In this conversation, Dr. Zoe Shaw and Michelle Dempsey-Multack explore the complexities of shame, codependency, and the dynamics of feminine and masculine energy in relationships. They discuss the impact of trauma on personal growth and relationships, the importance of vulnerability, and the need for emotional safety. Dr. Zoe shares her insights on how high-achieving women often struggle with their feminine energy and the societal pressures that contribute to this. The discussion also touches on the changing landscape of marriage and divorce, and Dr. Zoe's personal journey through her own divorce, emphasizing the importance of self-care and emotional health. Dr. Zoe specializes in helping women with complex shame and codependency. This was a great conversation on the complexities of how the feminine vs masculine energy shows up in modern relationships. Some other key takeaways from this conversation include: Complex shame can stem from early trauma and societal marginalization. Healing from shame requires vulnerability and empathy. High-achieving women often mask their femininity to succeed. Self-sabotage is common among those with complex shame. Healthy relationships require both partners to be intentional. Feminine energy is powerful and nurturing, not weak. Men need to feel needed to operate in their masculine energy. Self-care is essential for teaching future generations. Divorce can be a catalyst for personal growth and change. Dr. Zoe Shaw is a licensed psychotherapist with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. For over 20 years she has worked to help women overcome Complex Shame™ and co-dependency in order to experience the healthy love you deserve. Learn more about your ad choices. There Are Other Ways to Waste A Life: The Emotional Journey of Leaving a Marriage; with guest Scarlett Longstreet 08 May 202500:48:45
In this conversation, Michelle Dempsey-Multack is joined by popular internet personality, Scarlett Longstreet. Together, they discuss the complexities of divorce, co-parenting, and the emotional journey of self-discovery that often accompanies the end of a marriage. They explore the societal stigma surrounding divorce, the importance of personal growth, and the challenges of integrating new partners into family life. The discussion emphasizes the need for empathy, understanding, and patience as individuals navigate their new realities post-divorce, while also prioritizing the well-being of their children. Key Takeaways: Divorce is often a long and painful process of self-discovery. Women often feel the need to hide their divorce-related content due to societal stigma. Leaving a marriage is rarely a flippant decision; it often involves years of contemplation. The emotional weight of divorce can be heavy, especially when children are involved. It's important to recognize that a loveless marriage can be just as damaging as an abusive one. Co-parenting requires alignment on core values, not just day-to-day decisions. The loss of control after divorce can be one of the hardest aspects to navigate. Healthy relationships post-divorce require personal growth and self-awareness. Integrating new partners into family life should be done with care and patience. It's essential to prioritize children's well-being over adult emotions during and after divorce. In this conversation, Michelle and Nicole explore the complexities of navigating life changes, particularly in midlife and during divorce. They discuss the importance of healthy coping mechanisms, the joy of rediscovering creativity in work, and the significance of intentional co-parenting. Nicole shares her personal journey of transformation, emphasizing the need to let go of the past and embrace new beginnings, while also highlighting the emotional challenges that come with these transitions. Together they will cover: Talking about the "guilt" to alleviate any shame Letting go of what no longer serves you to focus on new possibilities Knowing it is okay to always choose yourself AND MORE Nicole Keshishian Modic, aka “Kalejunkie”, is a proud Armenian and full-time food blogger and recipe developer based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Nicole started her food blog almost 9 years ago onInstagram, as a hobby, while she was on maternity leave from her job as a lawyer. She used Instagram to document food she was eating as she began healing from a 15 + year eating disorder that no one knew about. At the time, she was a practicing lawyer, using food to cope with the stress and demands of her chosen career. At the time, Nicole’s definition of “healthy” was a diet consisting solely of plain salads, bland chicken breast, green juice, and KALE—and so, the name “Kalejunkie” was born. But over time, her relationship with food began to shift. Nicole realized that within the definition of “healthy,” there is room for all foods, way beyond just salads and green juice and kale, and that limiting entire food groups was not sustainable. It was SAD! And so, her love affair with recipe development began. Nicole spent hours upon hours in the kitchen creating easy, accessible, and super flavorful recipes, with lots of healthy desserts included. In October 2022, her first cookbook, Love To Eat, was published with Ten Speed Press/Penguin Randomhouse. This book served to inspire others heal their relationship with food and love to eat. These days, Nicole is serving up vibrant, elevated dishes to her social media community of over 3M combined and is regularly featured on Good Morning America, Feed Feed, Tastemade, and other large media outlets and publications.
