What makes a scientist commit fraud? In episode three of The Trust Race, we look back at the ways tobacco companies used scientists to convince people cigarettes were safe. Historian of science, Professor Naomi Oreskes (author of Merchants of Doubt) explains the different ways the tobacco industry manipulated science and scientists to maintain their profits. We also speak with scientific integrity expert Dr Elisabeth Bik about the pressures that continue to drive scientists towards fraud.
