As Rose slowly suffers the consequences of her actions, the rest of the investigators find themselves inside Four Mile Crib. Many mysteries lie within, testing their physical and mental abilities. But what happens when they solve everything?

The investigators commandeer a boat to take them to the green pillar of light out in Lake Michigan. They aren't the only ones interested, and they soon find themselves entertaining dangerous company. 

Cora Gray, ever one for death-defying adventures into the occult, agrees to help the Lovelies find one of the last portals they need to close (at least according to Dr. Osborn). It quickly becomes clear that the investigators opened the door for more than what they bargained for when using the symbol found in the franken-rats' sacrificial chamber to open a portal.

A building on Miskatonic University's campus is reportedly haunted. So haunted, in fact, that the staff completely abandon it every year around Halloween. Technically, there are two paranormal research groups for the job, but only one was willing to take it: The Graves Society.

The investigators finally corner the franken-rats after their creator was dragged away by giant tentacles. They learn much more about the trouser rat society that has formed in the weeks since Milton created them, perhaps more than they anticipated. Four investigators enter. How many will return?

The Lovelies discover just how advanced the trouser rats really are. In uncovering the truth behind the rodents' creation, the investigators come face-to-face with the Dr. Frankenstein behind the rats, and find a more horrifying mystery to untangle.

The Lovelies rescue a student from the clutches of a pair of rats with spears as well as pants. Their encounter with these weaponized rodents leaves them wondering not just how they got there, but who made them and to what end. The answers may be more than they bargained for as they catch a larger group of the creatures unawares.

The Lovelies meet up with Willy, their captive mobster, in the morgue of the UIC medical building. There, he introduces them to a body that died from what seemed to be exposure in otherwise temperate weather. The body also has the same half-dollar sized bruises as the one on Ruby's forehead. Things scurry at the edge of their sight, fleeting but persistent.

In the small amount of recovery time after the trip through the labyrinth, Amby learns more about her newfound love of water...and her compulsion to drown her husband. Milly puts her PI skills to use bribing street urchins and hears about the mob world after the explosion at the Pella Mansion. Rose's family is worse for wear after her tussle with Gaston's affairs. But more dangerous still is what Ruby encounters once she's been left alone in the medical building on campus.

With Ambrosia's husband in tow, the investigators sneak out of Marty's apartment and make their way to the campus morgue. There, they interrogate the guard from Papa Pella's house being held hostage, and it quickly becomes clear that not all is as it seems. Even close to home.

After everything, the Lovelies take a breather to recuperate and piece together what they've learned so far. They also start asking uncomfortable questions about their friend Irene and just how much she actually knows about what's going on. Marty brings them word from Ruby's friend, whose cafe is more trouble than they know.
