Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott, and his friend, and cohort, Gary Moore worked together from their youth, on and off. They recorded in a band called Skid Row, and would associate through the decades, until Phil's death in 1986 at age 36. That included stints in Thin Lizzy, the band Phil led, which we explore this week.

Their songs had their own legend, and broke them worldwide, but it was the live shows that sealed their reputation, badass as it was. Markus and Ray try to detail as much as possible about the formation and evolution of Thin Lizzy, and the varied factors that worked for, and against, the band.

Author Brian Sallerson leads Ray and Markus through the path he took to writing his first book, Island Music: The History Of AIR Studios Montserrat, an essential history of an important recording environment in paradise! A unique jewel in its time, AIR Montserrat, built and run by Sir George Martin, as part of the era of destination studios, has fascinated many, including Markus and Ray.

How and why Brian came to the project via an epiphany of sorts is discussed, and he explains how he went from looking into Martin's Caribbean recording oasis to visiting it in its current state. Beyond the glitz and glamour, he found the deeper stories of the studio; it's equipment and construction challenges, and most importantly, the people. 

Whether they worked at the studio or not, the people of the island made every artist's journey a better experience. Brian also explains how the island and its people became the main character of his book.

Gregor Gall is well-known and respected for his written work, his views on geopolitics, and he happens to be a huge fan of The Clash. He separated his fandom from this look into the effects of Strummer's politics, and informs us of some of Joe's late-in-life changed points of view.

From the Tennessee River mud that flows through The Shoals, to the studios, to the records, and the world, helped to forge that Muscle Shoals Sound, created by The Swampers. They were rural Alabama's answer to The Wrecking Crew and became bigger than most big city studio players, achieving so much, without leaving home. Artists making music without rules or limits set the tone for the advent of the Progressive Rock era!

Genesis didn't set the world on fire at the start (not unlike other progressive pioneers), but their influence grew and changed through their early phase, even after Peter's solo departure. Like some of their contemporaries, the lineup that made the band's mark isn't the one they start out with. 

The Imbalanced Boys dig into that aspect, among other things related to the days from inception through Peter Gabriel's answering of his solo calling. Hopefully it will inform newer fans of this band, and set the table for what's next in their amazing history.

The Imbalanced Brothers discuss the arrival of two players in Rock history on the same day: August 25, 1951, making them Birthday Twins!

Judas Priest singer Rob Halford (aka The Metal God), born in the UK, and keyboard wizard Bob Mayo (aka "Mr. Bob Mayo, Bob Mayo please,") born in New York City, each took different paths along their way to Rock & Roll! But they started on the same day, an ocean apart!

Halford breaks out as lead singer in a groundbreaking Metal band, while Mayo "comes alive" in Peter Frampton's band. Two different figures sharing the same date of origin. A bit sad to remember because of Bob's passing , too young, in 2004.

Coming out of 1967, The Rolling Stones were about to turn the corner on their career and become the band they were meant to be. Their next three albums: Beggar's Banquet, Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers saw their evolution hit overdrive, marked the band's departure from Decca/London Records, and sparked their long-time association with Atlantic Records via their own Rolling Stones Records label!

This is also the part of their journey where founding member Brian Jones departs, and then dies suddenly. This episode delves into that chapter, and shows the band emerging on the other side. After his time with EMI (and all of those Beatles records), Sir George Martin founded AIR Studios, opening multiple locations. This week, the Imbalanced Brothers focus on AIR Montserrat, a tropical paradise with a world-class recording studio! The story is well-told in "Under The Volcano," which is airing on Showtime and Hulu!

Dozens of well-known albums were made there between Climax Blues Band's opening of the place, and The Stones' "Steel Wheels," the studio's final project before tragedy strikes. Markus and Ray tell the tale of those halcyon days of the recording business, and the double-sided sword that Mother Nature tosses at the island, that takes the life of Martin's tropical dream.

Along the way, Gracie Otto's directorial depiction of those days has caused both of our hosts to consider an adventurous return to those hallowed studio grounds. 'Til then, enjoy the trip inside this episode!

Punk Rock Month '22 wraps up with a new, completely gobby episode all about the one and only, Sex Pistols! The Imbalanced Brothers always mock Johnny Rotten, but it's done lovingly (sic), most of the time! He, along with Steve, Glen, Cookie, and, of course, Sid combined forces for one big noise, but the aftershocks lasted for years!

Like a massive Punk tsunami, the Pistols' shadow covers a lot of bands, and sounds, which came after their noisy, f*cked up arrival! And props must be given to their Svengali, Malcolm McLaren, who is a huge part of this week's story.

What a great episode to wrap up the second edition of Punk Rock Month, with ideas for '23 already poppin' up!

Markus and Ray delve into their use of "The Devil's Interval," and its role in Black Sabbath becoming an innovative band as the '60s and '70s mixed, at decade's end.

February 1, 2022, the world lost Metal Maven, and Megaforce Records co-founder, Jon Zazula, when he passed at age 69, just shy of his 70th birthday.
