Bajaj Auto introduced its first indigenous scooter brand in 1972: Chetak. The Chetak's popularity was so high that apparently it's resale value was greater than it's purchase price.

The partnership of Munjal Family & Honda Motors of Japan was so successful that in 1987, Hero produced its 100,000th motorcycle.

Manyavar vs Raymond

Raymond of the 2000s had more than 300 stores across more than 100 cities in India.

Manyavar began it's journey in 1999 and by 2010, it had crossed the 100th store mark. By 2013, it reached 300 doors across 100 Indian cities.

Jet Airways vs IndiGo

Naresh Goyal started Jet Airways in 1993 and it literally took off by the end of 2006. Jet Airways dominated the Indian aviation market share at 32.3%.

Rahul Bhatia and Rakesh Gangwal, friends who first met in the USA far back in 1985, founded Interglobe Aviation in 2006 when the #1 player in private airlines was Jet Airways.

Our episode 3 is about battle fought in the skies: Jet Airways vs IndiGo.

Tune into this episode, as Anupam and Ambi discuss how IndiGo introduced the concept of Low Cost Carrier (LCC) to take on its competitor Jet Airways. They also tell us what led to the downfall of Jet Airways and how IndiGo rapidly grew to become the first Indian carrier to operate 1000 flights per day.

Britannia vs ITC

In the early 2000s, Britannia and Parle held, between them over 82% of the market in value terms.

But between 2003-05, ITC was able to add a staggering 1.2 million retail outlets to its FMCG network, the largest by any company in India.

Within 3 years, ITC got an 8% market share of the overall biscuit market.

HUL vs Nirma

HUL had a 41% market share of detergents in 1975 and by 1987, their share dipped to just 7%. Nirma went from 12% in 1977 to 62% in 1987.

On the second episode, we tell you about how does a businessman, Karsanbhai Patel from Gujarat takes on the mighty HUL? Through the 1970s and the 1980s, Karsanbhai waged and won a huge war against HUL in the category of detergents.

Tune into this episode, as our hosts Anupam and Ambi tell you about, how HUL launched Wheel washing bar in 1988 and really gave it back to Nirma. 

And by 2002, HUL and Nirma had equal shares of 38% ; imagine that from 1987 when HUL as at 7%.
