Retro Re-View is back, looking at the USWA for March 27, 1993! Featuring not one, but TWO big title matches on today's episode! "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is coming to Memphis to defend the WWF Intercontinental title against Jeff Jarrett, we hear from HBK as he shares his thoughts about coming to the "rinky dink organization" in Memphis.  We also hear from The Big Boss Man who says he's coming back to town to team with Jerry Lawler to try once again to dish out some "hard times" to the Harlem Knights!  The opening match on TV sees Jeff Jarrett defend the Southern Heavyweight title against Scotty Flamingo!  Also, The Moondogs, The Harlem Knights, and PG-13 see ring action.  Plus: Jerry "the King" Lawler defends the Unified World Title against Brian Christopher! Fresh off winning the USWA Tag Team titles last Monday night, Brian Christopher & Scotty Flamingo have the opportunity to leave the TV-5 Studio with "all the belts!".

The duo will try and take down the Harlem Knights (future Men on a Mission)! Brian Christopher has a brand new tag team partner in SCOTTY FLAMINGO, and this week they are taking on Jeff Jarrett and "Nightmare" Danny Davis in main event tag team action live in the TV-5 studio! PLUS: "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert sees red after feeling slighted by the promotion and being attacked by Bert Prentice and the Rock & Roll Phantom…..he's throwing HEAT in the ring AND on the microphone this week as the "stepchild of the USWA" has had enough! As we finish out January 1993 in the USWA, Gene Jackson welcomes special guest co-host Brian Tramel of STSPod.club! Fresh off a showdown at the WWF Royal Rumble the week before, "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig (from the WWF!) is coming to town to challenge 'The King' for the USWA Unified World Title on Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum! Ron & Don Harris, The Bruise Brothers are here after winning the USWA Tag Team Titles in the tournament last Monday night after defeating Jeff Jarrett & Jerry Lawler! Since Moondog Spike has gone down to injury, Richard Lee has found a "new" Moondog who happens to be the biggest Moondog that Memphis has ever seen! Check out the show to find out what happened when the Dogs and the Bruise Brothers came face to face in the TV-5 studio! Jeff Jarrett has been challenged by a masked man known only as the "Rock & Roll Phantom", but who is it? Could it be the "Greatest IC Champ of All Time"??  Plus, Bert Prentice crosses the line in his feud with Miss Texas, which leads to a "back alley street fight"! USWA Southern Champion Brian Christopher prepares for his title defense against "Dirty" Dutch Mantel on Monday night by taking on "Nightmare" Danny Davis in an excellent television main event!

On this week's episode of the Retro Wrestling Re-View, we cover Week 4 of 1993 in the USWA! Eddie Marlin strips the Moondogs of the USWA Tag Team Titles after Moondog Spike gets injured!  That means today's episode of TV (1/23/93) will be the First Round of an 8-Team Tournament to crown NEW USWA Tag Team Champions! Which means, the Semi-Finals and Finals take place on Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum!  The eight teams will consist of: The Bruise Brothers, Jerry Lawler/Jeff Jarrett, Brian Christopher/Mike Miller, Moondog Spot/"Nightmare" Danny Davis, Jeff Gaylord/Reggie B. Fine, Doug & Eddie Gilbert, The Masters of Terror, and Tony Denucci/Scott Campione! Also, The Honky Tonk Man is LIVE in the studio, plus we hear from Sapphire & Miss Texas!

The Retro Wrestling Re-View podcast returns with Episode #3 as an under the weather Gene Jackson is back and powers through another excellent episode with Guests Josh Briley and Richard Mullikin (of P3 Radio) to once again travel back to January 1993 for some USWA Wrestling! On the 2nd episode of the Retro Wrestling Re-View Podcast, Gene Jackson welcomes back co-hosts Richard Mullikan & Josh Briley (of P3 Radio) to revisit the second week of 1993 in the USWA! This week Corey Maclin is back! Brian Christopher (with the newly bald Mr Clyde and previously bald Zeke Rivers) takes on Tony Denucci in the opener, and it seems as though he's out of options and will have to put HIS hair on the line to earn yet another shot at Jeff Jarrett's Southern Title! Lauren Davenport is on the hunt for someone to manage and attempts to recruit no less than FOUR wrestlers on this episode with very little success. The King isn't happy with how last Monday's match with Mike Miller went so this week he has a SPECIAL REFEREE in mind!  USWA Tag Team Champions The Bruise Brothers (Ron/Don Harris) commit another brutal tag team assault on a pair of unsuspecting enhancement talent and the Moondogs' manager Richard Lee makes a "fatal mistake" insisting that his Moondogs hit the gym instead of coming to TV. All this and more on another wild and wooly day in the TV-5 studios!

It's Episode #13 of the Retro Wrestling Review as Gene, Josh, and Richard review the March 13, 1993 episode of USWA Championship Wrestling! After a brief tease on the last television, The Harlem Knights are here in full force this week along with Brian Christopher and NOTHING is safe…especially the ring ropes!

It's the in-ring television debut of Bobby and Nelson Knight (the future Mo & Mabel) and they are already being challenged by Jerry 'the King' Lawler, Jeff Jarrett, and "Nightmare" Danny Davis to a main event match at the Mid-South Coliseum!

We actually get FIVE television matches this week which is a bit of a departure from recent episodes.  PG-13 are in action this week fresh off JC Ice losing the USWA Middleweight Championship to Danny Davis.  Brian Christopher and the Big Black Dog managed to win the USWA Tag Team titles last week and now they have some demands before the Moondogs get a rematch!  Last week we thought Mike Samples had departed the promotion with the Harris Twins but it turns out he left for Russia by special request of the President of the United States. You'll need to see this promo to believe it, as he introduces us to….The Russian Brute!  A fun episode across the board, we hope you'll check it out!

The Retro Wrestling Re-View returns to the USWA in March of 1993 this week, as Josh Briley & Richard Mullikin are back along with host Gene Jackson to discuss the March 6th episode as the flippin' “Macho Man” Randy Savage is here… in the TV-5 Memphis studio for the first time since 1985! And Macho is here to call out the "King" Jerry Lawler, and challenge him for his Unified World Championship in a very fun exchange between two LEGENDS! 

The NEW Southern Heavyweight Champ Jeff Jarrett takes on Reggie B. Fine. Then, Scotty Flamingo makes his USWA debut as he's coming in "from the WCW" to challenge Jarrett for the Southern belt due to their "open door policy".  Scotty hits Jarrett with a rap that would make PN News roll over in his grave.. if he wasn't still alive!  Add to all of that a bizarre "patriotic" video of Jeff Jarrett that the guys have a LOT of fun with. 

If all of that wasn't a big enough surprise for one episode….PG-13 is here as JC Ice has won the USWA Middleweight Championship! Hear all about that and find out why "Uncle Danny" ain't happy.  "The King of Rock & Roll" Doug Gilbert is in action against "Dirty" Dutch Mantel, and we find out that his brother Eddie has challenged him to a 'Loser Leaves Town' match at the Mid-South Coliseum.  PLUS: Brian Christopher will tell you everything you need to know about his new tag team partner….the BIG BLACK DOG! This week we have a very special episode of the Retro Wrestling Re-View as Gene Jackson is joined by TWO special guests!  The first guest is the former managing editor of Pro Wrestling Illustrated and is currently the host of the popular podcast, The Outdated Wrestling Hour, of course we're talking about Bob Smith!  Gene and Bob talk about a variety of retro pro wrestling related topics, most notably when Bob traveled down to Memphis and appeared on the July 13, 1991 episode of USWA Championship Wrestling in a memorable segment involving Jerry 'the King' Lawler and Leatherface! Bob got a chance to go behind the scenes and spend a few days on the road with the USWA attending three shows and he has some fun stories from his Tennessee excursion!  Then from there, we get back to our current podcast topic of USWA in 1993 when Gene is joined by "Dangerous" Doug Gilbert to discuss his 1993 feud with his brother "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert, they talk about how and why it came about and what it meant to Doug to get a chance to work an angle on Memphis TV with his brother.  They also talk a bit about Doug's upcoming weekly podcast, "Dangerous Conversations with Doug Gilbert" debuting soon here at Wrestlecopia.com!
