139. Finding Hope Amidst The Darkness with Jacqueline Tisher of Hope's Home15 May 202400:36:39

Today on the Joy Curator Podcast we are chatting with Jacqueline Tisher, Visionary Founder + CEO of Hope’s Home. Jacqueline has a profound personal and professional connection to children with complex medical needs. As a Registered Nurse, she dedicated her expertise to the Pediatric ICU and Neonatal ICU, providing care to children facing complex medical challenges. Her journey took a deeply personal turn when her oldest daughter, Acacia, was born with spina bifida, leading to significant hospital stays throughout her childhood. Inspired by her experiences caring for children with complex medical needs, Jacqueline and her family embarked on another avenue of compassion through foster care. In 2003, they opened their home and hearts to foster Hope, a child with medical needs who lived only a brief 10 months, all spent in the hospital. Driven by her dreams and fueled by the profound losses of Hope in 2003 and her daughter Acacia in 2011, Jacqueline transformed her personal journey into a beacon of hope. She turned her aspirations into reality. Hope’s Home now stands as a cornerstone, providing childcare and supportive living homes for children with complex medical needs across Regina, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, and Warman. Jacqueline embodies compassion, dedication, and advocacy, serving as a passionate leader and tireless advocate. Recognized for her exceptional contributions, she has been honored with numerous awards, including the 2010 Saskatchewan Healthcare Excellence Award for Community Leadership, the 2013 YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the 2018 U of R Alumni Humanitarian & Community Service Award, and most recently, the 2023 Saskatchewan Order of Merit. Jacqueline selflessly dedicates her time and energy to amplify the voices of children with complex medical needs. Supported by the remarkable staff at Hope’s Home, Jacqueline’s vision has created a sanctuary where special children can simply be kids. Her dream serves as a poignant reminder there truly is no place like Hope.

38. When Life Gives You Lemons....Make Lemonade! with Cassidy, CEO Cassidy's Lemonade Stand11 May 202000:38:35
Today on Celebrating Simple Life the Podcast I’m chatting with Cassidy Evans, CEO of Cassidy’s Lemonade Stand who also happens to be my amazing daughter. Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects approximately 4000 Canadians. 1 in 25 people are a carrier of the defective gene and both parents need to be a carrier in order to have a 1 in 4 chance of the child being born with Cystic Fibrosis. This is Cassidy. Cystic Fibrosis affects her respiratory and digestive systems by causing the mucus in her body to be very thick and sticky because of the cell confusion of salt and water in her body. She spends hours a day doing respiratory physiotherapy through inhaled medications through a nebulizer, physiotherapy and other vitamins and medications. In the digestive system, this thick sticky mucus prevents the pancreatic enzymes, that are needed to digest food, to exit the pancreas to get to the intestines. Cassidy takes 20-30 pills a day in order to digest food so that she can absorb nutrients and stay healthy. The days often feel long and this is a disease that she wouldn’t wish upon anyone. What keeps her strong is her HOPE in a cure. At Cassidy’s Lemonade Stand, the mission is to share Cassidy’s story, create whimsical events and unique merchandise to heighten awareness about Cystic Fibrosis across Canada and come closer to a cure every single day. Cassidy’s mobile lemonade truck serving up freshly squeezed lemonade has turned into an incredible She is such a brave & beautiful girl on the inside and out and I’m so proud to be her mama! I first met Tenille a few years ago at a Cystic Fibrosis Charity Benefit in Weyburn. Her musical talent was off the charts and her support for Cystic Fibrosis at a national level has helped build awareness and raise funds. She accepted our invitation to sing at our SOAR for Cystic Fibrosis Events in 2018 & 2019 and Cassidy even had the opportunity to sing with her, which was a dream come true for Cassidy. Her appearance as the musical guest on the reality tv show, The Bachelor caught her a recording deal with Reviver Records out of Nashville. She has since made a second appearance on The Bachelor and just announced her third appearance coming up this January 2020 on the newest season. Which of course, I will be throwing an epic viewing party for! She has been praised for her moving songs and has was named one of the 2018 Artists to watch out for by Pop Culture dot com. A few months ago in September, she had a dream come true when she made her Grand Ole Opry debut in the iconic theatre. Her sophomore album, Love, Heartbreak & Everything in Between was just announced and will be available in January. She is absolutely lovely, genuine & kind and I’m so proud to know her. Tune in to hear all about Tenille’s start in music, how she manages being in the public eye and how she is still a country, Saskatchewan girl at heart. Their beef jerky is a staple in our snack pantry at home & I’m so excited for you to hear Chelsey’s story. Crafting a product with positive impact and purpose is her main drive and passion. Their meat mantra is a committed one. Eat meat. Craft leather. Respect cow. She is someone you want to know, and her passion and drive for what she does is absolutely inspiring. Come, MEAT up with us! (get it, MEAT up? Chelsey has influenced me to start up some MEAT puns) Our conversation is packed full of goodness and so much fun, so tune in!
