The "Walking, Talking Donkey" episode w/ Jazz Adair
Saison 5 · Épisode 4
lundi 28 juillet 2025 • Durée 01:10:29
The journey from discovering Eddie Murphy is different for every generation. For some, it was his raw stand-up comedy that broke barriers in the 80s. For others, it was his smooth-talking charm in films like Trading Places and Coming to America. But for millions of younger fans, Eddie Murphy is forever Donkey from Shrek - bringing his signature energy to an animated character that transcended the medium.
This episode dives deep into how Eddie Murphy's incredible versatility allowed him to connect with audiences across decades. Our guest Jasmine Adair shares her first experiences with Murphy's work and how she saw herself represented in his storytelling. We explore the cultural significance of movies like Boomerang - a revolutionary romantic comedy featuring an all-Black cast and workplace - something nearly unheard of in early 90s Hollywood. The conversation unpacks how Murphy faced criticism for transitioning to family-friendly films yet maintained his authentic voice throughout his evolution.
Perhaps most fascinating is our examination of how Murphy brought elements of Black cultural expression to mainstream animation through Donkey, ensuring that even in a fantasy world of ogres and dragons, Black voices and humor were represented. We discuss the unfair double standard applied to Black performers changing their style compared to their white counterparts - Bill Murray and Steve Martin can evolve without criticism, while Murphy's shifts were often questioned.
Whether you're a lifelong fan or discovering Murphy's brilliance for the first time, this conversation celebrates an entertainer who broke barriers, created opportunities for other Black performers, and built bridges between generations through the power of comedy. Join us for this joyful exploration of a true entertainment icon.

The Aftershow 1 (Coming To The Stage)
Saison 3 · Épisode 14
lundi 23 janvier 2023 • Durée 26:19
This is a bonus episode. Last week, we spoke about a show called BET's "Coming To The Stage". It was the start of my career and my guests (Steve Turner & John Rickenbacker Jr). John & Myself were part of a group called "DV Entertainment". It didn't feel right for us to have a "Coming To The Stage" episode and not invite the 3rd Member of "DV Entertainment". So I asked my friend, Adrian Mercerdi, to be on The Aftershow. He gave us his perspective on the forementioned show; We share stories that we did not tell on the previous episode & he gives me his top 5 Eddie Murphy Movies

The "Coming To The Stage" Episode w/ @Comediansteveturner
Saison 3 · Épisode 13
lundi 16 janvier 2023 • Durée 43:29
This week, We have Comedian Steve Turner who is a very good friend of @Fudgedacomedian and Myself. He stopped by to promote his new comedy special "OFFEND EVERYBODY". We were about to talk about one of Eddie's big movies but we got sidetracked. We started reminiscing about a TV show that we all did together called "Coming To The Stage". A show that we all bombed on. This episode is hilarious. You get to hear the ins and outs about how it all went down. Steve's joke delivery and storytelling had us in stitches. Even though isn't episode isn't all about Eddie, we still managed to keep Will Smith's Wife's name out of our Muth@F#ckin mouth

The "Was Whoopi Goldberg The Female Eddie Murphy?" Episode
Saison 3 · Épisode 11
lundi 8 août 2022 • Durée 40:57
Hey MMP Fans... This episode is very different from the others. I wanted to do an episode that highlights another actor's creative body of work. As I go through the archives of Eddie Murphy interviews, I came across a quote that read... "They were trying to make me the Female Eddie Murphy" (Whoopi Goldberg). I thought that was interesting because of what the beginning of her movie career looked like. I wanted to do my research on her, however, I realized that I didn't know that much about her & her movies. Because of this I went to a very reliable source of information... MY FINANCEE (Steph)! She is the biggest Whoopi Goldberg fan. In this episode we talk about what Whoopi's definitive movies are & Why her "Female Eddie Murphy" label didn't work. We pose the question "Do Whoopi Goldberg movies relate to black audiences?" and Why I think "The Color Purple" is the funniest movie of the 80s. All this plus a shoutout to Moms Mabley and more. Stay Tuned

Saison 3 · Épisode 10
lundi 25 juillet 2022 • Durée 56:49
Returning to the podcast is our guest.. Darien Sills Evans (Abc's The Connors, CBS's East New York). We asked him to comeback to the podcast to give his unbiased opinion on some Eddie Murphy movies that he had never seen before. We talk about the awkward marketing of the movie "Holy Man"; Why I never did an official episode of "Holy Man"; Eddie's movies in the 90s; The insane plot of "Another 48hrs"; possibly getting Doug E Doug, Jeffrey Joseph (Google Him) or Kadeem Hardison on the podcast & Terrible but fun movies of the early 1990s. We drop names of different movies toward the end. You might wanna google them as well ("Def By Temptation", "Heart Condition". "Hanging with The Homeboys"....etc)
Also Darien Sills Evans directed a movie that I highly recommend called "One Bedroom" (Amazon)
