Most recently, Jayden has worked as a staffer for the Charlie Crist campaign.

We hope you enjoy this rerelease of one of our favorite episode: Episode 31. Originally released on June 29, 2020, you will hear us discuss one of our favorite elected officials ever, Buddy Cianci. He was quite a character and reminded us of Tina's favorite show, The Sopranos.

Hillary and Tina cover the illegal occupation of Hawaii and former Providence, Rhode Island Mayor Vincent “Buddy” Cianci.

Hillary’s Story
The island chain of Hawaii was ruled by the Kingdom of Hawaii beginning in 1795, but in 1893, the United States unlawfully invaded the island leading to an overthrow of the Hawaiian government.

Tina’s Story
Buddy Cianci served as the longest serving mayor of Providence, Rhode Island from 1975-1984, and again from 1991-2002. But, when the FBI gets wind of a possible corruption scandal, Buddy may have been too buddy buddy with local scoundrels and found himself in the muck.

Elected in 2016, Lauren Book is a rising star among Florida Democrats. After being unanimously selected Senate Democratic Leader, Lauren has led Democrats in the fight against the growing far- right in Tallahassee.

Leader Book has dedicated her career to fighting childhood sexual abuse both in and out of the Legislature. As Chair of the Children, Families, and Seniors Committee, Lauren reconstructed Florida’s child abuse reporting system, designing a central hotline so that no report is left uninvestigated. She went on to expand Medicaid for newborns and babies from just 3 months to a year- no small feat for a Democrat. Outside of the Legislature, Lauren founded Lauren's Kids, an Emmy Award winning non for profit dedicated to ending childhood sexual abuse through education. Her programming is found in schools in 41 states and internationally.

Senator Book speaks to us about her role as in the Florida Senate, recent legislation, and her hopes for the midterm elections.
