Well of course Mexico has Giallos & proto-slashers.

It’s January Giallo and Armando & Joey discuss the most obvious & well-known Mexican Giallo La Muerte Del Chacal (1984) and the very rare proto-slasher/revenge film Ultraje (1977).

Ultraje (1977): After settling into a secluded life in the woods; art professor Daniel, his newly young wife Kathy and their infant daughter are torn apart by sleazy road workers who assault Kathy & leave Daniel in a comatose state. Several years later, a dazed Daniel with an axe in hand, wanders around the woods in search of the men responsible of losing his family.

Strange Summer: Hermelinda Linda (1984) & Las Caguamas Ninja (1991)14 Jul 202501:21:30

The Trash-Mex Podcast gets strange (or even more so) with a couple of films that truly warped our minds!

We begin with Hermelinda Linda (1984), a peculiar & colorful horror-comedy based on a popular Mexican comic book character. Joey breaks down the film & its intriguing background.

Then we get really drunk (not literally) with Las Caguamas Ninjas (1991), a videohome that drunkenly parodies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with pot-bellied comedic actors wearing cheap costumes & doing bad karate moves with broomsticks.

What is a “videohome” anyway? Armando chimes in on what the so-called Mexican home video “phenomenon” of the 1990’s-2000’s was really about.

Oye Bro ¿Es Un Slasher? Part I: Panico En El Bosque (1990) & Bosque De Muerte (1993)06 Oct 202501:02:39

Well of course there are Mexican slasher films, but several titles that are labeled “slashers” aren’t even really slashers at all!

In the 1st of 4 part episodes of “Oye Bro ¿Es Un Slasher?”, hosts Armando & Joey slash into:

Panico En El Bosque (1990)

  • set in a national park (or Bosque De Chapultepec), a killer is terrorizing park-goers and other troubles go on in the forest as well. The unseen vagrant killer seems to be protective of children & wants to keep any kind of trouble out of the park.

Bosque De Muerte (1993)

  • a group of young adults head out for a weekend trip to the secluded forest home of “Silvia”, who hasn’t been at the home since her mother died under mysterious circumstances and is estranged from her father. Just when the trip seems to be going normal, a storm suddenly hits & someone is stalking the group and one by one they end up killed. Silvia & her childhood friend/forest ranger “El Jaguar” must try to find a way to escape the killer.

And to make the executions of these 2 films even more tasteful, we invited Lance & Erica of the Unsung Horrors podcast with a pre-recording of their thoughts on the films.

Enamorados: Un Corazón Para Dos (1990) & Mujeres Infieles (1995)09 Feb 202601:07:37

Trash-Mex is for lovers!

Valentine’s Day is coming up and we discuss two 1990’s Mexican films about unrequited love & the consequences of infidelity.

Un Corazón Para Dos (1990) (A Heart for Two)

Bernardo(Pedro Fernandez) longs to be with his friend Valeria, but he never seems to have the courage to propose his love for her. When Valeria is told she will need a heart transplant to become well again and Bernardo running out of time from his own illness—he makes the ultimate sacrifice to prove his true love for her.

Mujeres Infieles (1995) (Unfaithful Women)

3 salacious tales of infidelity from directors Adolfo Martinez Solares & Gilberto Martinez Solares.

  • Julieta (Lina Santos) tries to sneak in a gift from her lover Marcelo, but her plan might not exactly go as planned.

  • When everyone around Clara (Claudia Vega) seems to have forgotten her birthday, she seeks attention from the man who’s working on her & her fiancée’s new apartment. An impulsive move that could lead to heavy consequences.

  • Bored housewife Mariana (Elizabeth Katz) longs for companionship and responds to a personal ad from a charming man who might just be too good to be true. What was to be a small fling, becomes a bad time all-around for Mariana & her husband.

Madres Malditas: Obsesión De Matar (1992) & Esclavas Del Sadismo (1994) 11 May 202601:12:38

What could be the most vile Trash-Mex movies to watch on Mother’s Day? Well, we got two choices and both involve not so great mothers..

Ismael Rodriguez Jr takes on Psycho IV with a better version: Obsesión De Matar (1992)

  • On a nightly talk radio show, a man nicknamed “Pepe” calls in to discuss his incestuous relationship with his mother that lead into “Matricide” & other brutal murders. The talk show host & guest are skeptical of the caller, but his dark story unfolds to something much more sinister & very personal to someone working on the show.

Second feature is Esclavas Del Sadismo (1994), a film that only someone like the late & forever great director Christian Gonzalez would make!

  • An unusual mother lets her son make dirty films in the basement of their apartment building. Sleaze all around, even amongst the law.
