Annae Jones has never had it easy. Born without arms, she has always had to find a way, so when her life started to allow for her to find time to express herself, it is no wonder that foot painting became her new outlet for her artistic endeavors. Garrett George has a very interesting and all too familiar story.  His parents divorced while he was very young & he became an angry young man who ended up at a Boy’s Ranch meant to serve as discipline for his actions.  After graduating high school and starting out in the world, he fell victim to addiction and the pitfalls of a life on the wrong side of the law.  After experiencing devestating loss and running afoul with the law one final time, he knew he needed to start anew.  He spent his time helping others, getting people who would otherwise have no opportunities to do things he took for granted, the chance to fish, hunt or meet a hero.  The genuine joy in his voice when he talks about the people he helps and the dreams he facilitates cannot be faked. The first episode of 2022 is a great chat with a man who was recently released from prison after spending 19 years serving a sentence for his role in a home invasion and then a shooting.  Jesse Crosson ended up participating in those activties for all the reasons you are imagining, but his time in prison was spend doing things that may not be as intuitive.  He got a degree, read voraciously and even shared a cell with a serial killer! But when he was granted a surprise release last summer, he quickly found that he had a lot of things to get caught up on if he was going to help people like he had always envisioned.  He immersed himself in the social media world and started getting his message out on Tik Tok (@second_chancer) and IG (@second_chancer434) and is currently working to help people reintegrate into society after their time in prison is over. Moms.  What can you say about moms that hasn't already been said a million times?  Mine is no different, she has always been a huge supporter of *most* things I have tried in my life and I felt like no "Supporting Act" edition is complete without an appearance by her.

Of course, she is positive and optimistic, but she also provides the little tidbits that help me understand why I gravitate towards this.

On this episode of The Second Act Podcast, we sit down with a gentleman who, other than my wife, probably had the most impact on my decision to start this podcast.  Jason Jackson and I worked together for a number of years and our discussions were always very influential on my point of view of any situation we were mulling over.  We don't always see things the same by any stretch, but we find the same things funny.  We have very different opinions of success, failure, and what is worth it but we know exactly why the other thinks what he does.  We get each other, even if we aren't always on the same page.  And, I think everyone needs to have someone like that in their lives to help them grow and understand.  He has done a number of different things over the years, including walking away from a seemingly un-quittable corporate job to pursue a lifestyle that results in far more riches than a simple bank statement could ever measure.  Having to have my points sharp and thought out before embarking on the discussion is what has made me want to do this.  I hope you enjoy listening to this conversation as much we did having it.  I doubt it, but I hope so.
