfortable truth is that we may also be getting a payoff for being in these relationships, and at some level we are an energetic match to these relationships. In order to have more balanced relationships, it may require us to let go of the need to be liked or 'good', so that we can be free to be our genuine selves.
| Ep. 17 - Migraines & Headaches | 08 Feb 2025 | 00:37:55 | |
We can be sitting quietly at our desks, meanwhile on the inside we are "sitting in a soup of cortisol and adrenaline, meanwhile the person next to us is none the wiser..." In this episode I share my thoughts and experience with my clients with respect to migraines and headaches. We discuss the main interim solutions to address immediate pain including botox and medications. The long-term solutions however, require behavioural change. Whether we are addressing pure 'physical stagnation' from lack of movement or mental stress, we need to identify and understand the aggravating factors, in order to address the 'real' problem. Mental stress is a huge component of migraines and headaches which is usually not well understood and addressed. In this episode we discuss how an awareness of our daily emotional, mental and energetic patterns is the starting point towards making behavioural adjustments which will keep us in an ongoing healthy state, rather than relying solely on short term solutions which may have more damaging impacts.
| Ep. 16 - Which Limiting Beliefs do you have 'Stockholm Syndrome' for? | 01 Feb 2025 | 00:33:32 | |
In order to heal and change for the better, it helps to have an understanding of why we are doing the negative thing to begin with. In this episode we discuss how we are essentially choosing our negative stories! You might ask - "What do I possibly have to gain from limiting beliefs?". There is always a reason.... We look into why we have 'Stockholm Syndrome' for our limiting beliefs and want to defend our captors. We also consider an analogy of ourselves as gemstones and how our pschological and mental mechanisms are obstructions to the light coming through us. We then use then analogy to help discuss the two main ways to speed our own healing and personal evolution.
| Ep. 15 - Spiritual bypassing & discernment in selecting practitioners | 25 Jan 2025 | 00:25:32 | |
Often in this culture we can be sucked into the 'cool thing' to do, rather than the 'real work', and becoming overly attached to the vehicle/container/practitioner/method/technique etc. can be a way to Spiritual Bypass. It is important to use discernment and select high quality coaches to help us fast-track our process, and yet, it is our sincerity, intention, and willingness to confront what is present, which will help us evolve, not the particular method or any other tools we choose to work with. In this episode we discuss the fundamental assumption that we are responsible for our own health, and how this belief affects the outcomes in our lives.
| Ep. 14 - Amadu Koroma - A chat about fitness | 24 Jul 2024 | 00:29:18 | |
Candid chat with PT, Amadu Koroma discussing some of the major lessons and misconceptions within the fitness world.
| Ep. 13 - Belief is a Contract | 12 Jul 2024 | 00:21:06 | |
"The speed with which we can let go of bad ideas is the currency of the 21'st century" With so many contradictory ideas and saturation of information, the ability to detatch from and replace our world views or beliefs become extremely valuable. Often we can become so identified with our beliefs that we don't realise that we have a choice not to believe them. These agreements that we make with our thoughts dramatically shape the experience we have and the outcomes that we obtain. What ideas are you sub-consciously signing off on? and what impact is it having on your life?
| Ep. 12 - Embodiment | 05 Jul 2024 | 00:28:17 | |
"On paper this guys seems great, but I don't feel right about him"...... This podcasts introduces the idea of Embodiment and why it is important. Rather than outsourcing our responsibility for our bodies and our decisions to 'experts' perhaps we can take the power back, and cultivate a relationship with our bodies own intelligence systems. Our gut, heart, sex... are constantly communicating with us, as we take in data from an infinitely complex world with so many different types of information. In the Western World we glorify and focus on the mind and as such, miss out on so much important information which feeds our powerful intuition.
| Ep. 11 - Sound Therapy - 'The body is a musical instrument' | 21 Jun 2024 | 00:24:42 | |
From a dirty beat which speaks to a sacral chakra, to a melodic harmony which speaks to our crown chakra..... Just as a piano has keys with different frequency, our bodies have energetic centres with different frequencies. We are a musical instrument! A brief introduction into some basics of Energy work and Sound healing - Whether it is physical, mental, or energetic therapy, we are simply bringing attention to an area of the body which is out of balance in an attempt to help it recalibrate to it's natural healthy state. The 'therapeutic attention' can come in many forms, including physical touch, mental attention, or sound frequency.
| Ep. 10 - The Barstardisation of Spirituality | 12 Jun 2024 | 00:21:07 | |
Ayahuasca, yoga, cacao, mupacho, amanita.... Apparently spirituality is sexy now! and has ironically become an object to enhance our fake identity, rather than dropping all the fake layers to uncover the deeper truths about ourselves. Sadly in some circles, it's about having the right bracelets, tattoos and softly spoken voice, rather than engaging in the real work. Different spiritual practices are becoming more popular in our culture and with that comes the natural pollution of the space. How do we know the genuine article from the fake? Once again the responsibility falls on the individual to develop and exercise discernment to know who to work with and who not to. In this episode we discuss what genuine spiritual practices might feel like, and how a spiritual practice can easily turn into spiritual materialism, which ironically is the opposite of what spiritual practice is about.
| Ep. 9 - Age is an Excuse | 07 Jun 2024 | 00:21:45 | |
There can be fear around the healing process or even getting back into activity after a long break. Sometimes we would rather gaslight ourselves and give ourselves an excuse for why we can't, rather than take accountability and do the work required to change. There are some fit older people, but all of them do the same right behaviours that create that situation, so is it age or behaviour which dictates the outcome? What are the outcomes of the beliefs we subscribe to? Do we want to lie to ourselves to feel comfortable but disempowered, or do we want to accept the harsh truth that "I am choosing this". What limiting beliefs are you signing off on??
| Ep. 8 - Our brain thinks negativity is protecting us! | 31 May 2024 | 00:23:02 | |
If we are negative, then we are less likely to take action and therefore save potential criticism and rejection. The brain may unconsciously be attempting to save us from harm - Even though it isn't perfectly adaptive to our current environments all of the time. What is the energetic imprint behind our decisions? Whatever state we are in when we make plans or decisions, we may just be seeding more of that state into our future! Discussion around the importance of 'Embodiment' and revisiting the idea that our patterns are multifacited.
| Ep. 7 - What if the problem is actually you? | 24 May 2024 | 00:18:54 | |
Trigger Warning! This episode is about 'victim thinking' and how our culture seems to enable and reward it. Different political movements or even our family and friends may encourage us to continue believing things that may be damaging to our progress. In some way, if we can make it not our fault, then we can feel happy in our current state, and don't have to change. In all areas of life, business, health, relationships, the limiting beliefs we carry are creating very real outcomes in the real world. What if it's you? What if it's what you're doing which is creating the problem, and not the things you place blame on? A harsh and potentially triggering episode :)
| Ep. 6 - Emotional Issues causing Physical Sickness | 17 May 2024 | 00:18:12 | |
In this podcast I discuss the growing awareness of the link between emotional / mental causes and physical sickness. The bio-psycho-social model is evidence of this respect for the multi-faceted nature of health, but there still seems to be a general distrust and perhaps fear of these connections in the mainstream culture. Similar triggers can manifest different types of sickness, depending on our bodies and genetic profiles. This is why generalised disorders such as CSS (centralised sensitivity disorder) and other systemic disorders are beginning to emerge with seemingly different manifestations of sickness, all categorised under the same disorder. We also use 'Polymyalgia / Fibromyalgia' and 'Migraines / Headaches' as examples of how a social or psychological stressor can create a physical sickness.

| Ep. 5 - Talk therapy didn't fix the problem! - (Imprints and Energetic Signature) | 17 May 2024 | 00:25:29 | |
In therapy we are not unpacking ideas alone. Many people understand their problems on an intellectual level, but the problem isn't fixed, or we feel like the talk therapy we're doing doesn't get to the heart of the problem. We often acknowledge how we pick up our parents quirks like speech or movement patterns, but what we don't tend to think about, is how we pass on or develop an entire complex bundle of emotions and energy around particular topics. In this podcast I use the concept of 'imprinting' and 'energetic signature' to show how our issues are multifaceted, and as such, may require a multifaceted solution. This is why somatic therapies or psychotherapy where we are enacting and engaging with the feelings, rather than talking about them, can get closer to (and heal) the core of the issue.

| Ep. 4 - Basic Exercise Principles - (Performance Vs Recovery exercise) | 10 May 2024 | 00:34:00 | |
How many reps should I do? should i go harder or back off?.... Cumulative robustness, test and rest, appropriate loading.... A lot of the questions we ask around exercise miss the point. It's more about the quality of the exercise, and tuning into our bodies than simply the number of reps we do! In this episode, I share a concept about performance and recovery exercise being seperate categories of exercise, so that we can better understand what our goals are and therefore how to exercise properly for our specific outcome.
| Ep. 3 - Choosing a Practitioner | 03 May 2024 | 00:25:02 | |
Chiro's are quaks! Physios are stiffs! ...... With so many different disciplines of therapy, it can be hard to know what all of them do and which one is right for us. There is no right or wrong modality. While there are some consistent differences, advantages and disadvantages or particular disciplines, tuning into your intuition around the quality of the connection, the individual skill and knowledge of the practitioner, and how safe they make you feel are perhaps the most important!
| Ep. 2 - Choosing an Exercise Facility | 02 May 2024 | 00:34:46 | |
So many different exercise classes nowadays! Crossfit, powerlifitng, gyms, yoga, pilates, hit classes..... Choosing what type of exercise can be overwhelming. In this episode, I discuss a little about the different types of training categories and what their main goals are, so that we can be better informed when selecting a training facility that matches our lifestyle and goals.
| Ep.1 - What is health? - An anthropological lens | 29 Mar 2024 | 00:22:42 | |
One of the most useful frameworks I have found to view health is to see the human as an organism which is adapted to a particular environment. Health could be seen as simply the degree to which a person is in alignment with their true nature. If we have too much or too little of something, we get off balance, and eventually we get sick. Health is just balance in accordance with what we are adapted to. Over thousands of years our environments and lifestyles have changed so much, but our 'apparatus' (the body) hasn't really changed. In order to be healthy today, we need to identify what our environment gives us too much or too little of, and engage in offset activities to bring us back to the middle-ground (homeostasis)
