09 Redefining Luxury Travel For The Better With Ronald Jacobs
Épisode 9
mercredi 21 août 2024 • Durée 51:36
Welcome back to The Tourism RESET with me, your host, Rebecca Woolford. My guest today is Ronald Jacobs, general manager of Finca La Donaira in Spain.
Working for some of the world’s most ‘luxurious’ hotel brands Ronald's experience left him feeling unfulfilled. In his pursuit of happiness, he finally found what he’d been looking for in the rolling hills of Andalusia. An organic farm and eco-retreat like nothing I've seen before...
'Luxury' in travel has long been defined by abundance, opulence and excess, often at any cost. Now luxury travel experiences are being redefined, driven by a profound shift in what we value. From the superficial surface level, many travellers now seek experiences that go deeper. Moving from ‘consuming’ to ‘conserving’.
What you'll learn in this episode:
- Why this eco retreat and organic farm is the perfect example of redefining luxury
- Why ‘The skin of our planet' is directly linked to both the climate crisis and the solution
- Examples of Finca La Donaira's sustainability projects and visions for the future
- Why authentic, meaningful travel experiences now trump opulence, and lavish luxury

08 Costa Rica An Unlikely Success Story With Glenn Jampol
Épisode 8
mercredi 7 août 2024 • Durée 01:05:50
Welcome back to The Tourism RESET with me, your host, Rebecca Woolford. Despite its small size (0.03% of the world’s landmass) Costa Rica hosts an incredible 6% of the world’s biodiversity, but it wasn’t always headed in this direction. At one point Costa Rica had one of the highest deforestation rates in the world!
To better understand how Costa Rica became a success story, returning its ravaged land back to health, we go back in time with the help of my knowledgeable guest who knows the story better than most. Glenn Jampol is an author, organic coffee farmer, public speaker, and proud owner of Finca Rosa Blanca (named by National Geographic as one of the unique lodges of the world).

07 On Location in Costa Rica With Kimberly Farrell
Épisode 7
mercredi 31 juillet 2024 • Durée 01:03:28
Welcome back to The Tourism RESET with me, your host, Rebecca Woolford. This episode was recorded on location, expect to hear rainforest sounds ;)
A destination which often conjures up images of cloud forests, pristine jungle, and gorgeous beaches, not everything is 'pura vida' here. Did you know? Costa Rica is the country that uses the most pesticides per hectare, according to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). Specifically, the increase is linked to three crops: banana, coffee, and pineapple.
That's why we travelled to Finca Luna Nueva Lodge (aka the Mother Moon) the pioneers of soil health, serving 100% organic food and who are hands down the leaders in conscious travel in Costa Rica.
In this episode with Kimberly Farrell, general manager at Finca Luna Nueva we talk about greenwashing, the detrimental effects of heavy pesticide, and how we can work with the land to draw down carbon.
What you'll learn in this episode:
- Why everything begins with the soil and how this influences the feeling of a place
- The connection between the health of the soil, the food we eat, and our well-being
- How Finca Luna Nueva engages guests through living classroom experiences
