Building/Buying sound absorption panels is all well and good (as well as important) but what about the damage caused by hanging them? Screws in the wall, adhesive that tears the plaster when you pull it down, and the hassle of having to paint walls and fill holes when you move. 

Robbo is a renter and recently had to move, leaving him considering how he could avoid a couple of days of handyman work to bring the studio walls back to their original condition, and adding a new coat of paint. A few weeks ago we did a review of the Rode NT-USB+, a very impressive USB mic from Rode. During the conversation, the guys wondered how it might hold up to the processing required to get a voice track to "cut" in a broadcast mix, and then the inevitable "on-air processing" at the transmitter.

Last year we had WAVES guru Michael "Gomez" Adams on the show to talk about their new noise reduction plugin called "Clarity". Whilst it's true you can't use source connect on your 4 or 5G device, it seems you CAN still use a hotspot to use the same networks for your source connect session.

The Auralex website says that the MAX-Wall™ "is a portable, acoustic treatment system with excellent broadband absorption, and a fairly high degree of isolation, by virtue of the thickness and density of the panels.  Its NRC rating is 1.05, it comes in three primary colours, and is available in a variety of sizes.  The patented, modular, interlocking design, allows for adjustable panel height and a gap-free enclosure that offers seemingly endless configuration possibilities. Each panel is 48" wide and 20″ tall, with a thickness of 4″.

A microphone shock mount isolates a microphone from mechanically transmitted noise. The system is very simple: a shock mount (usually an elastic suspension device) absorbs the shock of physical movement of the microphone stand or movement caused by sound waves. 

When Robert discovered one that seemed to be a "hard" mount, we were intrigued, and a deep dive into shock mounts followed...
