Leaving a place, and the people we love, always comes with a wave of emotions. In this episode, I share what it was like to say goodbye to my host family in the U.S., the sadness that came with it, and the patterns I noticed in myself as I navigated the days after.

I talk about:

  • The stories we tell ourselves when we leave someone or someplace we care about

  • How I allowed myself to feel the heaviness and what helped me get grounded again

  • The little shift that made me start appreciating my day without forcing it

  • A pattern I’ve seen in myself: clinging to sadness or even resenting the new place I’m in

  • An invitation for you to get curious about how you handle the first few days after a goodbye

If you’re in the middle of a transition, or holding the weight of a recent goodbye, this episode is a reminder that your emotions have wisdom to share, and that beauty is still around you, waiting to be noticed.

43. How Brazil Taught Me to Thrive in the Heat (And What Shifted Back Home)01 Jul 202500:33:30

In today’s episode, I get honest about something that might sound silly, how I’ve been spiraling because of the heat. But what started as frustration with the weather opened up a deeper reflection on mindset, values, and the way we choose to experience life.

I share the moment I realized that when I was in Brazil, where it was even hotter, I actually thrived. So what’s different now?

We dive into:

  • How your environment doesn’t define your experience, your mindset does

  • Why small spirals can point to bigger misalignments

  • The power of choosing to see every day as the best day of your life

  • A powerful question to reconnect with what you value, both abroad and back home

This episode is for you if you’ve felt off lately, if you’re comparing yourself to who you were abroad, or if you need a reminder that you’re one mindset shift away from seeing beauty again.

Journal prompts at the end to help you reflect on what really matters to you, and whether you’re living from a place of expansion or fear.

42. Cutting the Noise & Finding Alignment: You Already Have the Answers24 Jun 202500:26:05

In this episode, I dive into the topic of alignment, what it really means to live a life that feels right for you, and how to stop getting pulled in a thousand different directions by what everyone else is doing or saying.

I share personal stories from my time as an au pair and my travels in Southeast Asia, moments where I felt completely present, free from pressure, and not obsessed with what came next. But when I came back home? Suddenly, the noise returned: You need to get a degree. You need to figure it all out. You need to act like an adult. And with that noise came comparison, self-doubt, and the pressure to follow a path that wasn’t mine.

We talk about:

  • Why coming back home can feel overwhelming and noisy

  • The hidden pressure of being surrounded by family and societal expectations

  • How different generations shaped their choices, and why it's okay for us to question the old models

  • Why the problem isn’t always your country, the people, or the apps, and what taking radical responsibility really looks like

  • The importance of knowing yourself so deeply that you stop making up stories when others say something that triggers you

  • Why alignment doesn’t come from others’ advice, but from reconnecting with your own truth

At the end, I leave you with powerful reflection questions to help you check in with yourself, because the more you know who you are, the easier it becomes to make decisions that feel like you.

If you’ve ever felt torn between two worlds, unsure of your path, or like you’re falling behind... this episode is your reminder that you’re not. You’re evolving.

🎧 Tune in to reconnect with your inner compass and start living in alignment, on your terms.

41. “I’ve Been Back in My Country for 8 Months… I Have Everything to Be Happy on Paper, But Something Feels Off”17 Jun 202500:25:37

In today’s episode, I’m getting real about a feeling that many of us experience after returning home: that quiet, persistent “off” feeling, even when everything looks good on paper.

You’ve got the job, the apartment, maybe even the social life. But deep down, something feels... disconnected.

I’m here to tell you: that feeling is not a sign that you need to run away or start over again. It’s a signal to get curious. To listen more deeply. To get radically honest with yourself.

In this episode, I share:

  • Why this “off” feeling is actually an invitation to realign

  • My favorite ways to reconnect with myself when I’m in this space (walking without headphones, journaling, dancing, meditating...)

  • How I assess what’s misaligned by simply observing my thoughts for a week

  • A powerful practice of reconnecting with the version of me who already has the life I desire and letting her guide my decisions

  • A few real-life examples of what this has looked like for me

Whether you’ve been home for a few months or a few years, this episode is your reminder:
✨ You’re not behind. You’re evolving. And you can trust yourself through this transition.

40. Who Am I Now? Navigating Identity Crisis After Living Abroad10 Jun 202500:26:04

Have you ever asked yourself “Who am I now?” after coming back home from living abroad?

In this episode, I dive deep into the identity crisis many people face when they return home after months or years abroad. I explore the different layers of identity, who you were before you left, who you became during your time abroad, and who you’re becoming now that you’re back.

We talk about:

  • The roles and labels you carried before: in your family, at school, with friends

  • The beliefs you built around those roles

  • The new identities you embraced abroad, whether you were an au pair, exchange student, expat, or backpacker

  • What happens when those identities no longer apply back home

  • How to navigate the “in between” space of cultures and languages

  • Why it’s not about choosing either/or but accepting all parts of yourself

  • The shift from belonging to becoming, and why creating a vision for your life is key to moving forward

  • How we attach ourselves to identity labels like “introvert” or “extrovert” to feel safe and understood, and what happens when those no longer fit

If you’re feeling lost in the space between who you were and who you want to be, this episode will help you put words on what you’re experiencing, and start imagining what’s possible from here.

39. One Mindset Shift That Can Change How You Feel About Being Back03 Jun 202500:40:24

When we return to our home country after living abroad, it’s so easy to focus on what’s missing. What we don’t like. What we lost. We romanticize the place we left and feel stuck, like the best part of our life is already behind us.

In this episode, I invite you to shift your perspective. To look again.

What if it’s not about the country… but about how you’re seeing it?

I’ll share honest stories from my own journey and walk you through powerful mindset shifts that have helped me reconnect with life where I am, without pretending everything is perfect.

You’ll learn:

  • Why we often resist the present and how to soften that resistance

  • A daily practice to spot the good, even in small ways

  • How to regulate your nervous system to make space for clarity and inspiration

  • A guided invitation to imagine your ideal life, no matter where you are right now

This episode is a loving nudge to stop waiting for a different place or version of you to arrive. Your life isn’t over. It’s unfolding.

✨ Tune in to start seeing things differently, starting today.

38. Family, Triggers & Returning Home After Time Abroad27 May 202500:40:24

In this deeply honest episode, I open up about the messy, emotional, and often surprising reality of moving back in with family after time abroad.

Before coming home, the idea of living with my family stressed me out, especially knowing I'd be between my dad's place in the middle of nowhere and a complicated past with my mom. I share the truth about what it’s been like to live through that: the boredom, the loneliness, the triggers… but also the small, intentional steps I’ve taken to reconnect, heal, and try to rebuild something with my mom.

This episode is a mix of reflections and real-life stories, some of them uncomfortable, some of them tender. It’s for you if you’re trying to make peace with where you are, wondering what your family dynamics are teaching you, or feeling disconnected from your vision.

Because when life feels slow, stuck, or emotionally charged… there’s usually a deeper reason.

✨ Listen in if you’ve ever asked:

  • “Why does it feel so hard to be home?”

  • “Is it possible to change a relationship with a parent?”

  • “What am I supposed to do with this boredom or loneliness?”

Sometimes the most ordinary moments are where the healing starts. And sometimes, your discomfort is the very thing pointing you back to yourself.

37. Radical Honesty: A Check-In for Life After Moving Back Home20 May 202500:28:13

In this episode, we’re doing something most people avoid: getting radically honest with ourselves.

If you’ve returned to your home country, whether by choice or circumstance, it’s time for a check-in.

Where are you really at in your life right now? And where do you actually want to be?

I guide you through a compassionate but honest reflection:

  • Why did you come back? Was it for family, studies, something else?

  • Are you satisfied with how things are unfolding? If not, what small action could you take?

  • How have you actually been feeling since you returned?

This episode is all about realignment.

This is not about pressure. It’s about setting gentle intentions, celebrating your progress (instead of only seeing the gap), and building bridges, one small action at a time toward the life you truly want.

36. How to Make Friends Again After Returning Back to Your Home Country13 May 202500:34:56

In this episode, I dive deep into the complexities of making friends once you're back in your home country inspired by a Facebook post from a woman who found it difficult to reconnect socially after returning.

I explore the common experience of feeling like people back home aren’t as open to new connections, and how this isn't just about your country, it's about human nature, routine, and established circles.

But more importantly, I invite you to reflect: How did you show up when you were abroad? Were you curious, open, proactive? Are you showing up the same way now, or are you holding yourself back?

I share my personal journey of returning home and realizing that I was limiting myself based on old beliefs about "how people are" in my country. I talk about the power of clarity, knowing the kind of friendships, conversations, and experiences you want to cultivate, and how that clarity helps you attract your people faster.

Plus, I share some practical tools: apps, Facebook groups, and ideas to take the initiative and create your own community. Because the truth is, your people are out there, but you have to show up fully to find them.

If you're back home and feeling disconnected, this episode is for you.

35. The Kind of Loneliness No One Talks About06 May 202500:25:53

In this episode, I open up about a wave of loneliness that hit me hard last Saturday. It was one of those moments where everything felt heavy, and suddenly, all I could see was what I didn't have anymore. If you’ve been through a similar feeling, especially after returning home from life abroad, you’re not alone.

Instead of trying to fix or push the feeling away, I chose to sit with it. To spend time with it. And in doing so, I discovered something surprising: beneath the loneliness, what I was truly missing was fun and playfulness.

I share how loneliness has a way of lying to us, making the past seem better than it was, disconnecting us from our vision for the future, and making everything we do have feel invisible. But when we stop resisting and start listening, there’s something to learn.

This episode is your gentle reminder that your emotions aren’t your enemies, they’re messengers. And maybe, just maybe, your loneliness isn’t about what you’ve lost… but about what you’re being called to create.

🎧 Tune in if:

  • You’re feeling disconnected or misunderstood since coming home

  • Loneliness has been weighing heavy lately

  • You need a reminder that you’re not behind, just in a moment of pause

34. When Stability Delays Your Dreams29 Apr 202500:34:39

In this episode, I open up about a deeply personal chapter of my life, the time I spent in Canada, torn between what I thought I needed and what I truly wanted. I take you through my journey from Montreal to Winnipeg, where I stayed not out of love for the place, but from a place of scarcity, chasing permanent residency in hopes of creating stability before following my true dream of traveling through Latin America.

I share how anxiety built up as I postponed my desires, thinking I had to secure a base first. I reflect on why I didn’t want to return to my home country, especially after a difficult first return. This episode dives into the concept from "10x Is Easier Than 2x", about the trap of making decisions based on what you think you should do, rather than what truly aligns with your vision and values.

We explore the difference between freedom from and freedom to, and how crucial it is to ask:
🔹 Is this place expanding me or shrinking me?
🔹 Am I choosing this from alignment or fear?

Whether you're navigating a big move, considering a major life change, or feeling torn between comfort and growth, this episode is for you.

32. Don’t Rush to Be ‘Fine’, You’re Not Broken, You Don’t Need to Be Fixed15 Apr 202500:26:13

Last week was a triggering one for me, and instead of holding space for my emotions, I fell back into that old pattern of trying to fix myself. Sound familiar?

In this episode, I share a real and raw reflection on what it means to accept yourself, especially in those messy, uncomfortable moments we often try to push away. When we come back home after living abroad, it's easy to think we should feel fine or have it all figured out. But often, what surfaces is shame, emotional overwhelm, and the urge to suppress what we think we “shouldn’t” feel.

We talk about:

  • The trap of self-improvement as a form of self-rejection

  • Why we shame certain parts of ourselves instead of accepting them

  • How trying to “fix” your emotions only deepens the disconnection

  • The link between self-judgment and being triggered by others

  • Why your emotions aren’t who you are, and how to create space for them

  • The reminder that true change doesn’t come from pressure, but from love

This is your invitation to slow down, soften, and stop rushing to be okay. You’re not broken. You’re human. And every part of you deserves compassion, especially the ones you’ve been trying to hide.

31. Old Patterns, New You: What to Do When You’re Back Home Again08 Apr 202500:36:06

Have you ever felt like being back in your home country means you're right back where you started?

In this episode, I share a perspective shift that changed everything for me:

What if life brought you back not to punish you or undo everything you’ve become, but to offer you a chance to redo the past, with the person you are now?

You're not who you used to be.
You get to respond differently.
You get to choose yourself this time.

I also dive into the power of the stories we tell ourselves and how those stories can keep us stuck. Especially when we're blaming our country, our environment, or the people around us. There’s often a secret benefit hidden in the complaints, and once we uncover it, we can finally shift.

At the end, I leave you with a powerful tool to start taking action from your future self instead of your past self.

It’s time to reclaim your power, even if you're back where you started.

30. Who Told You to Stop Living Just Because You Are Back To Your Home Country01 Apr 202500:41:12

Many people returning home after living abroad get stuck in survival mode. They think the "rules" have changed, that back home, life is about numbing emotions, avoiding discomfort, and playing it safe. But the game of life is still the same. The goal isn’t just to avoid losing. It’s to play to win.

In this episode, I dive into:

🔹 How abroad, you allowed yourself to feel and experience life fully—but back home, you're told to suppress your emotions.
🔹 The difference between playing to win vs. playing not to lose (and how to shift your mindset).
🔹 Why it’s your responsibility to create a life you enjoy, but NOT your responsibility to make others feel better about theirs.
🔹 The importance of being mindful of whose advice you take, if someone’s life doesn’t inspire you, why listen to them?

If you’ve been feeling stuck, uninspired, or like you don’t fit in since coming back home, this episode is for you. It’s time to rewrite the rules and start playing the game of life on your own terms.

50. When your time abroad feels like it was just a dream19 Aug 202500:29:43

It’s hard to believe this is the 50th episode of the podcast, almost one year since I started!

In this special episode, I’m diving into a topic that so many returnees feel but rarely put words to: why it can feel like our time abroad was just a dream once we’re back home.

I explore two key themes: grief and integration.

  • I share my very first day back home after two years abroad, what I felt, how I coped, and why it was so overwhelming.

  • To draw a parallel, I open up about the grief I felt when I lost my ex, and the similarities between grieving a person and grieving a life chapter.

  • I talk about the importance of acknowledging what you’re grieving, your life abroad, the version of yourself you used to be, and why clinging to the past is a natural reaction.

Then, I shift to integration, the process of weaving your time abroad into your life now. I explore:

  • The fact that most people’s baseline state is “fine.” Okay. Nothing bad, but not really alive either. What if instead, you made aliveness your baseline

  • Why feeling all your emotions (not bypassing the hard ones) is the gateway to joy, excitement, and presence.

  • A simple tip to start integrating aliveness into your daily life.

This episode is for you if you’ve ever looked back on your time abroad and wondered if it was real, if you’ve struggled to find meaning back home, or if you want to carry that sense of aliveness with you into this next chapter.

23. Why Your Return Matters More Than the Country You Left Behind11 Feb 202500:42:45

In this episode, I dive deep into the transformative power of transitions and how they are opportunities for growth and self-discovery. If you’ve ever felt lost or uncertain when returning to your home country after time abroad, this episode is for you. I share my own experience of how I could have handled my return differently, and how transitions, just like breakups are there to give us important information and guidance.

I break down why how we handle our return makes all the difference in our ability to adapt, thrive, and find a new sense of purpose at home. Listen in as I explore how embracing these transitions with the right mindset can lead to more clarity and direction.

So, if you’ve been struggling to re-align with your life back home or feel like you’re stuck between two worlds, tune in! The insights shared in this episode will give you the confidence and perspective you need to move forward in a way that’s truly aligned with your growth.

19. You Are Made For More: Creating Your Own Path14 Jan 202500:36:27

In today’s episode, I dive into the powerful realization that you are made for more. I share a personal story about the first time I lived abroad and how it was an awakening moment. Living outside my home country opened my eyes to a world of possibilities—what once felt like a black-and-white life in my home country suddenly turned into a vibrant, colorful experience abroad.

However, going back home was difficult because I craved that color, that sense of freedom and possibility. I mistakenly thought I needed to go elsewhere to find it again, but the truth is—I am the color. You are the color.

I explain that when I say "you are made for more," I mean you are here to create your own path and reality. The challenge isn't about being back in your home country; it's about finding what truly matters to you, embracing it, and being brave enough to explore new things that will help you craft your unique journey.

Tune in to hear how you can break free from the black-and-white thinking and begin living a more colorful and fulfilling life, no matter where you are. You don’t need to go somewhere else to find what you’re looking for—you already have everything you need to create your own path.

49. Who Do You Need to Become? Rethinking Life After Your Time Abroad.13 Aug 202500:33:39

If you’ve been telling yourself, “I don’t know what I want for my life,” or you feel lost about what to do after your time abroad, this episode is for you.

We’ve been taught to ask the wrong questions, society often frames it all around career: What job will you do? Which degree will you choose? But if you don’t have that answer, it doesn’t mean you’re lost.

In this conversation, I share my own story from when I first returned home. I had a plan, but I still felt unsure and kept looking at what others had done to find inspiration. What I really needed to do was pause and ask:

  • What do I already know about myself and my desires?

  • Who is the version of me that lives the life I want?

  • How does she think, act, and make decisions?

We’ll explore how to shift from chasing job titles or certifications to becoming a match for your ideal vision of life, whether that’s more travel, more connection, or a deeper sense of purpose.

You’ll also hear practical examples (including from relationships) and why the better question isn’t “What did you do after your time abroad?” but “What was your process to figure it out?”

By the end, you’ll walk away with a new approach to designing your life after living abroad:

  1. Get clear on what you already know about yourself.

  2. Imagine your ideal life and the version of you who’s living it.

  3. Learn from people who are thriving, not just what they did, but how they became who they are.

It’s time to stop asking “What should I do?” and start asking “Who do I need to become?”

48. If You Miss Who You Were Abroad… Listen to This First.05 Aug 202500:38:21

We need to have a different conversation.

In this episode, I share why I'm done with the typical advice people give when you've come back from living abroad: keep yourself busy, plan your next trip, stay positive. These tips may come from good intentions, but they miss the heart of the experience.

I dive into a Facebook post from someone who’s been home for 10 months. She’s happy to see her family, she has a job… but she doesn’t like who she’s becoming. And I share what the comments said and why, despite being well-meaning, they fall short.

This episode is about what no one teaches us:
➡️ How to validate what we feel
➡️ How to ask ourselves what we actually need
➡️ How to not try to fix the feeling, but to feel it

I tell my own story, what it felt like when I returned the first time, how even people who cared about me gave me quick solutions instead of just sitting with my emotions. I share what I learned from crisis response training: that healing doesn’t come from being fixed, it comes from being heard.

We also explore:

  • The grief no one talks about when you return home

  • Why “I don’t like who I’m becoming” is a sign you’re shaming yourself

  • What really changed when you were abroad (it’s not just the country, it was your mindset)

  • Why trying to “go back” to who you were abroad doesn’t work, and what to do instead

This isn’t about recreating the past. It’s about evolving.
It’s about using what you lived abroad as a map, not a destination.

47. The Surprising Way Your Return Shapes Every Area of Your Life29 Jul 202500:42:56

This episode is for the ones who came back home after living abroad, and now feel stuck, confused, disconnected… or like something magical got left behind.

But what if you’re not stuck?
What if you're just repeating a story you unconsciously decided a long time ago?

In this raw and honest episode, I’m inviting you to zoom out and realize:
You get to decide how your return feels.
How it looks. How it moves. How it evolves.

I share how I unknowingly created limiting stories when I returned to my country, like “home means responsibilities,” “I have to go back to school,” or “my family only gets me when I’m far away.” These stories shaped how I showed up… until I chose to change them.

Here’s the breakthrough:
💡 The story you’re telling yourself is what’s keeping you stuck.

From dating apps to family relationships, I show how the same patterns play out in different areas of life, and how rewriting the story changes everything.

You’ll learn:

  • Why “home” doesn’t have to mean “the end of freedom”

  • How putting “abroad” on a pedestal keeps you disconnected from the magic you already have

  • What really happens when you stop shaming parts of yourself to fit in

  • How to shift from “I don’t belong” to “I get to belong on my terms”

  • The ripple effect of healing your relationship with your country, and how it transforms your relationships with love, money, family, career…

I’ll also walk you through the powerful truth that how you handle your return is how you handle every transition in life.

This episode will challenge you. Empower you. And remind you:
✨ You are the magic. Not the place.
