Skeptic Discusses UFO Community as Entertainment, Not Science10 Jan 202401:01:34

Host Jim Malliard was joined by friend and periodic guest Chris George Zuger, who took a skeptical look at the UFO and disclosure community. Chris argued that the field is driven by entertainment and business interests rather than legitimate research. He doesn't believe advanced alien civilizations are visiting Earth or collaborating with governments, as he feels they would avoid our "dysfunctional" species. Chris and Jim discussed how media and conspiracy thinking have changed over the years, with Chris saying many theories are now too "insane" to take seriously. They also reminisced about collaborating in the past and complimented each other's growth and successes.

Things change, life happens, and sometimes you have to just learn to roll with the punches. This week on The Malliard Report, this happened to just be the case. But what can you do right? Adapt, overcome, and run with something else. So this week on The Malliard Report, Jim opens up the phone lines and discusses what interesting things are happening within the world of sports.

To a large number of people, it is no surprise that people have become sick and tired of sports being used as a platform to push one agenda or another. People tune into sports simply to watched the best of the best compete against each other, not to be told what and how we should think. In a growing trend to turn back to the true nature of sports, many teams are holding unique events, focusing on bigger games, and getting back to the roots of the sport. The baseball game held at the Field of Dreams sandlot, NASCAR holding “indoor” events, and even players making moves that benefit the sport and teams rather than themselves. (Love him or hate him, Tom Brady’s move to Tampa Bay and taking a “pay cut” to help build a team certainly deserves respect) During this episode long time show friend, producer, and listener German Town Runner calls in and shares his thoughts on this very subject. Dave is always a wealth of information and his insights are always spot on.

You too can be a part of the interactive community every Tuesday night at 9 P.M. EST over on malliard.com in the “duck pond.” The website also allows you to catch up on past shows, sign up for the newsletter, order merch, and much more. Live Calls28 Jul 202101:00:00

07272021This week on The Malliard Report Jim pulls a fan favorite and opens up the phone lines, and the conversation certainly kicks off come lively debates. The topics are certainly diverse and lively and even spills into the Duck Pond live chat. This week one of the main hit points is the most recent motion to allow college athletes to be compensated and the money that talks in NCAA.

So, should collegiate athletes be paid for their tenure at university? This is something that is not new to the proverbial table and has been discussed ad nauseum for many years. There are solid arguments both for and against the topic and we’ll run through a few here:

“They Rake In Cash for Their Schools. College athletes make their schools millions of dollars, so they should naturally receive a cut of the action. This argument holds true especially for football and basketball players, who become household names during their respective seasons. They Give Their Schools Valuable Exposure. The exposure student-athletes bring to their schools can boost applications and donations. The Flutie Effect on college admissions — named for Doug Flutie, the Boston College quarterback who put his institution on the map in 1984 with his famous Hail Mary pass against the University of Miami and his Heisman-winning season — can be dramatic. For BC, the effect was a 30% increase in applications over two years. Playing Equals Working. Participating in intercollegiate athletics constitutes a full-time job. A 2017 NCAA survey revealed that Division I athletes dedicate an average of 35 hours per week to their sport during the season. Sports Take Away From Studies. Sports' considerable time commitment cuts into students' study time. Leaving aside barbs about the "student" part of "student-athlete," how is an athlete supposed to keep up with academics during their playing season? What about earning good grades and positioning oneself for the competitive job market? Might some form of financial compensation make this compromise easier to take? Athletes Need Spending Money. Like other college students, athletes need spending money. Even if a student receives a full-ride scholarship, the award doesn't provide pocket money for incidentals and entertainment. If a student doesn't hold a part-time job, where does that money come from (besides their parents)? The Potential for Injury Makes Compensation a Must. Athletes constantly risk injury and therefore deserve proper compensation. A seriously injured athlete could lose their scholarship (which is guaranteed only for one year at a time), jeopardize their opportunity to play professionally and potentially earn millions, or even face lifelong disability if the damage is permanent.”

So now that we argued for why they should be paid, let’s take a look at why we should not pay students: “They Already Get Full Scholarships. One of the primary arguments against paying student-athletes rests on the assumption that they already receive full college scholarships. But as we've discussed, this is seldom the case — most athletes only receive partial scholarships. Secondary Sports Would Suffer. If a university decided to pay student-athletes, where would that money come from? Not likely from the school itself. Of the roughly 1,100 athletic programs governed by the NCAA, only 25 had net positive revenue in 2019. The vast sums earned from football and basketball subsidize all other sp Exactly who gets paid and how much? The economics of a paid-athlete system is messy at best. At worst, it's chaotic and threatens team morale. Should all athletes be paid? That's not likely. How about only football and basketball players? What determines how much each player should earn? Is the third-string left guard worth as much as the starting quarterback? Will the coach make these determinations? What if the coach's son plays on the team? Determining Salaries Could Get Messy. Rich Universities Would Benefit the Most. Assuming a free-market system, the chasm between the haves and have-nots would widen even further. Universities best positioned to pay athletes top dollar would win bidding wars and recruiting battles against institutions with limited budgets. Athletic competition nationwide would suffer as a result. Might the It Would Take Away From the Love of the Game is exacerbate booster interference and create a black market for top talent funded surreptitiously? Title IX Could Muddy Payment Structure. Title IX stipulates that colleges must provide equal opportunities for male and female athletes. Does this rule apply to payment structures, too, though? Would a university have to pay female athletes in aggregate the same amount as their male counterparts? Not necessarily — but a school would be required to ensure that female athlete receive proportionate opportunities for scholarships.”

As you can see, there really is no easy answer to this question, but there is certainly room for lively discussion, in which we invite you to join in every Tuesday night over at malliard.com. Live Calls03 Mar 202101:00:00

03022021

It is the first Tuesday of the month, and you know what that means! Your water bill is due. Also, it’s open lines! This week is no exception to being a great show. While it is open lines, the first caller is more of a returning guest with an amazing cause (and a bit of a planted call). Fan-favorite Chef Andrew Gruel calls in to discuss his fundraising campaign 86 struggle.

“Restaurants in the U.S. are in an "economic free fall" amid the ongoing spike in coronavirus cases and the forced shutdowns, with almost 20% of dining establishments around the country having closed permanently since the start of the pandemic. This has left thousands of restaurant workers struggling to survive, many unable to pay even the most basic bills and put food on the table. In the absence of any substantial government relief and a gridlock in state unemployment agencies, it is incumbent on us within the community to help one another. All of the funds raised will be re-distributed directly to restaurant workers, via checks and electronic platforms, who have either lost their job or are in need of a small leg-up to cover rent payments, medical bills, childcare or any other day-to-day help.”

As with any call-in episode, the topics of discussion are as varied as can be. The abysmal and ever falling graduation rates of high school students in conjunction with their ever-failing performance standards. An alarming trend of that is moving at an exponential rate and what exactly is to blame? Failing educational infrastructures? Technology? Teaching to simply pass a standardized test so as to fatten the paycheck of the top-level school board members? And to add icing to the proverbial diverse and weird cake, we round out the show discussing a “scrapped” (give it time, if one were to guess, it makes a comeback) program from Microsoft that would allow someone to speak to the dead. No, we’re not talking medium abilities or ITC research (which is a common theme on this show) but rather AI. Microsoft has created a rather Black Mirror-esque program that would cull "social data" such as images, social media posts, messages, voice data and written letters from the chosen individual. That data would be used to train a chatbot to "converse and interact in the personality of the specific person." It could also rely on outside data sources, in case the user asked a question of the bot that couldn't be answered based on the person's social data.

The live call ins are always a great time, and a great way to be part of the show. Make sure to tune in every Tuesday night a 9 PM EST over on malliard.com where you can join in on the conversation and remember that the First Tuesday is open lines. (Now with a bigger two hour block!) If you would like to donate to Chef Gruel’s fund you can do so through malliard.com/restaurant 86struggle.com or if you are fortunate enough to live in the vicinity of one of his incredible SlapFish (or Big Parm if in the Southern California area) Restaurants you can make a donation in person. If you are a restaurant worker that is struggling do not hesitate to reach out to Jim or Andrew and they can certainly do their best to help.

Game Stop? Rum? Live Calls!03 Feb 202100:59:59

02022021Over the last few weeks, we have witnessed one of the wildest rides of an American Stock to date, and also a glaring light on of the darkest practices within these markets. Recently, a short squeeze of the stock for GameStop and a few other securities took place, causing major financial consequences for particular hedge funds and large losses for short sellers. Approximately 140 percent of GameStop's public float had been sold short, and the rush to buy shares to cover those positions as the price rose caused it to rise even further. The short squeeze was initially and primarily triggered by users of the subreddit r/wallstreetbets, an Internet forum on the social news website Reddit. At its height, on January 28, the short squeeze caused the retailer's stock price to reach a pre-market value of over US$500 per share, nearly 30 times the $17.25 valuation at the beginning of the month. The price of many other heavily shorted securities also increased. A number of major brokerages including Robinhood, halted the buying of GameStop and other securities, later citing their inability to post sufficient collateral at clearing houses to execute their clients' orders. This decision attracted criticism and accusations of market manipulation from prominent politicians and businesspeople from across the political spectrum. Dozens of class action lawsuits were filed against Robinhood in U.S. courts, and U.S. House Committee on Financial Services chair Maxine Waters announced a congressional hearing on the incident set for February 18. In reaction to brokerages halting the buying of GameStop and other securities, the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies and metal futures increased as well.

It is the monthly open phone lines event this week on The Malliard Report, and I’m sure by now you can guess what one of the primary topics of discussion is. Receiving calls from former guests that are experts in the field, and the thoughts and opinions from the “man on the street”, there is a lot to be said about what has happened over the last few weeks. This is a great show (as all call-in episodes are) and it helps clear up a little as to what exactly happened. It certainly can be confusing. Remember to join in on the excitement for the live calls every first Tuesday of the month over at malliard.com where you can also subscribe to the newsletter, catch up on past shows and more. Connect with Jim on all social media outlets @malliard and don’t forget to rate and subscribe through your favorite podcasting/streaming service.

Live Calls January 202106 Jan 202101:00:00

01052021The plot thickens, the water temperature is getting hotter, the noose is getting tighter, and any other analogy that you may be able to think up regarding the current situation that we find ourselves politically. As we sit here just a few days out from the certification of the Electoral College the tension in the air is palpable. Rumors of chaos unfolding. Clamors of elections being overturned. Q. You name it, it has been out in the universe lately. If you believe in any of it, or none of it at all, the one thing is that is absolutely certain, we seem to have reached a tipping point, and not for the better.

This week on The Malliard Report, Jim wants to get an actual pulse on what is happening on “the streets” and it just so happens to fall on the first Tuesday of the month. On this episode Jim opens up the phone lines for live calls and the audience does not disappoint. As chaotic as the idiot box would want to tell us, nothing is more telling to what is actually happening than what is referred to as the “kitchen window view.” What is actually happening in our day to day. What does it really look like, not what we are told that it looks like.

Make sure to be part of the action every Tuesday night in the duck pond chat over on malliard.com where you can do more than just chat with other fans. Dr. Price does an absolute fantastic job at truly debunking the myth that laziness is just a trait that some people take on, shows that we really need to enjoy the accomplishments from the day, and not focus on the what else we could have done.

12222020"Where do you think you're going? Nobody's leaving. Nobody's walking out on this fun, old-fashioned family Christmas. No, no. We're all in this together. This is a full-blown, four-alarm holiday emergency here. We're gonna press on, and we're gonna have the hap, hap, happiest Christmas since Bing Crosby tap-danced with Danny f*****g Kaye. And when Santa squeezes his fat white ass down that chimney tonight, he's gonna find the jolliest bunch of a******s this side of the nuthouse."

Dust of those jingle bells, hang the holly high, and shine up the shiny tree balls, it is Christmas! For being a year that has felt like we have been perpetually stuck in March, we suddenly find ourselves looking at the calendar and asking ourselves “WHAT IS THIS!?” This week on The Malliard Report Jim is the spirit of the season and wants you to be too.

Shepard Ambellas16 Dec 202001:00:00

12152020The current climate in which we find ourselves currently is a strange one to say the least. None of what has transpired over the last nine months has made a bit of sense and most of the time we are left with more questions than answers. Added to that is a level of division among the masses that seems to grow wider on a neat daily basis. However, there is one element that almost everyone agrees on. There is something deeper to everything that is happening and we are not being told. With things like Event 201 and Operation Dark Winter bubbling up to the mainstream, and harking back to past peculiarities that made alternative news headlines from years back, one can’t help but notice that we are being batted around like a mouse in the paws of large cat. But what are the powers that be hiding? Are they trying to sweep in Agenda 21 and the New World Order? Are they prepping us for a more cataclysmic event that is on the horizon? (Yellowstone super volcano? Planet X/Nibiru moves in from its long-extended orbit wreaking havoc on our little celestial neighborhood? Alien invasion?) While it isn’t completely clear, there is for sure something odd happening and this week’s guest on The Malliard Report has been clued in for a while. This week Jim welcomes Shepard Ambellas to the show to discuss, this and many other strange goings on that we see almost daily.

“Shepard Leigh Ambellas is a nationally syndicated talk show host, journalist, filmmaker, film producer, musician, and founder and editor-in-chief of Intellihub (news and politics) which is one of the most popular alternative news websites in the world and the U.S. alike. Established in 2013, Intellihub.com is now ranked in the 1% tier for all Internet traffic worldwide according to Alexa.com. The Shepard Ambellas Show is nationally syndicated on iHeartRadio and climbing the charts fast. Apple Podcasts currently lists the broadcast as #53 in the U.S. “news and commentary” and #64 in Canada. Ambellas has appeared on nationally syndicated radio shows, including Coast To Coast AM, the largest late night terrestrial radio show in the world (on a highly rated broadcast), Internet radio, television, several films, books, and print news media including the London Guardian newspaper in an article titled Bilderberg 2012: bigger and badder and better than ever. Ambellas’ work has also been linked to tens-of-thousands of websites worldwide. Ambellas also appeared on the Travel Channel series America Declassified.”

This is a great episode, and Shepard has truly been on the front lines for the hunt for truth. You can keep up to date with Shepard’s latest over on intellihub.com; there are links to podcasts, articles, and much more. The Malliard Party02 Dec 202001:00:00

12012020It has been over a month since the American Presidential Election has taken place and we still await an “official” answer on who will be the next individual to take the seat. Lawsuits from several states are being drawn up for a multitude of different reasons, and even now (at the point of this writing) the state of Texas is currently suing other states for not acting fast enough. Alleged voter fraud, ballot harvesting, counting issues and so much more. While this draws people into so many different directions, teams, viewpoints, and the waters are continually muddied, one thing has been made very clear. America is divided and the current two-party system has failed us. The fact that we only have a two-party system shows that we have failed politically. What is needed is a refresh of ideas, of procedure, of people. What if there is a third option? A legitimate third party. A Malliard party. Ass, Elephant, Duck. Is Jim planning a 2024 run?

While no formal announcement for a Whitehouse run will be made on this episode, Jim opens the phone lines ask the listening audience where they see things heading, and what should be done. This episode provides a great insight into the political temperature and what people really want. Not what we are told we want.
