Can you believe in God without switching off your brain? A heart rhythm doctor asks the oldest question there is: why is there anything at all, and does the answer point to God?
I'm Kashif Chaudhry. I'm a cardiac electrophysiologist, and I'm Muslim. My job is to follow an electrical signal back to its source. In this first episode of The Rational Believer I try to do the same with the universe. I start with Abraham under the night sky, refusing to worship anything that sets. Then I look at what science tells us about a universe with a history, and follow the argument from contingency as far as reason can take it. I take on the hardest objections, including "Who created God?" and "Why not just say the universe is the brute fact?", and say plainly where the argument stops. It doesn't get us to religion. Not yet.
This series doesn't assume Islam is true and argue backward. The conclusions have to earn their place.

The Rational Believer is for anyone who wonders whether an intellectually serious person can still believe in God: skeptics, seekers, and believers with questions. Islam is the lens, not the assumed conclusion.
You should not have to choose between your intellect and your soul.
