| The Second Act Podcast Episode #45 - Cassandra Prochera | 07 Mar 2022 | 00:52:46 | |
If you’ve been around a motocross track or sledding parking lot in the interior of BC, you may have heard a girl say “Hey…I’m Cass!” to someone! It’s even more likely if you were doing something unique and that looks like a pile of fun! Cassandra Prochera is a really energetic young lady, whose niche in life is being carved out more and more every day. An electrician by trade, but a photographer/moto rider/sno-biker and spokesperson by choice, she has a really interesting story about thinking she was doing the right things, trying something new, knowing she was in for a crazy ride and putting one foot in front of the other to test it all out! Cass doesn’t profess to have it all figured out, but that’s half the fun! She rides and wires and snaps her way into all kinds of fun situations and when she needs a little help, she just looks around and says “Hey..I’m Cass!” until someone can point her in the right direction! | The Second Act Podcast Episode #41 - Brad Wall | 07 Feb 2022 | 00:46:02
Getting to write your own ending is all anyone can ask for in any career, but a politician getting a chance to go out on their own terms is really incredible. This week's guest had a successful run as the Premier of Saskatchewan, leading a new party on a decade long run in power and walking away while on top. People thought there was more in store for Brad Wall, politically and in the public eye, but as you will hear on this episode, he knew the day he called it that his political life was over.
Now, as he tries other things in the private sector, he talks about his children, his wife and what they plan to do in the future together. It's a great tale of what can be when you keep forging ahead and walk bravely into your Second Act!

The genuine joy in his voice when he talks about the people he helps and the dreams he facilitates cannot be faked. Garrett truly feels blessed and he's here to share his story, so people know the destination of the road your on can change.

| The Second Act Podcast Episode #36 - Jesse Crosson | 03 Jan 2022 | 00:53:11 | |
The first episode of 2022 is a great chat with a man who was recently released from prison after spending 19 years serving a sentence for his role in a home invasion and then a shooting. Jesse Crosson ended up participating in those activties for all the reasons you are imagining, but his time in prison was spend doing things that may not be as intuitive. He got a degree, read voraciously and even shared a cell with a serial killer! But when he was granted a surprise release last summer, he quickly found that he had a lot of things to get caught up on if he was going to help people like he had always envisioned. He immersed himself in the social media world and started getting his message out on Tik Tok (@second_chancer) and IG (@second_chancer434) and is currently working to help people reintegrate into society after their time in prison is over.
It was a lot of fun to have Jesse on the podcast and his positive mental attitude is infectious and uplifting. He doesn't ask for sympathy, just your attention. He wants people to understand what the folks coming out of prison are equipped with so that people can successfully reintegrate. Won't you join us for an hour to hear his message?

Her comedy is epic and her persona is unforgettable. She is a trend-setter-without-trying and a reluctant influencer who cannot help but set the bar. But, she is also a lady for whom performing came naturally and the seemingly effortless cool and comedy that permeates her IG feed and prolific output that can be found online is the result of years of honing her craft. She is gracious and honest as she lets us have a look at who she is when the cameras aren't rolling and she guides us through the physically and mentally demanding journey that has led her to this place.

| The Second Act Podcast - The Supporting Act - Wanda Kiteley | 21 Aug 2021 | 00:17:36 | |
Moms. What can you say about moms that hasn't already been said a million times? Mine is no different, she has always been a huge supporter of *most* things I have tried in my life and I felt like no "Supporting Act" edition is complete without an appearance by her. Of course, she is positive and optimistic, but she also provides the little tidbits that help me understand why I gravitate towards this. This was a lot of fun for me, I think Mom enjoyed it and we hope you find a little glimpse into our lives interesting.
| The Second Act Podcast S1 E16 - Jason Jackson | 16 Aug 2021 | 00:56:39 | |
On this episode of The Second Act Podcast, we sit down with a gentleman who, other than my wife, probably had the most impact on my decision to start this podcast. Jason Jackson and I worked together for a number of years and our discussions were always very influential on my point of view of any situation we were mulling over. We don't always see things the same by any stretch, but we find the same things funny. We have very different opinions of success, failure, and what is worth it but we know exactly why the other thinks what he does. We get each other, even if we aren't always on the same page. And, I think everyone needs to have someone like that in their lives to help them grow and understand. He has done a number of different things over the years, including walking away from a seemingly un-quittable corporate job to pursue a lifestyle that results in far more riches than a simple bank statement could ever measure. Having to have my points sharp and thought out before embarking on the discussion is what has made me want to do this. I hope you enjoy listening to this conversation as much we did having it. I doubt it, but I hope so. Music furnished by bensound.com Promotional Consideration Provided by @chinwhiskersco (chinwhiskers.ca) Executive Producer: Liam Kiteley
| The Second Act Podcast S1 E15 - Brady Leavold | 09 Aug 2021 | 01:10:39 | |
On this episode of The Second Act Podcast, we sit down with a podcaster and addiction support champion. He has lived it all, is on the other side of the tunnel and has devoted his new lease on life to helping others with their addiction and recovery with his pucksupport.com website. His name is Brady Leavold and I first heard him on the Shaun Newman Podcast (episode #176) and I was riveted by his story. Being a great hockey player cuts young men a long rope in Canada and Brady tried everything to fashion a noose with it. Pregnancies, drugs, rehabs, second/third/fouth chances, OD’s and redemption. This is a great discussion about a journey that is just beginning. Buckle up, this is a great one. | The Second Act Podcast S1 E14 - Bill Down | 02 Aug 2021 | 01:03:42
On this episode of The Second Act Podcast, I take an opportunity to call upon someone I worked with in my career whose resume couldn’t possibly state how involved and varied his life experiences were to that point. Bill Down has enjoyed a long successful career in the oilfield that was preceded by a long and successful career in the restaurant industry. He shares the genesis of that choice, the events that lead to his escape, for lack of a better term, to the oilfield and the leadership style he has honed to this point in his career. It was a fun chance to share an “anyone can do it” message, as Bill has no superpowers, just a will to be great and an inability to settle. | The Second Act Podcast S1 E10 - Mikyla Grant-Mentis | 05 Jul 2021 | 00:50:07
This week we sit down with the Toronto 6’s Mikyla Grant-Mentis, who is the current MVP of the National Women’s Hockey League. So, yeah...kinda a big deal! (my words, not hers). Mikyla talks about growing up around hockey, playing around the GTA and getting a scholarship to Merrimack in Massachusetts. She came out and slid right into an NWHL opportunity, which she took full advantage of. Not a true Second Act, more like a Second Act under construction, but interesting nonetheless. | The Second Act Podcast S1 E9 - Steve Cadigan | 28 Jun 2021 | 01:00:09
You know that feeling when you shoot for the stars and it sticks? Well, that's what this was. I reached out to Steve Cadigan, he of 90,000 Tik Tok followers, countless keynote addresses and a resume so varied and and steeped in hiring royalty that you have to wonder how he finds the time.
Well, he found the time and he was incredible. Going through his life, his career and the many roles he has held with the who's who of the SIlicon Valley, he shares tales and tips about dealing with people on all rungs of the corporate ladder and helps us use those lessons in our everyday life.
It was a reminder for me that if you ask, the worst they can say is "No" but the most amazing thing they can say is "Yes" and mean it. Buckle up for an unbelieveable look into a unique and mind blowing career.
Check out Steve online at stevecadigan.com, on youtube or @stevecadigan on Tik Tok. He also has a podcast called The Work Week After Hours with Shane Howard and a book coming out in Aug 2021 called Workquake . He has an incredible amount of material out there, all thoughtful and useful if you are in a spot where you are trying to understand interacting with others in this world.

This week we are fortunate to have Sam Ridgewell drop in for a discussion about her journey to becoming a professional hockey player, a place where all Canadian kids dream of being. It was never easy, it wasn’t even always apparent there was a prize at the end of the road, but she persevered, with a ton of support from her family and supporters. She shares the ups and the downs and talks about going back to school after begging her parents to just let her stay home and how that led eventually to being on the National Women’s Hockey League’s Toronto 6! Her humble, honest nature is apparent in this discussion and we are so excited to be able to share it with you.
