The Shocking Case That Exposes Rape culture's deep roots!17 Dec 202401:30:04

This week on The Tea, Myriam Francois dives into a candid conversation with Salma El-Wardany, feminist, powerhouse author, poet, and creator of her substack The Sunday Cervix. Together, they unpack the harrowing case of Gisèle Pelicot—a French grandmother who was drugged and sexually assaulted by at the very least 72 men, orchestrated by her husband, over a nine-year nightmare. As the trial reaches its conclusion, what does this shocking story reveal about rape culture and the global rollback of women’s rights?

From Salma’s deeply personal revelations about surviving rape to dissecting societal complicity in sexual violence, this episode confronts hard truths about the persistence of male violence in a post-#MeToo world. With pop culture phenomena like Love is Blind Habibi, "trad wives," and the Kardashians shaping gender norms, how do they influence the fight for equality?

Expect raw honesty, cultural critique, and hard-hitting discussions about:

  • The Gisèle Pelicot case and its implications.
  • Systemic failures in tackling sexual violence.
  • Consent and grey areas
  • Hook-up culture, pornography, and their impact on feminism.
  • Beauty standards, hypersexualization, and capitalism's grip on female empowerment.
  • Men’s role in the feminist movement and what lies ahead.

Salma and Myriam hold nothing back in this eye-opening episode that calls us to question, reflect, and act. 💥

This Is What Happens When You Protest a Genocide in the U.S!07 Apr 202500:34:36

In his most revealing and intimate interview yet, British-Gambian scholar and activist Momodou Taal joins The Tea with Myriam Francois from an undisclosed location—for his own safety via a video recording.

For the first time, he opens up about the personal toll of being targeted, suspended, and ultimately forced out of the U.S. for his outspoken support of Palestinian rights. From the attempted arrest and Cornell’s institutional response, to the growing web of AI surveillance and the cost of international solidarity—this conversation peels back the curtain on a terrifying new era of political repression.

He unpacks the uncomfortable double standards in how dissent is policed, draws powerful connections between Black liberation and Palestinian resistance, and reflects on how to hold onto hope—even as he warns that Zionism may be entering its final chapter.

This isn’t just a story about student activism—it’s a warning, a reckoning, and a call to resist.

Can We Really Decolonise the System from Within? 02 May 202501:12:17

Are universities ready to lead real change, or are they still upholding the same structures of dominance? Is “decolonising” from within a path to genuine transformation, or just a new label for old hierarchies? With Trump in the White House and the genocide in Gaza ongoing, will this be the moment that exposes the limits of Western morality?

How do we build real community and care for each other in a system that values profit over people, leaving the most vulnerable on the margins? What does solidarity look like when the system thrives on division?

Join Myriam Francois and decolonial scholar Hasanain Jaffer for a bold conversation on what it really takes to challenge the power of the imperial core from inside its own institutions.

This week on The Tea with Myriam Francois, U.S. veteran and outspoken anti-imperialist Greg Stoker joins us to pull back the curtain on the deadly intersections of military strategy, state violence, and imperial branding—from Gaza’s decimation to Western propaganda operations and privatized warfare.

🛑 The Abraham Accords – Peace deals, or PR for arms trades and surveillance empires?

🛑 Trump and Empire – Not the architect—just the most honest salesman.

🛑 The New Right’s “Pro-Palestinian” Turn – Is Candace Owens standing for justice—or hijacking the cause?

This episode isn’t just about modern warfare—it’s about modernized colonialism, dressed in the language of freedom, peace, and security.

"Everything I Was Taught… Was a Lie"30 May 202501:12:58

This week on The Tea with Myriam Francois, journalist and critic of U.S. foreign policy Aaron Maté joins us for a deep dive into Palestine, ‘Jewishness,’ and the media narratives around them. As a Jewish voice opposing Israel’s violence, he’s been dismissed and sidelined — but he’s not backing down.

From the devastation in Gaza to the discourse in Washington, Maté thoughtfully explores how identity can be instrumentalized, how definitions of antisemitism are being reshaped in politics, and why solidarity with Palestinians is not only compatible with Jewish identity — but essential to its integrity.

🛑 Zionism vs. Judaism – What happens when a political project lays claim to a religious identity?

🛑 Hasbara 2.0 – Israel’s PR machine and the manufacturing of moral consent.

🛑 Gaza and Genocide – Is the world finally waking up to reality?

🛑 Jewish Identity Under Siege – What happens when dissenting Jews are cast out?

This episode is a deep dive into the identity politics of empire — and the people refusing to be used by it.

“People Have the Power to Stop the Siege”27 Jun 202500:58:07

Season 4 of The Tea with Myriam François launches today with a heart-wrenching conversation featuring Palestinian writer Ahmed Alnaouq, co-editor of We Are Not Numbers, a groundbreaking anthology of personal stories from young Palestinians.

In this powerful episode, Ahmed shares what it means to survive war, censorship, and unimaginable personal loss in Gaza. And makes a direct appeal to the world: “People have the power to stop the siege in Gaza”.

Set against the backdrop of an ongoing genocide — where even seeking food can mean death — the conversation explores the meaning of resistance and what real solidarity requires. From the failures of the aid system to the urgency of global inaction, Ahmed challenges us to go beyond symbolic protest and scale up our action: sustained boycotts and relentless pressure on complicit institutions.

🛑 The death trap of the aid machine in Gaza

🛑 Why Israel is arming ISIS affiliated gangs

🛑 Palestinians have the right to armed resistance

🛑 Why the two-state solution is not an option anymore

🛑 People have the power to stop the genocide

This episode is more than just a discussion. It's a call to conscience. We must do more.

Glastonbury, Vulnerability, and Violence04 Jul 202501:33:44

Glastonbury 2025 made headlines for more than just the music — and in this unfiltered second episode of Season 4 of The Tea with Myriam François, we dive into the political firestorm that shook the festival to its core.

Joining the conversation is Jordan Stephens — musician, writer, and one half of Rizzle Kicks — fresh off his first Glasto performance in nine years.

Together, we unpack why Palestine resonates so deeply with festivalgoers, what it means to be an artist in a time of protest and political pressure, and how music remains a powerful tool of resistance.

Jordan, who recently published his memoir Avoidance, Drugs, Heartbreak, and Dogs, also opens up about mental health, ADHD, heartbreak, as well as the emotional weight of navigating masculinity in a world that often fails young men, especially young Black men.

🛑 Glastonbury 2025 unpacked

🛑 What is the role of artists in politically charged times

🛑 The lineage of pain that underlies being a black man

🛑 Why is so difficult to be a man

🛑 Living with ADHD

This is a conversation about art, identity, and resistance — and what it means to speak your truth when the world would rather you stay silent.

In this thought-provoking episode of Season 4 of The Tea with Myriam François, we dig deep into one of the most urgent ideas of our time: collective liberation. What does it really mean in a world where dissent is policed and solidarity is splintered?

Joining us is Céline Semaan, Lebanese-Canadian designer, writer, and founder of Slow Factory, whose work fuses climate and social justice, political education, creative resistance and storytelling rooted in ancestral wisdom. From surviving war in Lebanon to challenging fast fashion brands, Céline brings lived experience to the table in a way that few can.

Together, we unpack whether digital platforms can truly foster revolution, what the consequences of elitism are in activist spaces, and how we can imagine a liberation that is truly shared at a time when even the idea of “collective” is up for debate.

🛑 What does collective liberation mean in a digital age?

🛑 The criminalisation of dissent

🛑 Fashion brands and genocide

🛑 Are we building movements — or feeding the algorithm?

🛑 How do we navigate contradictions in activism

🛑 Anti-intellectualism and fascism

This is more than a conversation, it’s a call to action to move from slogans to substance.

The World is a Joke! 19 Jul 202501:10:57

In this razor-sharp episode of Season 4 of The Tea with Myriam François, we sit down with comedian and political fire-starter Bassem Youssef to unpack the surreal state of power and resistance.

Bassem is a former surgeon who swapped scalpels for satire. Dubbed the “Jon Stewart of the Arab world”, Bassem brings his no-holds-barred analysis to questions that many fear to ask — about complicity, distraction, and how the elite keep uprisings in check.

From the fallout of the Epstein files to the IDF’s social media storms, we ask:

Who’s running the show — and how does humour disrupt their script?

Together, we explore the thin line between laughter and dissent — and whether satire still has teeth in an age of spin.

🛑 Who gets exposed and who gets protected in the Epstein saga?

🛑 What the IDF’s TikTok game tells us

🛑 Is comedy still a weapon against power or part of the circus?

🛑 Why is Superman making Zionists mad?

🛑 Why global uprisings are so easily crushed

🛑 The elite playbook: distraction, division, domination

This isn’t just laughs – because truth rarely sits easily.

Genocide for sale & the death of mainstream media! 25 Jul 202501:32:56

In this unflinching episode of The Tea with Myriam François, we sit down with journalist Ahmed Shihab-Eldin to confront the media’s complicity in power — and the price of telling the truth.

From abused children to erased journalists, this is a brutal exposé on how mainstream media narratives are shaped, sanitised, and sold. We break down how coverage of Gaza and Palestinian lives is distorted — and why "mistake" is the media’s favourite euphemism for mass murder.

We go far beyond headlines to expose:

🛑 The media’s “mistake” machine: how Israel’s atrocities are rebranded as accidents

🛑 How are Gaza journalists exploited by Western outlets?

🛑 What’s behind the media’s blind loyalty to the Israeli narrative?

🛑 The Francesca Albanese Report and the complicity of tech giants

🛑 The collapse of international law

This episode lays bare the dehumanisation of Palestinians — and the imperialist playbook behind the headlines.

This isn’t a conversation just about media bias — it’s about the fight for truth in an age of surveillance, censorship, and soft fascism.

Power and Resistance in a gaslit nation15 Aug 202501:14:50

“If you want fascism to rise, you have to convince white working-class people that their suffering isn’t caused by the elite who strip them of resources — it’s because Black and brown people are here. Muslims are here. Don’t you know?”

In this eye-opening episode of The Tea with Myriam François, we sit down with multi-award-winning powerhouse Kelechi Okafor and expose the uncomfortable truths the British establishment doesn’t want to confront — from the strategic use of anti-Black propaganda to distract from class warfare, to the growing surveillance state targeting working-class and racialised communities.

From the vilification of Diane Abbott to the state’s embrace of surveillance and Britain’s refusal to reckon with slavery reparations, we connect the dots between racism, authoritarianism, and the illusion of inclusion.

In this episode, we unpack:

🚨 Diane Abbott & the politics of silencing Black women

🚨 Britain’s refusal to pay reparations (and who did get paid)

🚨 Surveillance tech, the “Brit Card” & the creep of fascism

🚨 The class con driving division in the UK

🚨 What it takes to build real resistance & trust

This isn't just about racism. It’s about how the power protects itself — and how we can fight back.

Far-right, Zionism and Islamophobia: The Dangerous Alliance19 Sep 202501:17:53

Islamophobia has become a multi-billion-dollar industry in today’s Britain. And it’s playing a crucial role in empowering the far-right - whose agenda is rooted in fearmongering, exclusion, and a dangerous us-vs-them narrative.

In this eye-opening first episode of The Tea with Myriam Francois, award-winning journalist and historian Taj Ali helps us unpack the shocking connections behind Tommy Robinson - once bankrupt and jailed, now leading massive rallies. Who's funding his rise, and why?

We expose the hidden forces behind Tommy Robinson’s ‘Unite The Kingdom’ rally, and the dangerous narratives they’re pushing. We explore how powerful Zionist groups are using Islamophobia as a political weapon, distracting voters, crushing Palestinian solidarity, and pushing a pro-Israel agenda.

🚨 What is the real reason behind Elon Musk’s involvement in British politics?

🚨 How and why has the English flag turned into a symbol of exclusion?

🚨 The mainstreaming of the “Great Replacement Theory”

🚨 The rise of Islamophobia and the double standard in the political discourse

🚨 What does multiculturalism mean in today's Britain?

The Road to Palestinian Freedom26 Sep 202501:14:43

As Gaza is razed and Palestinians face extermination in real-time, the UK, France and other countries have recognised the Palestinian state.

But what does that really mean — when settler violence in the West Bank is at record levels, Gaza is under siege, and Israeli ministers are openly calling for ethnic cleansing?

In this searing episode of 'The Tea with Myriam Francois’, we speak with Palestinian activist Arab Barghouti. Arab is the son of Marwan Barghouti, also known as the “Palestinian Mandela”, who has been in an Israeli prison since 2002.

We expose the contradictions at the heart of Western diplomacy, the obsession with “non-violent” resistance, and the future of the Palestinian leadership — even in the face of an openly genocidal regime.

🚨 Does the Israeli government really care about the hostages?

🚨 Where does the Western obsession with non-violent resistance come from?

🚨 Why does Israel detain so many Palestinians? And what is the role that the Israeli prison system plays within the occupation?

🚨Why has the Palestinian Authority lost its appeal with young Palestinians?

Antisemitism, Racism & Identity Politics 03 Oct 202501:17:12

“You're talking about women? That must mean you're an Islamophobe. You're talking about Muslims? It must mean you're an anti-Semite.”

From the obsession with individual experience to the weaponisation of identity politics by right-wing and pro-Israel advocates, this episode of The Tea with Myriam François dives deep into the uncomfortable and urgent truths about identity politics today.

Joining us is Ash Sarkar, author and senior editor at Novara Media, to unpack how the Left has been fractured by a focus on “identity”, and how identity politics has turned into a competition for victimhood – or worse, a tool wielded by those supporting genocide. Meanwhile, working-class solidarity lies in ruins.

What if representation isn't progress — but the illusion of it? From Filipino content moderators to South Asian billionaires, this episode challenges the idea that shared identity means shared interest — and makes the case for a politics rooted in class, not optics.

⚠️ Why has identity politics become a competition for victimhood?

⚠️ Why is anti-racism so often used to silence dissent — especially on Palestine?

⚠️ Who really benefits from diversity in “the C-suite”?

⚠️ Can class-based unity rebuild what identity politics has broken?

⚠️ What are the pitfalls of DEI?

⚠️ Who sets the news agenda — and who benefits from it?

From Washington, DC to Gaza: The global assault on democracy10 Oct 202501:23:45

Palestine may be the frontline, but the war on truth and resistance is global.

From militarised streets in America to the shattered ruins of Gaza, in this episode of The Tea with Myriam François we sit down with Bassam Haddad, founding director of the Middle East and Islamic Studies Program at George Mason University, to explore the collapse of liberal democracy, the rise of authoritarianism, and the deep connections between the escalating repression in the US and the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

We dig into how disinformation, censorship and repression are increasingly being used to silence pro-Palestinian voices, and how both Democratic and Republican leadership have paved the way for today’s repression.

As Israel loses the battle for public opinion, we examine its pivot to paid propaganda and the erosion of its victimhood narrative.

We unpack:

⚠️ How the Democrats “set the table” for today’s repression

⚠️ The role of disinformation, AI, and tech censorship in silencing Palestine advocacy

⚠️ What’s truly at stake in the current ceasefire talks

⚠️ Why Israel is buying support to prop up its collapsing narrative

⚠️ What the "axis of resistance" in the Middle East looks like today

⚠️ What’s happening in Syria

This is a sobering, unflinching conversation about empire, complicity, and the urgent need to resist.

Power, Political Violence and the Fight for Resistance17 Oct 202501:28:57

“What we are seeing now is the naked face of power. And people are waking up to the fact that those in power no longer represent them”.

In this searing new episode of The Tea with Myriam François, we are joined by author and journalist Fatima Bhutto to connect the dots between power and propaganda — and to explore how we can build resistance.

Representative democracy is crumbling before our eyes, while dissent is being eroded and authoritarianism is on the rise. From the rising political violence to the legacy media’s complicity, and to the betrayal of feminist movements staying silent on Gaza, this is a conversation you don’t want to miss.

⚠️ What happens when journalism becomes propaganda?

⚠️ Is there still any meaningful difference between left and right?

⚠️ How has the feminist movement betrayed Palestinian women?

⚠️ What is left of representative democracy?

⚠️ What has Palestine become the litmus test for?

⚠️ How can we build a movement of resistance?

This is a sobering, unflinching conversation about empire, complicity, and the urgent need to resist.

Resistance in dark times 24 Oct 202501:27:14

Nine months into Trump’s second term, the National Guard is being deployed across the country, ICE are operating like a domestic paramilitary, tech executives wear military rank, and dissent is being frozen by fear.

Meanwhile, nearly 40% of Americans now say democracy isn’t worth the fight.

So how did we get here? And where are we heading?

In this gripping new episode of The Tea with Myriam François, we’re joined by public historian Tad Stoermer to unpack the rise of authoritarianism in the US — and what resistance looks like when democracy bends and when the machinery of fear is turned inward.

In a world where facts no longer seem to matter, how do we resist when the story we’re told — “us versus them” — is a cover for authoritarianism, and the “law and order” narrative hides the very machinery of control?

We unpack:

⚠️ When tech billionaires start wearing military rank — who’s really in charge?

⚠️ Inside the rise of the far-right Christian nationalists

⚠️ Trump’s “us vs. them” narrative — what makes it so dangerously effective?

⚠️ Trump’s war on education

⚠️ How Christianity became a cornerstone of modern authoritarianism?

⚠️ “Law and order” — or just another name for control?

⚠️ No Kings Day: Proof that democracy still breathes — or its last gasp?

⚠️ What can historical resistance teach us about how to fight back today?

The Algorithm of Genocide: Healing as Resistance31 Oct 202501:17:47

“What people need to understand is that the trauma of the past two years — not only for the people of Gaza, but for the entire world — is unlike anything we’ve experienced in our lifetimes.”

In this searing episode of The Tea with Myriam Francois, we speak with Ashira Darwish — a Palestinian trauma healer and a survivor of Israeli detention — about what this moment means for our collective nervous system, and how healing itself can be an act of resistance.

In a world where social media algorithms are engineered to keep us numb to genocide — where images of amputated children are livestreamed between cat memes and bikini thirst traps — self-care becomes an act of political warfare.

Ashira explains how liberation psychology begins with understanding where we come from — the lineages we carry, the traumas we inherit, and the ancestral keys we also hold for healing.

Together, we unpack:

🚨 Israel’s torture system in detention

🚨 How algorithms turn genocide into background noise

🚨 Why our nervous systems go numb — by design

🚨 Somatic work: healing intergenerational trauma

🚨 What fuels Israeli society’s capacity for violence

🚨 Liberation psychotherapy: healing as resistance

🚨 Why Western media misreads Palestinian resistance

This episode is about remembering that both trauma and healing are inherited. It’s about choosing not to go numb.

Nazi Science is Back!07 Nov 202501:16:49

From Trump’s claims linking painkillers to autism, to the UK government’s two-child cap policy, from Sydney Sweeney’s coded ad campaign to Silicon Valley’s billion-dollar dreams of genetic “perfection”, a chilling pattern is re-emerging.

Eugenics, once discredited as the pseudoscience of racial purity is back. Rebranded. Tech-fueled. Marketed as progress.

In this urgent new episode of The Tea with Myriam François, we’re joined by writer and historian Subhadra Das to unpack how eugenics has crept back into mainstream culture, from right-wing populism to “wellness” culture, and why understanding this ideology is essential to resisting it.

We unpack:

⚠️ Trump, Farage, and the rise of “bad science”

⚠️ Sydney Sweeney’s ad: What’s the real agenda behind her “blue jeans”?

⚠️ The UK two-child cap: economic eugenics in action?

⚠️ Eugenics and Gaza: deadly parallels

⚠️ How COVID changed the eugenics trajectory/discourse

⚠️ Overpopulation vs. underpopulation: what’s really at stake

⚠️ The shocking proposal for an autistic registry in the US

⚠️ Tech bros’ transhumanist dream: eugenics rebranded

⚠️ From Francis Galton to Elon Musk: the dark side of “progress”

⚠️ Real resistance: reclaiming our shared humanity

Eugenics as “science” might have been debunked, but according to Subhadra, eugenics thinking never really went away. As she reminds us: “It’s always about picking out a group of people who are seen to be a problem”.

“I was threatened, intimidated and hacked” EPSTEIN EXPOSED! 14 Nov 202501:36:29

From hacked phones and midnight intimidation attempts in Palm Beach to the string of mysterious deaths connected to the case. From victims fighting to reclaim their stories to a system that still protects the powerful, from the White House to Silicon Valley, this episode is one of the most disturbing and revealing we’ve ever done.

In this explosive new episode of The Tea with Myriam François, investigative journalist and author Lucia Osborne-Crowley pulls back the curtain on the most powerful, and most protected, criminal network of our time.

What emerges is a portrait not just of individual crimes, but of a world meticulously constructed to shield predators and punish victims and truth-tellers. As Lucia reveals, this was a system that spanned governments, billionaires, banks, tech magnates and international elites.

“This was the largest sex trafficking ring in modern history, and almost no one has faced consequences”.

We unpack:

⚠️ Epstein’s death – why the official story doesn’t add up

⚠️ Mysterious “suicides” – the deaths journalists ignored

⚠️ Power protects power – elites staying untouchable

⚠️ Media & myths – victims blamed and silenced

⚠️ Abuse psychology – the manipulation behind it all

⚠️ Maxwell trial – what the courtroom revealed

⚠️ Survivor stories – trauma, resilience, and humanity

As Lucia puts it: “Power protects power. It always has.” And this case isn’t just about Epstein — it’s about the systems built to shield people far more powerful than him.

AI will end Capitalism21 Nov 202501:29:11

"Billionaires are building bunkers because they're afraid AI might take over everything."

AI is advancing at a rate we've never seen before. From sex robots and chatbots helping with therapy to AI rapidly transforming industries, we’re already living in an AI-powered world. And in five to ten years, governments could be guided and run by AIs.

But is it really progress? Or is humanity heading for an AI apocalypse?

In this explosive new episode of The Tea with Myriam François, AI pioneer Emad Mostaque, co-founder and former CEO of Stability AI, lays bare the risks, challenges, and potential of this rapidly advancing technology. From the race to create the next "AI God" to the real-world consequences for jobs, the economy, and society, Emad pulls back the curtain on a future that is rapidly approaching — and may soon be unstoppable.

What emerges is a chilling portrait of an era where AI could reshape the global economy, obliterate jobs, disrupt entire industries, and even change the inner fabric of human relationships.

We unpack:

⚠️ AI replacing human workers — How soon is too soon?

⚠️ AI-driven inequality — Will billions be left behind?

⚠️ Labour revolution — Can a global labour movement take on the challenge?

⚠️ AI Ministers — Is Albania’s AI governance a model or a risk?

⚠️ The “revenue evil curve” — Do tech giants still have a moral compass?

⚠️ Environmental apocalypse — Is AI accelerating the collapse?

⚠️ Sex robots and AI chatbox— Will they redefine human relationships?

⚠️ A different future — Why we need a Universal Basic AI

As Emad warns, “This is an opportunity, but also a threat”. And the question is: “Which direction will we choose before it’s too late?”

The ICJ ruled

“In the Court’s view, the facts and circumstances mentioned above are sufficient to conclude that at least some of the rights claimed by South Africa and for which it is seeking protection are plausible. This is the case with respect to the right of the Palestinians in Gaza to be protected from acts of genocide and related prohibited acts identified in Article III, and the right of South Africa to seek Israel’s compliance with the latter’s obligations under the Convention.”

Joan Donoghue said on BBC’s Hard Talk

“[...] So the Court decided that the Palestinians had a plausible right to be protected from genocide [...] It didn’t decide that the claim of genocide was plausible. It did emphasise, in the order, that there was a risk of irreparable harm to the Palestinian right to be protected from genocide [...]”

"The super rich are blood clots to the body"28 Nov 202501:04:48

From working-class communities abandoned, neglected, and exploited, to the super-rich hoarding wealth and power, to the rise of racist, exclusionary politics - we’re trapped in a cycle of destruction.

In this new eye opening episode of The Tea, we dive into the deep-rooted issues plaguing society today, with critical theorist and viral creator Louisa Munch.

Louisa comes from Rochdale, a town once symbolising the hope of capitalism, now a casualty of systemic neglect and political manipulation. The far-right’s grip is tightening, but behind their rhetoric lies a simple truth: we’re stuck in a death drive where the past is fetishised and the future seems hopeless.

In this episode, we tackle:

⚠️ The myth of the “rich exodus” — Should we really care if billionaires leave?

⚠️ Neoliberalism’s death rattle — Why the system is dragging us down

⚠️ Wealth hoarding — How the super-rich are inflating costs for the rest of us

⚠️ The grooming gang scandal — The truth behind the headlines

⚠️ Gen Z’s nihilism — How do we fix the hopelessness gripping young people?

⚠️ Hope for the future — Can we rebuild a society that works for everyone?

As Louisa says, “We need to change the conversation from migration to wealth inequality if we’re ever going to change the material reality of people’s lives.”

"German police are punching Jewish protesters"12 Dec 202501:16:24

Germany has built its new identity on turning its back on its past, but at what cost? Today, the far-right is topping the polls, police violence is soaring, and free speech is increasingly restricted.

In this eye-opening episode of The Tea with Myriam François, we are joined by journalist and podcaster James Jackson to dive into Germany’s complex and troubling relationship with Israel, Zionism, and its own historical identity.

From Angela Merkel’s declaration that Israel’s security is Germany’s 'Staatsräson', to the silencing of Palestinian solidarity and dissenting Jewish voices, we unpack the dangerous intersections of history, politics, and power.

We explore:

⚡ Merkel’s 'Staatsräson', — when moral duty becomes state power

⚡ AfD surge — the far-right on the rise

⚡ Silenced voices — Jewish critics of Israel under pressure

⚡ BDS crackdown — civil society under siege

⚡ “Islamo-N*zi” — Manufacturing a new threat

⚡ The rush to remilitarisation

⚡ History weaponised — from the Holocaust to Gaza

The German approach to confronting history was to declare, “We were all guilty as a nation” - a line that conveniently absolves individuals of the blame.

“Ultimately it's a redemption narrative, a guilt pride - so you're proud of how evil your nation was and how you've accepted that.”

"This culture caters to pedophiles"19 Dec 202501:14:30

This week on The Tea, we sit down with one-woman powerhouse Jameela Jamil to dismantle some of the most deeply held assumptions about patriarchy, power, and who it truly serves.

In this urgent and unflinching episode, we challenge the idea that patriarchy primarily targets women. Jameela argues instead that it is a system engineered to subjugate men — for war, dangerous labour, and disposability — while convincing them that domination equals power. The real trick? Convincing men that women are the enemy, so they never see who is truly exploiting them.

And yet, the same system that treats men as expendable turns women into objects to be endlessly edited, infantilised, and erased.

Women are trained to erase themselves — surgically, financially, and emotionally — to serve predatory desires and impossible ideals. From fashion week to facelifts, the message is clear: disappear, stay small, stay young — or become irrelevant.

We unpack

⚖️ Patriarchy: an extraction system — men as disposable bodies for war and labour

⚖️ Division as strategy — why solidarity between men and women threatens power

⚖️ The beauty industry as erasure — self-mutilation sold as “self-care”

⚖️ Youthification & ageing — why self-knowing older women terrify patriarchy

⚖️ Economic resistance — how withholding money can reclaim power

⚖️ Self-knowledge as threat — when women know themselves, power is exposed

Jameela argues that, while power is slipping from our hands, a narrow window remains to reclaim it — not through placards alone, but through refusal, solidarity, and organised economic withdrawal.

As she puts it: “Men need to wake up and realise that we are all being screwed by the same system. And you would liberate yourselves by liberating us.”

“Comedian's have made themselves useful idiots for the Right!”27 Dec 202501:04:51

Comedy is supposed to make us think, challenge power, and hold the world up to a mirror. But what happens when comedians become tools for the powerful, softening politicians, chasing clicks, and avoiding tough questions?

When politicians use podcasts as free publicity, and “funny jokes” replace accountability, who’s really laughing, and who’s being played?

This week on The Tea, we are joined by stand-up comedian Aamer Rahman to take a hard look at the world of modern comedy and podcasts — and how they influence culture, politics, and public perception.

We unpack why much of today’s comedy, far from being “fearless,” is built on cynicism, engagement-chasing, and the avoidance of accountability. We examine how these dynamics shape audiences’ understanding of power, prejudice, and culture.

In this episode, we dive deep into:

🎭 Comedy as a tool — How comedians give politicians free publicity

🎭 Cynicism over responsibility — Why clicks often replace meaningful comedy

🎭 The illusion of censorship — Who really faces limits on free speech

🎭 Cultural influence — How subtle biases in comedy shape behaviour

🎭 Resistance through humour — How GenZ uses comedy to challenge oppression

Aamer exposes the intersection of entertainment, politics, and power — and challenges us to think critically about the media we consume.

Gold, Oil and Ego - Why Trump really kidnapped Venezuela's Maduro 10 Jan 202601:01:45

When a U.S. president treats the world like his personal business empire, the consequences can be catastrophic.

Eva Golinger, lawyer and strategic advisor to former Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, exposes how Trump’s audacious removal of Nicolás Maduro was all about ego - granting him power, headlines, and unfettered access to Venezuela’s resources.

Working at the forefront of Latin American anti-imperialism for decades, Gollinger - nicknamed “the bride of Venezuela” by Chavez himself - highlights how in Trump 2.0, it’s all about the optics.

From the violent seizure of Maduro to the installation of a compliant leader under Delcy Rodríguez, Golinger warns this chapter of U.S. interventionism could embolden strongmen everywhere - and rewrite the rules of international law entirely.

⚡ Trump and Venezuela — short-term obsession or long‑term US policy?

⚡ The myth of Maduro’s “narco-terrorism”

⚡ How Maduro’s kidnapping sets a new global precedent

⚡ Who is Venezuela’s new leader, Delcy Rodríguez?

⚡ Oil, gold, and rare earth minerals — Trump’s real objectives

“He has branded his name on everything…that's how he sees the presidency - as a business.”
