| Financial Abuse and Divorce: Signs your Spouse is Hiding Money: with guest Tracy Coenen | 03 Oct 2022 | 00:26:14 | |
What is financial abuse in a marriage and what can you do about it? This week forensic accountant Tracy Coenen joins Michelle Dempsey-Multack to educate listeners on the signs of financial abuse and what to do if you feel your spouse is hiding money.
In this episode of Moms Moving On, Tracy shares:
What to do when you are being controlled financially
Educating yourself on money as an adult
Relying on family and friends when starting over financially
Identifying red flags that your spouse is hiding money
AND MUCH MORE
Tracy has been investigating fraud for more than 25 years, but she didn’t always want to be a forensic accountant. With a dream of one day being a prison warden, Tracy went to Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI to get a criminology degree. A class on financial crime investigations reminded her how much she loved Encyclopedia Brown books as a kid. She continued her criminology degree, but added accounting and economics courses so she could sit for the CPA exam… and here Tracy is, finding money in cases of corporate fraud, high net worth divorce, and other financial shenanigans. Tracy created the Divorce Money Guide to help people find the money in divorce.
Tracy is known as a no nonsense forensic accountant who delivers the “real deal” to her clients. Let’s face it: When your money is on the line, there is zero time to dance around an issue. Her passion lies in helping people find answers. Answers to questions like “Where did our money go?”
After years of watching those who couldn’t justify the cost of a forensic accountant lose thousands of dollars in their divorces, Tracy knew she had to create a solution. That’s why she put her heart into creating the Divorce Money Guide. Tracy takes divorcing people step-by-step through the process of gathering and analyzing their financial documents to see whether there is money missing.

| Finding your Passion After Divorce: How to Spend Your Kid-Free Time with Things That Fill your Cup; with guest Jade Sklaver | 29 Aug 2022 | 00:31:19 | |
When we become parents, we never imagine spending time away from our children. Divorce changes that, and many of us are left with 50% of our time without them. This week, Jade Sklaver joins Moms Moving On to discuss how she turned her time away from her daughter into a successful business. Jade and I touch on the importance of finding a hobby and your purpose during your time away from your children.
As a University of Florida graduate, Jade Sklaver, founder of StyleChild, majored in Public Relations and pursued many fashion related internships while still in school. After completing rotations at Barney's New York, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and major fashion PR firms, she had no doubt that was the path she was headed down. Working at a few major labels after graduating, Sklaver found herself being hired by Norma Kamali as her right hand person in design and production. The opening on the team proved to be an invaluable opportunity and would ultimately shape her future. Sklaver gained experience working with factories, fabrics, and design in addition to learning product development and production. After another corporate fashion position, and marriage, Sklaver made her way to South Florida and had her daughter, Liv Jaymes. Liv became the inspiration for what came next: StyleChild.
While pregnant with Liv and yearning for a passion project, Sklaver started building the foundation for what is now StyleChild, a kid's shoe company specializing in functional and stylish shoes at affordable prices. The business started with reselling cute and trendy "no label" sneakers and as popularity grew, Sklaver knew she needed a brand of her own to stand behind. After a major life change, Jade decided to take a leap of faith and commit to work directly with the factory to design, manufacture, and produce sneakers under her own label StyleChild. Since then, StyleChild has grown into over 25 exclusive styles, retails in stores all across the country and in Canada and has a highly trafficked website. Most recently, Jade and her small team opened a by-appointment (virtual and in-person) showroom and warehouse in Boca Raton, Florida which has given her customers a personalized shopping experience - especially important during the pandemic. Dedicated to being the best mother and entrepreneur, Jade feels passionate that others can have that same work-life balance and do something they love. She recently launched a Kicks Starter affiliate program that allows other mothers to start their own business selling the StyleChild label in specific markets.

Together they will cover:
Talking about the "guilt" to alleviate any shame
Letting go of what no longer serves you to focus on new possibilities
Knowing it is okay to always choose yourself
AND MORE
Nicole Keshishian Modic, aka “Kalejunkie”, is a proud Armenian and full-time food blogger and recipe developer based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Nicole started her food blog almost 9 years ago onInstagram, as a hobby, while she was on maternity leave from her job as a lawyer. She used Instagram to document food she was eating as she began healing from a 15 + year eating disorder that no one knew about. At the time, she was a practicing lawyer, using food to cope with the stress and demands of her chosen career. At the time, Nicole’s definition of “healthy” was a diet consisting solely of plain salads, bland chicken breast, green juice, and KALE—and so, the name “Kalejunkie” was born. But over time, her relationship with food began to shift. Nicole realized that within the definition of “healthy,” there is room for all foods, way beyond just salads and green juice and kale, and that limiting entire food groups was not sustainable. It was SAD! And so, her love affair with recipe development began. Nicole spent hours upon hours in the kitchen creating easy, accessible, and super flavorful recipes, with lots of healthy desserts included. In October 2022, her first cookbook, Love To Eat, was published with Ten Speed Press/Penguin Randomhouse. This book served to inspire others heal their relationship with food and love to eat. These days, Nicole is serving up vibrant, elevated dishes to her social media community of over 3M combined and is regularly featured on Good Morning America, Feed Feed, Tastemade, and other large media outlets and publications.

Jess is a single mom of two, Michelle’s assistant and lead coach at the Moving On Method®. She has worked alongside Michelle for years and takes a child centered approach to co-parenting. Jess was a SAHM while going through her divorce in 2018 and the thought of spending time away from her kids broke her heart. She quickly learned that it isn’t always about the quantity of time spent with her kids, rather the quality. Her and her children live in Wisconsin and love everything the Midwest has to offer. As a family, they enjoy watching football, playing golf, getting outside and creating fun memories together. When Jess is not with her kids, she is spending time with her new partner, golfing and enjoying time with her girlfriends. As a child of divorce who has no relationship with her father, Jess wanted to ensure her children grew up having a strong relationship with both of their parents.
As a coach, Jess is passionate about empowering her clients and helping them move on emotionally after the divorce is final. She works closely with her clients to help them find new ways to fill their cup as they enter the world of co-parenting. She also enjoys working with clients to create a child-centered parenting plan that is fine tuned to avoid any grey area. If you are looking for support during or after the divorce, Jess would be honored to work with you.
