As Rob reflects in our first episode, the new Prime Minister managed to get Donald Trump and Jeremy Corbyn in his corner on his first day. But how will his premiership unfold? And how will this English graduate and former “wannabe journalist” charm the country and use his experience as mayor of Greater Manchester to shape the trajectory of Britain? “He doesn't think he can solve the problems, he in himself absolutely believes he can solve the problems,” says Sarah, on the podcast. “And he takes with him some hope and an ability to communicate that has been lacking, and an ability to communicate the issues. Now, it might be that in a few years' time we're having the same, or even a few months' time, the same conversation and it's not worked out. “But he looked me in the eyes and I thought, "You are absolutely certain!" She played the perfect grieving widow. But it was all an act. In a crime that shocked Greater Manchester, it emerged Coleen Campbell had played a key role in the murder of ex husband Thomas Campbell. The pair had lived the good life together as criminals, but things soured and they ended up separating after allegations of cheating. He moved on with his life, but in a crime motivated by jealousy and rage, Coleen plotted with criminal mastermind, John Belfield, to get Thomas back. Thomas was then ambushed on his doorstep and brutally murdered by three men. One of the men has never been caught. In this week’s episode of The Mancunian Way, lead detective DI Paul Davies details how he tracked down the killers to bring them to justice, and he gives an update on the investigation into the missing culprit. Greater Manchester's new mayor Bev Craig has unveiled plans for a major cost of living summit aimed at easing pressure on struggling families, as she vowed to put the city-region ahead of party politics in her dealings with Prime Minister Andy Burnham. In a wide-ranging exclusive interview with the Manchester Evening News, her first since winning last week's mayoral election, Craig revealed she will bring together businesses, charities and financial institutions in September to explore new ways of cutting household costs. She also insisted she would not hesitate to push Burnham for more powers and funding, saying: "My job isn't to be friends with the Prime Minister. It's to get the best deal" for Greater Manchester.
