Ep. 30 Reliving The Most Chaotic Day in Sports: June 17, 1994 with Mark Rolfing05 Jun 202500:35:38

If you are over the age of 40, do you remember where you were on June 17, 1994?

On course golf commentator and analyst Mark Rolfing joins The Inward Nine to relive the events of one of the most chaotic days in all of sports through his perspective. On this day, Mark was at Oakmont Country Club covering the 2nd round of the 94th U.S. Open.

Elsewhere across the country:

  • The New York Rangers were preparing to parade down Broadway in New York City after ending their 54 year championship drought.
  • The first game of the World Cup of Soccer was set to be played in Chicago at 3 PM eastern time. This was the first ever World Cup being played in the United States.
  • In Kansas City, Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 30th home run of the season, to become the fastest player to 30 home runs since Babe Ruth.
  • Back in New York City, the New York Knicks were set to host the Houston Rockets in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The Knicks had not won a championship since 1972.

Each of these stories would soon take a backseat to the news coming out of Los Angeles where the Los Angeles Police Department had issued a warrant for the arrest of O.J. Simpson in connection with the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. When Simpson failed to turn himself in and his whereabouts became unknown, it set of a chain of events which are unforgettable to this day.

As for Rolfing, his day at Oakmont would culminate with one of the most memorable interviews in golf, as the 2nd round at Oakmont was the final round in a U.S. Open for golfing legend Arnold Palmer.

Join Mark and myself for this walk down memory lane during one of the most remarkable days in sports.

Having your resume up to date and ready to go is important. It's not just important merely for the checkpoint of submitting your resume, but more so because your resume is a gateway to landing an interview for the job. If your resume doesn't get you the interview, you won't land the job.

Ep. 37 Grace and Forgiveness08 Aug 202500:41:53

What do you think of when you hear the word forgiveness? Do you find it hard to forgive others when you have been wronged? Has it been hard for you to accept forgiveness from others when they extend it to you? Or, do you find it hard to even just forgive yourself? Have you done something in your life that you feel is so unforgivable that you can't escape the guilt and shame you are feeling?

On this episode, Chandler shares his perspective on two powerful and life changing words, grace and forgiveness. Chandler shares what they mean, how he has experienced them in his life and how you can begin to both accept and extend them in your own life if this is something you have struggled with.

If we are to become the best versions of ourselves, we cannot be holding on to bitterness or anger in not forgiving others, nor can we move forward until we accept someone else has forgiven us and finally we cannot thrive until we learn to give ourselves some grace and forgiveness for when we fall short, which we all inevitably will.
