| BLOOD TEST REVEALS 31 NUTRIENT LEVELS | 13 Jun 2025 | 00:48:17 | |
Join Dr. Krystosik and his guest Dr. Jonathan Stein from Spectracell Lab as they discuss the micronutrient analysis blood test. This state of the art blood test reveals 31 nutrients essential for health and wellness. A recent study at the University of Texas found that 38% of people are deficient in one or more nutrients essential for the prevention and the restoration of health. Interestingly, 43% of people in this same study who were ingesting a multivitamin supplement were deficient in one or more micronutrients. Only 19% of people in this study had adequate levels of the daily requirements for the 31 nutrients tested in this study. That means that a whopping 80% of people in this study had inadequate levels of the 31 micronutrients tested. Unlike traditional serum tests that measure nutrient levels in the blood, the SpectraCell test analyzes micronutrients within your white blood cells. Serum testing gives a snapshot of the nutrient status at the time of the blood draw. The Spectracell test provides a longer-term view of your nutritional status (reflecting the past 4-6 months) and assesses how well your body utilizes these nutrients at a cellular level. The test evaluates the functional performance of 31 vitamins, minerals, amino/fatty acids, antioxidants, and metabolites. This helps identify functional deficiencies that may not be apparent from simple serum level measurements. The Spectracell test results can reveal hidden deficiencies or imbalances that may be contributing to various health issues. This information can be used to develop personalized nutrition plans, including dietary adjustments and targeted supplementation, to address specific needs.

Orthomolecular medicine is a science-based approach to health that emphasizes the use of optimal levels of vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients to prevent and treat disease. The term "orthomolecular" was coined by two-time Nobel laureate Dr. Linus Pauling, who defined it as "the right molecules in the right amounts" to maintain health. This approach operates on the principle that many chronic diseases stem from nutritional deficiencies, imbalances, or genetic predispositions that can be corrected or mitigated by adjusting dietary intake and supplementation. Unlike conventional medicine, which often focuses on treating symptoms with pharmaceuticals, orthomolecular medicine seeks to restore biochemical balance at the cellular level. Key nutrients used in orthomolecular therapy include high doses of vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, essential fatty acids, amino acids, and minerals like magnesium and zinc. These nutrients support immune function, detoxification, neurotransmitter production, and cellular repair, which can be beneficial for conditions such as cardiovascular disease, mental health disorders, autoimmune diseases, and metabolic disorders. Critics argue that some high-dose nutrient therapies lack sufficient clinical trials, but a growing body of research supports the role of nutrition in disease prevention and management. Orthomolecular medicine aligns with functional medicine principles, emphasizing individualized treatment, lifestyle modifications, and evidence-based nutritional strategies for long-term health.

Join Dr. Krystosik and his guest Dr. Joel Kahn M.D., as they debunk the low carb diet with scientific evidence. The belief that low-carb diets are universally healthy is misleading. Research shows that drastically reducing carbohydrates can lead to nutrient deficiencies, increased risk of heart disease, and other chronic conditions. Carbohydrates are essential for energy and overall health, and eliminating them can disrupt the body's balance. Long-term adherence to low-carb diets has been linked to higher mortality rates, making it crucial to approach such diets with caution and awareness of potential risks.

| How the Vegas Nerve Affects the Gut_ & Immunity | 03 May 2024 | 00:57:57 | |
Join Dr. Krystosik and his special guest, Dr. Michael Husmillo on The Other Side of Medicine podcast tonight at 8:00 p.m. as they explore the important role of the vagus nerve in health and disease. Learn about the gut and brain connection, and how to improve well-being by stimulating the vagus nerve with optimal nutrition, detoxification, brain exercises and much more. Discover The Other Side of Medicine. The vagus nerve, also known as the tenth cranial nerve, plays a crucial role in regulating various bodily functions, including those of the gut and immune system. Here's how it affects these systems: 1. Gut Function: The vagus nerve is a major player in the gut-brain axis, which is the bidirectional communication system between the gut and the brain. It regulates many aspects of gut function, including: • Digestion: The vagus nerve helps regulate the release of stomach acid and digestive enzymes, as well as the movement of food through the digestive tract. • Motility: It controls the contraction and relaxation of the muscles in the digestive tract, aiding in the movement of food through the esophagus, stomach, and intestines. • Satiation: The vagus nerve signals the brain when the stomach is full, helping to regulate appetite and prevent overeating. • Gut-Brain Communication: The vagus nerve transmits information about the state of the gut to the brain, influencing mood, stress responses, and overall well-being. 2. Immune System: The vagus nerve also plays a role in regulating the immune system, primarily through its connection to the spleen and other organs involved in immune function. Key points include: • Inflammation Regulation: The vagus nerve can help modulate inflammation by sending signals that dampen the immune response. This is known as the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway. • Spleen Function: The vagus nerve communicates with the spleen, regulating the release of immune cells and cytokines, which are involved in the body's response to infection and inflammation. • Microbiota Regulation: Emerging research suggests that the vagus nerve may play a role in maintaining the balance of gut microbiota, which in turn affects immune function and overall health. 3. Stress Response: The vagus nerve is involved in the body's response to stress. It helps regulate the release of stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline, which can have downstream effects on both gut function and immune responses. 4. Autonomic Nervous System: The vagus nerve is part of the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the body's "rest and digest" response. By activating the parasympathetic nervous system, the vagus nerve promotes relaxation and digestion, which can have positive effects on gut health and immune function. Overall, the vagus nerve is a key mediator of communication between the brain, gut, and immune system, helping to maintain homeostasis and overall health. Dysfunction or dysregulation of the vagus nerve can contribute to digestive disorders, immune dysfunction, and other health issues. Discover how to stimulate, nourish and protect the vegus nervous system with safe natural medicine.
| THE CURRENT ALLERGY EPIDEMIC, AND THE DRUG-FREE CURE! | 26 Apr 2024 | 00:59:51 | |
The recent allergy epidemic is caused by a combination of factors, including genetics, environmental changes, dietary habits, and lifestyle. Here are some key factors contributing to the increase in allergies: 1. Genetics: People with a family history of allergies are more likely to develop allergies themselves if they don't follow the suggestions in this podcast. 2. Environmental factors: Changes in the environment, such as pollution in the air, water and food supply, urbanization and a lack of informed choices can impact the prevalence and severity of allergies. 3. Hygiene hypothesis: This theory suggests that decreased exposure to germs and microbes in early childhood may lead to an overactive immune system, increasing the risk of developing allergies. 4. Dietary changes: Western diets high in processed foods contribute to inflammation and weaken the immune system, making individuals more susceptible to allergies. Additionally, changes in agricultural practices have increased the allergenic potential of foods. 5. Changes in microbiota: Disruptions in the gut bacteria increase the risk of developing allergies. 6. Lifestyle factor: Factors that weaken the immune system increase susceptibility to allergies.
