Non-Response Bias
dimanche 11 mai 2025 • Durée 05:53
Non-response bias occurs when the responses collected in a survey or study are not representative of the entire population due to certain groups being more likely to respond than others. It can skew the results and lead to inaccurate conclusions.
The silent majority skews the story 📉🔇 When those who don't respond change the outcome more than those who do.

Theory of Mind
samedi 10 mai 2025 • Durée 05:44
Theory of mind refers to the ability to attribute mental states, such as beliefs, intentions, and emotions, to oneself and others and to understand that others have beliefs, desires, and perspectives different from one's own. It enables individuals to interpret and predict the behavior of others based on their mental states and is essential for social cognition and interpersonal relationships.
Reading minds—sort of 🧠👀 Understanding that others have thoughts, beliefs, and intentions different from your own.

Confirmation Bias
jeudi 1 mai 2025 • Durée 05:27
Confirmation bias is the tendency for individuals to seek out, interpret, and remember information in a way that confirms their existing beliefs or hypotheses, while ignoring or discounting contradictory evidence. Horn Effect
vendredi 20 décembre 2024 • Durée 03:51
The Horn Effect, also known as the Devil Effect, is a cognitive bias where an individual's perception of someone's negative trait or characteristic colors their judgment of other unrelated attributes or qualities, leading to an overall negative impression. Similar to the Halo Effect in reverse, which involves the perception of someone positively based on a single positive trait, the Horn Effect demonstrates how negative perceptions can overshadow other positive qualities.
One flaw clouds the full picture. Horn Effect is the darker twin of the Halo Effect. 🔻👁️ #HornEffect #CognitiveBias #Perception #MentalModels #Awareness

Hofstadter's Law
jeudi 19 décembre 2024 • Durée 03:51
Hofstadter's Law, proposed by cognitive scientist Douglas Hofstadter, states that "It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's Law." This law highlights the tendency for individuals to underestimate the time and effort required to complete tasks, projects, or goals, even when they consciously adjust their estimates to account for potential delays or obstacles.
Everything takes longer than you expect, even when you expect delays. Plan smarter with Hofstadter's Law. 🕰️⚠️ #HofstadtersLaw #TimeManagement #Planning #MentalModels #Delays

Hick's Law
mercredi 18 décembre 2024 • Durée 03:47
Hick's Law, also known as Hick-Hyman Law, states that the time it takes for an individual to make a decision increases logarithmically with the number of choices or stimuli presented. In other words, as the number of options increases, the decision-making process becomes more complex and time-consuming, leading to slower response times and potentially poorer decision quality.
More options, slower decisions. Simplify choices to act faster—thank Hick's Law for the insight. ⏳🛠️ #HicksLaw #MentalModels #DecisionMaking #Efficiency #Simplify

Hanlon's Razor
mardi 17 décembre 2024 • Durée 03:50
Hanlon's Razor is a philosophical principle that advises individuals to avoid attributing malice to actions that can be adequately explained by incompetence, ignorance, or misunderstanding. In other words, when faced with puzzling or frustrating behavior from others, Hanlon's Razor encourages giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming good intentions rather than assuming malicious intent.
Never attribute to malice what can be explained by ignorance. Hanlon's Razor keeps paranoia in check. 🔍🤷♂️ #HanlonsRazor #MentalModels #Perspective #Clarity #Bias

Halo Effect
lundi 16 décembre 2024 • Durée 04:04
The Halo Effect is a cognitive bias where individuals perceive someone or something positively in one aspect, and this positive perception influences their judgments or evaluations of other unrelated attributes or qualities. In essence, the Halo Effect occurs when a single positive trait or characteristic creates a favorable overall impression, leading individuals to overlook or downplay other aspects that may not be as positive.
One good trait casts a golden glow on everything else. Don't let the Halo Effect blind your judgment. 🌟👀 #HaloEffect #CognitiveBias #Perception #MentalModels #Awareness

Group Think
dimanche 15 décembre 2024 • Durée 03:24
Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon where members of a cohesive group prioritize consensus and harmony over critical thinking and independent evaluation of ideas. In groupthink, individuals may suppress dissenting opinions, conform to group norms, and engage in collective decision-making that overlooks alternative perspectives or risks. This can lead to flawed decision-making, poor judgment, and the failure to consider all available information or alternatives.
Consensus kills creativity. Beware of Group Think, where harmony stifles innovation. 🤝💡 #GroupThink #MentalModels #DecisionMaking #Creativity #CriticalThinking

Grass is Greener Mentality
samedi 14 décembre 2024 • Durée 03:59
The Grass is Greener Mentality is a cognitive bias where individuals perceive alternatives or opportunities outside of their current situation as more desirable or advantageous, often leading to dissatisfaction with their present circumstances and a desire for change. This bias can stem from comparing oneself to others, romanticizing distant possibilities, or seeking novelty and excitement.
The allure of elsewhere. Grass is Greener Mentality reminds us that perception often beats reality. 🌱➡️🌱 #MentalModels #Perspective #Gratitude #SelfAwareness #Happiness
