“The absolute worst” The Size 15 Runner ranks the worst running shoe logos from worst...to worst (2:11); he is so very proud to help Mattel launch their all-new, extremely fragile “Runner Ken” Doll (13:34); and he gets very hokey and creates hoaxes as he reviews the HOKA Bondi 9 (20:32).

48. "MTV Kickz," ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27, & More “New Rules” of Running15 Apr 202500:41:23

The Size 15 Runner is quite literally kicking and screaming as he hosts MTV Kickz (2:30); he does his worst Bill Maher impression as he declares more of the “New Rules” of Running (16:15); and he lets clouds cloud his judgement as he reviews the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27 (26:17).

  • ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27 — There’s nothing flashy about the Gel-Nimbus 27. No plate. No fancy foam. And it’s heavy. Perhaps most damning, it’s not very attractive. Also, its name is kind of lame. Yet, despite all of that, find out why The Size 15 Runner absolutely loves this shoe.

  • New Rules of Running Pt. 3 — You think you knew the rules of running? Think again. And then think yet again. Get ready to have your running perspective turned upside down, diagonally, and side to side, as The Size 15 Runner boldly declares more of the “New Rules” of Running.

47. “Severance for Runners,” 5 Worst Shoe Updates, & Saucony Hurricane 2408 Apr 202500:39:07

The useful The Size 15 Runner uses his expertise to usefully present the top 5 most useless shoe updates (2:42); he undergoes the severely controversial Severance procedure to sever his relationship with running (15:04); and he shares his whirlwind of emotions on the Saucony Hurricane 24 (27:09).

  • Saucony Hurricane 24 — Despite its problematic name, this is the rare stability shoe that should work for both neutral and pronating runners. Whether it’s referring to the number of partners in a steaming hot lovemaking session, or scoops of ice cream on a hot summer day, two is always better than one. Case in point: The Hurricane pairs PWRRUN PB with PWRRUN for quite the enjoyable ride.

  • Severance for Runners — Lumon Industries is proud to introduce an innovative new procedure for those runners who have a love/hate relationship with the sport. Most of the side effects are harmless…mostly.

  • Top 5 Worst Shoe Updates — There have been some great shoe updates over the past year! Unfortunately, The Size 15 Runner is here to talk about the horrendous shoe updates over the past year—updates that do not enhance the shoe in any noticeable or meaningful way, and do not elevate the experience of running in the pair.

  • ASICS Glideride Max Review — ASICS’ newest plated shoe with FF BLAST MAX isn’t just another max cushioned daily trainer; it’s one of the most versatile. The “basket case” aka The Size 15 Runner makes the case for why it’s also one of the most underrated shoes. What case will you make?

44. Brooks Glycerin Max, “Shoe Love is Blind,” & Do Shoe Colorways Matter? 11 Dec 202400:43:32

The Size 15 Runner wears a blindfold and tries to determine if running shoe love is blind as he launches a new season of Netflix’s “Shoe Love is Blind” (2:21); he questions the question of whether running shoe colorways actually matter and what color preferences say about runners (15:25); and he takes it to the max as he reviews the max-cushioned, nitrogen-infused Brooks Glycerin Max (29:50).

  • Brooks Glycerin Max — With the exception of its weight, the Glycerin Max is a huge (pun intended) upgrade from the regular Glycerin in every category. With its unique DNA Tuned midsole and one-of-a-kind looks, the Glycerin Max isn’t just another max cushion shoe. It’s one of the best, most fun, and stylish shoes of the year, in any category (spoiler alert).

  • Shoe Love is Blind — Can runners fall in love with a running shoe before seeing it? Find out on a new season of Netflix’s True Love is Blind! Blindfolded contestants will use each of their senses—except for sight—to try and determine if it’s “shoe love” at first smell, touch, hearing, and even taste!

  • Worst Shoe Companies — First, he roasted shoe brands’ idiotically-named midsole foams in episode 21. Then, he mocked their idiotic mottos in episode 30. Now, he’s back to skewer their idiotic names in episode 41.
  • New Rules of Running — Back in Episode 35, The Size 15 Runner so boldly declared the “New Rules” of running. You didn’t really think those were the ONLY "New Rules" of running, did you? Now, he’s back to present…more of the “New Rules” of running.

39. Brooks Hyperion Max 2, Ranking the Best Running Surfaces, & The Top Running Watches30 Oct 202400:46:32

The Size 15 Runner uses his “rank” as podcast host to provide the definitive ranking of the best running surfaces—ranked from worst to best (3:45); he names the best running watch to watch out for when watching out for running watches (17:13); and he goes into hyperdrive and becomes hyperactive as he reviews the speedy Brooks Hyperion Max 2 (31:23).

  • Brooks Hyperion Max 2 Review — Typically, the second edition of a shoe doesn’t see big updates. Companies feel compelled to release an update every year, whether or not they’re actually ready to, because…money. But not with the Hyperion Max 2. There are three significant changes to the updated pair that greatly improve it.
  • Ranking the Best Running Surfaces — Ever wondered what’s the definitive ranking of the best (and worst) surfaces to run on? Wonder no more! From sand to sidewalk and everything in between, I outline them, ranked from worst to best.
  • Top Running Watches — Introducing the Ronex—the world’s first running watch and luxury watch, in one. With a Ronex, you can track each hour, minute, and even second of a day. But not just a day—all days! Find out what else this hideously overpriced and hideous-looking watch can do!

38. The Max Cushion Shoe Trend, Running Shoe Geeks vs Sneakerheads, & Runners with the “Yips”23 Oct 202400:36:02

The Size 15 Runner maxes out his energy as he takes it to the max while discussing the max cushion running shoe trend and how brands are maximizing profits (3:05); he warns of the devastating side effects runners face when they’re inflicted with the “yips” (14:52); and he pits running shoe geeks against sneakerheads in the lamest head-to-head battle nobody asked for (25:59).

  • Max Cushion Shoe Trend — Does size matter? Running shoe companies sure seem to think so. Lately, every running brand and their mother are dramatically increasing the amount of midsole foam underfoot and naming their shoes some derivative of BIG. Find out why it’s a problematic trend.

  • The “Yips” and Runners — The “yips” is the sudden and unexplained loss of skills typical to an athlete’s ability. So, what happens to runners inflicted with the yips? Only the worst things imaginable. (And, no, not all who run can be considered athletes.)

  • Running Shoe Geeks vs Sneakerheads — There’s a centuries-old, nasty, bitter, hateful, scornful, and vengeful feud between running shoe geeks and sneakerheads that burns hotter than the fire of a thousand suns. There can be only one group of shoe lovers left standing when it’s all said and done. I make the case for why running shoe geeks shall reign supreme.

37. HOKA Skyflow, "Unsolved Running Mysteries," & How Runners Give the "Ick"16 Oct 202400:49:47

The Size 15 Runner gets icky with it as he describes the ways runners give him the “ick" (3:52); he attempts to solve one of the greatest unsolved running mysteries never solved (17:50); and he reaches for the sky as he reviews the HOKA Skyflow—a new shoe that has him feeling sky high and like the sky’s the limit (35:47).

  • HOKA Skyflow: Described by HOKA as a cross between the Clifton and Bondi, the all-new Skyflow is a max cushioned daily trainer that combines the word “sky” and the word “flow.”

  • The "Ick": A term usually used in dating, the "ick" occurs when one behaves in an especially undesirable (or icky) way that makes the other person in the relationship cringe to the point where it permanently ruins their view of them. In this episode, it's used to describe the insufferable behaviors of runners that instantly—and permanently—make me hate their guts. ICK!

  • "Unsolved Running Mysteries": 4th grade teacher Marcus O’Reilly was your average runner, a middle of the packer, if you will. He had run several 5ks before with no problem. But on October 16, 2004, something…was different. Much different. In the blink of an eye, his life was turned upside down…sideways...and diagonally.

36. The $500 Adidas Shoe, Marathon Training Struggles, & Building a Running Brand09 Oct 202400:37:32

The Size 15 Runner shares his thoughtful and thought-leading thoughts on the $500 Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo (2:49); he contemplates a rebrand in order to rebuild his tarnished brand (12:52); and he provides a tiresome update on his tiring marathon training and how he’s grown tired of running (26:26).

  • $500 Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo: What’s more ludicrous? The $500 price tag or the ridiculously long shoe name? Why not both?! The Size 15 Runner does, in fact, rail against both in a long-winded rant that quickly goes off the rails.
  • Marathon Training Struggles: What a difference two weeks make! Just a fortnight ago, The Size 15 Runner waxed poetic about his marathon training. This week, his enthusiasm was waning. He woke up on Monday morning, and it was the first time during his 11 weeks of training that he didn’t feel like going for a run. How did he possibly cope with such a catastrophe? By feeling sorry for himself, of course!
  • Building a Running Brand: The Size 15 Runner brainstorms how he can rebuild his tainted brand in the wake of his very unfortunate, potentially career-ending size 14 shoe incident caught on camera by TMZ.

35. “New Rules” of Running, New Balance FuelCell Propel v5, & The Size 15 Runner Origin Story02 Oct 202400:42:54

The Size 15 Runner rules with an iron fist as an unruly rule maker who makes the “New Rules” of running (3:51); he lackadaisically debuts the lackluster trailer for the severely lacking The Size 15 Runner Origin Story movie (14:26); and he effortlessly makes every effort to give a half-hearted effort at reviewing the underrated, budget-friendly New Balance FuelCell Propel v5 (29:29).

  • New Rules of Running: The Size 15 Runner does his worst Bill Maher impersonation as he obnoxiously declares the “New Rules” of Running. New Rule!
  • New Balance FuelCell Propel v5: Catch this—the catchy-named New Balance FuelCell Propel v5 is a $120 budget-friendly, eye-catching daily trainer with a TPU plate that offers a nice ride at a much lower price than other plated shoes. So, what’s the catch?
  • The Size 15 Runner Origin Story: The Size 15 Runner Studios, in association with The Size 15 Runner Pictures, presents a coming of age story…about one little very special boy….with one very BIG special defect: giant tootsies.

34. Ten Running Shoe Amendments, Use the Power of Running for Good, & Adding Commentary on Your Runs25 Sep 202400:42:45

The Size 15 Runner provides professional running commentary on amateur runners (3:00); he gets really corny by declaring “With great running power, comes great responsibility (18:14); and he takes the unauthorized liberty of amending the U.S. Running Constitution and describes the significance of the 10 Running Shoe Amendments (26:20).

  • 10 Running Shoe Amendments: The U.S. government passed sweeping running shoe legislation in response to exorbitant price hikes in running shoes and the accompanying whining by millions of running citizens—legal running citizens—the government assures you. What does it mean for runners like you?
  • Use the Power of Running for Good: All our time spent running could be regarded as self-centered. Except, running is the best form of self-care, and the health benefits we enjoy change us; we become better versions of ourselves, enhancing our relationships with others—or so we like to tell ourself and anyone who will listen. There are, however, many opportunities to make a positive impact on others while running.
  • Best Running Commentary: Let’s face it: your runs are boring. You run the same few routes in the same few shoes wearing the same few outfits. Isn’t it time you added some color to your running? Some color commentary, that is. Well, with The Size 15 Runner’s new service: A Running Commentary on Your Running, now you can.

33. How Shoes Get Named, Politics in Running, & From Benchwarmer to Marathon Runner18 Sep 202400:30:12

The Size 15 Runner doesn’t stick to sports—he sticks to politics and gets stuck being politically incorrect (2:09); he goes covertly undercover to discover how the most important part of a shoe—the name—is chosen…only to discover it’s the least important part of a shoe (9:46); and he not-so-humbly humble brags about going from couch sitting to marathon running (22:14).

  • How Shoes are Named: As a running shoe geek, I’vealways wanted to know how companies decide to name their pairs. If I can’t be a fly on the wall, I’ll put my phone underneath the conference room table to secretly record their meeting.
  • Politics in Running: There is a great divide in the U.S. and there’s an extremely crucial decision coming that American runners of all ethnicities, races, religious beliefs, and sexual orientations will need to make. Their choice could very well decide the country’s fate for/four years to come. Will you choose to be on the left side or the right side……of the road while running?
  • From Benchwarmer to Marathon Runner: I never dreamed I’d be running marathons. I mean, I never thought I’d even be running. Who chooses to run for fun? But, thankfully, I was introduced to the sport—or, rather, forced to go running by my dad—at just the right time in my life. It would take a while to stick with it, but once I did, my relationship to sports—and life—changed forever.

32. Top 5 Running Hacks, The Greatest Running Stores, & Choosing a Fall Marathon11 Sep 202400:38:28

The Size 15 Runner is a hack who delivers his top 5 pre-run hacks to help you hack your next run (2:52); he graciously visits the best running stores in America while behaving very ungraciously (14:18); and he won’t shut up about his next marathon (28:25).

  • Top 5 Running Hacks: Often, the hardest part of running is just getting off your butt and taking the first step outside. Fortunately, I’ve conveniently developed five pre-run hacks to help runners make it out the door—and not take an hour to get out said door—and step onto the pavement or trails.
  • Best Running Stores: My new show highlights the best, most unique running stores, running shops, and running shacks in America, including the great variety of products that separate each running store, running shop, and running shack apart from other running stores, running shops, and running shacks.
  • My Fall 2024 Marathon: I’m halfway through the 18-week training plan I’m using to attempt to run a sub-3-hour marathon. With nine weeks in the books (That’s halfway, right?), I reflect on my training and what lies ahead for the next nine weeks (That’s the second half, right?) leading to the 2024 Richmond Marathon.

31. Saucony Triumph 22, Using AI in Running, & Running with The Size 15 Runner04 Sep 202400:43:34

The Size 15 Runner explains how running with him is certainly an honor and a privilege—uncertainly (2:31); he discovers how to use AI for running—only to discover he doesn’t understand AI (12:34); and he reviews the triumphant, max-cushioned Saucony Triumph 22 which actually may not be so triumphant (29:07).

  • Saucony Triumph 22 Review: With the additionof Saucony’s stellar PWRRUN PB foam, the Triumph 22 is one of the most anticipated shoes of the year. But did the pair meet my lofty expectations through the first 60 miles? Spoiler: It either did or didn’t.
  • Using AI in Running: How can you use AI to enhance your running? Beats me! So, I put ChatGPT to the test to give me the answers.

30. Best Running Shoe Brands, The Greatest Race You’ve Never Heard Of, & Fueling Your Runs with Hearty Meals28 Aug 202400:40:26

The Size 15 Runner foolishly uses a foolish method to determine the top running shoe brands (3:51); he presents quick and easy meal solutions that he takes way too long to present (17:20); and he details in not-so-great detail how the greatest race you’ve never heard of was created (31:49).

  • Best Running Shoe Brands: Which running shoe companies have the best brands? It’s a subjective question that clearly has an objective answer. Let’s run through the top companies together and see if we can’t determine it. Spoiler: We can’t.
  • 'My Best Friends Are Cows' Race: Sometimes running motivation can be hard to find. Actually, most times it’s hard to find; running can really suck. Add in a global pandemic that cancels races and it becomes nearly impossible. Hear the story of how my brother made it possible for friends and family to race during COVID-19 and find hope and, I guess, motivation, too.
  • Fueling Your Runs: Your body is a temple—isn’t it time you started treating it like one? Whether you’re a serious runner training for a marathon or you’re a lazy sloth and run just once a week, proper nutrition is a must to optimize your performance. 29. Running Shoe Debates, Is Heel Striking Bad? & Boston Marathon Qualifying21 Aug 202400:35:57

The Size 15 Runner debates only the most crucial running shoe topics—debatably (3:37); he’s not at all bitter that he hasn’t qualified for the Boston Marathon—not bitter in the slightest (16:52); and he denies he’s in denial that he’s a heel striker (23:32).

  • Running Shoe Debates: Move over ‘First Take!’ ‘First Run’ is a new sports debate show that not only embraces debate, it demands it—about only the most crucial and controversial topics in running. Hear The Size 15 Runner debate a fellow running expert as they provide their hot takes on the hottest of hot-button running issues.
  • Boston Marathon Qualifying: Despite the cultural and historical significance of the race, the important role it plays in the running world, and my own desire to someday toe the starting line in Hopkinton and pass the finish line on Boylston Street, I won’t be heartbroken if I never get to run Heartbreak Hill. I may be bitter, but I won’t be heartbroken.
  • Is Heel Striking Bad? After all these years, I thought I was landing with my forefoot or even midfoot, not my dreaded heel! Yuck! This news was very hard to swallow. Heel striking is no way to run! To prove I don’t belong with heel strikers, I’m meeting with my sports psychologist to see if she can stroke my fragile ego and turn me into a forefoot — or, at least a midfoot — striker.

28. Benefits of Using Strava, Brooks Glycerin 21 Review, & Understanding Running Shoe Sizing14 Aug 202400:36:28

The Size 15 Runner has a surprisingly challenging time determining his shoe size despite his name; he puts forth shaky evidence for why Strava is the best social media app for runners; and he reviews the Brooks Glycerin 21, available in four mouthwatering varieties.

  • The Benefits of Strava: Strava is the largest sports community in the world that connects more than 100 million users through the sports they love. I make the case for why every runner and their mother should be using the best social media app. (No, this isn’t a Strava ad.)
  • Brooks Glycerin 21 Review: Like a fine wine, the Brooks Glycerin continues to improve with age. Of course, every other running shoe does, too. So how does the Glycerin 21 stack up against older versions of the shoe and other Brooks shoes?
  • Understanding Shoe Sizing: You may think you know your shoe size, but chances are, you’re measuring incorrectly. Even I have issues with it despite being The Size 15 Runner. I discuss all things shoe size—and all things everything else, too.

27. Running Shoe Traps to Avoid, Boilermaker 15k Recap, & “Run Hard, Long, Big and Firm”07 Aug 202400:37:37

The Size 15 Runner does a shoddy job outlining the biggest traps to avoid when buying running shoes; he recaps the 2024 Boilermaker 15k race in Utica, NY; and he debuts his questionable new book of memoirs: “Run Hard, Long, Big, and Firm.”

  • Avoiding Running Shoe Traps: There’s no more important decision in life than which running shoes to buy. We’ve all purchased running shoes we wish we hadn’t. To help runners avoid shoe buyer’s remorse, I’ve so graciously outlined the biggest decision traps to avoid.
  • Boilermaker 15k Recap: The motto of the Boilermaker 15k, the world’s premier 15k event, is “More than a race.” Truthfully, it made me scoff a bit when I read it on signage at the starting line. While that tagline may sound like a cliché, and indistinguishable from similar sentiments echoed by hundreds of other races, I discovered what that can maybe, possibly mean, during the 47th running of the iconic race.

  • Starting a Running Shoe Company: Fed up with being a boring nutrition company instead of an exciting running shoe company, one nutrition brand pivoted to create their very first running shoe. Hear the not-so-inspirational story behind how this new shoe came to be.
  • The Golden Running Rule: To wave, or not to wave? It’s the pivotal question when runners spot each other in the wild. But should it even be up for debate? I make the case for why runners should always follow the “Golden Running Rule” and acknowledge each other.…sometimes.

25. Justifying Running Shoe Addictions with Research, Road vs. Trail Running, & The Size 15 Runner Seminar Series24 Jul 202400:31:07

The Size 15 Runner insufficiently explains how to use research to justify your running shoe addiction to others; he pits road running against trail running in the lamest possible cage match as he attempts to determine which is more fun; and he launches his all-new 51-part running Seminar Series: “If it Ain’t Fun, Don’t Run it.”

  • Road vs. Trail Running: With the first pair of shoes with lugs added to my gigantic rotation, I hit the trails as I try to determine if it’s more fun than road running. Spoiler: I have no idea what I’m doing on the trails.
  • Research Supports Buying Running Shoes: Paying for experiences is more likely to lead to happiness than buying material goods. That’s a problematic finding for running shoe addicts like me. But when you consider the opportunities presented by good running shoes, you realize buying running shoes is a material purchase that leads to the best experiences life can offer. Discover how to justify that buying endless pairs of running shoes is a brilliant investment.
  • The Size 15 Runner Seminar Series: I draw upon my two decades of running experience to provide the most correct tips, tricks, tools, techniques, methods, educational guesses, and advice I've acquired to become one of the best runners in the world. And now, you too can become one of the best runners in the world—not as skilled as The Size 15 Runner, of course. Catch a sneak peek of one of the 51 seminar sessions you can experience.

24. Worst Running Shoe Updates, Running in Socks, & Committing to a Marathon17 Jul 202400:28:32

The Size 15 Runner uses his unimaginative imagination to consider what it’d be like if companies were honest about their bad shoe updates; he explains why ditching shoes in favor of wearing only socks can be quite beneficial on the run; and he inaccurately reflects on his marathon experiences to show how committing to a marathon can change your life, on and off the roads—and trails and sidewalks, but not treadmills. Treadmills suck.

  • Worst Running Shoe Updates: There’s nothing more exciting for runners than a great update to a running shoe. And, there’s nothing less exciting for runners than a terrible update to a running shoe. Unfortunately, I’m here to talk about the latter. Ready to discover your new least favorite shoes?
  • How the Marathon Can Change Your Life: With fall marathon training approaching, I thought I’d try and capture why the 26.2 mile-distance keeps me coming back despite the daunting undertaking. Simply put, committing to a marathon is committing to better oneself physically, mentally, and even spiritually—but certainly not emotionally.
  • Running in Socks: You foolishly fell for the barefoot running craze years ago. Then, after you got injured, or discovered how stupid you looked, you realized barefoot “shoes” were nothing more than a fad. So, now you’re happily riding on top of the max cushion running shoe wave. But, what if I told you, there’s an even better way to run? In socks!

23. Seven Sins of Running, Benefits of Running with Music and Podcasts, & Optimizing Your Hydration10 Jul 202400:30:58

The Size 15 Runner accidently stumbles upon the Seven Deadly Sins of Running; he ineffectually lists the benefits of running with music, podcasts, and silence; and, he details the various pros—and cons—of a revolutionary hydration method—drinking water!

  • Seven Sins of Running: The Seven Deadly Sins of Running are unearthed, shaking the running world to its very core. From wrath to lust and everything in between, avoid these running vices like the Bubonic plague. Come for the running bible study, stay for the random music references. Brad Pitt voice: “What’s in the box?!”

  • Benefits of Running with Music & Podcasts: As much as I love running, I still need a good podcast episode to keep me entertained for the long haul on those long runs. Or a “beast mode” playlist to help me tame that “beast” of a speed workout. Knowing I can take my mind off running and get lost in a good discussion or a memorable verse to help pass the miles is all I need to pass through my front door. Promise not to judge what I listen to?

  • Optimizing Your Hydration: There’s an innovative hydration method that’s taking the world by storm—quite literally! It’s got only two ingredients, it’s 100% natural, and has no preservatives, parabens, sulfates, or phthalates. But, consuming the proper amount can prove to be quite difficult.

22. Saucony Endorphin Speed 4, Diversifying Your Shoe Rotation, & All About Running Routes03 Jul 202400:30:07

The Size 15 Runner shares his questionable method to diversify a running shoe rotation; he tries his very best to review the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4; and he explains the greatest way to combat running boredom (beyond buying new shoes).

  • Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 Review: The Endorphin Speed 4 is practically the same weight as the Speed 3, the midsole still consists of a winged nylon plate and excellent PWRRUN PB (PEBA) foam, it has an identical stack height, and once again includes SPEEDROLL technology. So, what’s changed, then? Let’s find out together!

  • Diversifying a Running Shoe Rotation: Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are crucial principles companies use to advance their mission and promote a healthy work culture. Unfortunately, DEI is being hijacked by “Big Running” (not to be confused with “Big Tobacco”) under the guise of helping runners create a well-rounded running shoe rotation. Discover how.

  • All About Running Routes: If you ever find yourself looking for running motivation, it’s time to switch up your running routes! A change of scenery can do wonders. Unfortunately, I’m not the most intrepid runner, so, I guess, do as I say, not as I do?

21. Best Running Shoe Foams, HOKA Skyward X Review, & Rent-a-Running-Buddy26 Jun 202400:33:56

The Size 15 Runner uses a questionable method to rank the top running shoe foams from the top companies; he does a poor job reviewing HOKA’s behemoth carbon-plated super trainer—the Skyward X; and he introduces his new Rent-a-Running-Buddy service in which he’ll run with anyone…for a price…a very high price.

  • Comparing the Top Shoe Foams: The most important component of a running shoe is the midsole foam. No one cares about the outsole, upper, and especially not the asinine heel pull tab. How difficult is it to put on and take off a pair of running shoes?! So, how can you choose the best running shoe foams to match your picky preferences? You can’t.

  • HOKA Skyward X Review: The Goleta, CA-based company describes their Skyward X shoe as an experience that feels “entirely new and unmistakably HOKA.” They certainly made no mistakes here, except, maybe, on the looks. But when your biggest gripe with a shoe is the way it looks sitting on the shelf, rather than how it moves on the roads, it’s a great pair. But how does the super-sized super trainer perform on the trails? No idea—it’s not a trail shoe.

  • Rent-a-Running-Buddy: Finding a running partner is even more difficult than finding a life partner. Fortunately, The Size 15 Runner is here to introduce his new running service in which you pay him to go running with you. He'll be miserable the entire time you're running, but his wallet sure won’t be. Just promise you won’t fall head over heels for him?

20. A Running Sitcom, The Right to Bear Armfuls of Shoes, & Why Easy Runs are So Hard19 Jun 202400:31:38

The Size 15 Runner stumbles onto the set of America’s funniest running sitcom for an underwhelming cameo; he regrettably enters the “great shoe debate” as he defends his right to bear arms—full of running shoes; and he inadequately explains why easy runs are the most misleading workouts.

  • The Right to Bear Armfuls of Shoes: What side of the shoe debate are you on? Despite justifying his running shoe addiction to friends, family, and colleagues, The Size 15 Runner still gets judged each time he purchases a new pair to add to his arsenal. It’s his God-given right to bear arms—full of running shoes, and they’ll have to pry ‘em from his feet if they want to take ‘em from his running shoe rotation.

  • America’s Funniest Running Sitcom: An all-new season of the funniest running sitcom returns, with a season premiere so laugh-out-loud funny it’ll make you LOL…out loud! Plus, The Size 15 Runner makes the world’s shortest, weirdest, most lackluster, most unearned cameo. This is one season you may want to miss!

  • Why Easy Runs are So Hard: Ah, the “easy” run. Also known as a recovery run, it’s perhaps the most misnamed form of exercise. It’s the mirage of the training plan. From afar it sure looks like an oasis—we’re running a shorter distance at a slower pace, with no pressure to perform. But as many runners know, there’s more to it than meets the eye when our shoe rubber meets the road.

19. How Running Shoes Are Like Albums, The Definitive Running Rules, & Why Running On a Track isn’t Horrible12 Jun 202400:32:20

The Size 15 Runner sheepishly lists the top 5 reasons why the release of new running shoes is eerily similar to the release of new albums (reasons 1-5 just may shock you); he shares his questionable Running Rules: The Rules of Running: The Ultimate, Definitive, Absolutely Most Trustworthy Guide to Running; and he describes why the track is a runner’s playground (minus the fights at recess).

  • How New Shoes and Albums are Similar: Recently, I was eagerly anticipating the release of a new album from one of my favorite artists. It got me thinking about how the wait for the release feels eerily similar to the thrill of a pair of new running shoes releasing. Discover the top 5 reasons why these two exciting events are not so different—they’re…similar.
  • The Track is a Runner’s Playground: I used to view running on a track as the most soul-sucking (and sole-sucking) form of trotting, just a pinky toe’s length less horrible than the heinous treadmill. Running on a track is monotonous, predictable, and basic—three adjectives that also describe me—which is exactly why I’ve come to love it.
  • The Definitive Running Rules: Rules are made to be broken, but not The Size 15 Runner’s Running Rules: The Rules of Running: The Ultimate, Definitive, Absolutely Most Trustworthy Guide to Running. The only thing you’ll be breaking by following The Running Rules: The Rules of Running: The Ultimate, Definitive, Absolutely Most Trustworthy Guide to Running …is PRs.

18. Run Like Nobody’s Watching, New Balance FuelCell Rebel v4, & Why Shoe Uppers Matter05 Jun 202400:33:56

The Size 15 Runner awkwardly debates whether runners should run like nobody (or no one) is watching; he reviews the New Balance FuelCell Rebel v4; and he inadequately explains why shoe uppers actually matter.

  • New Balance FuelCell Rebel v4: The New Balance FuelCell Rebel v3 was one of my least favorite running shoes in recent memory. I only racked up about 30 miles in the shoe before I racked the shoe on my shoe rack, or, rather, in the heaping pile of other shoes on my closet floor. What a difference a yearly update makes! Find out why v4 has become one of my favorites. Or don't.

  • Run Like Nobody’s Watching: You’ve heard the saying, “Dance like nobody’s watching.” As a running nerd, I thought about the idea of running like nobody's watching. What would that look like? Do I run like no one is watching? Is it even possible to run, dance, or do anything without either consciously or subconsciously altering your behavior in the presence of others?

  • Why Shoe Uppers Matter: While runners base their opinion of a running shoe primarily on how it feels underfoot, the way the top of the shoe feels is sometimes just as important. Don’t buy it? Well, I'll make you buy it!

17. Judging Runners, Running vs. Driving, & Fixing Your Appearance After Running29 May 202400:28:25

The Size 15 Runner contradicts himself countless times while explaining why runners should never judge each other's shoes and gear; he lists the top reasons why running is more exciting than driving; and he presents an all-new drug that's proven to improve runners' physical appearance after their runs. The side effects are...mostly harmless.

  • Should You Judge Runners? Confession: I can’t help but check people out when I run. I’m an equal opportunity starer — both men and women catch my wandering eye. But I’m not gawking at their bodies — that'd make me a creep. No, instead, I examine the running gear they choose to wear...and make sure to never judge them. Ok, not never.

  • Comparing Running vs. Driving: As a straight male, I’m supposed to drool, mouth agape, over fast cars, loud motorcycles, and anything else with an engine and tires. But I gain far more pleasure from joyful runs than joy rides. Discover why I’d rather tie shoelaces than fasten a seatbelt.

  • How Runners Look Before vs. After Running: Everyone looks good BEFORE a run—well, not everyone. But AFTER a run is a different story. Two-Face isn’t just a notorious Batman villain. For runners, it’s the unfortunate condition we’re stricken with, before and then after running. Luckily, I'm here to present an all-new drug that's sure to improve a runner's appearance...with some mild side effects.

16. Most Innovative Running Shoes, "Running Shark Tank", & Old Port Half Marathon22 May 202400:29:10

The Size 15 Runner stumbles into the Shark Tank with a product so revolutionary that it leaves the Sharks speechless; he rambles about the most innovative running shoe pairs; and he recaps his Old Port Half Marathon experience in Portland, Maine.

  • Most Innovative Running Shoes: A pair of two different running shoes?! You better believe it! Check out one running company’s “shoe trailer” launching the most innovative pair ever while trying desperately to pander to every single runner.

  • "Running Shark Tank": I pitch my innovative product that will change running shoes for the better...forever. It's time to say goodbye to pull tabs! "Goodbye, pull tabs!"

  • Old Port Half Marathon: At the front of the pack with no racers in sight, I began the Old Port Half Marathon with a bang! I always wondered what it'd feel like to lead a race; I never thought it was possible. Wait, why are there no racers behind me? Oh, that’s right — I started the race a solid 10 minutes late.

15. Busting Running Myths, What I Wish I Knew Before Running, & How Running Routes Impact Mindset15 May 202400:29:30

I separate running fact from fiction by debunking the top 5 running myths; I answer the one thing I wish I knew before starting to run nearly 20 years ago; and I detail how the setting of a running route impacts a runner's mindset.

  • Running Shoe Reviews, Reviewed: How can you truly know if a shoe review is trustworthy? You can’t. Fortunately, The Size 15 Runner is proud to launch his all-new service: “Running Shoe Reviews, Reviewed.” He doesn't review running shoes—no, no, that’s child’s play. He goes one step further and he reviews other people’s reviews of running shoes.

  • Top 5 Running Myths: It’s often said there are a hundred reasons not to do something. When it comes to running, people seem to have a thousand reasons not to trot, backed by strange assumptions, faulty logic, and absolutely no evidence. What can you say, people are stupid. Look how smart I am when I debunk the biggest running myths.

  • What I Wish I Knew Before Running: I see an increasing number of articles, YouTube videos, and Instagram posts chronicling what runners wish they had known before starting to run. After taking time to reflect on my running journey, I came to a rather simple but powerful answer...

  • How Routes Impact Our Mindset: Running is one of the greatest ways to discover new roads, neighborhoods, trails, the best views, and any other part of the setting we call home. But, often times, we don’t have to stray from our beaten path to find a new perspective. Learn how different running routes can work wonders for us.

14. Comedy Special: Running Shoe Marketing, Monument Ave. 10k Recap, and A Running Playlist08 May 202400:27:10

I recap my first 10k (somehow) in 20 years of running—the Monument Avenue 10k; deliver my second comedy special: "What's the Deal with Running Shoe Marketing", and I drop the running game's hottest new album—hey, it beats running in silence...probably.

  • "What’s the Deal with Running Shoe Marketing?" The Size 15 Runner returns with his second "comedy" special. Just like in his debut, he sure is triggered, and he refuses to hold back as he rails against running shoe marketing. The question remains: is he humorous in the slightest or does he just love to yell at clouds (and pillows and trampolines)?

  • Monument Avenue 10k Recap: Despite nearly two decades of running, I had never registered for a 10k race. I’ve conquered everything from 5Ks to marathons, yet the 6.2-mile length was the one distance that eluded me. That all changed this past weekend, when I ran Richmond's Monument Avenue 10k with my wife through the scenic streets of Virginia’s capital city steeped in American history, albeit mostly a problematic one.

Sorry, walkers.

  • Brooks Ghost Max Review: Brooks continues to innovate their shoes, and the latest example appears in the form of a ghost—but this ain't your father’s Brooks Ghost. So, how does it compare to your father's Brooks Ghost?

  • Fast & Furious: A Runner's Urgent Need for Speed (Work): I know what you're thinking: this sounds like the lamest possible title of a sequel from the ridiculously long-running movie franchise. You’re not wrong. But, when it comes to running, speed work is the most exciting installment of a training plan.

  • Hot Running Weather in the Winter—Totally Natural: This winter, there was a week of unseasonably warm running weather throughout the east coast of the U.S. Listen to the inner monologue rattling around my fevered brain during one of these uncommonly warm runs.
  • Dating App for Runners: Just as it’s nearly impossible to find the right pair of running shoes, finding a partner for either romance or a drunken, sweaty one-night romp that leaves you both feeling regretful and even lonelier in the morning and severely questioning your life choices, is equally difficult. • Around the Crown 10K: How do you choose races to run? If you’re like me, you don’t consider a race’s impact on a community, its residents, or the planet. Guided by three pillars—inclusivity, sustainability, and elevating the city of Charlotte—Brian Mister, co-founder and race director of the ATC10K, provides a shining example of the transformative impact a race can have beyond race day.

9. Fueling with Energy Gels, New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v13, & How to Actually Enjoy Running03 Apr 202400:30:07
  • How to Actually Use Energy Gels: Some athletes use steroids to gain a competitive advantage. I have enough pimples, hair loss, and extreme mood swings to last me a lifetime. The only injection I want is a shot of ooey, gooey fluid from energy gels. However, it's easy to get caught up in the "energy gel game" and find yourself constantly chasing the “sugar high.” To help others overcome their energy gel addictions like I did, I moderate an “Energy Gel-aholics Anonymous” meeting and you're invited!

  • New Balance Fresh Foam 1080 v13 Review: You’ll think I’m insane (and you’re not necessarily wrong), but I tried versions 10-12 of the New Balance 1080 and returned each of them. I was about to give up on the shoe, but then v13 arrived. The shoe’s overhaul offers one of the softest rides on the roads, but is it too soft?

6. Best Time to Go Running, Do Outsoles Matter? & ASICS Gel-Nimbus 2513 Mar 202400:30:13
  • Best Time to Go Running: As an anxious person, I tend to worry about the smallest things that have no impact on my life. That’s, perhaps, no more evident than when I’m figuring out when to run. Do I go running in the morning? At night? What about the middle of the day? It’s ironic that something so enjoyable can cause me unneeded stress. To help runners like me, I’m sharing my “expert” opinion on the best time to run.

  • Do Outsoles Really Matter? It’s the most overlooked and underappreciated component of the running shoe. It’s not the sexiest or most exciting part, it gets the dirtiest and wears down the quickest, and it’s the only part you can’t see while running. But the next time you’re in the market for your next shoe, you'd be wise to give the bottom of the shoe a good, hard look, in addition to the midsole and upper.

  • ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25 Review: ASICS says this shoe will make you feel like you’re landing on clouds, and others will describe the shoe as pillowy soft. Personally, the shoe reminds me more of a blanket — a security blanket. It’s a shoe runners can depend on to provide a supremely comfortable run with ample protection from the pavement and fatigue. Find out why it's one of my favorites.

2. Love Letter to Running, Shoes as Rom-Coms, and Long Live Long Runs14 Feb 202400:34:35

It's Valentine's Day and we've got a love-themed episode!

  • Buying Shoes Through a Rom-Com Lens: Buying running shoes can often feel like entering into a romantic relationship. And just as a relationship can lead to love, you can fall head over running-shoe-heels for your footwear. But what happens when the running shoe magic (and outsole) starts to fade?
