Step Brothers is a 2008 American comedy film directed by Adam McKay, produced by Jimmy Miller and Judd Apatow, and written by Will Ferrell and McKay. This is the story of Brennan Huff played by Will Ferrell, and it’s the story of Dale Doback played by John C Reilly. Brennan and Dale come together as Step Brothers when they’re parents end up falling in love, getting married, and moving in together. Brennan and Dale are unique in that they are in their 40s, they both still live at home, with their parents, Nancy and Robert played by Mary Steenburgen and Richard Jenkins… they are the definition of man children, and all of the chaos in the world erupts… when these two step brothers are forced to live together. There are also supporting performances in this movie by Adam Scott, Kathryn Hahn, and Rob Riggle.

The Lake House is a 2006 fantasy romance directed by Alejandro Agresti. It’s based off a South Korean film. The Lake House is the story of Kate Forster played by Sandra Bullock. Kate is a physician living in Chicago and she starts a new job at a downtown hospital. She moved from a really unique lake house outside the city and she leaves a note for the next tenant to let them know a few quirks of the house. On Valentine’s Day the new tenant of the house Alex, played by Keanu Reeves arrives, discovers the letter and also discovers some discrepancies with the note. As Alex writes back to Kate we realize that they are communicating through time. Alex is living in 2004, 2 years to the date before Kate, and through the mailbox at the lake house they can actually communicate… and perhaps… fall in love?

Two Night Stand is the story of Megan played by Lio Tipton. Megan is single, unemployed, crashing at her sisters apartment… we get the impression life has not been kind to Megan lately.

After an embarrassingly awkward run in with her ex Chris, Megan decides to join a dating website. Immediately she matches and starts chatting with a guy named Alec, played by Miles Teller. Megan, in a spontaneous episode of pure adult antics throws caution to the wind and decides to immediately meet up with Alec AT his apartment… and that is the origins of our story for Two Night Stand.

Legally Blonde is a 2001 romantic comedy directed by Robert Luketic.

It’s the story of Elle Woods, Reese Witherspoon, a fashion merchandising student and sorority girl from South California. She is dating Warner Huntington III played by Matthew Davis.

Elle seems to believe that Warner is going to propose to her but we LEARN, that is not the case. Warner is going off to Massachusetts to study at Harvard Law School and he is BREAKING UP WITH ELLE because she doesn’t fit this ideal partner if he intends one day to go into politics. He needs a Vanderbilt or a Kennedy or some kind of person with a historic last name and a strong family.

Undeterred by this Elle Woods makes it her mission, to go from being a fashion obsessed SoCal sorority girl, get in to Harvard to prove to Warner that she is who he wants her to be…

Palm Springs is a 2020 romantic comedy directed by Max Barbakow…

This is the story of Nyles, played by Andy Samberg, we meet Nyles and his girlfriend Misty played by Meredith Hagner at a WEDDING, in Palm Springs.

It’s the wedding of Tala (Camilla Mendes) and Abe (Tyler Hoechlin).

We quickly learn that Nyles is maybe depressed, a little apathetic about life, and moreover, the common theme for NYLES, is that every day is exactly like the last day, and tomorrow, will be exactly like today… and we go through the day, AND NIGHT, of this wedding through the point of view OF Nyles.. And ultimately we realize that for NYLES, that concept… is the truth, the date is November 9th 2019 and Nyles is STUCK in a TIMELOOP, nobody else remembers that the day has repeated, JUST NYLES, who is stuck, in Palm Springs retracing the steps of this wedding every day…

Our boy Ronnie yearns to be with the popular crowd, specifically he likes his next door neighbour Cindy Mancini, high school cheer captain and all around popular high school socialite, played by Amanda Peterson… 

After Cindy spills wine on her moms expensive suede outfit. Ronnie seizes his opportunity, he convinces Cindy, if I buy you a replacement for that outfit, you need to go out with me for a month… thus the popular kids at school will accept me as their own and I will reach my goal… of finally being… COOL…

The Switch is a 2010 romantic comedy by Will Speck and Josh Gordon based on the short The Baster.

The Switch is the story of Kassie Larson played by Jennifer Anniston. She is the eternal optimist, her life is going PRETTY well, BUT, there is one thing missing, motherhood, she wants SO BADLY to have a baby, however Mr. Right has yet to come along.

We also have Wally Mars played by Jason Bateman. He is Kassie’s best friends, heads up, they also dated about 6 years ago. Wally is fairly pessimistic, kinda neurotic, he has some hard edges as they describe later in the movie.

Kassie decides, to speed her life in the direction she wants it to go she needs a sperm donor. However she wants to be able to meet this sperm donor man face to face and she doesn’t want to go through a sperm bank due to the heavy cost. All the while Wally is trying to convince her otherwise, that this is a bad idea, don’t go down this road, and MAYBE it’s forcing him to confront his OWN confused feelings around Kassie?

The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 comedy drama directed by David Frankel based on the 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger.

This is the story of Andy played by Anne Hathaway. She is a freshly graduated journalist who stumbles upon a junior personal assistant job under Miranda Priestly played by Meryl Streep. Miranda Priestly is the Editor in Chief of Runway Magazine and that gig Andy stumbled upon is "a job that millions of girls would kill for…"

Andy is kinda… meh… about it… 

But Miranda Priestly is not one to be trifled with and Andy finds herself in an extremely challenging situation trying to impress her new boss as well as her co-workers Emily played by Emily Blunt and Nigel played by Stanley Tucci all while juggling her relationship with Nate played by Adrian Grenier and a suave New York Times freelancer Christian Thompson played by Simon Baker.

Denis Cooverman, played by Paul Rust is his school’s valedictorian. Denis is fairly nerdy, hasn’t had a whole lot of FUN throughout his highschool experience and doesn't have many stories to share. But during his Valedictorian speech Denis takes the opportunity to say what he has ALWAYS wanted to say…

I LOVE YOU BETH COOPER… 

Along with pissing off many key students and people at this school, Denis confesses his love to Beth Cooper, played by Hayden Panettiere.

This revelation in front of the school has a rippling impact that carries Denis on a wild adventure of a night he will never forget.

Meet the Fockers is a 2004 romantic comedy directed by Jay Roach, Jay also directed the original Meet the Parents, as well as Dinner for Schmucks, The Austin Powers series. Meet the Fockers is the sequel to Meet the Parents, we have Greg or ‘Gaylord’ Focker played by Ben Stiller. Greg is engaged to Pam Byrnes played by Teri Polo, the contents of the first film was Greg meeting Pam’s parents Jack Byrnes played by Robert De Niro and Dina played by Blythe Danner. The short of that story is that Jack is a retired CIA agent and did everything he could do disrupt, undermine and ultimately break up Greg and Pam before finally agreeing that Greg was indeed a good guy and a good match. In Meet the Fockers, this story in some ways repeats with Jack and Dina meeting Greg’s parents Bernie and Roz played by Dustin Hoffman and Barabara Streisand.

This is based on the Mean Girls stage musical, which is based on a 2003 movie WHICH is based on the 2002 book Queen Bees and Wannabes. Mean Girls the musical follows the story of Cady Herron played by Angourie Rice who movies from being homeschooled in Kenya to high school in the United States. Cady has to do a lot of catching up on high school and is quickly befriended by Janis and Damien played by Auli’i Cravalho and Jaquel Spivey. Cady also quickly becomes friends with the highschool Mean Girls, the plastics, Regina George played by Renee Rapp, Karen Shetty played by Avantika and Gretchen Wieners played by Bebe Wood.

This is the story of Charlie, a temp, dog walker, yoga instructor searching for love, she is played by Jennifer Lopez. On the beach in California she meets doctor Kevin Fields played by Michael Vartan, they immediately hit it off, love at first sight kind of stuff and eventually Kevin brings Charlie to meet his mother Viola played by Jane Fonda. Viola is a recently retired T.V show host who is perhaps slightly neurotic, very type A and can only accept the absolute best for her son Kevin… of which, she believes Charlie is not… however when Kevin immediately proposed to Charlie, it sets off a massive conflict between Charlie and Viola… that is your lead in for Monster In Law.

Horrible Bosses is a 2011 dark comedy directed by Seth Gordon. This is the story of 3 friends, Nick, Dale and Kurt, played by Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudekis. All 3 of these friends in some way have a boss they despise. Nick’s boss Dave played by Kevin Spacey is a gaslighting, manipulating, corporate overlord type. Kurt’s boss Bobby, played by Folin Farrell is a weaselly incompetent drug fueled jerk. Dale’s boss Julia, played by Jennifer Anniston is sexually aggressive towards him. They all end up scheming and coming up with a plan to kill… each other’s bosses, based on some advice from Jamie Foxx’s character Dean Jones.
