Some people should not be therapists...15 Aug 202500:16:28

Wow, I ranted A LOT this episode- apologies! I wanted to share the book I read: Love's Executioner & Other Tales of Psychotherapy. It brought up a great conversation of therapists holding biases (which everyone does!), as well as signs I knew I personally shouldn't be a therapist after completing my degree in Psychology (Counseling). Let me know what you think of this episode. If you have read this book, I would love to hear your thoughts.

Phone Addictions & Doom Scrolling 23 Jul 202500:27:48

I have been thinking about doing this episode for quite a while and been put off several times, because let's face it- admitting you feel out of control with the phone addiction isn't ideal. I think we need to understand the effects of social media and doom scrolling, and this episode will give you a brief insight into just a few of them.

Exam Prep Like a Psychologist: Your 7 Day Study Guide02 May 202500:28:51

I couldn 't upload the pdf so I have inserted the text from the document below- you can paste this into your notes app or a document to edit and personalise:)

Make sure to follow my TikTok if you want more psychology content! TikTok= @psychology_perspective

Your 7 day mental fitness plan before exams

Day 1- figure out your weak areas

  • Get the curriculum up
  • Make a list of your weak areas/topics you struggle with the most
  • Time block the next two days- you should allow an hour for each topic

Day 2- get right into it

  • QUICKLY look over content- notes/textbook
  • Go to quizlet and see if there are any pre-made flashcards which are based on your topic (any active recall is good here)
  • Finish each hour session with the blurting method

Day 3- get into it part 2

  • start day with a retrieval from day 2 (blurting method)
  • Continue with the same tasks from day 2 but with the second 1/2 of your topics.

Day 4 - creative day

  • have fun and create a podcast/tiktoks/powerpoint on topics you struggle with
  • Highlight areas you forget the most

Day 5- past paper qs day

  • have a go at answering past paper questions in timed conditions
  • You can mark these using the marking schemes

Day 6- the crunch day

  • go over EVERYTHING you want to cover before exam (if you can)
  • Ensure the majority of the day is retrieval based (e.g. MCQs, past paper qs, mind maps, flashcards)

Day 7- chilled revision day

  • have a look over content you made on day 4
  • Listen to relevant YouTube videos
  • Go over lectures
  • REST!
