Talking to Candice Bithell was eye opening. She helped me see things in a new light and different perspective. As an infant, she was thrown in the trash when she was 2 days old, and later grew up in an abusive home. After overcoming her own trials and meeting and marrying her husband, she had to learn to manage kids learning to navigate their identity, her faith, and balancing culture and love all at the same time. She is amazing..

Des has suffered from seizures for many years and has had 3 brain surgeries to try to curb them. During her last surgery, she suffered a stroke but was not informed by her surgeons until after she fell out of bed in the recovery room without any knowledge that her legs didn't work. She lost function in one of her arms and for the last 8 years has managed to dominate life one-handed, and with a whole lotta humor along the way.

Jenedy Paige is an accomplished oil painter, and competitive Ninja Warrior. After reviving her son from drowning in a pool, he suffered sympathetic storming and passed away. Jenedy then trained to be on the hit TV show "American Ninja Warrior" where she has competed on 4 seasons now. She now coaches ninja classes, painting classes, and journals everyday, where she is able to see the tender mercies of God all throughout her life. She is an inspiration.

Brianna was a dancer and collided with another dancer and her ankle was injured. What should have healed over a few days, turned into a massive infection with swelling, open wounds, and her nervous system attacking itself. Her leg was amputated and it was the greatest day she had had in years! Listen to her story and how amputating her leg was the start of a new life!

I think this has been my most important conversation yet, and my hope is that you will first and foremost; CONTACT YOUR LEGISLATOR/SENATOR and urge this bill to be passed (HB 272-OM'S LAW) and secondly, share this with your friends and family and ask them to do the same. So many women and children are being abused and don't say anything because it is almost always made worse for them. "Getting out" or "Walking away" isn't that easy. No one should have to live a nightmare like Leah did for YEARS. She is my friend. I have other friends facing the same consequences she did, as a result of legal abuse and uneducated "experts" who have no expertise in domestic violence or child abuse. Please message the senator in your county and urge HB272, "Om's Law," to PASS. We have one week. This goes to the senate last week of February.

My name is Leah Moses, I’m Om’s mom.

9 months ago, my 16-year-old son Om was murdered by his father on Mother’s Day weekend during court-ordered parent time. Om was brutally shot twice in the back and once in his face by a 45 caliber handgun bought from a pawn shop on the same State Street in Salt Lake City as the courthouse where I fought in family court for 14 years trying to keep my children safe. I supplied the courts with extensive evidence of Om's father's abuse and the risk to my children, but it fell on deaf ears.

Sally Jean Mart struggled with infertility for years and finally resorted to adoption. But not just a regular adoption, she took babies and children with disabilities. 17 of them! From blindness to Cerebral Palsy, limb deformities, and Autism.....Down Syndrome and ADHD, and Spina Bifida. And that doesn't even scrape the surface of the emotional and psychological attachment issues that often come with adoption and previous abuse. Katie Mart, who was adopted at birth and is wheelchair bound, talks lovingly of her mother, who dedicated her life to kids who needed her 24 hour attention physically and mentally. I admire Angela so much. This cannot be an easy topic to talk about and she did it with so much grace and self-love and compassion.  She lost her beautiful 2 year old to a tragic accident and in this episode you'll find out why one word in a blessing she received changed her life forever.  It's one I want to incorporate into my own life forever.  She left an imprint on me and I know she will on you too.  She has courage, and a tremendous amount of bravery to talk about something so traumatic.  I am so proud to be her friend.

Today I got to talk to one of my favorite gals, Laura Griffiths. Laura and I not only went to high school together, but she does my HAIR! She is a perfectionist and does the best job every time. And man, that girl has been through so much. Following the death of her father, her family has experienced so much disease and loss of life and it's just plain been unfair. She developed DCIS, underwent 5 surgeries, torn cadaver skin, and you guessed it, nipple tattoos. K, maybe you didn't guess that part. Her story is fascinating and she was so open and vulnerable and was willing to share it all, in hopes of helping someone else. She's so positive and vibrant and has so much to offer in this world. It was at my 20 week ultrasound where I was told that my little babe had a clear and visible clubfoot and that if there was any deformity I wanted, it would be "this one." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I didn't want ANY deformity! But sure enough, little Niko came out with a completely backwards foot and we started the long journey of weekly castings, shriner's hospital visits, tenotomy surgery, boots and bar, blisters, pressure sores, sleepless nights, and pain. It was hard. For all you clubfoot mamas out there in the thick of casting and crying, this one's for you.

I have so much respect for Megan Phillips. After learning that her younger sister was born without a uterus, she knew she would have a baby for her. After having 4 of her own, including twins, she became the surrogate for her sister and delivered a healthy baby boy. She discusses her journey of loneliness, empowerment, discomfort, selflessness, and JOY. I'm so dang proud of her.

And I thought 2019 was bad! Holy moly I got my life HANDED each and every year after that! From 3 tonsillectomies and tubes in one day, to recovery, then Covid and homeschooling with 7 kids, getting pregnant and getting Covid two weeks before delivery (while injecting myself with Lovenox everyday), to becoming single overnight with 8 children under the age of 12...it's been a LOT. And I forgot to mention a mysterious illness turned mononucleosis in my 3 year old, and rotavirus in my 18 month old. Both of which rushed us to the ER....I mean, what else could go wrong?

It's 2024!  Time for goals!  Since 1989 I've been writing down goals in the physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual departments.  Not to mention long term goals!  It's been so fun to see the evolution of handwriting and drawing too.  The kids love seeing their progress through the years and we laugh hysterically reading who their crush was for the year.

It was a different approach, but I wanted to hear about Erik's story and learn about how Skye has had to deal with it. Erik has turned tragedy into something beautiful. His relationships with his boys, his wife, and his savior have deepened. His testimony has been strengthened, even amidst all the physical and emotional pain. I think it's fitting that TODAY, marks the 5th anniversary of Don Cash's death on Mount Everest.  This episode speaks for itself. Don Cash had no regrets. He held nothing back and literally lived life to its fullest. His daughter Brandi talks about his courage and how he became a better Dad the more he dominated on the mountains, and even in death. Michele Vas-Conselos, otherwise known as "Murph," was the star player in high school and landed a spot on her dream college, BYU. She suffered a torn ACL and wondered if her spot on the team would be jeopardized. When she joined the NWSL and began her professional career, she was injured yet AGAIN and then had an unexpected surprise which made her put the sport on hold and question if her spot would remain. Joy Davis talks about how her husband knew they would always have a child with disabilities. After Emery was progressing as a toddler, she suffered a stroke in surgery and was never the same. She no longer has the ability to talk, feed herself, walk, or perform regular everyday activities like other young girls. Joy used to hate her name, but she talks about how she grew to love it, how it was meant for her and how Emery has completely shifted her perspective on life and what it means to have a healthy body.

Dr. Julie Valentine is a forensic nurse and mother to 8 children. I was seriously not worthy to be in her presence! She mothered 8 children, and got a PHD with a 2 year old in tow, and thanks to her efforts, the largest state database on sexual assault cases exists in the United States. But it's always about her patients. I was in awe of her capacity to love them, and help them find healing, and she gives a word of warning to those who may be suffering from domestic violence, and don't know it.

I am not sure if I know of someone else who has lost as many loved ones as Kim, in such a short amount of time. After losing her brother in law tragically in a race, she lost two brothers to addiction as well as her Dad shortly after. She has managed to find the joy through it all. While immersing herself in service, she has found joy in the process and helps others to see that joy IS possible. Even in the midst of heartache and devastation.
