James van den Bergh, Chief Executive Officer of TruFin #TRU discusses their Trading Update for the year for the 12 months ended 31 December 2023 where he says each company is doing incredibly well the current forecasts showing 150% upside are conservative.

Financial Highlights
- Revenue is expected to be no less than £20.2m representing year-on-year growth in excess of 32%
- Adjusted EBITDA loss is expected to be ahead of prior expectations at no more than £(3.0)m, representing an improvement of more than 47% year-on-year.
- Cash at year end is no less than £9m, of which unrestricted cash is no less than £5.5m, and the Group is fully funded to profitability

Oxygen
- Number one position in the market in 2023 & profitable growth
- Scaling revenue and profitability in 2024 and beyond
- Early Payment clients purchased two or more products in 2023
- Pipeline exceeding 100 potential Early Payment clients

Satago
- Lloyds Banking Group existing Bank clients are expected to migrate during 2024
- First 'new to Bank' customer onto the platform. 
- Interest in its digitised proposition both from UK and overseas banks. 
- Revenue increased more than 70% to £3.8m. 
- The number of paying subscribers more than doubled to 967 (FY22: 430). Significant subscriber growth is expected to continue in 2024 and beyond.

Playstack 
- Launched three critically acclaimed games, The Last Faith, AK-Xolotl and CityScapes: Sim Builder. 
- It also secured six platform deals across five separate titles. 
- Revenue for 2023 was no less than £8.0m (FY22: £6.3m). 
- This was short of expectations due to platform deal delays. 
- Despite these delayed platform deals, Playstack achieved its target of EBITDA profitability in 2023 after postponing some budgeted costs to mitigate the impact of the revenue shortfall. 
- Playstack remains in advanced negotiations on the delayed platform deals. 
- In 2021, 85% of Playstack's revenue was generated from one game; in 2023 Playstack generated 85% of its revenue from eight games. 
- With a healthy back catalogue and a further six major games slated for release in 2024, this trend of revenue diversification is set to continue.

“UK inflation is set to drop markedly for October amid continued efforts to tackle the higher cost of living, the governor of the Bank of England has said.

Andrew Bailey indicated inflation will return to its recent pattern of slowdowns after the Office for National Statistics (ONS) recorded a surprise pause last month, leaving inflation at 6.7 per cent in September.

The Bank of England previously forecast that Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation would hit 4.9 per cent by the end of the year.

Inflation is expected to fall significantly this month due to a comparison against sharp energy price increases seen over the same month last year.”

Actual = 7.9%
Forecast = 8.2%
Previous = 8.7%

Even Core CPI (YoY) (Jun) which BoE pay attention to is below forecasts...

Actual = 6.9%
Forecast = 7.1%
Previous = 7.1%

The Producer Price Index (PPI) Input (YoY) (Jun) 

Actual =  -2.7%
Forecast =  -1.6%
Previous = 0.4%

If input costs fall, some of the decline will be enjoyed as wider profit  margins by the producer and some will be passed on to the consumer in  the form of lower prices.

This eventually feeds into CPI

I think the bottom is behind us.

Good Energy is a supplier of 100% renewable power and an innovator in energy services.

 It has long term power purchase agreements with a community of 1,700 independent UK generators who are independent businesses, non profits and local communities, spread all over Britain.

THE CEO

In April 2021 Nigel Pocklington was announced as the successor to Juliet Davenport the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Good Energy.

This transition is part of the continuing evolution of Good Energy from its roots as a simple green energy provider to a newer world green energy services and 'mobility as a service' provider.

Nigel most recently served as Chief Commercial Officer of Moneysupermarket.com Group plc. Prior to this, he held a variety of senior roles within Expedia Inc., including President of eBookers and Chief Marketing Officer of Hotels.com. He spent a decade of his early career at Pearson plc, including a period leading the digital operations of the Financial Times.

On 20 January 2022 they announced the disposal of its 47.5MW generation portfolio to Bluefield Solar Income Fund for a total consideration of up to £24.5m. 

This generation portfolio of two wind farms & six solar farms supplied 15% of their customers. They now have long term power purchase agreements with a community of 1,700 independent UK generators that supply their 277,000 customers. 

This sale of their generation portfolio was part of their strategy to transition to a higher margin energy services provider.

Energy Services, this includes Solar Installation & generation, Heat Pumps & Transport

Through acquisitions they now have a business that can install solar panels, heat pumps and manage customers generation.  They are the second-largest feed-in-tariff operator in the UK, and has one of the highest profitability/customer in the industry.

Transport:
They also own 49.9% of Zap-Map, the UK’s No.1 EV charging map iOS/Android app. 

It allows users to search for EV charging points, plan journeys and pay for charging. It has 600,000 customers and recently raised £9m, £5.3m was from from Fleetcor, (NYSE: FLT) is a leading global business payments company that helps businesses spend less by providing innovative solutions that enable and control expense-related purchasing and payment processes.

The net margin is therefore expected to increase from 0.6% in 2023 to 1.7% in 2024, which is more than doubling.

They had £38m gross cash at the end of May, which is considerably larger than its market cap.

Good Energy rejected a 400p hostile bid in 2021. Canaccord, their brokers, have a target of 475p, current sp 174p.

Canaccord:
“At our unchanged 475p target, which continues to be based on a sum of-parts, the stock would trade at 13x/8x 2024/25E P/E, and still with a substantial net cash position. We remain Buyers”

MY OPINION
Good Energy are the original renewable energy company have loyal customers who are of the same ethos, which is to champion green energy decentralisation. 

As a company they are profitable, pay a dividend and have a big chunk of cash, around £20m. Some of this will be used to acquire complimentary businesses to enable them to expand further into the green energy, higher margin, services sector. This is a sector that is growing and will continue to grow for decades backed by global regulation to cut carbon emissions.

Their revenue generation of £240m+ pa means even a slight improvement in margins, which will happen as they transition from energy supplier to energy service provider, could see a major positive re-rating on their valuation.

People are bearish… why?

Because of all the economic data out there, it’s not good.

Yes but the reality is the markets have priced a heck of a lot of this in. It’s been falling for 18 months.

Now with this in mind, the fact the markets have been pricing this in advance - when do you think the markets will start pricing better economic data in advance?

How much money do you need a year to do the things you want to do?

If you had a million pound and had it in a high yielding dividend fund, let’s say it would pay you 5%, you’d get £50k per year.

From the age of 20, you would have to put £500 a month aside and assuming you can earn 5% interest a year, you’d have £1m by the age of 65.

That’s a lot isn’t it? I don’t think many 20 year olds can afford to put £500 a month away.

So how can you hit that £1m egg nest by the time you’re 65?

Firstly you need to buy a house - as you can leverage your investment.

You can put 10% down on a property and get an average return of 5% - 10% 

Then you put any savings in a low cost well diversified fund.

Then with the remainder you try to double, treble or ten bag your money with small, micro or nano caps.

How much money do you allocate to this?

Depends on your age.

Take your age and add half. This should be your portfolio’s exposure to a well diversified low cost fund.

The rest you dabble on wealth creators - these are high risk / reward stocks - that could potentially top up your retirement fund.

So how much should you have allocated to a low cost diversified fund?

40 + 20 = 60%
50 + 25 = 75%
60 + 30 = 90%

The recent performance of the AIM All Share Index & 10 Facts About Bear Markets

The AIM ALL Share is at a new low at 760 from its all time high

Last low was at 770 in October last year.

It’s now down 42% from it’s all time high 658 days ago.

The last time it was at this level during the dash for cash crash in April 2020. 

This was a quick dip that recovered. 

Previous to this, it was last at this level on 4th August 2016.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he understands that people will feel 'anxiety' following interest rate hike, adding that he's '100% on it' and it's 'going to be okay'.

Bank of England Rate Rise Actual = 0.5% Forecast = 0.25% Current Interest Rate = 5%

The AIM ALL Share has closed at 767.07 down (-0.82%), below it's October low of 775.61 

Even though the CPI (YoY) (May) came in unchanged at 8.7%  when it was forecast to come in at 8.4% the PPI or Producer Price Index is telling a different story.

The Producer Price Index measures a change in input prices of raw, semi-finished or finished goods and services. It's a good indicator of future inflation. It dropped by -1.5%, predicted to come in at -0.5%.

This is the biggest drop since lockdown in May 2020.
