What's going on everyone!! In this episode of The Techtual Talk, Shamika aka the bougieblerd joins the show to talk about the NBA finals, her tech background, finances, and what it's like doing cyber threat intelligence.

Shamika was born & raised in Oakland, CA. Shamika has worked in tech/finance for almost 10 years but about 4 years in cybersecurity. She took a pretty non traditional path into tech. She doesn't have a college degree, and she doesn't code. Shamika is currently a cyber threat intelligence analyst working at Twilio, a company that provides programmable communications APIs.

Shamika says, "I've only been in threat intelligence for about 6 months, but I really love this domain. Cyber criminals are hilarious, and I enjoy tracking current and emerging threats."

In this episode our special guest Deirra Footman joins us of Let’s Talk Tech:  Deirra discovered her passion for Science and Technology at a young age growing up in Baltimore, Maryland. As a child, she spent her downtime researching how various technologies worked. She always enjoyed taking things apart to figure out how they worked. That curiosity allowed her to build her analytical and problem-solving skills. Deirra’s love for computer technology and thirst for knowledge led her to enroll in the Cisco Network Academy in High School. This opportunity opened the door to the world of Computer Networking and Information Security. Her passion for the field led her to complete additional self-study and excel in the course and landed her an internship with the Baltimore City Public School District in her Senior Year. Adrian McClanahan is a mother, a wife, and a network control center engineer, holding a Bachelor’s degree in Network Information Systems. She’s been in the IT field for over 14 years.  With a genuine love for technology and all things surrounding it, Adrian took that passion and created a technology blog, ChicDivaGeek.com, which has evolved and grown into a website design business.  Adrian is also a technology instructor for youth at Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation. Teaching introductory coding and technology classes at the centers to expose kids to the possibilities of working in the IT field early. As an extension of this she also launched Flash Tech Summit, a free technology summit for kids to expose and introduce kids to various fields in technology, it’s coming up on it’s 5th year

In this episode we talk about how to sustain a 30 year tech career with our guest Professor Black Ops. Professor Black Ops worked for the Department of Defense for 11 years. He currently is going on his 10th year at a large state agency as a consultant. He's been consulting for 25 yrs. His last 15 years he has been in Cybersecurity and he specializes in Federal Cyber security.

He is also the host of his own weekly live podcast, "InfoSec Unplugged" where he interviews several people in the industry. Davin has over fifteen years of overall IT and Cyber Security experience and holds several certifications. However, he plans to continue learning like someone who is new to the field! Davin's goal is to share his experience to help teach and mentor people looking to start or further their careers. He also wants to help families secure their homes and devices as well as teach the youth about the dangers of the internet. In this episode we are joinged by Samara Williams who runs Threat Operations, Vulnerability Management, and Threat Intellignece at Cardinal health. We discuss a multitude of topics in the realm of cybersecurity.

Samara grew up in a blended family in San Antonio, Texas. Throughout most of her childhood and a couple of years in college she played basketball, it was her life (RIP Kobe). After moving on from the “ball is life” mentality, she grew an affinity for technology. This stemmed from being the Limewire expert in the house. She hooked up the family with whatever music they desired, while also loading the home computer with all kinds of malware goodies. Deciding on a career path was easy! After completing a degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Cybersecurity, Samara moved from San Antonio, TX to Columbus, OH to pursue a Cybersecurity career. Samara was a rotation analyst in a program where she had the opportunity to rotate through seven companies headquartered in Columbus to learn from their Cyber Security program. Currently, Samara works in Cyber Threat Intelligence, collecting and analyzing a wide range of threats to a wide range of industries. She specializes in MITRE ATT&CK, threat actor reporting, fostering relationships with other security partners, as well as process design and development.
