Night’s End Spotlight: The Ghost Light Theater11 Oct 202200:40:27
The Ghost Light Theater - Casting The Runes Hi everyone, James Barnett here, creator and producer of the Night’s End podcast. We really hope you are enjoying Season 3. But before we continue this journey with Jimmy, we want to introduce you to another fantastic podcast. The Ghost Light Theater is a podcast created and produced by Alvan Bolling II. Alvan is a regular contributor to Night’s End, and we are so very happy to call him friend. More recently, he can be heard on season 3 episode 13 – Aetheric IPA. Head to the link in the description of this episode to hear more of The Ghost Light Theater It is a Horror Anthology podcast hosted by “The Ethereal Actor” Lucious W. Griot, a charming fellow who showcases ghost stories, poems, and plays, to set your imagination alight.    For all pertinent links, head to https://allmylinks.com/theghostlighttheaterpod    For you today, we have The Ghost Light Theater’s re-enactment of Casting The Runes, an adaption of the M.R. James story of the same name, originally adapted by Escape from CBS.    So, sit back and relax, as Lucious, in a cast of one, brings this classic back to life.    Stay Horrific, Everyone.   {Welcome Back to our humble, dimly-lit Theater of the Mind that we lovingly refer to as: The Ghost Light Theater. It's been almost a month since our debut and Lucious & the whole team have been hard at work to bring you something truly special. An art form which has, sadly, fallen by the wayside is that of the "Old Time Radio (OTR) Drama". Some of the greatest stories ever written have either been adapted or written expressly to be showcased on Classic OTR Shows and performed by numerous talented actors. Unfortunately, our host & resident "Ethereal Actor" never got the opportunity to be cast in an OTR play in life, BUT he's making the most out of his Afterlife, and has decided to perform an entire play, which is a favorite amongst the entire team, from one of the most popular OTR Programs, Escape, and their adaptation of M.R. James' story, "Casting The Runes".  (Story starts @ 4:03)    Email: ghostlightpod@gmail.com    Instagram: @TheGhostLightTheaterPod    *Headphones are encouraged, but headphone users also Beware...    (Songs, in order of use) -GLT Theme Song: "BLACK FLY" by Audionautix | http://audionautix.com | Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com | Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported |  https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en_US  - "Night on Bald Mountain" by Modest Mussorgsky  -"Asking Questions" by Rafael Krux  -"Horror Mystery" by Rafael Krux  -"Satin Danger" by Kevin MacLeod  -"Alien Invasion" by Rafael Krux  *Podcast Produced & Edited By: Alvan Bolling II  *Voice Acting By: Alvan Bolling II}

The Xomog Effect15 Jul 202201:00:45

Hello everyone, James Barnett here, the creator and producer of the Night’s End podcast. Just a couple of things before we start this mammoth episode.

We are now open for Halloween submissions on the Night’s End website, www.nightsendpodcast.com. We won’t be accepting as many as last year so the competition will be stiff. So, if you currently have or intend on writing a Halloween tale that you would like to hear in an audio format, send them on through before the closing date of  the 29th of August. We look forward to reading your submissions.

Now, we have a top-secret project that we are working on that will be dubbed “secret project”, yeah, imaginative, I know. If you are a writer that is a fan of Gothic Horror and classic ghost stories, your favourite writers are M.R. James, Shirley Jackson & Henry James, amongst many more, and you write stories in this style, then we want you! Head on over to www.nightsendpodcast.com to submit to the “secret project”.

Lastly, before we begin, a content warning for the upcoming story, The Xomog Effect. This story contains content that may be unsuitable to some listeners. Such as self-harm, PTSD, physical assault, murder, and mental illness. If you are affected by any of this content, we suggest you listen only until the end of the pre-story with Jimmy Horrors and then wait until next week.

Thanks for listening, and stay horrific, everyone.

Bottle Green Dreams was written by Rick Kennett who is an Australian writer of science fiction, horror, and ghost stories with several published books and many stories in a wide variety of magazines, anthologies, and podcasts. The novella The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea and the novella In Quinn's Paddock feature his reoccurring character Ernie Pine, the “reluctant ghost-hunter." Another reoccurring character is genetically engineered Martian space girl Cy De Gerch, who appears in the novel Presumed Dead and the collection Thirty Minutes for New Hell. Some of Kennett's work is science fiction, but some of his science fiction stories feature ghosts, thus his work crosses genre boundaries that are often kept separate.
