112: What Should I Wear?02 Apr 202400:28:36

When you feel confident, you emit a positive energy that people are naturally drawn to. Feeling confident in yourself is NOT about having the perfect body or putting your life on hold until after you get around to losing that 10kg.

Our guest today firmly believes you don’t have to have the perfect body to have STYLE.

Ohh YESSS!

This episode is for every one of us who has had a “moment” standing in front of our wardrobes wondering what on earth we are going to wear.

Our guest is the fabulous Jane Mow, a Personal Brand Stylist and Style Coach for women.

Jane's ethos is what you wear is your business card. When you dress in a way that aligns with your personal style, you feel confident and self assured, which shines through in the way you show up in the world.

Our bodies change across the different seasons of our life but this doesn't mean our personal style has to change. Short. Curvy. Tall. Wide. Narrow. Broad Shoulders. Stubborn tummy. Mummy-weight. Menopause.

Jane's belief is that everyone has the potential to be stylish. So if you’re done hiding under the baggy clothes, you can’t miss this episode!

Jane's years of experience helps women take the stress out of getting dressed each day by helping you create a wardrobe filled only with pieces aligned with your unique Personal Style and Lifestyle.

The result? There’s none of this, “ugh, what should I wear?” every time you get dressed.

Instead, it sounds like “OOOoh, which items should I wear today?”

Who's ready to feel fabulous??!!

Episode 22: How to make your healthy eating even healthier!08 Aug 202200:34:19

Is it a diet…is it a supplement…. NO, it’s a different way of looking at the way we eat.

Today I speak with farmer Greg Peterson, from Urban Farm,  who is on a mission to transform our global food system.

It’s a sentiment I couldn’t agree with more. Our bodies were designed to eat real food - not manufactured and processed “food”.

Years ago I ran nutrition talks in kindergartens and the kids came up with this rhyme. It’s “real food” if:

If it grew in the ground
Or grew on a tree
If it lived on the earth
Or swam in the sea…

When we are eating locally grown, in season produce it is 100% better for us AND better for the planet. Our current food system is broken. The lack of nutrition, proliferation of environmental toxins and manufactured foods, and the average distance our food travels to our tables, has reduced its nutritional density.

We are opting for convenience over nutrition, and paying for it with our health.

We’ve lost touch with what real food looks like and in this great conversation, Greg and I drill down into the cracks that are in our current food system and also simple steps you take to make a change to your own health and the health of the planet.

We have a chat about:

  • Food miles - how far food travels from where it is grown to where it is consumed
  • Food nutrition - the farther food travels the less nutrient dense it is
  • The impact shipping food halfway around the world has on the environment
  • The supply chain issues that is causing current ongoing food shortages

We also dip our toes into Greg’s passion for permaculture AND how you can get started simply and cheaply to have your own fresh produce - even if you have limited space, money and time!

Episode 21: Is your healthy eating making you sick?02 Aug 202200:19:14

Bloating, gas and hives, oh my!

You’ve no doubt heard the quote that food can be our medicine… and the flip side is, it can be our poison too. There is no doubt that our hormones change the way our body responds to food and this can bring on a range of inflammatory and very often annoying symptoms.

The fastest way to stop guessing which foods (and products such as toothpastes and deodorants too!) are not right for you right now, is with a food sensitivity test.

Identify exactly which foods aren't working for you - instead of restrictive elimination diets that take out entire food groups unnecessarily, leaving you feeling as though there is nothing left to eat.

In todays episode I explain why I have used this particular test with every single client, for the past 5 years and why it works.

Food sensitivity tests have proven to be effective for the treatment of:

  • Hormonal symptoms and imbalances
  • Bloating, reflux, irritable bowel, diarrhoea, leaky gut, constipation, flatulence and poor digestion
  • Headaches, migraines, joint pain and seasonal allergies such as sinus and hay fever
  • Recurring and unresolved illness and infections
  • Behavioural issues, poor concentration, poor memory, brain fog and low energy levels
  • Food cravings, fatigue and poor sleep
  • Eczema, psoriasis, hives, acne, rashes, itchy, dry and inflamed skin.

Episode 20: Wild and Wise Women Over 5026 Jul 202200:36:54

When we hit 50 (or 40 or 60 for that matter!) we are NOT old ladies. Not even close to it. We have plenty of living left to do and we should be living vibrant and energetic lives! We also come with the benefits of experience, wisdom and hindsight!

In this episode, it is my turn to be interviewed by the vivacious Kip Clarke, host of the Wild and Wise Women Over 50 masterclass series. Kip created the masterclass series for women to reignite your passions and use the wisdom of your decades to unleash a vibrant, sexy new you!

In our interview we talked about how we are living in this body for the next 20, 30, 40, 50 and more years - so we need to pay attention to it, take care of it and we need to learn to love it. If we aren’t taking care of it, no one else is going to.

When we think of our pets. How long until we take the dog to the vet if it starts to limp? We’re on the phone immediately booking appointments and x rays. How about the kids? Maybe a few days, more of a wait and see but we generally end up erring on the side of caution. Then when it comes to our own body or how we are feeling… It can be months or even YEARS before we actually address what is going on.

Our bodies never lie. Our bodies tell us the truth and we have learned to master the art of ignoring it. Ladies it’s time to pay attention to that little tap on the shoulder before it becomes a smack on the head!

Life is to be lived and it’s never too late to start loving the body you’re in.

Episode 19: The Estrogen Dance - Too much or not enough?19 Jul 202200:27:07

Estrogen plays a big role in our reproductive health, it gives us our boobs and curves, it is critical in helping us create healthy pregnancies and babies.

On top of that, estrogen promotes new bone growth - preventing osteoporosis, and also supports our cardiovascular health and plays a role in regulating our insulin response to prevent insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes.

There is however a fine line between too much and not enough estrogen.

Fluctuating and high estrogen, which is common during perimenopause, can trigger a range of inflammatory symptoms.

Similarly low levels of estrogen during and post menopause can be just as problematic in the form of hot flushes, insomnia, anxiety and overwhelm - resulting in a loss of confidence and self esteem.

Today we look at the literal highs and lows and how you can best support your hormones and your body through this transition and come out the other side - feeling more energised and confident than ever.

Episode 18: Stop people pleasing with leadership coach Jo Zulaica11 Jul 202200:35:06

As women many of us are natural people pleasers. We have an extraordinary capacity to take on more to support others - we’re honestly all a bit too capable for our own good!  Be it partners, children, parents, friends, family, work, community and we’ve been doing it most of our lives, so it’s ingrained deep into our psyche.

Today I share a great conversation with leadership coach Jo Zulaica.  Jo is an experienced leadership coach who works with women professionally to help them find their voice and step into their full potential.

Jo’s work is particularly relevant for all of us in this mid phase of life,  and helps coach women to shut down that negative self chatter, tap into your core values and step into your own identity  - the one that’s outside being a partner/ wife/ mother/ daughter / employee and so on.

We talk about the importance of filling your own cup and how having the confidence to put ourselves first  - physically, mentally and emotionally, means we’re coming from a very abundant place, a very full up, a very happy, a very fulfilled and satisfied and rich place.

In this episode Jo and I talk about the importance of filling your own cup first and what that looks like for you.

  • What does that look like for you and how each of us can only know that for ourselves
  • How to shut down that negative chatter in our heads that tells us we’re too busy, don’t have enough time, money etc to value investing back in ourselves
  • The importance of tapping into your core values.

Jo gives us some great questions to think about and the good, sometimes surprising news is, we get to choose!

How do I want to be?
How do I want to eat?
How do I get my energy?
How do I restore?
How do I fill my cup?

Episode 17: The secret to getting a good night's sleep04 Jul 202200:23:34

If you can’t sleep at night, then you’re not alone.

While sleep is so essential for our health, it can also be so elusive. It’s often one of the first signs and symptoms of peri menopause – quickly followed by exhaustion and fatigue, and can last well beyond menopause (really…did it ever come back after kids??!!).

Here we look at why you’re struggling to get a decent night’s sleep and what you can do about it.

Sleep is one of the fundamental building blocks towards health. Poor sleep has clinically been shown to increase the risk of developing;

  • Weight gain
  • Blood pressure and cardiovascular disease
  • Poor work performance
  • Fatigue
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Accelerated ageing
  • Diabetes
  • Mood swings, anxiety and depression.

Oh the joys!

While sleeping tablets and even antidepressants are commonly prescribed for women struggling to sleep, it might help with short term relief…but to really make a lasting change, we need to get to the underlying causes of why we are waking up in the first place. Otherwise it’s going to be a constant struggle!

In today’s episode I chat about:

–  Some of the common reasons WHY your sleep might be so disrupted

–  How you can combat this naturally.

Episode 16: How unconscious stress can sabotage our behaviours with Karlie McKeand28 Jun 202200:21:57

Why is it that we can have all the best intentions in the world but we just can’t get ourselves to the finish line?

In this episode I speak with my good friend, Karlie McKeand who is a naturopath and the creator of NER - Naturopathic Emotional Release. We look at the unconscious stresses that lead us to sabotaging our goals, stemming from underlying emotions or underlying stress patterns that throw us off track from what we set out to achieve.

This can be due to certain belief systems, or things that happened in our past, that we may or may not be aware of, where our brain has created a particular pattern designed to keep us safe.

This can be really helpful in certain situations - for example unconsciously slamming on the brakes if a car stops in front of us. Then other times it creates that self-sabotaging pattern and the result is that sometimes we don't do the things that we really want to.

Karlie has created a protocol called NER  - Naturopathic Emotional Release, can be used to assess underlying emotional drivers on clients of all ages.

NER has successfully been used to treat:

  • Anxiety
  • Bed-wetting
  • Chronic conditions
  • Digestive conditions
  • Food aversions
  • Headaches
  • Hormonal imbalances and fertility challenges
  • Mental health issues
  • Pain
  • PMS
  • Self-sabotaging behaviours
  • Sleep issues
  • Stress
  • Trauma and grief
  • Weight loss

Episode 15: The #1 hormone driving weight gain in our 40's and 50's20 Jun 202200:22:27

Once you hit your 40s and 50s, your body is undergoing the biggest change since puberty which can leave you feeling exhausted, waking up in the night, cranky and reaching for sugar, chocolate, wine and cheese just to keep you going through a busy day.

And how your body burns fat (or not…) has completely changed.

To say the least, once you hit your 40’s and 50s, regaining your energy and shifting that belly fat requires you to work WITH your hormones.

As your estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate wildly from your early 40s and and naturally produce less around 50, your body becomes more sensitive to signal a key fat storage hormone  - namely insulin.

Naturally declining levels of estrogen puts you at risk of weight gain and having insulin resistance worsens the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause - but the news isn’t all bad!

In this episode I cover:

  • The signs of insulin resistance and what to be tested for
  • Why conventional recommendation of “lose weight” isn’t helpful
  • How to overcome cravings
  • Diet and lifestyle considerations

111: Signs and Symptoms of Perimenopause26 Mar 202400:13:18

I’m constantly being asked a LOT of questions about perimenopause... so if you’re experiencing changes in your body that leave you feeling confused and overwhelmed, you aren’t alone.

Perimenopause isn't a sudden occurrence; it's more like a reverse puberty, spanning anywhere from two to ten years. During this time, hormonal fluctuations can lead to various symptoms, including anxiety, disrupted sleep, heavier periods, allergies, hot flashes, and brain fog.

In today's episode of The Hormone Hub we look at why blood tests are not the best indicator of where your hormones are at, and why you need to pay attention to the signs and symptoms - even if you don’t have a regular period!

We look at…
The 4 stages of perimenopause.
50+ common symptoms

It’s more than just about understanding perimenopause; it's about reclaiming control of your health and well-being. This season of life can be challenging but by prioritising your own self care… including diet, lifestyle choices, and stress management techniques can help alleviate symptoms and support you through this transition.

I also have a free guide which includes:
A symptom tracker
List of blood work that IS helpful you can ask your doctor for.

Don't forget that while it can be challenging... you don't have to do it alone and it doesn't last forever!

Episode 12: HRT - The facts, the myths, the pros and cons30 May 202200:23:28

No woman should be left to silently suffer the potentially debilitating symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. There are lots of options available to us - both naturally in the form of diet, lifestyle, stress management and also in the form of HRT or what is now known as MHT - Menopause Hormone Therapy.

I want to give you the facts so you can make informed decisions about what is right for YOU and YOUR body. No one knows your body better than you do and you also have your own personal threshold of what symptoms you’re prepared to put up with.

We talk about the different types of Hormone Therapy, what type of Hormone Therapy is appropriate for the different stages of perimenopause and menopause - the benefits and also the downsides or risks associated.

In this episode we talk about:

Episode 11: Cheers to that... One woman's story of giving up daily drinking.24 May 202200:28:31

It likely comes as no surprise that alcohol, health, hormones and weight loss goals generally don’t mix, and if we’re being honest, there really are many valid reasons to have a serious look at our drinking habits and drastically reduce or even give up the booze.

Certainly having a glass of wine, or whatever your drink of choice, is also a cherished pastime, a form of self-medication, a conduit for connecting with friends and is infused into most of our social gatherings - if you’ve been hanging around me long enough, you’ll know that I’m not adverse to a cheeky glass of wine.

So what does it take to stop drinking? Today we have a special guest Nicole Layton, the Director of Insight Talent Solutions - Recruiter, career and mindfulness coach, who openly and honestly shares her decision to give up alcohol for close to two years.

Nicole shares how she came to this decision, the process and benefits that came from it and also the resistance of other people when you are trying to navigate a social life without alcohol.

This is a must listen episode for anyone who has ever questioned their own alcohol consumption, or woken up and vowed to stop drinking, or starts most Mondays with a “no alcohol until the weekend” vow and makes it until Wednesday…

In this episode our guest Nicole shares her story of giving up alcohol for close to 2 years.

  • How she came to decide to quit, and even then it was just going to be midweek
  • The unexpected benefits to her health, her relationship, hormones and her weight
  • How the hardest part has been navigating her “new social life” and the resistance of friends and her social circle.

Episode 10: Heart attacks can happen to younger women too...16 May 202200:26:09

Today we’re getting serious… Heart disease is the #1 cause of death of women worldwide, and 1 woman every hour in Australia aged 45-65 dies as a result of heart disease. That’s around 3 x more than breast cancer!

The good news is, it’s also largely preventable!!

While so much of my work and what I talk about is focused on hormone health - by managing this with dietary and lifestyle changes we are actually also reducing your risk of heart disease at the same time… it’s very much a holistic approach.

Don’t let those little whispers turn into screams. Get checked and start making some positive changes today. If you’re waiting for a sign - this is it!

In this episode I talk about the risk factors that are specific to women.

  • The lesser known signs and symptoms that you're having a heart attack, which could save your life (and it’s NOT clutching your chest and dropping to the ground!)
  • 4 simple steps you can start making today to reduce your risk of heart disease and heart attack
  • A few common myths busted.

Episode 8: Is stress sabotaging your weight loss?03 May 202200:26:47

Are you trying to do all the “right” things and not getting any results when it comes to your weight loss efforts? Maybe you’re feeling ripped off because you've been good all week, nothing’s changed, so come Friday you face plant into a cheese platter and a bottle of wine… that’s if you made it until Friday!

But what if it’s not not diet and exercise that makes the biggest difference…then what?

Certainly what may have worked in our 20’s and 30’s is not working so well now.

In this episode you don’t want to miss:

  • Why stress can be sabotaging your weight loss efforts - and other ways it can affect your health.
  • We can’t always change the amount of stress (or perceived stress) we have going on, but we can learn to change the way we respond to it.
  • Your health, and your waistline will thank you!
  • What to eat - and what to avoid,  to combat the effects of stress
  • How bringing in more downtime for laughing, relaxing and fun can help our weight loss efforts - as well as our mental and physical health.

Episode 7: Anxiety, overwhelm and rage - feeling and dealing with big emotions25 Apr 202200:35:11

“I feel weird” - it’s not right or wrong, it’s how you feel.

Anxiety, anger, rage, depression - these are some of the big emotions that are exacerbated by fluctuating hormones during our 40’ s and 50’s. Today’s guest Nic Topp is a respected mental health naturopath, specialising in mental health and mindset.

We chat about mindset, emotions, confidence and how to navigate this as we deal with our own changing hormones, the mental and emotional loads we carry for others - all while there is still a heaviness in the world.

It’s essential we find the space to take care of ourselves and Nic gives us steps to actually find the pieces of ourselves again - the things that light us up and bring us joy. These are the things that calm our nervous systems and benefit our mental health. It’s OK for us to embrace our wisdom, knowledge and experience and stop people pleasing. The people will be OK!

You don’t want to miss:

  • How to stop, take a breath to get back into your body
  • Why you need to stop carrying the load for everyone else
  • How to let go of perfectionism by stopping moving the goalposts you create for yourself
  • You don’t need to ask permission to put yourself first and it’s OK acknowledge that you have needs too
  • We are at the perfect age to explore what brings us joy and lights us up.

Episode 6: Why am I so tired...? What's driving your fatigue and what to do about it.19 Apr 202200:20:17

If your energy is good… everything is better! Fatigue is the #1 complaint I hear from women is often one of the easiest things to improve. If we have more energy, we feel more motivated, we move more, we make better food choices, so our digestion is better, and on it goes. Today I chat about simple steps you can take to turn your energy around… and why it goes against what a lot of popular diets are doing! HINT… diets don’t work!!!

The Hormone Hub podcast is the perfect way for me to reach more women, I’ll always tell you how it is and we can have the conversations you’re yet to have with your friends! …and I get to do something I love, which is to have a chat!

You don’t want to miss:

  • #1 complaint I hear from women in their 40’s and 50’s is their lack of energy. Energy is precious – if you have lots of energy – life is good, you can get on with the things you need to do and have plenty left over to do the things you enjoy.
  • Are popular diets like fasting and low carb or keto helping your energy…or not?
  • Why giving up coffee (or at least having it mid morning) will do wonders for your energy levels.

Episode 5: Thyroid Health With Missy Beavers11 Apr 202200:39:53
Today I’m joined by an amazing guest, Missy Beavers. Missy is the founder of The Healthy Solution, helping women end the exhausting thyroid battle.

Anyone who has experienced a chronic health condition knows how hopeless it can feel. Missy was diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis as a child and was made to believe by doctors that she’d be on medication for the rest of her life. As an adult, with a Masters in Nutrition, she created a program that reversed the condition and allowed her to step away from medication.

In this episode, Missy and I dig deeper into why the thyroid is so crucial to your health. We talk about the different signs and symptoms and why you shouldn't settle for "normal" thyroid results when you know something isn't right.

You don’t want to miss:

  • Why your thyroid is a BIG deal (Hint… You have thyroid receptors in every single cell in your body!)
  • Signs and symptoms that something is off with your thyroid
  • Different presentations of thyroid disorders and Missy’s incredible story - weighing in as a high school student at 125kg, despite having a healthy diet
  • Why your blood tests might come back as “normal”. What tests you need to have done and why we need to look at the optimal range - the “normal” range is too wide. And the need to push for a full thyroid panel test.
  • What your thyroid does.

Thyroid Blood Tests...

If you're off to your GP, here’s a list of thyroid tests that give you a full picture of what’s going on… Always ask for a copy of your results!

  • Remember to stop taking any supplements 48 hours before your blood tests to give a true reading
  • Continue with any prescribed medications unless advised otherwise by your GP....

- TSH, T3, T4

- Anti thyroglobulin (anti-Tg) antibodies

- Antithyroid peroxidase (anti-TPO)

** GP’s don't like to order a full thyroid panel, but this is the simplest way of detecting autoimmune thyroid conditions. If you are showing signs and symptoms, or have a family history, it's certainly worth pushing for!

Episode 3: It's not you, it's your hormones! Perimenopause symptoms explained...30 Mar 202200:12:13

We don’t just wake up one day and find ourselves in menopause. It’s a natural sequence of hormonal events that happen in the 5-10 years BEFORE menopause.  Some of us won’t even know,  most of us will find some subtle changes and for others it will impact their day to day life. All women have a different experience and the good news is, it does NOT last forever.  As our hormones change, so do our symptoms.

You don’t want to miss:

  • Why perimenopause isn’t diagnosed by a blood test and what signs and symptoms will tell you
  • How you can still going through perimenopause, even if you’re not having periods due to a hysterectomy or an ablation, or have a mirena or you’re on the pill
  • What’s “normal” and what’s not

Episode 2: My hormone story - That time I had a facial and found a thyroid tumour...30 Mar 202200:16:16

I am on this hormonal journey with you! With half a thyroid and my own experience of burnout or adrenal fatigue means that I get it! Not that my experience is the same as yours, but I understand the frustrations of trying to figure out what is going on and not being heard by medical professionals because I didn’t fit into the box!

I am pleased to say at 50, my energy is fantastic, I’m back to the same weight I was at 40. My thyroid is manageable and while my adrenals can be a little cranky from time to time, I recognise the signs and know I need to listen to those whispers… because ladies, if you don’t listen to the whispers, eventually they will turn into screams!

In this episode, you don’t want to miss:

  • My personal hormonal rollercoaster – which will be different from yours, but I know what it feels like to be told everything’s “normal” when I knew it really wasn’t!

  • Standing up to the doctor (who wasn’t my regular GP) when he wanted to put me on synthetic estrogen HRT…when I was already estrogen dominant!

🥂 The Culture of Cheers
Regular drinking has become a norm, but at what cost? We're discussing the specific health risks women face from significant alcohol consumption and why it's time for a cultural shift.

💡 Creating a Life You Adore, Sans Alcohol

Episode 102: Viva La Vulva09 Feb 202400:24:37

Gynaecological cancers include cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, vulvar, fallopian tube and placental cancers.

As with any cancer, early detection and awareness is the key to a better health outcome.

Today on The Hormone Hub, we speak with Kath Mazzella OAM, who is a 30year vulvar cancer survivor. Kath shares her experience and the work she has tirelessly been doing to bring awareness and break down the stigmas of gynaecological health.

Starting with... using the anatomically correct terminology.
There's more to it than a vagina.

The vulva is the global term that describes all the structures that make external female genitalia. Which includes the mons pubis, labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, vestibular bulbs, vulva vestibule, Bartholin's glands, Skene's glands, urethra, and vaginal opening.

You know your body better than anyone, so if you're experiencing symptoms that are unusual, please get it medically checked...

What's NOT normal...

Abnormal or persistent vaginal bleeding – such as bleeding after menopause, bleeding that is not part of menstrual periods, or bleeding after sex

Unusual vaginal discharge (if it's ongoing ask for a swab!)
Pain, pressure or discomfort in the abdomen
Swelling of the abdomen
Change in bowel or bladder habits
Pain during sex
Weight loss
Itching, burning or soreness in the vulva
Lumps, sores or wart-like growths

There are a number of conditions that may cause these symptoms, but please see your doctor as early detection is always best.

Viva La Vulva!

Episode 96: Best of Hormone Hub - The Pros and Cons of HRT09 Jan 202400:23:28

When the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause begin to affect our quality of life… we do NOT have to suffer through and just put up with it.

Nor do we need to take strong pharmaceuticals that come with their own side effects.

The good news is, there is a middle ground in the form of bioidentical HRT which is now also known as MHT - Menopause Hormone Therapy.

In this “Best of Series” I’ll explain the HRT options that are now available to us, AND why we still need to pay attention to diet, lifestyle, stress management, sleep and exercise.

It doesn’t need to be HRT or natural, it can be both!

I want to give you the facts so you can make informed decisions about what YOU feel is right for YOUR body.

I break it down into...

As a business owner, 52 yr old perimenopausal Mum of 3 teenagers and a wife of 22 years I know that the struggle can be real!

I had half my thyroid removed 17 years ago, have experienced adrenal fatigue and burn out (more than once 🤦‍♀️) and am still in perimenopause with regular periods and pleased to report that I’ve never had a hot flush! Touching all the wood right now…

Listen in to this week’s episode on how I manage my own hormonal dance, my non-negotiables when it comes to my health, hormones and happiness, and my biggest perimenopause symptom I constantly struggle with… which if you’ve been listening to the podcast for a while, you might already know!

Episode 91: Tackling Belly Fat in Perimenopause and Menopause05 Dec 202300:13:17

We all carry fat in different parts of our bodies but as we go through perimenopause and menopause, our hormones signal our body to store more fat around our middle aka the dreaded belly fat!

In this episode we have a look at why belly fat becomes an issue, what are the hormones that are driving it and the metabolism shift we can experience during our 40s and 50s.

We’re also going to do a reality check… I encourage you to grab your tape measure and let's look at how your waist measurement can impact your health and your risk of cardiovascular disease and heart attack. This is regardless of how tall or short you are, use it as a place to start.

Episode 90: Dealing with Difficult People with Dr Rebecca Ray28 Nov 202300:37:59

Who doesn’t want to live a life that’s fulfilling, unapologetic, and free?

Today’s conversation on The Hormone Hub is with one woman who has created just that.

She’s had numerous pivots in her life.… from being a pilot to a clinical psychologist, from dating men to marrying the love of her life who just happens to be a woman, and from struggling with burn out to bestselling author.

So excited to share this great conversation with Dr Rebecca Ray about those seemingly small things, but collectively very large things, that can hold us all back from living a big life and playing all out.

Beck shares some great insights into how to navigate a new way forward. From letting go of people pleasing to setting boundaries, with ourselves as much as with others, this episode is perfect for any woman feeling stuck, and dare I say it - trapped, and who knows that life has more in store for her.

If you’re like me and wanting more, Beck is the author of 6 best selling books (available from all good bookstores + online) which I believe are essential reading for every woman… actually I think they should be on the high school curriculum!!

Episode 89: Inflammation SOS: Your Guide to Hormone Friendly Solutions20 Nov 202300:12:03

When it comes to health, the term “inflammation” gets thrown around a lot… but what does that mean exactly and why is it exacerbated during perimenopause and menopause?

In this episode of The Hormone Hub, I break down what it means to have chronic inflammation and the different ways it can show up in our body.

Signs of chronic inflammation:
Can last months or years
Ongoing fatigue and lethargy
Digestive disorders – bloating, IBS and reflux
Rashes, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea or other skin afflictions
Being overweight and having trouble losing weight
Fatty liver, insulin resistance and Type 2 diabetes
Aches and pains
Ongoing headaches or migraines
Heart disease
Heavy periods and problematic cycles
Autoimmune conditions

It is entirely possible to reduce inflammation in your body and the reality is that your diet and lifestyle is either helping to keep inflammation at bay or it’s driving it.

And of course… I’ll share the details of the choices you can make!
