Our guest speaker Dr. Liane Johnson is a pediatric otolaryngologist at the IWK Health Center in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She completed a Bachelor of Science at Western University followed by her Medical Degree at McGill University, then completing Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery residency at Dalhousie University, followed by an accredited fellowship in pediatric airway surgery at the Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center.

Rhinology is a subspecialty within otolaryngology - head and neck surgery. In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Christopher Chin, an assistant professor at Dalhousie University who completed a Rhinology, Skull Base, and Head & Neck Oncology fellowship at the University of Toronto. Otitis media can refer to a few different pathologies, and so it is important to specify what type you are referring to. In general, there are two types that are commonly seen: these are acute otitis media (AOM) and chronic otitis media with effusion (also known as serous otitis media) . This episode focuses causes, presentation, history/physical exam, and treatment of acute otitis media.
