Wealthy Woman Standards10 Nov 202500:28:50

In this episode, I dive into a topic inspired by a listener's question: What are the new standards for women who crave wealth? My own definition of wealth and success has evolved dramatically over the past few years, and I share how that journey has shaped my business, my mindset, and my life.

Key Topics:

  • The difference between leadership and "CEO energy," and why they aren't the same thing

  • The myth of passive income and the realities of building sustainable, repeatable systems in business

  • Why it's essential to create a business model that matches who you are now—not who you used to be

  • The importance of profit over vanity metrics, and how to evaluate what's really working in your business

  • Letting go of industry standards and defining wealth on your own terms

  • The power of boundaries, clarity, and knowing what truly makes you feel wealthy (for me: time, space, support, and experiences)

  • The value of mentorship and support tailored to your unique energy and business model

From her earliest memories of feeling "out of body" to navigating a challenging medical journey that was repeatedly dismissed, Alana shares how a rare genetic condition and the loss of her father became catalysts for her spiritual awakening. As a former registered nurse with over 20 years in healthcare, she brings a unique blend of scientific knowledge and spiritual wisdom to her work.

Your Health & Wealth Are Deeply Connected with Chris Borsellino31 Oct 202401:07:58

Ever felt completely in the dark about your finances? In this special episode, I'm joined by my husband of 29 years, Chris Borsellino – a retired carpenter turned financial advisor who's passionate about helping people understand their money in ways they never have before.

We dive deep into:

  • Our own journey from being in debt with a young family to finally taking control of our finances

  • The eye-opening difference between earning 4% vs 8% interest (spoiler: it could mean $700,000+ over 30 years!)

  • Why most of us have never been taught how to make our money work for us

  • The small daily habits that could be costing you thousands without realizing it

  • How to start tracking your money like a pro (even if you think you don't have a dollar to spare)

What I love most about this conversation is how Chris breaks down complex financial concepts into simple, actionable steps. Just like I'm passionate about helping women understand their bodies, Chris is committed to demystifying finance so everyone can build real wealth – no fancy jargon required.

Whether you're struggling with debt, trying to save for retirement, or just want to feel more confident about your financial future, this episode will give you the practical insights and motivation to take charge of your money story.

P.S. We even share some personal money mistakes we made early in our marriage – proof that it's never too late to turn your financial life around!

The Power of Menopause With Nicole Scott And Melissa Hyde10 Oct 202400:52:25

In this episode, I have Nicole Scott and Melissa Hyde here, and, you know, we have been friends and colleagues and have known each other through the fitness industry, the nutrition industry and through being mothers going through all of the changes that life has brought.

In the last, you know, few years, I have watched both Melissa and Nicole create a really amazing transition of taking a company that they had built and grown side by side as friends and colleagues and mothers, but now really stepped into a place of education and empowerment for women. This stemmed from going through their own experiences in perimenopause and menopause, at times feeling like they were the only ones that were going through what they were going through.

They both went through very different experiences, which we're going to spend time talking about because as a woman listening, I think it's so important to hear the variety of ways that we can move through these times in our life. If you only ever hear one experience, you may feel like you're on an island of struggle by yourself.

Then we're going to talk about a really exciting event that's coming up that all three of us are apart of and share about, it's is going to be free for all of you to attend and to share with all of the women in your life.

Is It Adrenal Burnout Or Is It This?07 Oct 202400:43:10

In this episode, Jenn discusses her recent decision to take a de-load period, a break from her usual intense training and pace, to focus on recovery and nourishment. She explains that this decision was prompted by her body's need for a change, as she had been pushing herself hard for the past year and a half. Jenn notes that this decision is not just about physical recovery, but also about mental and emotional rejuvenation. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing the signs of adrenal fatigue, such as physical and mental exhaustion, and taking steps to reduce stress and toxicity in one's life. Jenn also shares her personal experience of feeling the need for a de-load, and how it has shifted her focus from building muscle to optimizing recovery and mobility. She encourages listeners to reflect on their own needs and consider taking a de-load period if they feel the need for it.

The Hormonal Issue You Might Not Know You Have With Dr. Lara Briden03 Oct 202401:02:56

In this episode, I am so excited to have our guest, Lara Briden, back here for the second time. It's been a couple of years since we've done an interview, and we are long overdue. There is a brand new book, that has been released out into the world, which is Metabolism Repair For Women. I'm just so thrilled for this book because it goes very deep into topics like insulin resistance and the fact, as you said, this is a hormonal issue that so many women are dealing with.

I'm so grateful at the accessibility and how much for women's health is changing right now and what is out there, but it's also very overwhelming and very confusing. Even as a practitioner, sometimes you're like, oh, my gosh, which direction do I look in, let alone for the everyday woman and mother and human that's just trying to move through life.

How This One Test Can Revolutionize Your Hormonal Health, Perimenopause and Menopause Experience30 Sep 202400:52:48

In this episode, I've been talking in a couple of episodes recently about the importance of gut health. I did one a few weeks ago, all about IBS and the real warning signs that can come with that.

We run a lot of stool testing inside of our clinic. When we talk about different testing to run, in an ideal scenario, you would have comprehensive, complete blood work that is done. What this does provide you an opportunity from a serum level perspective in your blood to understand in this snapshot in time and what's been going on in your health that's been building up to a lot of your symptoms that you have going on, what is potentially contributing to that. So blood is always going to be the best.

When we're looking at thyroid markers and full hematology panel, your differentials getting a better understanding of what is going on with iron. Although for true iron pictures, you have to look at what's going on in the gut.

What Stage Of Perimenopause Are You In?23 Sep 202400:45:17

Today is actually an impromptu recording. I had another episode that was going to go live this week, but I just came out of being a guest expert inside one of my colleagues workshops that she was hosting. And I feel so riled up based on a lot of the questions and the concerns, the shares and honestly, the confusion that so many of the women had inside of this.

We talked a lot today about perimenopause, around a lot of the confusion, thinking that your period has to change in order for perimenopause to even be something that has started to think that you have to have every single symptom under the sun in order to be in perimenopause.

Believing the statistics that when we hear the average woman is 51 years old when she goes through menopause, that that means that you're only going to be around 50 when you go into perimenopause, because it only takes a year. I sat there and thought to myself, isn't it so wild how we live in a time right now where we have access to thousands of podcasts? I'm not the first one that you have listened to, and I definitely won't be the last one.

We have access to hundreds of thousands of YouTube channels that we could tune into.

We have Instagram.

People were following Snap and TikTok and Facebook and blogs and email and you name it. And yet still we are confused, we are frustrated, and we are overwhelmed when it comes to understanding our own body.

Your Nervous system in your 30's, 40's and 50's is CRITICAL and possibly the missing link to your health goals16 Sep 202400:48:19

In this episode, I am dropping in with a couple of reminders, maybe not even reminders, maybe these are things you're hearing for the first time about how to really be supporting your nervous system in your forties. I'm saying in your forties, but I think that these are things that you should be doing in your twenties, your thirties, your forties, your fifties, your sixties, your seventies.

I really do believe that these are actually tips for better, healthier nervous system support for all of us that are living at this time, in this moment in history. Because it's a lot, everything that we're dealing with on our handheld devices is non stop information and notifications and, binging and dinging and pming and dming and all of the things that are coming at us from our phones or iPads, laptops, we are just constantly bombarded.

For so many, we can feel like we wake up and, we're eating a healthy breakfast and we're having a healthy lunch and we're eating good food throughout the day. On the surface, you feel like you are doing everything right, but there's this energy in your body or this fatigue, this kind of exhaustion, your body feeling depleted or feeling deficient and you can't quite put your finger on it.

And a lot of the time, especially for women's health and hormones.

5 Things I stopped doing in my 40's12 Sep 202400:30:56

In this episode, I get asked a lot about the things that I do in my life, and I was recently speaking at a women's event and one of the questions that they asked those of us on the panel were things that we stopped doing in our forties. I was like, oh, I had to think about it. I could tell you things that I started to do in my forties, but the things that I stopped doing in my forties. The first thing that came to my mind was I stopped drinking alcohol and I got my butt to bed. But there is more!

Simplicity in 6 For Weight Loss & a Fit Body in your 40's05 Sep 202400:41:18

In this episode, we are chatting about my simplicity in six tips for weight loss and for creating a really fit, strong body in your forties. Now, at the time of this recording, I'm just a couple of weeks away from turning 45, so I'm officially into my mid-forties.

I know everyone says this when they hit a certain stage of their life. Well, maybe not everyone, but it seems to be my experience in having conversations with a lot of women. I grew up hearing when you hit your forties, that meant you were old and after 40, your body kind of just felt like it fell apart and went downhill.

My experience has been the opposite, at least in the first half of my forties, and I feel more connected to my body than I ever have in my forties.

In this episode, I am stoked to have Bria Gadd here today, who is known as the period whisperer. She spends her days, time and energy both in her practice and her podcast, helping women reclaim the knowledge that their body has and move to a place of empowerment and knowledge so that they can feel vital and thrive in their bodies, premenopause, menopause and beyond, instead of living the life that many of us have been taught, which is just to survive and get through it.

Not today, not on our watch.

Is Your Gallbladder Connected To Your Perimenopause Symptoms And Difficulty Losing Weight29 Aug 202400:40:22

In this episode, We are talking all about your gallbladder health and perimenopause. This is a really under discussed, overlooked area of our health at any point in our life, but most definitely when we're starting to experience an increase in hormonal symptoms, inflammation, digestive issues, you know, bowel issues, skin issues, energy, weight loss, all of the above. It's something that I see really often in my clients.

In the last couple of years, what I recognized is that there was a direct correlation with, liver stagnation and signs of liver toxicity, or maybe not even toxicity, but just sluggish liver activity, meaning that the liver was not able to do the job that it was meant to do as well. Therefore, we were starting to have some upstream and downstream impact in terms of side effects or symptoms, rather, and the role that the gallbladder was playing in that.

It's very difficult to work on one without working on the other and making sure that they are equally supported, because the liver and the gallbladder, they are working within one another and depend on the health of each other.

Reclaiming Birth with Kristen Nagle26 Aug 202400:43:08

In this episode, I am joined by Kristen Nagle, who is a former registered nurse. She was a registered nurse for 14 years and primarily worked in the NICU.

It is said that our children forever change us and Kristen experienced this more than she ever knew possible.

After the birth of her first son, she became really passionate about the food for her children and how she was nourishing and taking care of them. She ended up enrolling in the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, where I actually graduated from in 2001.

She became a Holistic Nutritionist on top of being a nurse working in the conventional medical care system. Her second son had some issues after being born and being exposed to some of his early childhood immunizations, which really opened her eyes up, especially working in that industry. It really just, peeled off this kind of top layer of us being able to, as parents, as mothers, ask questions when our child's body is exhibiting something that would feel outside of the norm of our baby.

Then in having her third baby, her little girl, this really felt like her redemption birth, which would forever change the perception of how incredibly strong women are and the beautiful gift that we have been given in motherhood.

So now her passion has transformed from being inside the walls of the hospital and being out into the world and helping women find their power to truly reclaim their birth.

IBS is a warning sign and it will impact your Perimenopause22 Aug 202400:36:45

In this episode, we are talking all about IBS irritable bowel syndrome and specifically how it can impact your experience moving through perimenopause into menopause itself and then post-menopause. As I've talked about in previous episodes, and share so much in the content that we email you weekly and that we put out onto Instagram. If you're in my programs, you probably know this at such a degree of understanding, which makes me so happy. But we, again, are not simply moving through hormonal changes in perimenopause. We are going through systemic changes throughout our entire body, and our gut is a huge place of those shifts happening.

So you may have been able to manage or micromanage small symptoms here and there that would kind of show up previously. In perimenopause, this is that period of time where you will most likely have some new symptoms that arise, or you'll have a flare up and intensity will start to increase and frequency around those symptoms.

Bloating, Gas, Constipation, Reflux and Gut Issues in Perimenopause19 Aug 202400:49:00

In this episode, we are navigating gut issues and perimenopause, bloating, gas, constipation and reflux. This is an area that I think gets overlooked a ton in perimenopause because we've made the main thing about period symptoms, hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, weight gain, all of those things that definitely matter and will happen throughout that journey. But there are so many other symptoms and signs that the body is giving us that things need a different level of support as we age that are usually being overlooked and being dismissed.

Creating the life that you want at any age with Nicole Scott05 Aug 202400:57:15

Today we're having a different type of conversation on the podcast. It's not directly related to your hormone health, or to Perimenopause...but it might inspire you to make different decisions for yourself and your lifestyle, which can impact you in a multitude of ways.

In this episode, I'm joined by my dear friend Nicole Scott. Here I am a Perimenopause educator and Nicole is in Menopause educator. While this conversation isn't directly about your hormones - it IS about taking radical responsibility for how you choose to live your life and how to make choices that align with how you want to feel.

This conversation was sparked when I went to visit Nicole at her second home in Mexico back in February.

One day, she took us out on the ocean onto paddleboards, and there were dolphins swimming around us, and there were whales out off the coast.

I just had this moment when we were out there, and it was so quiet. I turned to Nicole, and I was like, Can you even believe that this is your reality?!

She was able to create for herself the opportunity to go down there for six months of the year and work from Mexico. To really allow herself the spaciousness to just feel and be and breathe in a different way.

We've decided to do a podcast episode talking about the different roads we've travelled down in our careers and, the courage it's taken to do things differently and how we've both ended up here with greater time-freedom and flexibility at this age and stage.

As human beings its hard to know what is possible for us if others who have created it aren't sharing it or talking about it.

If this is a level of freedom you want for yourself, this conversation will help you to consider how you can make different choices in your life to get you a step closer to how you want to feel.

Let's dive in!

Clarity creates Acceleration! Biz owners this one is for you!22 Jul 202400:50:43

on this Monday, we are changing things up a little bit. Typically, I would come on and talk to you about health and hormones and fitness, nutrition, perimenopause, something in around that vessel of information. But today we're going to talk about creating clarity in your life.

Now, I'm going to talk about this through the lens of creating more clarity in the work that you do in the world, in business, and the way that you generate revenue and profit and cash flow and essentially bring money into your home and into your wallet and into your bank account.

So this might be for you if you are an entrepreneur, maybe you are a subcontracted employee and you don't view yourself as an entrepreneur, but that's exactly what you are. You could be working for a small business or another company, but you contract yourself out.

You are, in fact, your own business. You are an entrepreneur.

It can be very difficult to have the attention and the focus and the clarity on knowing exactly it is that you want to do and then how to take that want, how to take the vision, the idea, and now put it into something that is tangible or practical in a way that you can have a payment fee around, that, this is a program or a service or whatever.

I have had clarity, clarity on what it is that I wanted to talk about, on the offers that I've wanted to create and put out into the world, on my marketing, my advertising, and then how to take action to make those things happen.

Let's dive in and learn about the importance of clarity!

WHY Does Your Health Really Matter To You ~ A Quickie Solo Pod With Jenn08 Jul 202400:28:05

Today's episode is a Simplicity quickie. This is a bite-sized one. I actually just finished doing a training session with a girl that I have been doing personal training with, and she's been training me. One of the reasons that I decided to take on an in person personal trainer for myself is that there is something really powerful about having in-person accountability. I want to talk about taking steps to put your health first with no excuses.

You're Not Lazy — You're Depleted: The Truth About Women's Exhaustion22 Sep 202500:23:49

In this episode, I'm uncovering the real reasons behind women's exhaustion. Tune in to discover why women feel depleted, not lazy.

Key Topics:

  • The difference between being lazy and being truly depleted

  • How chronic stress, overworking, and constant caregiving create the "perfect storm" for burnout

  • The impact of hormonal changes (adrenals, thyroid, estrogen, progesterone) and nervous system dysregulation on women's health

  • Why traditional advice like "just get more sleep" often misses the mark

  • The cultural shift that celebrates overworking and labels rest as laziness

  • The importance of listening to your body's signals and trusting your own experience

  • Practical strategies for healing: nervous system regulation, breathwork, morning sunlight, strength training, and micro-moments of rest

  • Why "less is more" when you're in repair mode, and how to build resilience over time

  • Encouragement for women in perimenopause, menopause, and all stages of life to reclaim their energy and well-being

Women's Health & Hormones for Your Practice in Business24 Jun 202401:38:45

This episode is for those of you that are practitioners, and I'm really going to be talking to you today through the lens as a practitioner that is running a business, that is building out a business.

This was originally recorded as a webinar with slides, so if you want to watch the replay with video, you can sign up here and I'll send it to you: https://webinarkit.com/webinar/registration/66561b1f72756a8b655b0d0b

Whether you are in an actual true clinical setting or  if you are running something that is online.

I think these are the most important five pillars right now. I'm emphasizing in this time right now because I have been in this industry for almost 30 years now and there's always a period of time where we feel this shift that happens, where the energy, the topics, the things that we need to bring into our practice, the tools we need to access the type of education and the resources we need as coaches and as practitioners to then bring into our practice for our clients, for our customers, for our patients.

The Myths of Menopause with Kristin Johnson and Maria Claps17 Jun 202401:18:04

Maria and Kristin join me on today's podcast. Maria and Kristin are the founders of Wise and well, and are incredible trailblazers and educators in the community of women's health and hormones. Their voices are only going to be heard more widespread as their book comes out and their education continues to move around the world. I love that both of these women have a very direct no B's approach to educating. Maria, an FDN practitioner, and Kristin, a Board-certified nutritionist, are plainspoken friends and practitioners who share a passion for women's health, especially women's health at midlife. As both are themselves menopausal, they've refined the art and science of thriving as a midlife woman based on both clinical and personal experience. They combine individualized nutrition and lifestyle changes tailored to midlife women's needs with mindset coaching, lab testing and hormone replacement therapy education to help women thrive so that they can stop or prevent their health from spinning out of control.

The Perimenopause Project27 May 202400:49:44

In this episode, I am sharing exciting announcements and a lot of changes that have been going on behind the scenes. I am here to be part of a revolution that has to happen in women's health. One where we are participants in our bodies instead of always being bystanders.

That's why I've created what I have here. So change doesn't have to feel overwhelming, scary or awful. When you know what to expect and you understand how to manage changes happening, you're going to be relieved and happy to realize that your body can get better over time.

Your body can get stronger over time.

Your body can get fitter.

Your body can get leaner.

You can get more vital and more vibrant over time.

And I promise you that that's possible. I see it happen in my own body.

I see it happen in all of the women that we work with.

You can tell the difference of someone who is surviving and getting through their day or their life and someone who is thriving.

This is what I am bringing to life in my brand new course, which is called The Perimenopause project.

Holistic Solutions for PCOS + Endometriosis With Megan Kroeker20 May 202401:52:36

In this episode, Megan and I dive into holistic solutions for PCOS + Endometriosis. My mom had a radical hysterectomy due to her endometriosis and at the time, there was not a lot of education and support. This is why we decided on this topic for this masterclass, because we receive messages daily, whether on Instagram or Facebook, in response to the podcast, or in emails, from women who are struggling.

Endometriosis affects about one in ten women. It takes about eight to ten years to be properly diagnosed. Often the only solutions we're given are to go on the birth control pill, to use an IUD, or some form of pain management or suppression.

Alignment Unleashed with Nikki Piotrowski13 May 202400:54:39

I am joined by Nikki Piotrowski today, who I met in the fall of 2023 at an event that was filled with incredible entrepreneurs and wellness-preneurs and just humans that were on this different path and trajectory in life that came together.

And I'm so happy that we connected and we've been building a friendship and a workshop together this year.

And I said to her, I really want to have you on the show.

So many women show up here in my community and share hardships over life, motherhood, entrepreneurship, in their body and life and all of these things.

And I really do know that a big part of the healing that happens is when we hear others share their story.

And so that is why I asked Nikki to be here today - she has a powerful story that I think will resonate with many.

Breast Health with Dr Jenn Simmons06 May 202401:10:58

Today we're diving into something that has been part of some of our previous episodes, but I have yet to do an entirely dedicated interview that is all about our breast health, and especially when we're talking about things like breast cancer and warning signs and, you know, testing and imaging and what to do when or if you have a diagnosis in your life and so much more.

And so I am thrilled to introduce you to doctor Jen Simmons, who's an integrative oncologist.

She is a three time author. She has her new book that is out now that we'll be chatting about today.

She is the founder of Perfection Imaging, and she started her professional career as Philadelphia's first fellowship trained breast surgeon and spent 17 years as Philadelphia's top breast surgeon.

Her own illness herself led her to discover functional medicine and so enamored with the concept of creating health rather than fully focusing on killing disease.

She left traditional medicine in 2019 and founded Real Health MD, which is here to help women along their breast cancer journey to truly heal.

400 Episodes! What I am celebrating in biz, life & what I am focusing on as I turn 45 this year29 Apr 202400:51:39

This week's episode is celebrating something pretty amazing, which is the 400th episode of this podcast. The show is going to be turning six this year!

When I first started this show, my commitment was to create a learning space for women who were eager to expand and to achieve deeper knowledge in their bodies, in their minds, their emotions, while also expanding their businesses, and growing their finances.

I really wanted to bring together this energy that I have now called The Audacious Woman, where we don't have to live in perpetual sacrifice and always trading time for energy and time for money and time for resources.

We actually do get to choose and that it gets to be fun and it gets to be exciting, and there gets to be a lot of curiosity and dabbling and experimenting along the way, and that is part of the journey.

And so one of the quotes that I have had for many years, and it was in the first show notes on September 29 of 2018, was that our personal wellness journey is one to be enjoyed and not forced, and that we are all craving a deeper level of connection.

And I still believe this wholeheartedly to this day.

This podcast has actually been a beautiful landing place for me in terms of connection with so many of you in the community.

And so when I had posted, what should I talk about in this 400th episode? A big one that came up was my greatest and biggest lessons and integrating all the elements of health and life and motherhood and business and relationships.

So that's what we're diving into today! Grab your head phones and let's do this.

The Burnout Cycle You Don't See Coming — And How to Break It Before It Breaks You18 Sep 202500:26:16

In this episode, I'm getting into the five critical questions every online business owner should be asking themselves right now. With personal insights from my own entrepreneurial journey, I'm discussing the importance of authenticity, alignment, and strategy, and offering actionable advice for building a business that truly feels like you.

Key Topics:

  • The importance of loving what you do and building a business that feels authentic

  • Evaluating where your revenue is actually coming from (and what drains you)

  • Operating from alignment vs. hustle and avoiding burnout

  • The value of having a clear growth strategy (vs. winging it)

  • The power of mentorship, support, and community in business growth

The Five Questions:

  1. Am I building a business that actually feels like me, or just one that looks good online?

  2. Where is my revenue really coming from, and what offers or clients energize or drain me?

  3. Am I operating from alignment, or from a place of fear and hustle?

  4. Do I have a strategy for growth, or am I just winging it?

  5. Who is supporting me as I grow—am I investing in mentorship and community?

Mastering The Midlife Shift ~ Strategies for Ambitious Women to Navigate Perimenopause and Menopause in Biz and Life22 Apr 202400:49:30

Today, I really want to highlight and focus on mastering the midlife shift that we go through into our forties and beyond.

I'm sitting here as a woman who is 44. I'll be 45 this year, which, when I say that, I'm like, holy heck, when did that happen? But at the same time, I also have such a level of reverence and actually a lot of joy for being where I am at in life now.

In this episode I'm talking specifically about mastering the changes we're going through midlife in perimenopause and into menopause and then the rest of your life that you live post-menopause.

Let's dive in!

Redefining what it means to win in 2024 with Kaylor Betts15 Apr 202401:21:10

I am recording this on the other side of a full month in Costa Rica at our home as a family.

And let me tell you what a gift for my mind, body, and soul and to spend the time that I did with my family and friends.

I feel so relaxed and so rooted and calm, and yet at the same time, so excited to get back into a rhythm and a routine and back into the work that I do, which I love so much.

And today's episode was actually talking about some of the different ways that I have redefined what success feels like, what winning feels like in my life.

And this is actually an episode that I recorded with my very good friend Kaylor Betts in our brand new studio in Kelowna, BC.

What you will really walk away from this episode with is actionable steps about how you can start to create gradual adjustments and mindful decisions in your own life to avoid burnout, and how to achieve sustainable success, how to create that balance or equilibrium, and how to pursue success that is aligned with your values.

It would be amazing if you would go and share this with all the people that you want to see, you know, wake up and win in their life and create more aligned action, which leads to more simplicity.
