The After Glow01 Jul 202101:26:18

We have now reached the end of the road. After 29 episodes of GLOW we have come to the end of this season.

Cheyenne Cher is the new champion. Some wrestlers have left. There’s a new commissioner in charge. Best of all there are brand new segments.

To celebrate these new segments, today's episode has a new co-host. Matty and the Educator are off for the summer but Kevin’s wife has stepped in. Elise Hellions watches the last three episodes of GLOW and has a lot to say. Finally a woman’s point of view for the commentary, the outfits, the skits, and the in ring action. Tune in to hear what she hated, what she found enjoyable, and what was the most offensive.

In these three episodes there are less matches but more jokes. “Life in the GLOW House”, the sitcom within the show, debuts. Plus “Another GLOW-ing Moment” featuring a never before seen match.

Today’s matches include:

  • Cheyenne Cher’s Reign Part One:
  • Tiffany Mellon and Roxy Astor vs MTV and Hollywood in a Texas Tornado Match.
  • Tanya vs Lightning.
  • Life in the GLOW House.
  • Another GLOW-ing Moment featuring Beastie and Star vs Babe and Tulsa.
  • Cheyenne Cher (GLOW Crown Champion) vs Godiva.

Cheyenne Cher’s Reign Part 2:

  • Daisy vs Justice.
  • Big Bad Mama (with MTV) vs Babe.
  • LIfe in the GLOW House.
  • Another GLOW-ing Moment featuring Sally vs Broadway Rose.
  • Tiffany Mellon and Roxy Astor vs Hollywood and MTV in a battle for Jeeves/Blaze.

Cheyenne Cher’s Reign Part 24:

  • Tiffany Mellon vs Hollywood.
  • Tulsa and Babe vs Big Bad Mama.
  • LIfe in the GLOW House.
  • Another GLOW-ing Moment featuring a 30 woman battle royale.
  • Cheyenne Cher (GLOW Crown Champion) vs Daisy.

13.5 - The Run In: The Glow Up28 Jun 202100:39:34

A special two part GLOW finale starts on today’s episode of the Hot Tag. This Thursday will be the last episode of the GLOW season but Matty and the Educator won’t be there! Kevin turns to the Kliq and brings on Mrs Hellions for today’s edition of the Hot Tag and the House GLOW.

Today Kevin and the Mrs sit down to discuss her history of watching wrestling. The golden age of TNA Knockouts. Watching Miss Elizabeth as a child. Seeing wrestling live. We discuss the differences between what was acceptable 30 years ago and what we don’t do now because we know better. Mrs Elise Hellions talks about what she knew of GLOW going into these last three episodes and how she feels now that she has witnessed the Gorgeous Ladies in all their glory. Today is a fun appetizer for Thursday’s last episode of the season.

Stay tuned and update your feeds for the upcoming Hellions Talks podcast.

There’s nothing more fun than quality time with your partner, but FUN.com is a close second. Head on over for all of the pop culture entertainment.

Run For the Rubies 4 & 5 27 May 202101:50:11

The most offensive episode yet! Your trios tag team champions explode!

The Run for the Rubies tournament continues. We become very confused with the brackets and break down who has advanced in the tournament. Why are second round matches taking place before the first round is over?

Sneaky debuts to assist Stinky get a GLOW contract. Meanwhile, Lightning loses her tag team partner. Can she be successful as a singles wrestler? There’s an eight woman Penalty Box match and all that’s missing is the window to throw the rules out of.

Then, listen as The Educator almost quits the show! The misogynist commentator becomes too much for your hosts to listen to and we debate the future of the show. Personal attacks against Ninotchka, Godiva, and Beastie are broken apart as we defend the women’s beauty and try to make sense of the hate.

Today’s matches include:

  • Run for the Rubies part 4:
  • Ninotchka vs Star.
  • Cheyenne Cher and Vicky Victory vs Stinky and Sneaky.
  • Babe the Farmer’s Daughter vs Evangelina.
  • Roxy Astor and Tiffany Mellon vs Broadway Rose and Hollywood.
  • Penalty Box Match: Daisy, Justice, Mountain Fiji, and Zelda vs Beastie, Big Bad Mama, Dementia, and Godiva.

Run for the Rubies part 5:

  • Roxy Astor vs Hollywood in a Run for the Rubies match.
  • Cheyenne Cher vs Godiva.
  • Beastie vs Lightning in a Run for the Rubies match.
  • MTV vs Zelda in a Run for the Rubies match.

In Your House: Final Four02 Jul 202001:48:23

WWF In Your House: Final Four took place February 16, 1997 at the UTC Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee in front of just over 6,000 fans who were guaranteed to see a new WWF champion crowned.

This is a crazy set up so buckle up. The Royal Rumble saw a controversial finish. Steve Austin was eliminated but the referees didn't see it. He came back in and eliminated Vader, the Undertaker, and Bret Hart thus winning the Rumble. The plan all along was to have these four men face off again at In Your House: Final Four to decide a definitive winner who would then go on to face the WWF champion (Shawn Michaels) at WrestleMania 13.

The problem was, Shawn Michaels didn't want to lose his title to Bret Hart. I mean, Shawn had a knee injury. I mean, Shawn "lost his smile". No matter what the truth was the fact is Shawn Michaels gave up the WWF title three days before this pay per view at Thursday Raw Thursday Live. This four way match that was meant to crown a new #1 contender is now for the vacant WWF title.

We go over all of this on the podcast and so much more. Hot Pokemon talk. Matty Treats introduces us to the world of car sushi. We ask what kind of person Shawn Michaels was back in 1997. We discuss sending money via Western Union. One of the biggest WWF debuts of all time as "Funky Gold Gunn" shows up. This is then overshadowed by the debut of Chyna! We follow all of this up with the biggest top 5 debate in show history.

Tonight's card includes:

  • Marc Mero (with Sable) vs. Leif Cassidy.
  • The Nation of Domination - Faarooq, Crush, and Savio Vega - accompanied by PG-13, D-Lo Brown, and Clarence Mason vs. Bart Gunn, Flash Funk, and Goldust (with Marlena).
  • Rocky Maivia (Intercontinental champion) vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
  • Doug Furnas and Phil LaFon vs. Owen Hart and British Bulldog (WWF Tag Team champions) - with Clarence Mason.
  • Vader vs. Undertaker vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart in an elimination match for the WWF title.

In Your House: It’s Time25 Jun 202001:31:15

WWF In Your House: It’s Time took place December 15, 1996 at the West Palm Beach Auditorium in West Palm Beach, Florida in front of nearly 6,000 fans. Best of all it was presented by Milton Bradley's Karate Fighters!

This is an extra special episode today. This is the bedroom episode! Due to some internet connection issues both the Educator and the Masked Library have moved their electronics into the place where the magic happens. The podcasting magic. Magic like fantasy booking two wrestlers switching characters. How tall is seven feet tall? Breaking down the work of Glenn Jacobs with the world's number one Fake Diesel fan. Kevin questions how many wrestlers actually watch tape of their opponents. Which moves look too dangerous? Does anyone in WWF give veteran wrestlers a try out to see if they can still work before signing them?

Tonight's matches include:

  • Flash Funk vs. Leif Cassidy.
  • Owen Hart and the British Bulldog (WWF tag team champions) (with Clarence Mason) vs. Fake Diesel and Fake Razor Ramon.
  • Marc Mero (with Sable) vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley (Intercontinental champion).
  • The Undertaker vs The Executioner (with Paul Bearer) in an Armageddon Rules match.
  • Sycho Sid (WWF Champion) vs. Bret Hart.

In Your House: Buried Alive18 Jun 202001:36:35

Buried Alive was held at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 20th in front of nearly 10,000 fans.

As the name implies the main event of this match will see either the Undertaker or Mankind buried alive inside of an open gravesite within the arena. A match which will see the debut of one of the "greatest" Superstars of all time.

The show opens hot with the reason you're all here, headset issues! Heel Jim Ross has issues at the announce table and it affects the entire show. Which is a shame, because there's a lot of talented Superstars on this card who deserved more attention. Heels wrestle against heels! Dogs and cats, living together!

We have many questions this episode. How awful do front row fans have to be before they're kicked out? Does Mr Perfect keep women in his garage? How did Sid get over? Who thought heel JR would get over? And what is the proper method to shovel dirt into a grave?

Plus, Matty Treats and the Educator surprise Kevin with an intervention. His TikTok addiction is out of control. The co-hosts don't hold back and it gets savage. Classy, bougie, ratchet. Sassy, moody, nasty.

Tonight's matches include:

  • "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley.
  • Owen Hart and the British Bulldog (WWF tag team champions) (with Clarence Mason) vs. The Smoking Gunns.
  • "The Wildman" Marc Mero (Intercontinental champion) (with Sable) vs. Goldust (with Marlena).
  • Sycho Sid vs. Vader (with Jim Cornette) in a #1 Contender match for the WWF title.
  • The Undertaker vs. Mankind (with Paul Bearer) in a Buried Alive match.

Bonus Episode - NXT TakeOver: In Your House11 Jun 202001:41:14

The third brand under the WWE umbrella, NXT, held a live special event on the WWE Network this past Sunday, June 7th. Six matches including three title matches took place at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida with zero fans attending.

That's right, a lot has changed in the 25 years since our usual WWF In Your House discussions. A lot has changed in the past 25 weeks. During Coronavirus times fans are not allowed in the building. We discuss how this affects the matches and the wrestlers.

Your hosts the Masked Library, Sweet Matty Treats, and the Educator of Excellence throw it back to earlier episodes of The House Show and our joined by the wrestling's greatest viral star, Krone Meltzer. Krone brings in a younger point of view for this modern wrestling show. Does he pass the Educator's tests?

WWE brought out some retro throwbacks for this event and listeners will be thrilled to hear about 2020 versions of some of your favorite segments on The House Show. We discuss couples in wrestling, hair colors, and how much wrestling has changed over the years. Multiple times during this show we winced in empathetic pain as recently injured wrestlers took scary bumps. We break down the new trend in wrestling - Cinematic matches - and rank the ones that have taken place this year.

Which wrestler needs to be a little sexier? What is the correct way to hide an illegal key? And why can't Kevin stick to his match rankings? All of this and more on this special episode of The House Show.

Tonight's matches include:

  • Mia Yim, Shotzi Blackheart, and Tegan Nox vs Candice LeRae, Dakota Kai, and Raquel González.
  • Finn Bálor vs Damian Priest.
  • Keith Lee (North American champion) vs Johnny Gargano.

Bonus Episode - Battle Royal at the Albert Hall08 Jun 202001:52:52

How did we decide to review this event outside of our usual series? This was a request from listener Nick Opalewski! None of us had ever watched this event before and were looking forward to seeing something old but brand new to us.

This event took place October 3, 1991 at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England in front of 5,000 fans. This is a few years before WWF In Your House began so there is plenty of talent seen here that we have not had the occasion to discuss. The Battle Royal was just added to the WWE Network in February 2018 and previous to that was a difficult event to find on VHS. Trust us. This is on the WWE Network but it's a bit difficult to find. Type in Albert Hall and that will help.

Your hosts start by throwing love and praise on your announcers for this evening: Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan. Were the Nasty Boys good? Who is the real world's champion? Why didn't Tito Santana change his trunks? How is a wrestler "fat" and fast? We point out the differences in the ring between now and then. Why do we keep looking at the Texas Tornado's feet? The Undertaker has one of his greatest ring entrances of all time. Why do some of these guys look so big? Allegedly. All of these questions plus match break downs, side tangents, and witty banter.

Tonight's match card:

  • The Nasty Boys (with Jimmy Hart) vs. The Rockers.
  • Ric Flair vs. Tito Santana.
  • Earthquake (with Jimmy Hart) vs. Big Boss Man.
  • The Mountie (with Jimmy Hart) vs Texas Tornado.
  • The Undertaker (with Paul Bearer) vs. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan.
  • The Legion of Doom (WWF Tag Team Champions) vs. Power and Glory.
  • The British Bulldog vs. The Barbarian.
  • 20 Man Over the Top Rope Battle Royal! Participants include: Texas Tornado, Typhoon, Earthquake, Tito Santana, the Mountie, Shawn Michaels, Marty Jannetty, Barbarian, Big Boss Man, Hercules, Paul Roma, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, Jerry Saggs, Brian Knobs, Ric Flair, Hawk, Animal, British Bulldog, Undertaker, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.
  • Plus a special appearance by a WWF legend!

In Your House: Mind Games04 Jun 202001:48:30

WCW Monday Nitro has taken the lead. The kids who worshiped Hulk Hogan are now teenagers and young adults wanting something more edgy. WWF isn't yet fully committed to taking the product in a new direction. An upstart more mature company is getting noticed and fans are treating them as an equal alternative to WWF. All of this comes to a head September 22, 1996 from the CoreStates Center in the home of Extreme - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania!

15,000 of the hardest to please wrestling fans on earth showed up for the tenth installment in the In Your House series. Kevin asks Matty Treats if he is one of those fans. As usual we comment on what the front row is doing and, wait a minute! They don't work here! Why are ECW wrestlers Tommy Dreamer and Sandman along with Paul Heyman sitting in the front row? We talk about wrestlers that appear but don't have matches, like the legendary Fake Diesel and Fake Razor. Discussion of Jim Cornette's wrestling talent. Rodeo Sunny appears. Jim Ross begins his heel turn. Mankind is in phenomenal shape. Kevin makes too many anime references. Then we talk about one of the most violent matches we've seen since this podcast began and how it matches up with our nostalgic memories. All of this plus our trademark match breakdowns, wrestling history, side stories, and bad jokes.

Tonight's matches include:

  • Savio Vega vs. Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw (with Uncle Zebekiah) in a Caribbean Strap Match.
  • Jose Lothario vs. Jim Cornette.
  • Owen Hart and the British Bulldog (with Clarence Mason) vs. The Smoking Gunns with Sunny (WWF Tag Team Champions).
  • Mark Henry vs. Jerry "the King" Lawler
  • The Undertaker vs. Goldust (with Marlena).
  • Shawn Michaels (WWF Champion) (with Jose Lothario) vs. Mankind (with Paul Bearer).

In Your House: Beware of Dog21 May 202001:43:04

On May 26, 1996 WWF was presenting the eighth In Your House event. There was a powerful thunderstorm in the area but WWF always brings back up generators for their production trucks. Unfortunately the arena had no backup. Shortly after the first match airs, the feed goes out. WWF had to scramble. A plan for fans in attendance, a plan for those watching at home, and a plan for the wrestlers in the ring. The power returned and the pay per view was back on the air in time for the main event.

To make up for this act of God, WWF scheduled In Your House Beware of Dog for the following Tuesday. Monday Night Raw aired in between as scheduled, and the affected the results of the make up show. These few days are one of the craziest stories in wrestling history.

Beware of Dog 1 was held at the Florence Civic Center in Florence, South Carolina for 6,000 fans. Two nights later on May 28 Beware of Dog 2 took place at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina for 4,500 fans. To this day, this is the only WWF pay per view to ever take place in South Carolina. Maybe there's a reason for that.

It wouldn't be The House Show without tangents. Tune in to this episode as the Trios champions discuss: wrestling themed food trucks, when is it okay to insult a woman, what is "attempted alienation of affection", and could Goldust happen today? Kevin surprises the other hosts by saying something nice about Diana Hart Smith. A fan heckles the wrestlers so much it not only breaks their concentration, but also ours 25 years later. Plus the always popular crickets make an appearance.

Tonight's matches include:

From Night 1:

In Your House: Good Friends, Better Enemies14 May 202001:56:00

WWF In Your House 7: Good Friends, Better Enemies took place April 28, 1996 from the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska in front of over nine thousand fans.

This is the oddest pay per view we've covered so far. Nothing makes sense and the main event is shocking. This show marks the last time Razor Ramon and Diesel appear in the WWF. Both men would soon debut on WCW Monday Nitro as Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, changing the wrestling industry as the new World order.

WWF is buying time on this show and even your favorite wrestling experts have trouble following what happens. How does a singles match become a tag team match? Does a good guy smoke cigars? We break down our thoughts on Vader, Diana Smith, Sunny, and Ahmed Johnson.

Finally, the main event is the most violent and surprising one we've watched so far. Tables, belts, and fake legs! It all comes to a head as Shawn Michaels ascends the throne as leader of the WWF's New Generation.

Tonight's matches include:

  • Jake "the Snake" Roberts vs. The British Bulldog (with Owen Hart, Jim Cornette, and Clarence Mason)
  • Jake "the Snake" Roberts and Ahmed Johnson vs. The British Bulldog and Owen Hart
  • Goldust (WWF Intercontinental champion, with Marlena) vs The Ultimate Warrior
  • Vader (with Jim Cornette) vs. Razor Ramon
  • The Bodydonnas - Skip and Zip (WWF Tag Team Champions, with Sunny) vs. The Godwinns - Henry and Phineas (with Hillbilly Jim)
  • Shawn Michaels (WWF World Champion, with Jose Lothario) vs. Diesel in a No Holds Barred match.

In Your House: Rage in the Cage07 May 202001:34:00

Your Trios Tag Team champions continue ignoring the doorbell as we break down WWF In Your House. This sixth iteration comes from Louisville, Kentucky. Taking place on February 18, 1996 in front of 5,500 live fans and 150,000 pay per view buys.

Remember: Viewer discretion is advised.

We have many questions while watching this event. Does a Crybaby match do anything to help the loser's career? What is the featured item of the week? Who the hell put Shawn Michaels on top of a house?

Shawn Michaels is still recovering from not only the attack in Syracuse, but also Owen Hart's boot. Can he make it to WrestleMania? A newly turned good guy Yokozuna returns and he has something to say. Kevin educates Matty Treats on Elizabeth Hilden's resume. We continue to be presently surprised by some great work, by both wrestlers and managers. Shawn Michaels acts inappropriately. The guys reminisce about the big blue steel cage. We disagree over the quality of the main event match. Then we're all on the same page to praise the most unexpected, original, shocking pay per view ending we had ever seen.

Plus, the debut of The House Show Game Show!

Tonight's matches include:

  • Razor Ramon vs. The 1-2-3 Kid (with Ted DiBiase) in a Crybaby Match
  • Hunter Hearst Helmsley (with Elizabeth Hilden) vs. Duke "the Dumpster" Drose
  • Yokozuna vs. The British Bulldog (with Jim Cornette)
  • Shawn Michaels vs. Owen Hart (with Jim Cornette). Shawn's title match at WrestleMania is on the line
  • Bret Hart (WWF Champion) vs. Diesel. Steel Cage Match.

In Your House: Great White North23 Apr 202001:26:12

Spring is here but it's cold in your house! That's because on this week's episode we're heading to Canada. The fourth edition of the WWF pay per view series, In Your House, originating on October 22, 1995, at the Winnipeg Arena in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Over 10,000 fans were in attendance and this is a hot Canadian crowd which adds to the atmosphere of the show.

Weeks prior to this event, WWF Intercontinental champion was attacked in Syracuse, NY. Right down the road from where The House Show crew lived. We go through our memories of the event and try to get to the bottom of what really happened. Later we break down Goldust's debut match. The 1-2-3 Kid's slow heel turn. Did Dean Douglas get a raw deal in WWF? All of this and so much more.

Tonight's match card will be:

  • Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Fatu
  • The Smoking Gunns (WWF Tag Team Champions) vs. The 1-2-3 Kid and Razor Ramon
  • Goldust vs. Marty Jannetty
  • King Mabel (with Sir Mo) vs. Yokozuna (with Jim Cornette and Mr Fuji)
  • Dean Douglas (WWF Intercontinental champion) vs. Razor Ramon
  • Diesel (WWF World Heavyweight champion) vs. The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith (with Jim Cornette).

In Your House: The Triple Header16 Apr 202001:40:54

For the first time ever, all three WWF titles will be on the line in the same match! It's the WWF world heavyweight champion Diesel teaming up with the Intercontinental champion Shawn Michaels as they challenge the WWF tag team champions Yokozuna and Owen Hart.

With four men in the main event, we needed four men to discuss the events of the evening. "The Masked Library" Kevin Decent, "Sweet" Matty Treats, and the Educator of Excellence are joined by longtime friend and living internet wrestling legend, Krone Meltzer.

In 2006, a young wrestling fan got into an argument on one of the biggest pro wrestling message boards of the day. He took this fight to the new media, YouTube. From there he became a phenomenon. Calling people out, breaking news, building his legend. Billed as the illegitimate son of wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer, Krone has been mostly silent for years. He joins the House Show this evening for his first viewing ever of the WWF at this time.

WWF In Your House: Triple Header took place September 24, 1995 from the Civic Center in Saginaw, Michigan. Just over five thousand fans and thousands more on pay per view watched the following matches that will be discussed on the podcast:

  • Savio Vega vs. Waylon Mercy
  • Sycho Sid (with Ted DiBiase) vs. Henry O. Godwinn
  • The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
  • Dean Douglas (with Bob Backlund) vs Razor Ramon
  • Bret Hart vs Jean Pierre Lafitte.
  • Two Dudes with Attitudes. Diesel (WWF champion) and Shawn Michaels (Intercontinental champion) vs. Yokozuna and Owen Hart (WWF Tag Team Champions) (with Jim Cornette and Mr Fuji)

But wait! The main event is in jeopardy. A story that continues throughout the evening. What happened? Who will win? Who is actually in the building and will be in your house?

The House Show podcast features The Retro Network's own Kevin Decent along with his two best friends Matt and Matt as they revisit WWF In Your House pay-per-view events from the '90s over the course of the worldwide quarantine. In Your House: The Lumberjacks09 Apr 202001:22:43

This one is full of controversy and stories. Did Jeff Jarrett actually sing "With My Baby Tonight" live this evening? What happened to Jeff Jarrett and the Roadie after this event went off the air? We discuss the strengths and weaknesses of then WWF champion Diesel against Sid in the main event of the evening. Surrounded by good guy and bad guy WWF Superstars. It's a good old fashioned Lumberjack match! What does the Educator have against Jerry Lawler? Who is the prettiest wrestler on the show? We also begin to rank the In Your House events and pick the best match of the series so far.

Tonight's In Your House event card:

  • The Roadie vs. The 1-2-3 Kid
  • Men on a Mission (King Mabel and Sir Mo) vs. Razor Ramon and Savio Vega
  • Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Henry O. Godwinn
  • Jeff Jarrett (WWF Intercontinental champion) with the Roadie vs. Shawn Michaels
  • Owen Hart and Yokozuna (WWF tag team champions) with Jim Cornette and Mr. Fuji vs the Allied Powers (Lex Luger and "the British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith)
  • Diesel (WWF Champion) vs. Sycho Sid (with Ted DiBiase) in a Lumberjack match.

Run For The Rubies 3 & 420 May 202101:50:09

The tournament continues! Who will be the next to wear the GLOW crown? The details of the tournament are given and we are very confused.

A major turn takes place during these episodes. A tag team nearly breaks up. Sara and Mabel continue to be awful. The commentary falls deeper into misogyny. Plus four first round matches in the Run for the Rubies tournament.

We continue to fantasy book GLOW. Then we learn some new vocabulary from the hoods and the Brits. Finally let's applaud some of the Ladies who have improved their in ring work.

Meanwhile, Treats tells how last week’s birthday greeting came about. We discuss our original food creations. The commercial of the week requires a NSFW explanation.

Today’s matches include:

Episode 3:

  • Roxy Astor vs Mabel in a Run for the Rubies first round match.
  • Beastie and Godiva vs Babe the Farmer’s Daughter and Tulsa.
  • Sally the Farmer’s Daughter vs Star in a Run for the Rubies first round match.
  • Daisy (with Gremlina) vs Zelda.

Episode 4

  • Justice vs Sara in a Run for the Rubies first round match.
  • Big Bad Mama vs Daisy.
  • Tiffany Mellon vs Godiva in a Run for the Rubies first round match.
  • Tanya vs Ninotchka.

7.5 - The Run In: This Old House Show17 May 202100:21:18

Today is a quick solo show with Kevin. He gives an update on all that is happening with the house. The podcast studio is dismantled. Comics are everywhere. Holes are being fixed. Bookshelves are moved like Tetris. Wrestling toys balance like Jenga blocks. The “one or two” days project enters its second week and might go further. This is an emotional but hopeful episode as life might be changing.

The House GLOW Run for the Rubies Tournament and Part One

We’re introduced to Babe’s pink pig. Sunny tells a joke. Interesting tag teams are formed. What is the proper way to wear a straight jacket? Best of all, the tournament begins!

Plus, it’s the second annual celebration of Kevin’s birthday. Time to tell embarrassing stories of his past, present, and … future?

Tonight’s matches include:

Run for the Rubies Part One:

Big Bad Mama vs Sunny the California Girl.

Broadway Rose vs Babe the Farmer’s Daughter.

Cheyeene Cher and Vicky Victory vs Sara and Mabel.

All three of your trios tag team champions are here this fine Monday morning. Money has been spent and updates are needed.

The Educator gives a retro video game update and takes us through his collection philosophy. Kevin found some comics, is missing others, and had to call his mom in to help. Treats adds figures and posters to his wrestling collection and is debating the next expensive purchase.

We also wonder how much violence is GLOW allowed to show. Is there tension between the Russians? Who are the mysterious wrestlers in the GLOW rap that we have yet to see? How do we celebrate Sweet Lady Liberty Day? How did they get away with the Sara and Mabel characters?

All of this plus the usual life updates from your hosts. An epic tale of Victoria’s Secret mannequins. Matty Treats has made a new enemy. We try out Zelda’s hair care products. Plus, we continue our war against the announcer calling the Gorgeous Ladies fat.

Today’s matches include:

Episode 11:

MTV vs Babe the Farmer’s Daughter.

Liberty and Justice vs Tanya and Ninotchka.

Godiva vs Zelda.

Vicky Victory and Cheyenne Cher vs Daisy (with Gremlina) and Dementia.

Beastie vs Tiffany Mellon.

Episode 12:

Sally vs Hollywood in a Texas Bar Room Brawl match.

5.5 - The Run In: Hot Tag with Karen Flieger03 May 202102:15:26

It is time to hear all about the woman behind the retweet button. It’s time to sit down with the Retro Network’s own Karen Flieger.

Karen seemed to come out of nowhere and instantly became one of the greatest champions for this blogging/podcasting circle. She then switched hats and went from a fan to a creator as one of the most prolific writers on The Retro Network. On today’s episode of The Hot Tag, Kevin sits down for a one on one interview with Karen. How did she discover all of us? What are her origins? We discuss figures colliding, hometown childhoods, prom memories, and which one of us wanted which dolls.

This episode is a lot of fun and if you haven’t already fallen in love with Karen’s voice you will by the end of the show.

Ninotchka's Reign 9 & 1029 Apr 202102:01:26

Welcome to part one of today’s Thursday wrestling podcast crossover with At Odds with Wrestling.

One of your trios tag team champions hosts, Kevin Hellions, won the At Odds Mania for the third year in a row and thus was able to pick a homework assignment for that podcast. In a bit of synergy, Kevin assigns them the same two episodes of GLOW that we are watching this evening. Listen to At Odds discuss these two episodes Thursday evening.

This morning though, we debate who is the face (the face?) of GLOW. Men calling women fat. Have we seen this woman before? Plus the two most offensive characters in the history of the show.

In other news, what is Kevin’s deep dark secret he refuses to tell on the podcast? Who has a spring to their step? And the Educator busts out a surprising new impression.

Tonight’s matches include:

Episode 9:

Dementia vs Babe, the Farmer’s Daughter.

Ninotchka and Tanya vs Thunderbolt and Lightning.

Tiffany Mellon vs Star.

Vicky Victory and Cheyenne Cher vs Broadway Rose and Hollywood in a Texas Tornado match.

Godiva vs Sally, the Farmer’s Daughter.

Episode 10:

Stinky vs Cheyenne Cher.

Liberty and Justice vs Sara and Mabel in a No DQ, no referees match.

Big Bad Mama vs Tulsa.

Daisy (with Gremlina) and Evangelina vs Lil’ Fiji and Mt. Fiji.

Roxy Astor vs Ninotchka (GLOW Crown Champion).

Listen to At Odds with Wrestling.

4.5 - The Run In: Hot Tag with Tig Carson26 Apr 202101:18:11

Today’s episode is a long time coming!

On this episode of The Hot Tag, Kevin sits down for a one on one interview with Tig Carson of The Attic Dwellers (Nerd Out with Me, The Tig and Eric Show, Thee Movie Club).

The Attic Dwellers features Tig and Eric San Juan discussing all manners of pop trash culture. Most of the time they’re in Eric’s attic but through the years they’ve been on the road, in the garden, and over the last year - in their own respective homes.

We discuss the origins of the site and the YouTube channel. Tig’s love of movies and the creative process. Many overall geek topics. Most importantly, why we do what we do. This is a must listen for other bloggers and creators out there.

Follow The Attic Dwellers across the internet.

Ninotchka's Reign 7 & 822 Apr 202101:41:36

Welcome wrestling fans to the most jam packed episode of The House GLOW thus far. Be prepared to see all of your favorite ladies multiple times this evening. You’ll be richer for it, but wait until you see how rich one of the wrestlers will be.

Your trios tag team champions are back to break apart two more episodes from season 3 of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

Every single lady appears at least twice this evening. First in a Lumberjack match, and later in a tag team battle royal. Plus, someone is going to have to get shoes to match the winner’s purse. There is money up for grabs in not only the battle royal (no, no - not the tag team battle royal - there’s another battle royal in the next episode) but also for any woman who can knock Mt. Fiji off her feet. Plus the scariest move we’ve witnessed in the series.

In other news Matty Treats finds another Discovery Plus obsession. Every man has a price, and all three of us give ours. The Educator is the good guy of the week. And if you enjoyed our previous food talk, wait until we discuss kangaroo meat.

Tonight’s matches include:

Episode 7:

  • Roxy Astor vs Godiva.
  • Vicky Victory vs MTV in a Lumberjack match.
  • Beastie vs Tulsa.
  • Tag Team Battle Royal featuring: Thunderbolt and Lightning, Broadway Rose and Hollywood, Daisy and Dementia (with Gremlina), Justice and Liberty, Ninotchka and Tanya, Babe and Sally - the Farmer’s Daughters.

Episode 8:

  • Ninotchka (GLOW champion) vs Justice.
  • Daisy (with Gremlina) and Dementia vs Babe and Sally, the Farmer's Daughters.
  • Mt. Fiji vs Broadway Rose and Hollywood in a Two on One Handicap Match.
  • Roxy Astor and Tiffany Mellon vs MTV and Habana.
  • 24 Woman Battle Royal featuring: Mt Fiji, Babe the Farmer’s Daughter, Big Bad Mama, Broadway Rose, Cheyenne Cher, Daisy, Dementia, Evangelina, Godiva, Gremlina, Habana, Hollywood, Justice, Liberty, Lightning, MTV, Ninotchka, Roxy Astor, Sally the Farmer’s Daughter, Tanya, Thunderbolt, Tiffany Mellon, Vicky Victory, and Zelda.

3.5 - The Run In: Weekend Warrior Recap19 Apr 202100:43:59

A week later and your trios tag team champions are finally recovered from their WrestleMania trip. It’s time to talk about the purchases, the food, and the shenanigans that took place in the Roc.

Last Saturday morning the Masked Library, Kevin Hellions and the Educator met up in a suburb of Syracuse, NY. They then travelled to Rochester to meet up with Matty Treats. Many stores were shopped at. Much food was eaten. Then we had Night One of WrestleMania to look forward to. All you can eat sushi. Giant potatoes. Video games. Toys. Comics. Tapes. And so much more.

Who filled a car? Who struck out? Who needed adult supervision? All of these and so many more stories on today’s episode of the Run In.

In other news, Treats has a new enemy on another streaming site. The Educator is close to an ACL decision but he’s feeling even closer to your A-OK VJ. Wooo! Meanwhile, Kevin slips further into debauchery and blames his co-hosts for it.

  • Justice and Liberty vs Broadway Rose and Hollywood.
  • Mountain Fiji vs Big Bad Mama.

2.5 - The Run In: Wrestlemania Predictions12 Apr 202100:53:54

WrestleMania predictions? On a Monday? After the two night event?

That's right. A spin on prediction shows as only The House Show can provide. On today's episode Matty Treats and Kevin Hellions have predicted who they think will win previous to the show airing live. Any podcast can make predictions before the event and ret-con their choices. But only the House Show commits to their predictions, right or wrong, by putting the picks out there the Monday after. Where they can lay before the judging ears of those who watched the event.

Who will win? Who will lose? Did we get anything right? We can justify all of our predictions but that doesn't mean the WWE writers have the same logic. Listen today and don't judge us too harshly.

Ninotchka's Reign 3 & 408 Apr 202101:35:49

Last week was not an April Fool’s Day prank. The House GLOW continues! Your trios tag team champions are breaking down Season 3 of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling thanks to Tubi TV.

But first, late breaking news. Our fourth member, Krone Meltzer, was mentioned on the Jim Cornette podcast. We discuss the entire conversation and check the mail for our residual check from the show.

We start out Ninotchka’s Reign Parts 3 + 4 with discussion about content that would not fly on Peacock. The superheroes arrive. We debate whether Cheyenne Cher is amazing or doing too much. What is a Voodoo Match? Breaking down Stinky’s gimmick. More work rate and character discussion. Plus, which one of us is a big fan of Melody “Trouble” Vixen? Woooo!

In other news there is more discussion of WrestleMania weekend. An MRI update. Plus, will Kevin get the show cancelled?

GLOW matches for Episode 3 include:

  • Beastie vs Justice.
  • Lightning and Thunderbolt vs Broadway Rose and Dementia.
  • Hollywood vs Sally the Farmer’s Daughter.
  • Big Bad Mama vs Cheyenne Cher.
  • Ninotchka vs Tiffany Mellon for the Glow Crown.

GLOW matches for Episode 4 include:

1.5 - The Run In: Hot Tag with Peter Breau05 Apr 202101:21:51

On today's episode, Kevin is joined by comic book writer and director of social media and public relations for Second Sight Publishing - Peter Breau.

This is a great conversation not only about the love of comics, but also behind the scenes work of creating comics. Peter has written many comics for Antarctic Press, Caliber Comics, and Second Sight. He is a Spacie Award finalist and projects a never ending level of excitement for all of the comics coming soon from him and Second Sight.

Peter hails from Saint John, New Brunswick and we discuss some of the differences between being a geek in the United States or Canada.

Peter has written issues of These Damn Kids, Exciting Comics, Beetlegirl, Mississippi Zombie, and so much more. All of this within a few years! We talk about the creative process of writing and if Peter actually lives in an alternate part of Canada that has a longer than 24 hour day.

Ninotchka's Reign 1 & 201 Apr 202101:38:11

We are the champions of The Retro Network.

Peacock changed our plans what a jerk.

We need a new event, we need a new show.

Welcome to the debut of The House GLOW!

On today's episode your trios tag team champions start their dive into season 3 of the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. While we all have some knowledge of GLOW, this is our first time really watching this classic bit of 1980's sports entertainment. We discuss what the hell is going on here. Is anyone trained? Who is the audience for this show? Why are there so many splashes? Why is everyone wearing thong leotards? Why, why, why?

The Hot Tag segment returns on this show. Commercials return in-between episodes 1 and 2. Plus, Matty and the Educator keep track of how many offensive comments Kevin makes. This is all in good fun and we hope you enjoy us experiencing all the humor and high energy in ring action that is GLOW.

Tonight's matches include:

Part 1:

Tiffany Melon vs Godiva.

Babe, the Farmer's Daughter and Tulsa vs Hollywood and MTV.

Arm Wrestling Match: Mt Fiji vs Big Bad Mama.

Arm Wrestling Match: Jackie Stallone vs Aunt Kitty.

Zelda vs Beastie.

For the GLOW Crown: Sally, the Farmer's Daughter vs Ninotchka (champion).

Part 2:

Sunny, the California Girl vs Daisy (with Gremlina).

Mt Fiji vs Beastie and Habana.

Roxy Astor vs Dementia.

Sally and Babe - the Farmer's Daughters vs Godiva and Hollywood.

For the GLOW Crown: Vicky Victory vs Ninotchka (champion).

12.5 - TRI - State of the Union29 Mar 202100:22:34

A tragedy has taken place in the world of retro wrestling podcasts. We no longer have access to WWF Saturday Night’s Main Event. Damn you Peacock! Damn you to hell!

With that said, your trios tag team champions called an emergency Monday morning Run In meeting to discuss the future of the podcast. With the season 3 content gone until possibly SummerSlam in August, what do we watch until then?!

A decision is reached and starting this Thursday we will debut an all new season 4 (or 3.5) of the House Show.

Listen to find out what retro wrestling content we choose, and how you can watch along with us.

SNME #12 - Birth of the Mega Powers25 Mar 202101:20:34

Here it comes. Are they going to? Is this happening?

The handshake that rocks the wrestling world is here! On today’s episode of WWF Saturday Night’s Main Event we bear witness to the birth of the Mega Powers!

On September 23, 1987 (airing October 3) the 9,000 fans that packed the Hersheypark Arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania watched the official face turn on the “Macho Man” Randy Savage. This is one of the most iconic moments in the height of WWF’s popularity. Savage is beaten down by the Honky Tonk Man and the Hart Foundation. Miss Elizabeth runs away. No! She runs for help and help arrives in the form of Hulk Hogan. Hogan sees this three on one attack and he has to be a man, he can’t let it slide. The Hulkster saves Macho Man and then the crowd erupts as the Maniacs and the Madness come together.

But that’s not all! In a special video premier, this episode features the exclusive debut of the “Piledriver” music video!

Plus all of the entertainment from your trios tag team champions. Matty asks someone out on a date. The Educator shows off his vocal range. Kevin receives an F in this week’s wrestling knowledge quiz.

Tonight’s matches include:

  • “Macho Man” Randy Savage (with Miss Elizabeth) vs the Honky Tonk Man (Intercontinental Champion) (with Jimmy Hart).
  • Hulk Hogan (WWF World Heavyweight Champion) vs Sika (with Mr Fuji and Kim Chee).
  • King Kong Bundy (with a surprise) vs “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff (with Oliver Humperdink).
  • The Hart Foundation (WWF Tag Team Champions) vs The Young Stallions.

Plus, the “Piledriver” music video.

11.5 - The Run In: Hot Tag with William Bruce West22 Mar 202101:43:35

Finally!

Long time fans of the geek blog and podcast world are well familiar with the voice and words of William Bruce West. "He's forgotten more about pop culture than you'll ever know."

Will and Kevin have been friends for years but this is their first time talking to each other. They discuss blog origins, who inspired them, how to balance fatherhood and blogging, rebranding a creation, and so much more. Lots of comic book talk, along with plenty of that pop culture that he hasn't forgotten.

This episode is a long time coming. On a personal note Will has become one of my (Kevin's) best friends and it's all thanks to our mutual desire to put our thoughts out there for a world of strangers. Here's hoping this is the first of many discussions.

If you want to read Will's blog make sure to bookmark WilliamBruceWest.com in your browser of choice.

28 - NXT Takeover 202121 Jun 202101:16:33

We can't let an In Your House go by without discussing it!

Much like last year when The House Show was rewatching the original WWF In Your House series, the yellow and black brand has brought the concept back once more.

On today's episode we throw back to our own season one. Matty Treats and Kevin Hellions are joined by Krone Meltzer to discuss last Sunday's NXT event. From the throwbacks to today's matches, with lots of segues into modern day wrestling. We break down everything we liked and disliked. Turn down your headphones, because the three of us will be louder than the live crowd.

Tonight's matches include:

  • Bronson Reed (North American champion and MSK (NXT tag team champions) vs Legado del Fantasma.
  • Xia Li vs Mercedes Martinez.
  • LA Knight vs Cameron Grimes in a Ladder Match for the Million Dollar Championship.

SNME #11 - Wrestlemania 3 Fallout18 Mar 202101:33:20

It just wouldn't be pro wrestling without some controversy.

This eleventh edition of Saturday Night's Main Event took place April 28, 1987 (aired May 2) at the Edmond P. Joyce Center in Notre Dame, Illinois for 9,345 fans excited to see what happens next after the iconic WrestleMania III.

Hulk Hogan is still champion, but Bobby "the Brain" Heenan and Andre the Giant have camera footage to dispute that. Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat is the new Intercontinental champion but a heated "Macho Man" Randy Savage isn't going to walk off into the sunset. Then a two out of three falls match for the WWF tag team titles that excites and angers not only the fans in attendance, but your trios tag team champions decades later.

All of that official in ring action plus the tangents that we are known for. Proper behavior for lumberjacks. Where is Hogan? We break down "American Badass" version of Jim Duggan. Will the Savage/Steele feud ever end? Who is the real Kim Chee? An ACL update. Plus Kevin's tale of how smut saved his life.

Tonight's matches include:

  • Kamala (with Kim Chee and Mr Fuji) vs Jake "the Snake" Roberts.
  • Randy Savage (with Miss Elizabeth) vs George "the Animal" Steele in a Lumberjack match.
  • The British Bulldogs (with Tito Santana) vs The Hart Foundation (Tag team champions) (with Jimmy Hart) in a two out of three falls match.
  • Ricky Steamboat (Intercontinental champion) vs Hercules (with Bobby Heenan)
  • The Can Am Connection (Rick Martel and Tom Zenk) (with Jim Duggan) vs Iron Skeik and Nikolai Volkoff (with Slick)

10.5 - The Run In: Krone Meltzer on AEW15 Mar 202100:46:13

On today's episode Matty Treats takes control of the Monday morning discussion and brings in the fourth member of the trio, the internet wrestling community's own Krone Meltzer.

Matty and Krone break down the not very explosive ending of last week's All Elite Wrestling pay per view Revolution. They waited to discuss the climax of the ppv until after this Wednesday's episode of AEW Dynamite to see what Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston had to say.

But that's not all that happened. What do today's hosts think will happen next for Adam Page? Should Sting be in his current spot? Reactions to MJF's new faction. The top challengers in the women's division. Talent jumping from WWE to AEW. Plus a peek into some behind the curtain discussions about the podcast.

SNME X - Wrestlemania 3 Build11 Mar 202101:23:45

The biggest sports entertainment event of our childhood is nigh. This episode of Saturday Night's Main Event features most of the Superstars who will appear in front of 93,000 fans in just a few weeks. Stories are advanced and some of the most memorable matches from that pay per view come together on this episode.

Taking place right next door to where Mania will take place, at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on February 21, 1987 (airing March 14) for 21,000 fans who probably also had their tickets in hand for the Pontiac Silverdome.

Ricky Steamboat and Randy Savage are ready to tear into each other. The battle of the full nelson is about to begin. Plus, Andre the Giant has recently turned heel and his feud against Hulk Hogan is so hot even the other wrestlers have to stop and bear witness to history.

We discuss the WrestleMania III build up. Could the opening quick promos segment work today? How exactly does one win a human and who decides the rightful possessor? Does WWF beta test ideas? And what exactly is an "official observer"?

All of that plus we give an update on where the collection talk is going. Matty makes a big boy purchase. The Educator gives an ACL update. Along with all of the tangents and jokes you've come to know and love.

Tonight's matches include:

Randy Savage (Intercontinental champion) (with Miss Elizabeth) vs George the Animal Steele for the title and for the managerial services of Miss Elizabeth.

20 man Battle Royal.

King Kong Bundy (with Bobby Heenan) vs Jake Roberts.

The Hart Foundation (tag team champions) (with Jimmy Hart and Danny Davis) vs Tito Santana and Dan Spivey.

Ricky Steamboat vs The Iron Sheik (with Slick).

9.5 - The Run In: Collecting Journey Begins08 Mar 202100:31:15

A bold new direction for The House Show begins. Our collecting updates have been some of the most popular segments in show history. Now, once a month, we will focus on our expanding collections, beginning with this episode.

The Educator gives a very expensive video game collection update. Treats finds a figure recreating one of the most iconic pay per view moments of all time. Kevin is given a couple bucks and finds a brand new release in the wild. We debate how Treats should display his collections. The epic on card vs loose debate. A decision is reached on the new AEW figures. Plus the next hunt begins! It's an evolution in figure hunting.

SNME #8 - This is Where the Power Lies25 Feb 202101:31:33

Look! Look at our hands! Your trios tag team champions hung and bung to discuss the eighth episode of Saturday Night's Main Event. This episode was taped November 15, 1986 (aired November 29) at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in LA, CA before 16,000 fans.

We discuss a rare heel vs heel match. Hulk Hogan endlessly fed new challengers. Roddy Piper's face turn. Debate over masks and twins. Who is Brian? Plus, how much TV time remains for the main event?

All of this plus food discussion that's both tasty and disgusting. Who among us is brave enough to attempt to conquer the Meat Mountain?!

Tonight's matches include:

Randy Savage (Intercontinental champion) (with Miss Elizabeth) vs Jake Roberts.

Hulk Hogan (WWF World champion) vs Hercules (with Bobby Heenan).

Roddy Piper vs Bob Orton (with Jimmy Hart).

The Killer Bees vs The Hart Foundation (with Jimmy Hart).

Koko B Ware vs Nikolai Volkoff (with Slick).

The Magnificent Muraco (with Mr Fuji) vs Dick Slater.

Variant comic books. What will Treats collect next after he obtains all of the AEW figures? Why is the Educator the Dean Malenko of retro video games? How many covers are too many?
