Steve Aston was a composer, guitarist and amazing human being. Sadly Steve passed away earlier this year and myself and Bar have been involved in releasing the music he composed and recorded over the last 7 years. There is a limited edition Double Vinyl available from the links above, Steve had wanted to have his music on vinyl before he passed so we felt it was important to make that happen. Both myself and Bar have been involved in his music from the beginning so we thought we would record this little episode as a homage to Steve and to try and shine a little light on our good friends amazing musical legacy. | |||

There are so many great ideas and concepts that these amazing musicians bring up and I would like to share with you some of my favourites! This is great for beginner jazz violinists who want a little direction once in a while. Nicola Benedetti Nicola Benedetti is one of the most sought-after violinists of her generation. Her ability to captivate audiences with her innate musicianship and dynamic presence, coupled with her wide appeal as a high-profile advocate for classical music, has made her one of the most influential classical artists of today. She has been collaborating with jazz musician Wynton Marsalis for a number of years but has just brought out her first release playing all of his music, written especially by him for her. It includes his Violin Concerto plus his 'Fiddle Dance Suite', the album is out now on Decca Records. We had a little chat in a hotel lobby in central London about the collaborative process that created this amazing album of music. (the sound quality isn't amazing this time, I get a little nervous when recording in hotel lobbies as hotels don't always appreciate me doing so. This means I have to record on the 'down-low and just use a little portable recorder...) Gareth Ballard Check out Gareths amazing workshop via the link below. He makes lovely violins and is a talented repair and restorer of violins. He is great with set ups and sound adjustments. The music at the beginning ofd the episode is Nicola playing Wyntons Fiddle dance suite for violin (Jones' Jig) The outro music is my band Latchepen playing Benny Golson's 'Whisper Not' I feature Austrailan violinist Julian Ferraretto tune 'Basel' right at the end.
